Need help with Arch on a UEFI problem

hello. big fan of Arch, been using it for a while now.. i got a new laptop and when i tried to install it on the lappy, it just wont take. everything goes smooth
as silk but no matter which bootstrapper i use be it gummiboot, grub, etc. it all says that the image is missing or incorrect. ive tried the install several
times with the same results. ive also tried other linux distros and half of them wont even boot off the cd! the only ones that would install properly is ubuntu
and mint.. and i HAAAAATE ubuntu. can anyone shed some light on what im doing wrong or missing?

sorry, didnt mean to break the rules! yes i boot into UEFI mode.. its a regular install nothing special. i've followed the install guide to a T. the only problem i see to be having trouble with
besides the UEFI is that i use cfdisk to make my partitions and sometimes it screws up.. ive tried using gdisk but it thinks i have 2 hard drives and lists
their size incorrectly. my laptop is an hp 2000. maybe i should do like the guy in the other post and install an OS that will actually boot on it, like ubuntu
and just use it to boot up my arch?

Need help with arch linux install!

Hello, let me start off by telling you about the predicament I'm in at the moment. I've been trying to install arch linux on with a cd-drive that has been failing for a little over a year now, so you can already see where my problem starts! The cd-drive, however will work with such cd's as Windows, Ubuntu, and Slackware, which I'm happy with. Yet, archlinux doesn't work so much.
And now maybe my solution. I've got a usb cd drive, that I've had laying around that works well, just not well enough for my bios to be able to boot from; which is horrible I know. I've searched the bios for loading a usb cd drive and everything else, including google so I don't think I'm going to get anywhere with that one. Anyways what I'm thinking of doing is that when archlinux is in the terminal right before you type the "/arch/setup" command, I would like to know if there is any command that allows you to change the cd it boots the cd from to go right into the installation. I'm still working on easying my out of the newbie stage of linux at the moment, but I've never run into a command like that, that would help me out. Hopefully there is one though, because I would very much like to archlinux to work, so please respond! Right now I'm running elinks through the terminal right before you type "/arch/setup". Thanks!

If your Internet connection is up for it, it seems like you could just choose an FTP install instead.

Once the CD is removed from the drive that it was booted from. the installation will not continue, as the arch install always goes back to the boot drive to continue read the neccessary information for the install. I do not think there is a way to fool the computer into booting from one cd drive and then continueing on with another. To do this you would have to tell the computer that you are switching drives.
If you can boot up the CD kernel and get to where you type in /arch/setup then the next thing I would od is FTP install. That would limit your CD rom drie usage.
There is also a way to install arch from within another distro, EVEN ANOTHER LIVECD! <-- this may be your best bet. Check the wiki, there is tons of information there.

Need help with Rollover Image cross browser problem

Hello,
I am having a cross browser problem with my websites rollover nav links. The trouble is, while they work perfectly fine in IE8 and IE9, I’ve also attempted to use them through Opera, and they simply don’t work. They don’t link nor do they do their rollover effect. And I was trying to figure out what I have done wrong. Currently the site is not completed, but the first two pages are, the “news” and “about me” pages are currently (as of right now) working. When I disable CSS in my browser, the rollover buttons work just fine. This tells me your CSS is messed up and you've layered something over your menus which is making them inaccessible to users.
I noticed you've applied relative positioning to just about everything on your page. Why?   Default CSS positioning (unspecified or static) is all you need for 98% of layouts.

I need help with an email WiFi sending problem on my iPad 2

I’m having an email WiFi sending problem on my iPad 2     Model: MC774C/A; IOS VERSION: 6.1.3 (10B329).
While I use 4 email accounts on the iPad -- Hotmail, Gmail, iCloud and ns.sympatico.ca ( a division of BellAliant) – the sending difficulty only relates to the ns.sympatico.ca. The settings for this account are:         pop.bellaliant.net            and      smtp.bellaliant.net
I first noticed the problem about 3 weeks ago while travelling across the country (Canada). (I do recall about that time there was an update of my IOS and I also for my wife purchased from the Bell store an iPhone which shares my Apple account.) Prior to that everything worked well for a couple of years.
I noticed earlier this month that the iPad received mail fine but would not send at night using the motels’ WiFi. During the day, using my 3G account, all worked fine. I phoned Bell but was told that my experience was normal so I thought no more about it until I returned home and found the same problem at the house. I called Bell again and worked for 2 hours with 3 Bell technicians who succeeded in getting the iPad to neither send nor receive and gave up advising me to take the iPad into a Bell store to have it looked at. I did that and the young technician got the iPad sending and receiving by changing the        smtp.bellaliant.net      to         mail.1xbell.ca
However, when I returned home again, I realized that it was working on my 3G and still doesn’t send on my WiFi
I’m looking for any suggestions that might solve this annoying problem?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

KGlad - need help with arched text again

Hi, you helped me recently with some arhed text. I was trying
to figure out at way to get the arched text font size to get
smaller as more and more letters were entered into the input field.
What would you charge to get something like that working?

1. you wanted the text to start in the center-top of the
output textfield and begin to arch towards the lower right and
lower left symmetrically so the arched text expands from the center
towards the lower corners.
2. you want to start with a certain font and font-size
3. you want to decrease the font-size as more text is entered
in the input textfield just when the arched text begins to extend
beyond the output textfield's borders in order to keep the arched
text within the output textfield's borders.
is that correct? is there anything else?

