Need help with a mirror image effect

For most of our product photos, I create a copy of the image, flip it vertically, fade it out, and then move it down to create a mirror image effect. Simple enough. But this one I'm having a problem. The product has 4 legs, and from this view, the back 2 legs are shorter. When I do my normal steps that I listed, I get similar to what you see below. I know all about drawing a marquee around part of the reflection, hitting Ctrl+T and then holding down Ctrl+Shift to skew just what's in the marquee. I've done this technique a lot, but it does not work for this particular image. What do I have to do to get the reflection of the back legs to line up with the actual back legs in the image? Thanks.

Well, Photoshop is not a 3D rendering program and you can only fake it by painting or assembling the reflection using your artistic skills and knowledge of perspective and reflections. From certain angles and with certain objects this could be quite easily done by just mirroring the 2D image but in other cases like  this it wont' work. I made a quick scene in a 3D program to show you how the refection will actually be in real life - you will see the bottom of the table in the reflection and this is missing from the 2D image. You can assemble and position separately parts of the reflection from the 2D image by using the front sides of the table and and legs but the rest (bottom) of table has to be created from scratch.

  • Need Help With Waveform-driven Image Effects

    Hi,
    I've been working on a full-dome 3D animation for a couple of years now and I'm looking for someone to help with a custom plug-in for After Effects, Photoshop and/or Combustion. I need to be able to drive filters and effects like Brush Strokes and 'sketchy' noise with the waveform from an audio file. I've been using a very poor mans workflow in which I've mapped the waveform by breaking it up into vertical ranges of varying intensities and then applying respective levels of the effects and filters to the sequential images based on where they fall in the waveform ranges. So for the test Ive done, I've been literally applying Photoshop actions to very small packets of still images from rendered sequences, and it has been dizzyingly time-consuming. Ideally I would want to be able to do this dynamically with a motion graphics package, but really I'm looking for as much help as I can get.
    This project began as my master's thesis and I'm working on it during the free time I have between teaching and freelance work; I don't have much money but I am willing to pay for help with this goal. There is still a lot of 3D work that I still need to do and the rendering process will be slow, so this wouldn't be a job with strict or tight deadlines. The final images will be very large (3200x3200) and with the growth in the full-dome market, these sizes could easily increase. If anyone is interested or could help me with this endeavor in any way, please respond to [email protected] Thank in advance to anyone who reads this.
    Max

    See the SDK_Backwards sample to see how to acquire audio data from a layer. This is the same access method used by AE's own waveform drawing plug-ins. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions.

  • DW8 - Need help with Flash Mirror Gallery by Flashdevelopment24

    I just purchased an image viewer called Flash Mirror Gallery by Flashdevelopment24:
    http://www.flashdevelopment24.com/extensions/flash_photo_gallery_06.aspx
    I use DW8. Unfortunately the wizard and the instructions are WAY beyond me. I can insert the object on my page but I have no clue how to import images into it, do I need to create separate thumbnails?, etc. Its a European company and the English isn't taht great either which doesn't help.I went through all their FAQs and examples and I don't have a clue.
    I'm doing something very simple, all I need are VERY simple directions on how to make this work. It would be best if there was a YouTube or other video tutorial available. I paid 45 buck for this and it useless to me right now. Help!

    I paid 45 buck for this and it useless to me right now. Help!
    Sorry can't help, don't know the product at all.
    If you are having problems with it, then it's best to contact the people you purchased it from no?  They should either help you with support issues, you you should get a refund if it doesn't work as expected.

  • Need Help with Complex Background Images

    Hey, Macromedia, I mean, Adobe Dreamweaver users. I have a
    dilemma, before you read further, look at this website:
    https://statons.rtotogo.com/rtotogostore/rto_store/sign_in.asp.
    Notice the background images. The light tan stripe at the top, the
    orange/yellow stripe beneath it, and the darker tan color that
    encompasses the rest of the background. When you go to a longer
    page on the site, the top two colors do not repeat, and as the page
    shrinks on smaller pages, so does the darker tan background. How
    can I do this? I've seen it done before, and I read the source

    advise! I am in desperate need of your expertise!
    Thanks in advance for the help.

    It's controlled using CSS check out the css script and the

  • Need help with a typewriter text effect

    Hi, could you guys look over my script and see what's up? I'd like the words in the string to type out in the alotted time, but for some reason my function apends the first and last letter of anything in the string, so "Hello?" becomes "ello." This is not affected if I pad the text in the string with spaces, i.e. " Hello? " Nor does this work if I start count i at -1, not 0. Please help.
    import flash.utils.Timer;
    import flash.events.TimerEvent;
    var str:String = "Hello?";
    var i:int = -1;
    var delay:int = 720%str.length;
    var timer:Timer = new Timer(delay);
    timer.start();
    timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,gotime);
    function gotime(e:TimerEvent)
    textbox_txt.appendText(str.charAt(i));
    i++;
    if (i>=str.length)
    timer.stop();

    AHA!  If forgot to go into the properties of my textfield and tell the ebedded font to have a character range of "All."
    Thanks for getting my brain going Ned!

  • Need help with flying saucer special effect

    Hi--I want to create an effect in iMovie 9 of a flying saucer flying through the sky and then landing in a large open field, much like the scene in the 1951 version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
    Does anyone have ideas or tips how to do this? Thanks.

    2y ago (OMG! it's three years ago!!), I made a StarWars fanproject with my lil son (the old beta version of the website still alive here) ...
    all the droids and spaceships were created in some very cheap animation app, which allowed a socalled alpha-chanel - the background was 'transparent') - in FinalCutExpress you add a 2nd layer - compositing done.
    in iM08 you could follow my advice for overlaying stills http://karsten.schluter.googlepages.com/im08_logobug
    in iM09, you can 'abuse' the greenscreen effect for compositing... film UFO model moving before a green background and take a foto of your background scenery.
    or, build a model of your UFO and use fishing line for 'animation' while recording scenery - the line will be invisible...-

    Here's the contact information for Adobe Technical Support:

    Before contacting them, you might want to try these methods for clearing a corrupt font database:

    Going through the first two solutions on that page can clear up a lot of font issues.

    I have edited my photos in elements and loaded them on my website but when I click on them on the site to enlarge, some get really really big and others are fine. I don't know what Im doing wrong.
    Any suggestions

    Go to File>save for web. This brings up a dialog. Enter 800px or so for the longest side, check "constrain proportions" , and for your purpose you will no doubt want to save as JPEG - look under presets. I usually select high quality.

    I need help with a PDF file that is an image, the "Read Out Loud' option does not work, please help!

    You mean an image such as a scanned document?
    If that is the case, the file doesn't contain any text for Reader Out Loud to read. In order to fix that, you would need an application such as Adobe Acrobat that does Optical Character Recognition to convert the images to actual text.
    You can also try to export the file as a Word document or something else using ExportPDF which I believe offers OCR and is cheaper than Acrobat.

  • Need help with effect!

    I need help with the following:
    I am currently making a Harry Potter short film and I'm doing a spell that hits my friend and my friend needs to be blown backwards (if you know what I mean, he needs to like kinda fly backwards because of the force from the spell).
    Can you in anyway help me with this or give me an idea on how to proceed?
    I've been thinking of setting a green screen up where the person jumps backwards on a mattress or similar.
    Thank you so much, I really hope you can help me.
    I have been searching the web for a long long time and didn't find any answer.

    Be careful here. Someone yanking on another person rigged with a professional harness can suffer permanent spinal injury. I have a home and a family and I wouldn't attempt even a simple version of this kind of stunt without a rider on my liability policy, a professional and therefore bondable stunt coordinator, and a trained stunt person. No offence Todd but I'd never yank someone backward by a wire or cord attached to their torso.
    You can do this very gently by having the actor just throw out their arms and jump backwards a bit then do the majority of the move in AE. Having the camera on a simple slider would also help. As the actor jumps back dolly the camera back on a slider.
    I've been shooting and producing films for more than 40 years when not one injury on the set except for me. Fractured my L2 and L3 vertebrae on a fall with a SetadyCam in 1975 because we didn't do a thorough enough safety briefing. Don't just try and do something you think you have seen on YouTube without some serious planning. There's no need for anyone to get hurt on a set.

    Look at all the apdiv's you have.  Those are absolutely positioned layers.  I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS.  I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
    Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

  • I need to print a mirror image of a PDF on my iPad.  Is this possible?

    I need to print a mirror image of a PDF on my iPad for an iron on transfer.  Is this possible?  I have Pages and GoodReader but can't figure out how this would work on either app.  Help!

    Can't be done as an exact copy from one Mac to the other.  The operating systems are system specific. First make sure your system doesn't need a firmware update to get 10.2 or later on it. You'll need to install 9 on it if it does, direct from a 9 retail CD that is compatible with it *.  This disc can't say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM. To determine compatibility, identify your G4 tower:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3082
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42739
    Then look at the OS 9 compatibility:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
    Then apply the correct update
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
    The last Mac OS 9 to come retail is 9.2.1, and that's newer than 9.0.4, 9.0.2, and 9.1.
    Your ghost image can be done using cloning software, but then you'll have to use a retail 10.3 installer and 10.3.9 combo update on the G4 tower.  Then use the Migration Assistant to import the data from the clone of the iBook. The 10.3 retail disc looks like * and does not say upgrade, dropin, or OEM.  The 10.3.9 combo update is here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxcombinedupdate1039.html
    The clone to an external hard drive can be done with these instructions*:

  • Need help with Page Layout and Background Scaling

    hello, everyone.
    I am in the process of designing a new website for myself,
    and while I was researching nicely designed pages to use as
    inspiration, I stumbled upon this site:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/
    obviously, the design is very impressive, but it also
    incorporates a lot of web mechanics that I have been trying to
    figure out, so I will use this page as an example.
    one thing I need help with is backgrounds. as you can see in
    the posted website, the creator used a seamlessly tiled paper
    texture to display the bulk of his content on. also make not of the
    pattern that is located to the left of the paper texture. how do I
    create seamless backgrounds like this that will scale to fit any
    amount of content or any resolution? I can't imagine that the guy
    that made that site created a new size background every time he
    made an update, so there has to be an easier way.
    the second thing that I am having trouble with is general
    site layout. I have read that most sites used series of invisible
    tables to organize there content, but when I open the source of
    this page in dreamweaver, he was using something different. div
    tags? should I be using these? who do I use them? are there any
    general layout tips that someone could pass on to me? perhaps a
    link to a good tutorial?
    please help me. i am very confused.
    thanks so much.

    IMO not a good site to emulate. To wit:
    Top background image:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/images/bg-top.jpg;
    745px
    x 350px 137K
    Main background image:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/images/bg-tile.jpg;
    745px x 950px 130K
    Total page size: 454K (Check here:
    www.websiteoptimization.com)
    Website usability experts routinely recommend a maximum page
    size of ~80K
    Check out the We We Scale @ www.FutureNowInc.com/wewe/ where
    they suggest,
    "You speak about yourself approximately 0,003 times as often
    as you speak
    about your customers. Might that have an impact on your
    effectiveness?"
    That is 100% consistent with the #1 Web Design mistake:
    "Believing people
    care about you and your web site." or to phrase more
    expansively, "Our site
    tries to tell you how wonderful we are as a company, but not
    how we're going
    to solve your problems."
    www.sitepoint.com has some excellent books on making a
    website actually
    attractive and usable at the same time.

  • Need help with CS4 transitions

    Hi,
    I am trying to use a cross dissolve transition. To make it simple, I have two clips. I'm obviously doing something wrong here. I've watched the Adobe TV tutorial and all the guy does is to select cross dissolve from the effects box, and drags it over to the clip on the timeline. I think I am doing the exact same thing, but when I play my clip back, I can see no transition effect played back.
    Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong place I thought, so I tried putting it in front of the split between the two clips. Then again at the beginning of the second clip. Neither of them worked, so I shut CS4 down, and booted it up again. I started a new project, and put two new clips in it. I put the dissolve transition at the beginning of the second clip, and it worked like a charm. Then to see if that was a fluke, went to a point about 3 minutes earlier in the timeline. So now I am on clip one. I go and make a cut in the timeline, and try to place another Cross dissolve at this spot. It appears to place the transition there because it creates the rectangular box, and it has the name cross dissolve in that rectangular box,but when I try to play it to see the transition, it isn't working. Go back to the beginning of the second clip, and that one still works perfectly.
    I noticed that there is a difference in the appearance of the two cross dissolve rectangular boxes. The one that works has a single diagonal line that goes from lower left to upper right in the cross dissolve box, and then there are a whole series of diagonal lines that go from upper left to lower right all across the cross dissolve box . It looks like a whole bunch of dark gray and white backslashes. In the one that doesn't work, there is just that single diagonal line that goes from lower left to upper right. No backslashes on this one. What am I doing right in the first one, but not in the second?
    I find that it will work perfectly if I put in a new clip. If I put in the Cross Dissolve at the beginning of a new clip that I add to the timelime,  it will work perfectly. It is only when I try to split a clip that is already on the timeline, and then put the cross dissolve in at that point.
    Perhaps it is not possible to do what I am attempting to do. Maybe you can't split a clip and place the transition at that point?

    When I am shooting video, it is not unusual for me to be taping a scene of a mountain, for example, and then put the camera on pause, while I briefly position myself to take video of the river that is flowing at my feet. That is what is happened on this clip that I am attempting to put the transition in between. Rather than having the scene just instantly change at this point, from the mountain to the river, it would be nice to have a smoother transition then that.
    My mind was working on the problem while sleeping last night, and I think I might understand how to handle it. It might have been too simple for me to think about yesterday. I haven't tried it yet, but would it not work, to insert the mountain scene from my source monitor into the timeline, and then go back and insert the river scene into the time line instead of inserting both of them at the same time. Would these not now be two separate clips on the timeline, and the transition could now be applied?
    Your analogy with the DJ is very good, but it isn't quite the same. You are correct in that he would be only fading from one song to the same spot on the same song. In my case I am going from an image of a mountain to an image of a river. Same clip, but different images. I appreciate the help, and your thoughts.

    From a creative standpoiint, I don't understand the desire to transition from one clip to the exact same spot on that same clip.  That's like a DJ at a night club fading from one song to the exact same spot on that same song being played on a second CD player.  What's the point?
