Need help with export settings...Please
I am brand new to the camera I have but been using FCP for 6 years. The camera is a Panasonic HMC150 that records in the AVCHD codec. I have an Intel Imac 20 2.4 Ghz 4 gigs of ram. My audio/video settings for the sequence in FCP are as follows:
Sequence pre set: Apple pro Res 422 1920-1080 60i 48khz (footage is 1080 60i)
I Log and Transfer with no problem, edit no problem.
My question is when I go to export the finished sequence to Idvd or DSP, what settings do I use?
I have exported to quicktime movie file with "current settings" and I have had NO luck in compleely burning a DVD. Is this the correct setting? what is everyone else using? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
DVD is standard definition. You have to compress your HD material to SD first. Crack open the manual for Compressor or DVDSP and you'll get loads of valuable info. The first 30 or so pages of the DVDSP manual are quite informative, and easy to read.

Hi everyone,
I need help outputting an HD file for presenting a video to a client. I have tried exporting to HD .mov (H.264 codec) and PE keeps crashing (error compiling movie). From what I’ve read here, it’s due to the gargantuan file QT creates and HD space (even though I think I have enough HD available).
So, I need a recommendation from you on what kind of file to output which will allow me to present the movie to the client in HD. This file is solely for the presentation, I have already published for web (FLV) and YouTube (direct share from PE) and they both worked fine.
Here are my project specs:
Timeline: 4:26
Format: 1920 X 1080 HD
Timebase: 29.97 frames per second
OS: Windows XP SP3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz
RAM: 4GB
Project Drive: 250GB disk with 152GB free space internal dedicated project drive (separate from OS)

I wanted to follow-up on this post. I came into the office today to run a few tests so I can make sure that I have the correct settings on my camera and PE project for the next time around. Here are few observations I was wondering if you can comment on:
My Sony camera cannot shoot HDV. The only format it supports is AVCHD, so I'm stuck converting.
I tried to convert the footage I have to HDV with the software I have (AVS Video Converter and Koyote Soft HD Converter) and neither of the two have an "HDV" conversion setting. I see AVI, MPEG, MOV and many different settings in each (AVI: Hd Video 1080p: H.264AVC, 29.97fps, 4200kbps, Audio MP3, 256 kbps or MPEG: HD Video 1080p - MPEG2, 15000 kbps, 1920X1080, 29.97fps, etc). What should I be looking for?
I searched for "best file format" in the forum and found various postings from both of you referring to converting to DV-AVI within PE; especially if you have AVCHD footage (which I have). So, I followed directions and converted a file for testing. Then, I created a new project using HDV 1080i 30 settings and imported the converted file. I still get a red line on the timeline. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
I also converted the MOV files (shot in HDV 60i with the pro camera) to DV-AVI. I also get a red line on the timeline...
The DV-AVI converted footage (both cases) doesn't appear to be HD. It looks jagged on the preview window. Is it HD?
The DV-AVI converted footage is almost double the file size as the MTS (AVCHAD) file (138mb vs. 60mb). Isn't that going to make PE run slower?

I have searched the forum only to become more confused. I shot and edited my first HD project and am ready to burn it. What are the settings needed by DVDSP for my FCP export?
FCP 6.0.5
OSX 10.5.6
1080iExport to 16:9 SD m2v.
Usually I use self contained with an uncompressed Codec then bring that into Compressor to use Virtual Clusters. Start with a Compressor preset that is 16:9 SD that fits the footage (in other words if the video is 67 minutes, start with the 90 Minutes) and adjust frame filters to resize "better"

ElisabethOpen the email and then from the File menu select Save As Rich Text Format. That'll save it to open in TextEdit. If you want a pdf then open the email and do command-p (Print) and then from the PDF drop down box lower left corner select Save as PDF.

Need help with Portal Themes -- Please help
I need help with Portal Themes. I have read every document I can find but I am having no luck. All I want to do is change the colors for the Exceptions on one of my queries. I have created my own Portal Theme where I have changed the colors but I do not know how to assign my newly-created Portal Theme to my query. Need help with Export workflow.
Hello again.
Today I was experimenting with exporting a project using Export QT Movie and QT Conversion.
My goal is to show a QT project on the web, either 640x480 or 320xx240, depending on how monstrous the file size is.
My initial impression was that export QT Movie simply generates (I'm guessing) a full size rendering of the project. It's icon is a FC icon. What I did then was an "Open with..." quicktime(pro). This is where I get confused: I know that the next steps are for for preparing the project for sizes, compressions and so on. The export to QT movie seems to be a longer route to get to the settings that you need to use in QT Conversion, which after selecting QT conversion, you have the Format, Use, and Options settings.
Am I right so far?
Some background about my project- Easy setup= DV-NTSC. If I look in my browser, my clips are 720x480, 29.97fps, Compressor(?)DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, pixel aspect ratio, NTSC-CCIR 601 and anamorphic is checked.
I also have still photos motion control stuff, PS tiffs, that do not have anamorphic checked.
Form here on is where I get confused.
Under settings, I am selecting DV/dvc-NTSC for compression frame rate 29.97, medium compressor, scan mode, interlaced, and aspect 4:3.
The filters setting I don't use.
The size setting I'm trying 320x240 with aspect ratio and de interlace video UNCHECKED.
Is this a good workflow for the web. I notice on 640x480 my titles (livetype) seem kind of jagged.
Any help preparing a project for the web would be appreciated. If you need more info let me know.

In terms of profile, as I mentioned, the intermediates will be going off to the editor (off-site) for editing on his FCP suite. I'll stick to working in the prescribed HDTV (Rec. 709) space, and I've given him all the detail I can of how I'm working, but crucially I haven't stood at his edit-suite to see how the stuff looks.
But, he's no newbie, so I'm hoping it'll be OK.
Blasted shame about the H.264 BluRay not being compatible with QT - I thought I had this whole issue beat until that came along. It's not a matter of disk space here, but the editor is mithering that the intermediates we are testing, in either PNG, or Animation, and a couple of others, are choking his playback.
I'm not sure what to say about that, other than to go down this road of trying to squish these intermediates as low as possible without wrecking the look, hence finding that the DNxHD is providing the best solution. If it had been a SD project, I might well have tried the native H.264, even over our normal PNG workflow.
So what will play the native H.264 BluRay compressed output?

I'm currently trying to program a infrared furnace. I'm setting a temperature, subtracted my set temperature from the actual temperature (thermocouple hooked up to SCB-68), and voltage is being sent to the controller of the furnace accordingly. However, I need to hold the set temperature for a certain amount of time. I need help programming this: when the VI reads the set temperature from the thermocouple, it results in a timer running down. When the timer runs down to 0, the While Loop ends. I'm thinking case structures is most appropriate, but if you have a better suggestion, please let me know.

The state machine would keep track of the temperature and making ajustments on a timely basis.
There is a template of a state machine is you select under the File menu > New > From Template.
You can also look under Help > Find Example > and do a search for state machine.
There are lots of state machine examples on this forum, some of which may be quite useful.

Need Help with Export to ePub in CS5.5
I am working on my first ePub in InDesign 5.5. When I go to File—Export for— there is no option for ePub. In fact there is only "Buzzword" and it grayed out. How do I get export for epub?
In InDesign CS 5.5, it's File > Export > EPUB.
However, if this is new for you, if you haven't prepared your file properly, it may come out like mush.
You need to prepare export order, styling of paragraph styles, character styles and object styles, you need to create a TOC style, there are many steps.

I need HELP with exporting videos with PIP from Premiere Elements 11 to YouTube please?
When I am editing and rendering videos that have picture-in-picture using Premiere Elements 11, the videos (once they've been uploaded to YouTube) have these thick black margins above and below the picture-in-picture images/videos. These margins are not visible when the videos are viewed using Premiere Elements but then they appear when the video is on YouTube. How can I prevent this? Is this a format issue? Thanks.

Can you tell us exactly how you created your PiP, please?
Knowing the specs. of both your background Video (and your Project Settings), plus the specs. of the Video used in the PiP, will likely be useful.
Also, seeing a screen-cap of your Timeline, at the point of the PiP, might be useful too.

I am having probs with my new setup and I am at a wits end of what to do so i'll explain my problem.
I have just bought a AMD athlon 2800+ cpu for my mobo (KT3 ultra 6830e v.1.0)
and I am unable to run the chip at correct speed??
The bios wont boot the computer if I try to set the fsb for cpu at 166 ?? Am I correct in thinking that a 2800+ Athlon needs to be run at 166fsb to get the 333fsb setting?
I am currently running it at 133fsb and it is registering it as a AMD 2200+ chip ???
I am quite new to playing about with my bios but at the moment it is set at defaults on everything because i had to reset the cmos jumper about 8 times last night after trying different settings, in the end i gave up and thought i'd ask u guys for help???? Please !!!
I spoke to the shop i bought the chip from and we got talking about that when i set the fsb for chip to 166 it changed the ram settings to host clock + 66 (host clock was set at 100mhz) thus trying to make my 2100 ram(266) run at 2700(333) specs ?
Is this the problem why my computer wont boot when it is set to 166 fsb cuz it is asking the ram to be 333ddr when it isn't???
Is my problem going to be solved if i purchase some 2700 ram ?? if so i'll be quite happy, or is my board just not capable of running this 2800+ cpu on it???
i read up b4 i bought the cpu and i thought i was able to run this chip maybe i read wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated , oh i also flashed my bios to the most recent msi update which was 5.7 i think (AMI bios) and the flash was succesfull (LOL) very worrying!!!!

Davei have just had a look around the net and it looks like there are two versions of the 2600+ available one with 133/266fsb support and the other with 333fsb ???
Do u know that if i take my 2800+ back to the shop and change it for a 2600+ cpu if i should just get a normal one(133/266fsb) or get the 333fsb version???
as that link u posted for the mobo supported cpus only lists the 2600+ as being a 133/266fsb chip ???
I will get some 333ddr ram as well just incase i need this to allow the 2600+ to run correctly
Also (sorry to be a pain) but can you explain to me how to change the multipliers correctly to get full power from the chip ?? as i read that a 2600+ comes out at 1.91ghz standard , but i was reading a review where the user was told by AMD that it will run higher by changing fsb or multipliers (or both?) ???
Do u have to set the fsb to 133 and then change the multiplier to a value to up the speed or just keep changing the fsb alone and leave the multipliers alone ????

Need help with preserving quality, please!
I am new to this, but learning.
I have old 8mm footage that I paid to have converted to DVD.
First I copied the .vob files from the disk to my hard drive then converted to DV with mpeg streamclip.
I then chose the Deinterlace option to remove artifacts that I was getting when I didnt choose this option. Here is a screenshot of the exact settings I used.
The process went fine and I had the huge DV files to import into Final Cut to edit. After finishing my project and exporting I noticed the video had these square looking pixels. I then when back to take a look at the original DV files to compare and they were there but less evident. Here is a picture of the video inside my FC project.
What did I do wrong? I thought converting to DV would keep my original quality? Is there some other setting i should have used with mpeg streamclip?
Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to finish this up for the family by Christmas and it's kicking my butt!!I see a couple of issues... First, red is a hard color to control. It bleeds all over the place.
Second - to help explain how a dvd video works takes more time than just what I'm about to say... but think of it this way:
You noticed that the files are 4x bigger in DV world (actually probably a bit more than that). Well, here's why - when a dvd is made it looks at frame 1 - then, for the next 10 frames it says... what is DIFFERENT from frame 1 and only changes THOSE pixels. Then looks at frame 10 and does the same for the next 10 frames. (Not exactly, but close enough).
So - you have one FULL frame of information and then a bunch of FRAME-ETTEs with bits (bytes) of information. You've already LOST (bye-bye) 3/4 of the information in the original material.... hence the small file sizes.
When you convert a DVD (mpeg2 compression (VOB)) back to DV (yes, dv is already a compression), DV needs all of those full frames back. MPegStreamclip adds that information that was thrown away - wait, that's not correct... it KEEPS the FULL FRAME information across each of the FRAME-ETTEs... NOT the original information remember, because it was already thrown away!!
Editing platforms like FCP NEED all of those frames to edit. It cannot (well, mostly) edit on those frame-ettes.
I guess what I'm saying is... you have the film... went to dvd-mpeg2 conversion/compression... 3/4ths of the 'non-vital' information was thrown away in the process and then you tried to convert/compress it back to DV where it MADE UP the lost 3/4ths of information... sometimes well, and sometimes not.
Lastly - was your 8mm shot at 30fps? I doubt it. You should also go back and see how it was converted to DVD... was it 24FPS? 16FPS??????
See if they telecine'd it in anyway. If it was 24, it could be that the DVD is 24fps and not 30. Might want to try and get mpegstreamclip to rip it at 23.98.
Anyway - not the best of situations. I had my mom get all of her 8mm converted straight to tape so I would have better quality options when putting them to DVD for the family. Cost quite a bit more... but was something I wanted done.
For most people... putting old super8 on DVD is magic enough (plus cheesy music). But you're finding you want to edit and make better, yes?? You'll have to pay.

Need help with compressor settings
I hoped someone could help me with this. I have HD footage that has been captured in FCP as SD, so it's 4:3, with letter box so that the original 16:9 footage wasn't stretched.
I need to make small Quicktime movies for streaming on the internet. I want to keep the proportions that I have, but I want to crop out the black letter box for a 320x180 video. How do I do this?
I could also use help in determining which codecs to use. I want the best possible picture quality at a file size of less than 2MB per 1 min. of footage at the above dimensions.

I'll keep in mind to edit the code the way you told me too.
As far as the code goes, what do you mean 'y' is not a string and should be a variable. All I'm trying to do is give a true false statement.
For example
if (input==y)
System.out.println("________");
And in my code it gives an error stating that y is a variable.
I dont understand why.

I need help with exporting 720p video for youtube.
Hi everyone, I have been using Adobe premeir for almost a year now and I love it, as its very professional and powerful. I used to edit Standard with no problem, then export the full unconverted file (wmv) and run it though Windows Movie Maker to compress it (haha yeah I know its crazy.) Now that I got a camera capable of shooting HDV I want to use it. Im just wondering the following:
1.What format should I export with in Adobe Media Encoder? (Original Raw footage files from Camera are MOV formatted)
2.What should I set the Bitrate to?
3.How do I export to flash without it being to large of a file (Under 200mb's for a 5 minute video) and have it not choppy or pixelated?
4.How do I speed up exporting, how many passes should I do?
5.What overall is the best setup for youtube?
I also noticed a small glitch, and its when I export normally (full size, no compression) and run it though a compressor it cuts out all of the titles, and just flashes them for a milisecond. Its really odd. It only happens when I export in a certain format in which I cannot quite remember. Anyways.. thanks in advance for helping me. Its very appreciated.

If you're using flip4mac to convert to wmv, the trial stops at 30 seconds - you need at least wmvstudio to export to wmv:
