Need help with contact syncing using iCloud. How do I do it?

I deleted LOTS of contacts on my iphone which syncs with icloud but now I want to sync my ipad using the icloud and do not want to have my ipad to override the corrected contact list. How do I do that?

I did a back up as I too am paranoid. I am wondering if there is a way to wipe my contacts from my iPad and then do the merge?
When I was deleting all the contacts from my iPhone I thought it was best to turn off icloud on my iPad. In hindsight I think that was incorrect.

Need help with CONTACT sync example

I have been trying to work with the Sync example that utilizes the MEREP_CONTACT_* BAPI wrappers. Is there anyone who has been able to get this example to work that could give more information on it? I can create the programs, but cannot get data to it. Which SyncType is it supposed to use? What directory do you create the data from MEREP_SAP_EXM002_DATA_GEN1?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

hello brian,
i created the contactaddress test application and used these BAPIs on the backend mapped to syncBos SAP_EXM001 and SAP_EXM002. the basic requirement for this is to deploy your application together with the xml metadata.
after your application is installed in the ME, the framework will automatically send a data download request for syncBos SAP_EXM001 and SAP_EXM002 on the next synchronization. Prior to this, the application tables in the backend like the MEREP_PERSON which is mapped to the syncbo SAP_EXM002 should be filled with data.
use MEREP_SAP_EXM002_DATA_GEN2 and MEREP_SAP_EXM001_DATA_GEN1 to fill-up the tables with data.
you should have at least a data viewer for the corresponding syncbo data on your application.

Need help with contact syncing

Alright, here's my problem. I recently sold my old phone to a friend, and somehow he synced his contacts to my iCloud account. I still have my old contacts in a local backup that I can restore from, but as soon as I turn iCloud back on, it automatically resyncs *FROM* iCloud and I get his contacts again. So my question is, how can I sync my contacts *TO* iCloud from my restored phone without downloading his first?

I tried that. Logged into http://www.icloud.com, deleted all of the contacts, restored my phone so I had all of my old contacts. Right when the restore finished, I went into Settings -> iCloud and it promped me for my password. As soon as I typed in my password, it deleted all of my contacts from my phone (presumably because it synced from an empty iCloud account).

I need help with contacts.

Ok, I just recently got the Iphone 4s. I need some help with contacts. I ended up adding my hotmail contacts to my phone and now every time I add a new contact, it adds the person to my hotmail contacts instead of my All On My Iphone contacts. I don't like it because I am adding phone numbers, not necessarily with email addresses.
If you sent me a message right now and I went in and added you as a contact, it adds you to my hotmail contacts instead of my iphone ones for some reason. How can I fix this? And if I delete my hotmail account temporarily (and re-add it) will I lose the contacts that my phone put in there mistakenly?

Well, I don't care if it makes a back-up of my contacts in my hotmail. But, I would like my contacts to go to my actual phone contacts. I call and text much more than I email and it would be nice to have to not wade through my email contacts to find someone I am looking to text, etc.
I know it's not a huge hassle, but I prefer to keep the people I contact most within my text/phone contacts, rather than email.
Also, if I opt to change my email service (hotmail gets a lot of spam), I don't want to lose phone/text contacts because I no longer use that email anymore.
I wouldn't even care if they appeared in both, for my most contacted. I just would like to have them in my phone book without having to add them all by hand.

I found that in the Mountain Lion Partition that I normally use, that the document data ( Pages, Numbers, etc) would not upload to the cloud... just showed as waiting. All other iCloud Data ( Calendar, Address Book , etc) did sync fine. If I accessed iCloud using a browser or looked on iClould using the iCloud Manage function in the iCloud system preferences, I could see all the files. I then found that I did have another Mountain LIon partition in which the data syncing all worked. Other testing showed that if I did a clone of the working partition using SuperDuper, the clone worked properly, but if I did a clean install of 10.8.4, the document data did not sync.If I did a clean install and used the migration assistant to migrate from the working partition, it still did not work. I later found that if I replaced the top level Library file in a non working partition with the one from the working partition, that I could make the non working partition sync properly. I have not been able to find a subset of the folder that would make things work, but have not tried every combination. At this point my only conclusion is that there must be a bug in the 10.8.4 installer. Apple has been working on this for a few weeks, but has not found anything and cannot duplicate... but they are testing with iMacs.

Need help with contacts

Hi, I've had contacts on my imac for years. then, about 4 years ago, I got an iphone... I help out for a while ;-)
I back my iphone and ipad up to my imac at home. So once I got my iphone, I created a group called iphone contacts as, at the time, I did not want to have EVERY contact I have on my phone. At the time, I felt like there were ones I'd want to keep at home, wanting to just have my family and friends on my phone. So when I backed up, I had a folder I called iphone contacts and that is what backed up to my phone.
Zip forward what feels like a technological millenium, iCloud is working and I'm using my phone much more than I did in the beginning and for more things.
Now I have much of my data backed up to iCloud, such as contacts, calenders, reminders, safari and notes. I don't have mail via iCloud as I use gmail and it does it for me basically.
So today, I got an address update for one of my contacts. I went into contacts on my iphone and edited it with the new snail mail address. Upon arriving home tonight, I decided to back up my iphone and looked at my contacts first, wanting to make sure the new change was there. It is not. I'm not sure why but in looking at my iphone's contacts, I find I have groups that were created due to previous ways of sorting and tracking data and now, with the cloud, it is just a bit confusing. in my contacts on my imac, I see the following categories and groups
at the very top
ALL Contacts (in blue)
On my Mac (in gray)
     All on my mac
iCloud (in gray)
     All iCloud
     Family
     iPhone Contacts
Smart Groups (in gray(
     Last Import
And on my iphone I see three groups
All Contacts
Family
iPhone Contacts
It seems that now that I am using iCloud to hold and sync my contacts, the use of groups is truly more about a mail list.. such as family, so if I want to email all my sibs, etc. So can I just delete all the groups and just have one pool of contacts, which I assume would be ALL CONTACTS, correct?
And then, as I see the need, I can create a group and drag the various contacts to that group?
And if I change info in a contact, will it show up in any group in which that contact is a member?

From Contacts Help. Type in smart groups:
Use Smart Groups
A Smart Group groups contacts automatically based on criteria you specify. For example, group all the members of your swim club by creating a Smart Group for contacts that have “swim” in the notes field. Then every time you enter “swim” in a contact’s notes field, the contact is added automatically to your swim club Smart Group. Smart Groups can include contacts from any account.
Open Contacts
HideCreate a Smart Group
Choose File > New Smart Group.
Enter a name for the Smart Group.
Specify the conditions.
Use the pop-up menus and entry field to set the conditions. Click Add to specify additional conditions.
If you include a group in a condition (by choosing “Card is member of” or “Card is not member of”), you can’t delete that group until you either change the condition or delete the Smart Group that uses the condition.
Click OK.
HideEdit a Smart Group
Select the group, and then choose Edit > Edit Smart Group.
HideRename a Smart Group
Select the group, and then click the group’s name.
Enter a new name, and then press Return.

I have implemented multicast on the network in a hub and spoke topology. i have set up ospf routing protocol and broadcast all network and can successfully ping.
I am currently using VLC player as my media streaming server and client. i have set up rtp streaming from the HUb router using multicast ip 224.2.2.2 and unable to broadcast the multicast traffic across the spokes 1 and 2 PC's
I have never used vlc player never set up multicast network before and i am struggling with this and need help.

Need Help With Military DTD Using FrameMaker 8

I hope someone out there with experience in using Department of Defense DTDs with FrameMaker can contribute to this thread.
Attached is the MIL STD 400051-2 DTD that needs to play with FrameMaker. Does anyone out there know where I could find FrameMaker templates already setup that comply and play with the MIL STD 400051-2 DTD standard? If the Department of Defense is freely distributing the MIL STD 400051-2 DTD, shouldn't somebody in the Department of Defense also be providing MIL STD 400051-2 FrameMaker Templates for free that are already setup? I would greatly appreciate if anyone out there could provide an online source where I could download MIL STD 400051-2 FrameMaker templates.
Lastly, can anyone out there clarify what the purpose of the entities are inside the "Charant" and "Boilerplate" folders? The Department of Defense does not provide a readme file that define what the "Charant" and "Boilerplate" folders are about.

Need help with long sync times - busy optimizing unchanged pictures

Before the latest update I was having a problem with long sync times, often with time spent optimizing pictures that hadn't changed since the last sync. This morning I did the latest update and now it's going on hours updating. Again, optimizing >8000 pics, none of which have changed since yesterday's sync.
Any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks.