Need help with Premiere Pro CS6 playback problem

I need help with IPad new update. Problem with download.

Trying to update my IPad and I keep getting message after it is done downloading. "There was a problem downloading the software for IPad. The network connection timed out. Make sure network settings is active." I have my IPad set to never turn off. Can someone help me with this problem?

Have you tried temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed ?

I need help with a permissions or authentication problem

I recently upgraded my Quickbooks application which involved replacing the existing application with a new full version downloaded from Intuit's web site. As soon as I replaced it, it stopped opening. Even reverting to the previous version won't help. It will open if I create a temporary new user and log in as that user. Repairing permission did not help. Something is preventing the application from being authenticated for me (the original user) perhaps? is there perhaps an invisible file that I shoulddelete? Anyone know how I can "reauthenticate" the program? I'm trying to avoid creating a new permanent user and having to move all my files into that. There must be a solution. Needless to say, Intuit was extremely unhelpful. There only sugestion was to log in as a temporary user whenever I need to work in Quickbooks.

I guess I'm talking to myself. In case anyone will eventually read this, I did just figure out a solution. ApplicationEnhancer (and WindowShade X) was the culprit. After excluding Quickbooks from its list, it starts up fine.

Need help with WRT54G - no software and problems with internent

I'm sure I'm asking a common problem which has been answered already, but I couldn't find any solutions and I'm running out of time (re: getting frustrated as hell). I'm trying to set up a wireless network at my home. The internet/desktop/cable modem work fine. However, when I try to run the connection through the router, the connection fails. The appropriate lights on the router all light up, however. Is there something on the pc I need to do/change? Also, the disk drives on the pc don't work, so I can't load the setup software. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Hello, everybody. I'm new to this forum, and arch in general.
I need some help customizing urxvt. I would like it to have a black background against green text, like UNIX sort of, but I would also like semi-transparency.
It would be nice if someone could help. I have xcompmgr running on openbox.
EDIT: Also, volwheel is not showing in my system tray, and I am wondering what is the best desktop pager. Help appreciated.

yes,the sound appear to be the same too when i play on the pc
the noisy sound came from the loudspeaker outlet,

Need help with 865MS-LS MB startup problems

I recently purchased an 865GM2-LS motherboard in order to use with a new computer that I am building. After making sure everything was attached, I tried to boot the system by turning the power on. But, the machine beeped and an error came up, saying that my Bios settings were not correct. I tried to correct them as best I could, and saved the changes and went to boot. After heading past the Extreme Processor page, a flashing white _ on the first line, followed by an all black screen appears. Is there any advice that you can offer me to fix this problem?

First check whether all the power supplies are connected well.Then Please clear cmos and minimize the system( only leave cpu, cpu fan,VGA, memory on the mainboard) to check whether it could boot normally. If this time, it could, please load defaults in the bios.

MMS; didnt get any operator settings for MMS, and can't find any way of creating an MMS. Can someone enlighten me?
Can this thing not be used in portrait mode other than for the phone dial pad?
When connecting to e.g. the wireless network they have in the pub, it wants me to push a button on the router, or type a pin into the router - why can't we just have the old fashioned way of "ask the pub staff what the key is, they tell me, and i type it in" - how do I enter the wpa key as a word without this pin/button pushing nonsense?
How can I type my SMS etc with a 3x3 key pad (like a phone) - I really don't like qwerty on phones.. I'm after a portrait mode, can-be-operated-with-just-a-thumb, 3x3 button layout with predictive text (i.e. like every phone in the history of the world) - how do I do that?
I can't find any form of Switch app (to copy contacts and messages off my old device) - how do we do this painlessly?
How do I make the phone forget all the badly spelled words the previous owner seems to have entered?
Can the thing that organises the main screen snap the icons to a larger grid or must I mess around nudging with the stylus till they line up? (They tend to jump out of line just as I remove the stylus from the screen)

No, use fMMS but be aware it's very beta, only allows picture sending with very rudimentary settings and you must change APN manually

No, apps have to be portrait specific and only dial pad and the browser (experimental) know of it

No - a WONTFIX bug. Configure the connection manually in settings instead and you can type the key

No. Transfer and Sync in Settings can retrieve only what Nokia Content Copier can (contacts, calendar, notes) but it's slightly more painless

Delete the .xxx.dictionary files from /home/user/.osso/dictionaries dir. May need to be root for this, see sites for info on adding repositories, installing rootsh etc

Need help with a download and install problem with PS Elements-Elements opens but Premier has error popup

I purchased PS Elements and Premier Elements through Academic Superstore as a download on Aug. 8, 2014. I am installing on a MAC Book Pro 10.9.4, and have tried reinstalling 3 times. I also searched the error messages on support and could not find the error I am getting. Every time I am able to open the Elements file will open and work, but the Premier file has a window pop up that says: The Following disk images couldn't be opened: Image - PremiereElements_12_WWEFDJ.dmg Reason - image not recognized. Does anyone have a solution?

The problem is when I test it on my computer it works but when I upload it to my phone it freezes when I click Sets Anteriores button.

My first guess is you're simply generating an error. You'll always want to load this on your device in quick debugging over USB so you can see any errors you're generating.
Outside that, if you plan on accessing anything inside the SWF you should be loading the SWF into the correct context. Relevant sample code:

If you're doing this on iOS you'll need to stripped SWFs if you plan on using any coding (ABC) inside the files. You mentioned iOS so I won't get into that here, but just incase, here's info on stripping external SWFs:
