Need help with DVD model/Firmware update info

I am sorry to post here but have found no other way to try and get help or information about a Toshiba, (supposedly) slim style internal DVDRW unit, TS-632H, for our computer.  The label on the unit says Toshiba Samsung, and the complete number on the label is Tsst corp CDDVDW TS-632-H. (This is what is also shows in Device Manager/Properties for the unit.  We are trying to find the (real) model of this unit so we can determine the firmware version to make sure we have the latest version on the unit and to see if there are any specific drivers for the unit.  Thank you for your help and again, sorry if this may be the wrong forum and maybe directing us to an appropriate forum would be appreciated if there is such one.  Thank you.

    Under your battery, there's a product code on a sticker (X: 0586707). Go here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update and type in your productcode to see if there should be an update for your productcode. If there's not, you could take your phone to a Nokia Carepoint and ask if they could do it - no promises. Or else you have to wait untill your productcode gets it.

  • Need Help with DVD recorder (HDMI) to record off DVR

    I purchased a philips dvd recorder a few years ago and need  help in setting up to record my DVR program recordings. The philips user manual is not very helpful being I'm trying to set-up with just using HDMI cables.  I have a HDTV (Vizio) with a HDMI port; a DVD recorder with HDMI port and my Verizon set-top box have a HDMI port.  How do i get it all to work and be able to record/copy programs from DVR to my DVD recorder?   Do anyone have suggestions on how to set up wiring.  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    First keep in mind that DVD is not an HD format, so you will not be able to record HD shows in HD; they will be in letterboxed 4:3.
    The FiOS STB only has one HDMI (out) port. Therefore, you will need to use some other output from the STB to the DVD recorder. Component, or even composite/RCA, because it's not going to record in HD anyway to DVD, will work just fine. Then you want to set your DVD player to whatever input you used to connect from the STB; i.e. mine uses "Input 1" for my composite connection.
    If you turn on your STB and DVD, this will record whatever the STB is outputting to a DVD if you press record on the DVD recorder. This includes all of the program menus and any other on-screen graphics on the STB, and this means you cannot change the channel if you are recording from your STB. You can shut your TV off, but you will not be able to watch another show while recording one to DVD.
    Your DVD player might give you an HDCP message at first when the recording starts if it's getting an HD input, but that should go away after a few seconds, at least for my Panasonic DVD recorder with a composite connection.

  • Need help with Toshiba model 42TL515U TV FAN

    I recently had an error message pop up on the tv that says the tv fan went out. The tv has worked perfectly since i purchased it untill now. I'm very unhappy about it since i have taken great care of it the entire time and it is not my fault but toshibas for selling me the tv with a faulty internal fan and OF COURSE it tells me fan went out after my warranty just ended. I need help, answers and customer support because this is rediculous...

    If there truly is a fan in the TL515U you can easily open up the TV, look at the fan specs, and replace it.
    I bet the fan used in it are the ones used in computers.

    You cannot reference a column inside a record when doin a for all. You need to refer as a whole collection . So you will need two collections.
    Try like this,
    DECLARE
       CURSOR cur_hhlds_for_update
       IS
          SELECT hsh.household_id, hsh.special_handling_type_id
            FROM compas.household_special_handling hsh, scr_id_lookup s
           WHERE hsh.household_id = s.ID
             AND s.scr = v_scr
             AND s.run_date = TRUNC (SYSDATE)
             AND effective_date IS NULL
             AND special_handling_type_id = 1
             AND created_by != v_user;
       TYPE arr_household_id IS TABLE OF HOUSEHOLD_SPECIAL_HANDLING.household_id%TYPE
                                   INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
       TYPE arr_spec_handl_type_id IS TABLE OF HOUSEHOLD_SPECIAL_HANDLING.SPECIAL_HANDLING_TYPE_ID%TYPE
                                         INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
       l_household_id_col         arr_household_id;
       l_spec_handl_type_id_col   arr_spec_handl_type_id;
    BEGIN
       OPEN cur_hhlds_for_update;
       LOOP
          FETCH cur_hhlds_for_update
            BULK COLLECT INTO l_household_id_col, l_spec_handl_type_id_col
          LIMIT 1000;
          EXIT WHEN cur_hhlds_for_update%NOTFOUND;
          FORALL i IN l_household_id_col.FIRST .. l_household_id_col.LAST
             UPDATE compas.household_special_handling
                SET effective_date = TRUNC (SYSDATE),
                    last_modified_by = v_user,
                    last_modified_date = SYSDATE
              WHERE household_id = l_household_id_col(i)
                AND special_handling_type_id = l_spec_handl_type_id_col(i);
       --l_special_handling_update_cnt := l_special_handling_update_cnt + SQL%ROWCOUNT; -- Not sure what this does.

  • Need help with Data Model for Private Messaging

    Sad to say, but it looks like I just really screwed up the design of my Private Messaging (PM) module...  *sigh*
    What looked good on paper doesn't seem to be practical in application.
    I am hoping some of you Oracle gurus can help me come up with a better design!!
    Here is my current design...
    member -||-----0<- private_msg_recipient ->0------||- private_msg
    MEMBER table
    - id
    - email
    - username
    - first_name
    PRIVATE_MSG_RECIPIENT table
    - id
    - member_id_to
    - message_id
    - flag
    - created_on
    - updated_on
    - read_on
    - deleted_on
    - purged_on
    PRIVATE_MSG table
    - id
    - member_id_from
    - subject
    - body
    - flag
    - sent_on
    - updated_on
    - sender_deleted_on
    - sender_purged_on
    ***Short explanation of how the application currently works...
    - Sender creates a PM and sends it to a Recipient.
    - The PM appears in the Sender's "Sent" folder in my website
    - The PM also appears in the Recipient's "Incoming" folder.
    - If the Recipient deletes the PM, I set "deleted_on" and my code moves the PM from Recipient's "Inbox" to the "Trash" folder.  (Record doesn't actually move!)
    - If the Recipient "permanently deletes" the PM from his/her "Trash", I set "purged_on" and my code removes the PM from the Recipient's Message Center.  (Record still in database!)
    - If the Sender deletes the PM, I set "sender_deleted_on" and my code moves the PM from the Sender's "Sent" folder to the "Trash" folder.  (Record doesn't actually move!)
    - If the Recipient "permanently deletes" the PM from his/her "Trash", I set "sender_purged_on" and my code removes the PM from the Sender's Message Center.  (Record still in database!)
    Here are my problems...
    1.) I can't store PM's forever.
    2.) Because of my design, the Sender really owns the PM, and if I add code to REMOVE the PM from the database once it has a "sender_purged_on" value, then that would in essence remove the PM from the Recipient's Inbox as well!!
    In order to remove a PM from the database, I would have to make sure that *both* the Recipient has "purged_on" value and the Sender has a "sender_purged_on" value.  (Lot's of Application Logic for something which should be simple?!)
    I am wondering if I need to change my Data Model to something that allows my autonomy when it comes to the Sender and/or the Recipient deleting the PM for good...
    One the other hand, I believe I did a good job or normalizing the data.  And my current Data Model is the most efficient when it comes to saving storage space and not having dups.
    Maybe I do indeed just need need to write application logic - or a cron job - which checks to make sure that *both* the Sender an Recipient have deleted the PM before it actually flushes it out of my database to free up space?!
    Of course, if one party sits on their PM's forever, then I can never clear things out of my database to free up space...
    What should I do??
    Some expert advice would be welcome!!
    Sincerely,
    Debbie

    rp0428,
    I think I am starting to see my evil ways and where I went wrong...
    > Unfortunately his design is just as denormalized as yours
    I see that now.  My bad!!
    > the last two columns have NOTHING to do with the message itself so do NOT belong in a normalized table.
    > And his design:
    >
    > Same comment - those last two columns also have NOTHING to do with the message itself.
    Right.
    > The message table should just have columns directly related to the message. It is a list of unique messages: no more, no less.
    Right.
    > Mark gave you hints to the proper normalized design using an INTERSECT table.
    > that table might list: sender, recipient, sender_delete_flag, recipient_delete_flag.
    > As mark suggested you could also have one or two DATEs related to when the delete flags were set. I would just make the columns DATE fields.
    >
    > Once both date columns have a value you can delete the message (or delete all messages older than 30+ days).
    >
    > When both flags are set you can delete the message itself that references the sender and the message sent.
    Okay, how does this revised design look...
    MEMBER --||-----0<-- PM_DISTRIBUTION -->0-------||-- PRIVATE_MSG
    MEMBER table
    - id
    - email
    - username
    - first_name
    and so on...
    PM_DISTRIBUTION table (Maybe you can think of a better name??)
    - id
    - private_msg_id
    - sender_id
    - recipient_id
    - sender_flag
    - sender_deleted_on
    - sender_purged_on
    - recipient_flag
    - recipient_read_on
    - recipient_deleted_on
    - recipient_purged_on
    PRIVATE_MSG
    - id
    - subject
    - body
    - sent_on
    Is that what you were describing to me?
    Quickly reflecting on this new design...
    1.) It should now be in 3rd Normal Form, right?
    2.) It should allow the Sender and Recipient to freely and independently "delete" or "purge" a PM with no impact on the other party, right?
    Here are a few Potential Issues that I see, though...
    a.) What is to stop there from being TWO SENDERS of a PM?
    In retrospect, that is why I originally stuck "member_id_from" in the PRIVATE_MSG table!!  The logic being, that a PM only ever has *one* Sender.
    I guess I would have to add either Application Logic, or Database Logic, or both to ensure that a given PM never has more than one Sender, right?
    b.) If the design above is what you were hinting at, and if it is thus "correct", then is there any conflict with my Business Rule: "Any given User shall only be allowed 100 Messages between his/her Incoming, Sent and Trash folders."
    Because the Sender is no longer "tightly bound" to the PRIVATE_MSG, in my scenario above...
    Debbie could send 100 PM's, hit her quota, then turn around and delete and purge all 100 Sent PM's and that should in no way impact the 100 PM's sitting in other Users' Inboxes, right??
    I think this works like I want...
    Sincerely,
    Debbie

    Got the PC put together and WinXP loaded with no problems, loaded several programs using both the DVD and CDRW. I had some issues with Microsoft Picture It and Norton WinDoctor, this was a known issue and I downloaded a fix from MS that removes a registry entry so windoctor will be happy. I've done this before on my other xp pc's with no problems. All of a sudden when I put a program disk into either the DVD or CDRW I get an error message saying windows cannot read from this disk, it is corrupt or incorrectly formatted. If I put in an audio cd both drives will work. I've checked the device manager and no errors that I see there, both drives are detected in the bios and properly listed by windows. I've downloaded the latest MDAC update (2.8), now if I have a game disk in the drive and reboot windows will be able to read the disk. if I open the drive and close or replace with another disk then I get the error message again. I don't think it's a problem with the drives. they're brand new and it's unlikely both will fail at the same time plus I have gotten them to work. The problem now is if I go to change a disk windows cannot read the disk unless I reboot with the disks in. It's gotta be a windows problem but everything looks to be working as it should, any ideas??

    Well, you could try doing a crc check of the cd using crc.exe.  It's been of great use to me recently.
    open up a command window, switch to the directory where you've extracted crc.exe and run (change x to your cd/dvd drive letter):

  • Need Help With Capturing EDirectory/IChain User Info

    After 8 years, we were finally able to get our production ColdFusion MX7 server, working with the company's EDirectory server.  EDirectory now authenticates users, based on their job title, job class, job group, etc.  We provided our IS (Information Security) department with the job codes and report names, directories, etc., that each employee (job code) can access.  Previously, we used "passwords" to limit access to more confidential reports to select management employees.
    There are only a few CF servers in our company, so the IS (Information Security) department is not familiar with how to use ColdFusion to "capture" user information that they say is being passed "back" to the CF server, after each user's query/report request.   IS says about a dozen variables are being passed in the header, back to the CF server, including EMPLOYEE NAME, LOCATION, etc.
    I'm trying to figure out how to capture that info, and use it to greet the user "by name" when they connect to our CF report server. And to also maintain a log file of which locations and employees are accessing our web reports.  Today, we use the SQL Server logs, which only contain the IP address and URL information "sent" (not returned), to know how often certain reports are being requested.  But we don't know by who, or by which locations.
    One person in IS recommended using CFHTTP, and I've tried it, but don't seem to be able to pull the variables off the header.  I thought using CFLDAP might work, but doesn't.  If anyone is in a similar situation, and knows how best to pull this info from the header info coming from EDirectory, I would apppreciate some advice.  Just knowing if CFLDAP or CFHTTP will work, or if something else is required.  Just trying to get on the right footing, at the moment.  Thank you,
    Gary1

    Thanks for the reply.  I was actually hoping the I-Chain/EDirectory variables would be available as CGI variables.  Here are some of the CGI variables I tried to retrieve from the header.  As you can see, only two contained values.  There must be some other way to obtain these.  I'd played around with CFLDAP, CFHTTP, etc.  No such luck.  But as mentioned, the IS dept says the values I'm looking for (UserID, Name, Location, etc.) are all being sent in every header (every response from the server).  Am just not sure which CF tags/tools to use to capture them.  Maybe it requires some special script.  I tried a few of those found in the CF7 on-line help, but no luck in getting the scripts to run.  If any other thoughts or suggestions, they would be much appreciated.  Thanks again, Gary1.

  • Need help with fillling backing bean w/info

    I am new to JSP and have some very basic questions regarding filling a JSF with data from the database and then allowing the user to edit and save the data back to the database.
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 developer preview
    This is what I have so far (which may be suspect in itself):
    1. A method called DatabaseUtil.getProductApproval(productApprovalNbr) which creates and returns a ProductApprovalBean
    2. A JSF called search.jsp with backing bean Search.java.
    3. Another JSF called productApproval.jsp with backing bean ProductApproval.java
    4. Successful navigation defined from search.jsp to productApproval.jsp
    5. The backing bean Search.java has a SearchButton_action that returns success if productApprovalNbr specified is OK (edit currently hard-coded)
    6. The productApproval.jsp has a component called productApprovalNbr with binding to backing_search.productApprovalNbr
    This is want I want to do but don’t know how:
    1. Make a call to create the ProductApprovalBean and fill the productApproval.jsp backing bean with info from ProductApprovalBean before the productApproval.jsp is displayed to the user.
    2. Allow the user to change values and save them back to the db after clicking on the save command button.
    How do I wire this stuff up?
    Any advice will be greatly appreciated because I am stuck big time.
    Regards,
    Al Malin

    Thanks for the reply Brian.
    I’ve looked at directly binding to the ProductApprovalBean and that looks like a good approach to take in other cases but for the UI design I currently have I am not sure.
    Basically, the ProductApprovalBean is a master entity with several related detail entities. This is so because the user wants to see all of the related data on a single page instead of showing one page for a master, another for a detail, another for another detail, etc. So I am designing a JSF form that consists of multiple sections, each section presenting an entity. Each detail section would have its own command buttons for editing, adding, and deleting rows.
    Since my first post I have figured out how to fire an event in search.jsp and catch it in an event handler in the backing_bean. (This was great progress --- only took me 9 hours to write 6 lines of code. :-) From here I figured I could access the db and load up the fields for the first screen and do updates with the subsequent screens.
    After looking through the documentation, I not sure I’m up to the task. New problem, I don’t know the JSF classes well enough to load up the fields, and after they are loaded, how do I get the data out. (At first, JSF looked really slick but there has been a steep leaning curve associated with it, I'm real close to reverting to JSPs and servlets.)
    If I am on the wrong path and this approach is all wet, please say so.
    Regards,
    Al Malin