Yes I plug the IPOD into the USB port. Today it is a little worse. When I plug it in it will sync for a moment, pop the message that says IPOD IS SYNCED TO ANOTHER COMPUTER DO YOU WANT TO SYNC TO THIS COMPUTER. If I say yes it immediately says FILE NOT FOUND. The whole page locks up and I have to shut the computer down and restart.
Sometimes it just recgonizes the named of the IPOD then immediatel disconnets it. I am so frustrated with this POS and copy protection and all the other things Apple is doing to ensure there songs are not stolen. It is a PAIN and now this...149.00 gone down the tube.

Need Help With Contact Info Before Sync

I just got my first iPhone, I had a treo 700wx before this, and use Outlook 2003 for my contacts. I want to download them to my iPhone but would like to know if I need to make changes to my contact names before I do.
In Outlook and my 700wx the names are list last name first with a comma in between i.e., Doe, John.
When I sync my contacts will the first name end up where it should and the last name where it should, or do I need to change them in Outlook before syncing.

You can set Contacts to display and sort them as you prefer:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (scroll down to Contacts) Sort Order > Last, First or First, Last and Display Order > Last, First or First, Last

I am not very good at this stuff….I created a gmail account and changed the setting on my IPhone to sync with Google…i assumed that would corrcet a previous issue.
After the sync I went into the gmail account and did not find my contacts…

Question is: Can I create a shortcut or alias on the desktop to have fast access to the root of NAS. I could only got one folder by folder as alias to the desktop, but not the NAS itself
you can create a clickable link I use a safari to do this
In the address bar of safari type
smb://user:password@serveradress
replace user:password with your actual username and pasword for that server and use the correct server address. dont press enter but click on the favicon(globe) to the left of the address and drag it to your desktop. This will make a clickable link on your desktop.

Need help with contact recovery

i need some help please
i lost my bb 9900 last week and now am using a bb 8520 that has os 5.0 i believe
supposedly bb protect will not work with this phone so I cannot access my weekly backups from protect website
is there anyway i can transfer those online backups to my home mac computer so i can load to this phone without installing protect app? (it wont let me install on this phone)
if not - can someone from RIM send to me? i can see the backup files on protect website - latest from around when i lost my phone.
the reason for all this is i have many BBM contacts - and previously, i was able to restore using email when i got my 9900 and it loaded successfully - now, when i try retore by email - it states no contacts linked to my email address!
i dont have these bbm contacts on my mac since the last backup on the computer was last year - since then, i have only backed up using protect
i am having no luck at all!!!!

My point was that the Option setting indicated may or may not exist...if it exists, then it needs to be set to NO. If it does not exist, then it is not relevant (which I think is what applies in your case). In any event, since you were able to restore, all is well as far as contacts are concerned.

You have your old BBM PIN? Hmmm...I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Knowing the PIN is just that...knowing the unique PIN that was assigned to your old BB at time of manufacture. But, for obtaining your old BBM contacts, you'd need the actual device or a successful backup that was previously created (either the Desktop Software or via the in-BBM backup method). Knowing only the PIN itself now, I don't see how that applies. Perhaps I do not understand?
Now, if what you did was do the remote in-BBM backup using an email address, then that's a different thing indeed. But I don't exactly know how that works...it may well be that it only works for the exact same BB and not to another BB. I've always used the local file BBM contact backup as I then know for certain that I have control over the backup file.

Need help with startup Sync issue with Photoshop Elements 8.0

When starting up Photoshop Elements 8.0 a brief dialog appears about sync space being filled up with options for Cancel or Proceed. This is then quickly covered up by the frame showing Survey/Show What's New/etc... cannot get back to dialog about sync space. Only way to get into the program is to click on the right arrows in the Welcome to Elements frame, start a tour, click right arrow until Go box is presented and then click on Go. Major PITA to do this. If we are quick, we can click on the initial dialog and click on Cancel or Proceed and get into the program without the covered up frame. We are running PSE8 on Windows 7.
I have shut off sync and still this problem remains.I have been a loyal Adobe product user but this Automatic Sync stuff is really starting to get VERY irritating.

A lot of people are finding the same frustrations. Apparently PSE8 does not let you select start up with the Editor but forces the welcome screen on users. This is a classic case of Adobe not knowing what customers want and giving us what they think we want. It ignores the fact that the majority of users will have upgraded from earlier versions.
You can make quick short cuts. If using windows right click on the desktop, select new short cut then browse to program files, Adobe Photoshop elements and scroll right down the list and click on Editor; then finish.
You can do the same for the organizer and then launch each one independently.
You need to think carefully whether you need to keep everything in sync with Photoshop.com. Several users have found problems when they have quickly used up their free storage capacity and then have to pay Adobe an upgrade fee just to continue using the program, otherwise they are locked out.
