Need help with digital audio out on qip7232

Have seen lots of posts about digital and optical outputs from the QIP 7232. I want to run a digital, stereo, 2 channel LPCM signal out to a stereo receiver. There are posts on this forum that say that both outputs are disabled by Verizin. There are other posts that suggest various settings that could be tried but none of these have been  confirmed to work. I have set the output to Stereo in the regular menu. I have set the output to LPCM in the hidden menu. Still, no audio output. I do have analogue output from the stereo left and right but want to get digital. Can anyone help ? Does anyone have either the digital or optical outputs working? Thank you Jim {Edited for privacy}

toslink cable will also work with MBP.

  • Need help with Conditional Audio

Hello again! So early on into a course, after a couple intro slides, I have a sorting slide to direct users to other parts of a course (self-led learning in a way). However, I have an audio narration that plays on entry to that slide (not slide audio, it plays via advanced actions). I'm trying to figure out a way so that once they have viewed that slide once and heard that audio the first time, any time they get sent back to this sorting slide, they don't hear the audio again. How might this be done?
What I have already tried: I've tried two things, first I set up a variable called Sort_Audio. On exit of the slide previous, Sort_Audio would be assigned a value of 10. On entry to the sorting slide, an advanced action would check if Sort_Audio is equal to 10. If it is, it plays audio (and clears another variable that is unrelated, I just needed to do both things, so I combined them). I have On Exit from the sorting slide an advanced action that resets Sort_Audio to 0 so that when a user gets sent back to that sorting slide, it would theoretically not star the audio. Problem with this in the first place is for some reason it won't even play the audio the first time.
The other thing I tried was quite similar, but instead of assigning values to slides I tried cpInfoLastSlideViewed and equalled it to the name of the previous slide, as well as doing the same thing for cpInfoPreviousSlide. Neither seemed to work.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

The problem is resolved. Using TTS, the audio went onto the slide. I had not removed it from the slide audio so that the Advanced Action could work. Lieve, I got it to work by being extra careful to get each step correct and complete and assuring that the slide didn't have audio attached to it. Rod, I could not get the test project to work with audio attached to a smart shape. I believe it is because I am not controlling visibility of the smart shape--a logic test for another project and another day.
Here is what I finally got to work:
I created a project to get the procedure working before I put it into the big project. Here is a description of the test project.
Slide one has a smart shape (not used as a button) and a button which goes to the next slide. There is slide audio that plays when the slide is viewed.
Slide two has a smart shape that is used as a button to go back to slide one.
First Test with simple Advanced Action (no increment of variable):
    Variable used is called "v_visit"
Conditional advanced action is called "checker"
If v_visit is equal to 0
Then Play Audio "text to audio X" (created with TTS. I also tested it with recorded voice in a second test, "RecordingX.wav")Assign v_visit with 1
    Else Continue
Slide one, on enter, execute Advanced Action "checker"
                        on exit, No Action
Second Test with different Advanced Action (variable increments):
    Variable called "v_counter"
    Advanced Action (conditional) called "menuAudioChecker"
    First condition ("setCounter")
If 1 is equal to 1
    Then Expression v_counter = v_counter + 1
    (Else not used)
    Second condition ("checkCounter")
If v_counter is equal to 1
Then Play Audio "Text to AudioX" or "RecordingX.wav"
    (Else not used)
Slide one, On Enter Execute Advanced Action "menuAudioChecker"
    On Exit, No Action
On this "Second Test" I added a smart shape to display the contents of v_counter and it counts as expected. As Lieve has indicated in other posts, if one desired a different audio to play based on the value of v_counter this would allow that to happen. In my case in the production project I could play audio associated with section 6 when they return to the menu after completing section 6.
Thank you for patiently working with me to resolve this issue (mostly due to my own oversights).
Most importantly, thank you for the excellent Advanced Action model to use for the project.

  • Need Help with "recording" audio to ADAT.

This is what I'm working with. Logic 9 to Saffire Pro 14 interface to Alesis ADAT 24.
I want to "record" audio to the adat. I want to have three tracks in a single song on the ADAT, lines 1,2,3. I have outputs 1,2,3 fromt the interface running to ADAT inputs 1,2,3.
In logic I have the tracks outputs set to mono 1,2,3. the ADAT is picking up all three tracks (all three meters are showing life). However, I am getting no sound out of output 3 (and therefore it is not recording into the ADAT) and I believe that 1 and 2 are coming in as stereo. Anybody know what I am doing wrong? I need this to run our tracks live for our show tomorrow and am having the worst luck!
(p.s. the interface only has four outputs.)

The Saffire comes with a software applet (setup program) doesn't it. Maybe you have to set up the 4 individual outs there, it may be set to send only stereo out.

  • Need help with Digital Certificates when used with Adobe Acrobat

    Hi,
I need some urgent help for one of my project. Any help or
guidence would be very much appreciated...
I am using Digital Certificates with Adobe Reader 6.0 and
above and currently if I want to install the process it requires
around 2 steps. Below are the steps.
Once the install now button is clicked.
Step 1. Click on set contract set.
Step2. Click on first un check box, Adobe 7.0 or Adobe 6.0
    Step3. Click OK,
Now the Question or issue is, I want to make the above
mentioned steps 1 to step2 automated, once a user downloads this
Digital certificate over the Web. Else if I can pre-select the 2
steps for the ease of the user.
Any help to get this automated would be much
appreciated......Do let me know if anybody has any further
    questions...
Pls help...and thanks for helping in advance..much
    appreciated...
    Cheers
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
Since the title of your post refers to Adobe Acrobat, and the
mention of RoboHelp is conspicuously absent, I suspect you are in
the wrong forum. You probably need the Acrobat forum instead.

  • Need Help with Skipping Audio in Slideshows

I'm trying to burn a simple slideshow with iDVD of about 80 pictures, with an overlay .mp3 playing. I made the slideshow, and during the preview, the audio plays fine. But after I burned it, the mp3 skips slightly while the pictures change.
I initially thought the pix were too big, so I scaled them down from 400 to about 150 KB. But the second one had the same problem.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? It seems like what might be causing it is the page flip transition between pix. Is there any way I can keep the transition and get rid of the skipping? Thanks so much for the help.
I'm trying to finish this project ASAP, so thanks for the urgent response with any suggestions.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The disk image with DVD Player worked flawlessly.
That's what to expect from a burned DVD.
This just keeps getting more weird.
Not to me now that you're providing more info.
    Two items of interest:
1.) I then took the DVD to another player in my house and it worked great.
Not all players handle recordable DVDs very well. Especially if they're older than a couple of years. I've had the worst permormance from Toshiba.
2.) The DVDs are DVD-R, Memorex.
TDK and Memorex have BAD track records here.
I recommend a disk image burned to Verbatim DVD-R at 4X or slower using Toast or Disk Utility.
David Pogue also recommends Verbatim on page 356 of his latest book:
iMovie HD & iDVD 6: The Missing Manual
Quoting David: "Cheaper brands don't use the same amount of organic dyes and are more likely to suffer premature deaths."

  • Need help with Digital 8

    Using iMovie 11.
I have imported and edited my Digital 8 movie but have no idea whatsoever how to save/export it. There is no DVD drive on here so I would like to save to a format to store on a hard drive and play on TVs.
    Should I
Export Movie:   Medium, Large, HD720, HD1080
    or
Export using Quicktime:  Movie to - Avi, DV Stream, MPEG 4, Quicktime Movie
    Then which options:
         DVPAL, DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, DVCPro50-NTSC, H.264, Mpeg4 video.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Overwhelmed

In order to play the video on a TV, you need a device connected to your televison.  You need to figure out what device you are going to use to play it back on the TV before you can pick the format.
In the future, you probably don't want to edit interlaced video on iMovie 11.  iMovie 11 removes the interlacing and reduces your resolution.  iMovie 6 is a better option if you can still find it.

  • Hi I need help with extracting audio.

Quick question, I have this music track that is basicaly a repeating beat with guitar riffs that play on top. Is there any way, using Soundbooth, that I can extract the two elements (Beat/Guitar) into seperate tracks so that I could edit them seperatly?
    Thanks
    John

It will definitely be difficult with Soundbooth, and depending on the source file, most other applications as well.  Soundbooth doesn't have a Center Channel Extraction tool like Audition, so your options would be to use a different tool in an unexpected manner, or to perform some time-consuming manual extraction.
If the file is such that the beat exists on one channel and the guitar on the other, select File > Export > Channels to Mono Files.  This is probably not the case, unless it's an old Dylan or Beatles recording.
Second, I might try selecting one loop of the beat with no guitar, and capturing this as a Noise Print.  (Find this under Tasks > Clean Up Audio.)  Once captured, select the entire file and apply a noise reduction.  There is a (very) slight possibility this process will isolate the guitar.  after saving the guitar as a new file, undo the noise reduction so you have your original file again, open the guitar file and capture the entire thing as a noise print, and apply this to the original file in Noise Reduction.  Ideally, you would be left with the beat.  Place these two files on separate tracks in Multitrack and you might get something that resembles the original track, but that allows you to modify levels or place effects on the beat and guitar separately.
Now, odds are very high that this just won't work, either.  The Noise Reduction tool is not a scalpel for removing sounds, but is a fuzzy and dynamic tool to remove audio data that doesn't appear to belong.
You could also go back to your original file, open Soundbooths Spectral Frequency view be selecting Tasks > Remove a Sound, then use the lasso tool to painstakingly select the orange and yellow areas that represent the guitar parts, cut this selection and paste it into a new file of the same duration.  When layered in multitrack, they would sound identical to the original file, but you'd have some control over the beat and the guitar part.  This however, is still not ideal since any frequencies in the beat that overlapped the guitar would be moved to the guitar track.  It would also be a TON of work.
So to save you time, I would highly recommend using a more advanced audio editing tool such as Audition.  If you're using Windows, you can download a free 30-day trial at adobe.com.  Using the center channel extractor effect, you can zero in on where the guitar part is panned in the stereo field and strip it out to a new file.
    Good luck

  • Need help with creating multi out instruments...

What do I do wrong here… I tried to figure this out already since at least 1 year. I am desperate!
Here is what I do while trying to make a multi output instrument in logic studio 9:
    1:I create 1 software instrument:
2: I choose a multi output stereo AU Instrument:
3: I load 5 software instruments, each on its own channel, all in the same Logic Instrument:
4: In the mixer,  I created 5 Aux channels by clicking on the + sign of the Instrument:
5: In the arrange window, I  create 5 new channels from the Track menu with New with Next Midi Channel:
Now when playing  the 1st instrument track, still the sound goes directly to the output 1/2, the Aux sliders don't have any control over the volume. What do I do wrong?
    Hope to find some help,
    André

    Hi
Depending on which version of Kontakt you are using, there are some "automated" ways of creating additional outputs, and assigning each sound to a different output:
    Pic show Kontakt 4
Once you have done that, and (in Logic) loaded a Multi-Out instance of Kontakt, all you have to do is create the additional Aux channels in the mixer (using the small +) at the bottom of the Instrument Channel Strip).

  • Need help with Digital Camcorder compatibility!

I am looking to buy a digital video camera but I am not sure if they are "compatible" with my iMac. My friend just bought the JVC - Everio Digital Camcorder - Model: GZMG330HUS. It comes with Windows software and the manual has a brief mention of how to Backup-Up the video files onto the Mac but no mention of the video format being compatible with Mac. Anyway we tried plugging it into the Mac to see how it responded, and it did not, except that it saw it as a device that we could access the video files to copy then to the Mac hard drive. The Video files have an extendion .MOD and .MOI. Tried double clicking on the MOD (the video itself) and the Mac gave the message that no application exists to run it.
I really want iMovie to recognize it so I can edit the video and make movies to sent to family.
So, my question is whether any of you have tried this? Is there a solution to get this type of camera to be recognized by iMac? Are there other suggestions for compatible cameras in the $400 range (like this JVC is)?
    Thanks in advance.

I had an issue with a JVC customer service rep that caused me to return a JVC camcorder that would not work with my iMac. I have since purchased the Panasonic PV-GS320 mini/dv camcorder.
Fantastic video and absolutely no problems. Recognized through iMovie, iDVD and FCE HD 3.5 via firewire. How-ever, you will have to purchase a firewire cable as it is not supplied with the camcorder.
Also in your price range, around $350.00.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need help with this audio!

Hi! I recently took a video which I then put on my computer (Mac OS X) and I just want the audio from it for my iPod (it has some music on it which I can't find in the iTunes store). I've tried extracting the audio from it using iMovie, but it won't import it with sound for that. It won't play the sound with GarageBand either. It won't let me share it with QuickTime either and I'm not allowed to buy QT Pro (I'm still a teenager and my parents say no) So does anybody know how I can get the sound from my video for my iTunes library and iPod? Thank you if you can help!

Well, I have never tried to do this, but I have an idea. Keep in mind I really don't know if it will work, I am just suggesting it.
I am not sure, but I would think that Adobe Premiere would have this functionality. Obviously you aren't going to buy the whole app (few hundred bucks), but they do offer a 30-day trial, which you might be able to take advantage of.
You also might want to Google something like "extract sound from movie OSX" (or something like that).
    I hope this helps!

  • Need help with skipping audio after upgrading to 10.9.1.

Having read the fine print, I now know that I should not have upgraded to 10.9.1 in the middle of a project.  So, started with a brand new library/event/project and I am still getting dropped out audio.  Video image is fine. When I scrub back and replay a clip, it sometimes plays better but still skips - only in new places.
Tech info: shooting with Canon C-100 converting files through Brosoft MTS (422 HQ - Audio pcm_s161e at 48000hz) using 2010 MacBook Pro with 345gb free on internal with 8gb of RAM and 380gb on Seagate external where files are located.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate.  Oh yeah, happy new year....!

With all the updateing of stuff can you confirm which you changed.

  • I need help with digital painting

I have a sketch that I want to add color to but it always turns out flat-looking (if that makes sense). I can't seem to find any good tutorials online on digital painting. Can anyone give me good tips? This is the sketch.

Chrishonda, I may be missing something but . . Can I say painting in digital is very much like painting in canvas. Have you approached it as putting down some light base color in front of the face, say right cheek there. Brush darker as you move away from the cheek bone toward the temple. less dark as you move toward the nose. Then go back the the cheek bone and put down some lighter tone, right where the light would be reflecting off the cheek bone high spot. In PShop, set your brush options to "Fade" in x pixels, try 25 or maybe 100, depending on size and resolution.
You might check out a post or 'how to' on 'painting on layers with 50 gray fill'.
    and have fun .

  • I need help with the cut out filter.

I have taken photos of a face with bright make up on and i need the filter cutout on the image because i'm trying to use a pop art style. But cut out has one colour scheme so I lose all the bright make up and it becomes all skin tones. After hours of fiddling with the image I managed to get the red lips on the picture in cut out style, but i don't know how i did it and i need to do it to the rest of the eye make up. Can you please tell me how?

    try something like this:
    http://www.catosplace.net/blogs/personal/?tag=cartoon-effects
For your image you might want to try to add Image->Adjustments->Vibrance and add +100 Vibrance to bring out the makeup, then add a Curves adjustment to increase the contrast through the roof and then add both Poster Edges and Cutout from Filter->Artistic

  • Need help with digital photos that turn fuzzy in Final Cut Pro 5

I read the whole thread on using still pictures in FCP 5 without finding a solution to the problem I am having these days. The digit pictures I am using are all around 1632 x 1232 pixels (230 dpi), they are about 43.8% after I drop them onto the timeline and I zoom in to no more than 75%. I don't know why dark colour edges in the pictures look pixelated. The picture quality (sharpness) also does not look not as good as it appears in the viewer. I tried resizing them in photoshop before bringing them onto FCP but that does not improve the picture quality. I also tried various video filters: Shift, de-interlace, but without any satisfactory result.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions on this issue.