  • Need help with Java MIDI and VST info

    I am currently a college student for programming and I know programming very well, but for this current task, I am completely stuck. This is not a school project or work, just a personal project I'm working on at the moment to learn more about Java.
    What I am trying to create is a VST (Virtual Studio Synthesizer) using Java for use in music programs such as FL Studio, Sonar, Ableton, and so on. I did alot of Googling and found the following program:
    [http://jvaptools.sourceforge.net/index.html]
    I got it working, but it's not quite what I am looking for (it's more like an on-site editor that you enter code into and then run it). I want to create a VST from scratch and learn what each thing means in the program. I've done some research on MIDI input and output and found the following in the Java documentation:
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/sound/midi/MidiDevice.html]
    I figured I'm on track of what I'm looking for, but the problem is that the Java documentation simply sucks. It has no examples of code, how the functions work, and how I'm suppose to use them.
    First off, I want to start with the extreme bare basics. Is it even possible to do a VST in JUST Java? I've seen and used examples of obtaining data from a MIDI file and playing it, but that's not what I'm trying to do. Second, how would I take MIDI data from a music program running the VST and enter the data into a text box? Once I'm able to do that, I should be able to work with the data to produce audio output.
    My program I am attempting to make is a guitar synthesizer that I can run in music programs as a VST. If anyone around here knows anything about MIDI and VST plugins, please, post some example code and help point me in the right direction to creating something. I'm not looking to use other people's programs or code, I want to make something myself from scratch but I don't know where to start!

    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I have found the solution for cases in which you cannot update your JRE to anything further than 1.5. You will have to create an extra entry in the Java tzmappings file as follows:
    Venezuela Standard Time:90,90::America/Caracas:After doing this, you will have to create a new String Value in your Windows registry for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\Venezuela Standard Time Key as follows:
    Name: MapID
    Value: 90,90
    Best regards.

  • Z68-GD65 G3 Need help with half bricked BIOS update

    Sorry if this should be in the BIOS forum, wasn't 100% sure.  Long story short...
    i2600k
    16GB Corsair Ram
    Crucial M 128GB
    GTX460
    I was trying to update the board to the latest BIOS.  I didn't realize the file/method from the MSI website was so problematic.  I ran E7681vP8.exe from within windows, the BIOS was updated and it then rebooted the system to update to ME8.  It never got to the ME update and I was stuck in an infinite reboot loop.  Power on for 10 seconds, then off, then back on again.  Tried everything I could think of to get the system back.  Cleared CMOS via button and battery, no change.  Rotates ram sticks in slot 2, disconnected everything but USB keyboard and plugged the monitor into the DVI port on the board, no change.  This was last night and I had already setup my RMA when I decided to try one more CMOS clear this morning before packaging everything up.  Well the Gremlins decided to let it power on and POST this morning!  I hit F1 to enter setup and here is the problem...
    It's now asking me to insert my USB key I'm assuming to now do the ME8 update... Well I formatted the USB drive I was using with the forum tool last night in an attempt to revive the board, so I don't have the extracted files from the MSI EXE from the website.
    I downloaded the EXE again, but I can't get it to run/extract the files since it's only set to run on this board (I'm on a Lenovo laptop).  I tried  WinRAR, 7-Zip, and Universal Extractor on the EXE to try and just get the files back on the USB.  None of those work.
    So the system is on and I'm stuck at the screen asking for the USB key.  I don't want to power it off/cycle it in case that screws up the update somehow.
    Can someone else with this board download the EXE directly from MSI, run it on a USB key (you don't have to update the BIOS to get the files to extract) and maybe upload the contents?  Or Mods do you have another suggestion on how to continue?
    Thanks!

    Well I'm REALLY regretting upgrading to this BIOS as it's killed my overclock :(
    Before I was stable with a 2600k @ 4.5Ghz with just 1.325 vcore.  Now I'm up to 1.35 vcore and I'm still not stable :(  Keep getting this BSOD:
    "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated interval".
    IBT and prime95 keep causing that BSOD.  I don't understand why the BIOS update is requiring such a huge increase in vcore.
    Because it is a 'compromise' UEFI/BIOS designed to allow function of both Sandy and Ivy CPUs on a mainboard originally designed on the Sandy Bridge platform. It's a shame that the GD65(G3) Ivy update does not function as well as the GD80(G3) vJ21 version does.