It's almost to start guessing because you seem to have tried everything. But we can't tell if you applied these changes or filters properly without watching you or your output.
My main problem is pixelated edges especially when there is a big contrast in colour. <</div>
this could just be what you're stuck with. DV and MPEG2 are terrible codecs for hard edges. Professionally produced DVDs are carefully encoded using bigger-badder tools than you have at your disposal.
Don't resize your images in PS, just bring them in full size and scale them locally in FCP. An image that is 1kx1k will only display about one-fourth of the image in the Canvas at full size because the Canvas only displays about 500x700 pixels.
The scaling algorithm in FCP totally blows but it's a video app and should not be compared to PS. You do not need Photoshop scaling quality, wasted energy. What you DO need is proper motion blur for your moves, a bit of Gaussian to hide the inevitable artifacting.
Open the manual and look up rendering options and render settings and realtime settings. The FCP5 settings offer some interesting options with meaningless descriptions.

  • Need help with GUI lay out HELP PLEASE

hi iam trying to design this GUI for an assignment i cant seem to post pictures so i uploaded the picture of how its suppose to look
    http://ca.geocities.com/shamtu4life2000/layout.jpg
i believe i got the code down correct but the layout is messed up also my teacher specified that the open color area be set at 400x300 i believe i did that correct my problem is the layout i get is jumbled and i dont know if i got the open area panel set correctly
    this is my code
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class colorFrame extends JFrame{

              frame.setSize(500,400);
              frame.setVisible(true);
}if any one got anyideas please let me know below i posted the assignment as background information thanks
The GUI has a JPanel in the center region that displays different colors. All of the other components (3 JCheckboxes, 3 JRadioButtons, and one JButton) are on a JPanel in the south region of the JFrame. We havent yet learned how to make a GUI do anything in response to user generated events, such as mouse clicks. For this question, we just want to practice controlling the appearance of the GUI using layout managers.
In the constructor of your ColorFrame class, create three JCheckbox objects, three JRadioButtons, and one JButton. All you need to know about these classes is that each
one has a constructor that takes one String argument:
    new JCheckbox(Red)
    new JRadioButton(Light)
    new JButton(Show)
We want to use JPanels and layout managers to control the appearance of the GUI. We want the three JCheckboxes to remain together, so we put them on a JPanel. Similarly for the three JRadioButtons put them on another JPanel. We want the JButton to retain its preferred size not to grow to fill an entire region of the GUI --so put it on another JPanel.  These JPanels should use FlowLayout.
We want to put all of these JPanels in the south region of the JFrame, but if we just add them to the frame, one will go on top of the other and well only see the last one that was added. Instead, use one or more additional JPanels with GridLayout to hold the first set of JPanels, then add the JPanels holding all the other components to the JFrame.
You also want to create another instance of JPanel to add to the center region of the JFrame. Unlike the other JPanels, this one wont hold other components; it will display different colors. (You dont have to implement this color display.) When you pack the JFrame, the other JPanels will become large enough to hold the other components they contain, but since this one holds no components, it would shrink to zero by default. To prevent this, you should set its preferred size to some non-zero value, say 400 x 300 pixels.
Your class should have a main method that calls the constructor tocreate an instance of this class, sets its size using pack, sets its default close operation, and makes it visible.

You have set the container layout to FlowLayout, but you then try to place panels using the BorderLayout constants, you should use BorderLayout on the container.
