Need help with Illustrator CC type scale issue.

I have my units set to inchs and when I type a font in at 12" high the actual size I get is only 8.3789"
Is there a fix for this?

To get the desired letter/glyph height you may, with the live Type selected:
1) Effect>Path>Outline Object;
2) Edit>Preferences>General>Use Preview Bounds;
3) In the Transform palette, set the desired height and Ctrl/Cmd+Enter (to keep proportions).
You can see the correspondingly changed font size in the Character palette.
Remember to undo especially 2) when done.

I need help with illustrator 10, I have artwork I need to finish in it and it keep kicking me off.
I have added transparency, using SVG effects, a lot more detail and that is when it started kicking me off. I just added 2 gb of ram thinking it was ram I needed but it keeps kicking me off.
I think there is something I need to change in how I save it???
I have a mini mac, 10.5.8
The screen also turns white while I am working and when it does kick me off it says there is an error.I know I am behind the times but I am just trying to get this deadline done and be able to update my computer and such in a few months. Help!

Need help with illustrator cs5

Hi everyone.....first time on a forum and hope someone can help. I am using illustrator cs5 on OSx snow leapard. I am designing wings, following a demo and when I get to the part where I am supposed to use the reflect tool, I come to grief. Firstly the reflect tool dialogue box has two windows in the options part.....patterns or objects. I am supposed to be able to uncheck these but they are greyed out and not changeable. Secondly when I try to reflect my wing, using the option key to copy as well, the program appears to turn my wing over and give me a view of what would be the back of the wing, not a reflection. My fella and I have spent some considerable time trying to figure out what the issue is but to no avail...........Hope someone can help ..........Josephine Star.

why won't my reflect tool operate properly.....we have just spent another hour trying to sort it out.
Is your Reflect Tool not operating as shown in Illustrator's instructions (online Help)? If not, how is it behaving differently?
Have you looked at the instructions? If not, do you not think that spending over an hour while typing posts in an online forum, waiting for answers (which are as often incorrect as correct) for every little question you may have about Illustrator is a much less time-efficient way to learn the program than reading the provided documentation?

"A view of what would be the back" (i.e.; a mirror image) is what Reflect means in the context of Illustrator's Reflect tool. What did you expect different?
Clicking with the Reflect Tool while holding alt/opt(Windows/Mac) sets the center of transformation where you click and invokes the dialog. So, for example, if the object is bilaterally symetrical about its vertical axis (like an upward-pointing triangle), and you altClick its center and then click OK in the resulting dialog, there will be no difference, because the mirror image of such a triangle reflected across a vertical axis would be identical.
Unless it changed in CS5 (don't have it loaded on this laptop)--which I doubt, clicking Copy instead of OK in the dialog is what makes a reflected copy; not holding the alt/opt key.
If you...
1. Mousedown with the Reflect Tool
2. Press and hold Alt
3. Drag
...then you will reflect the object about the position where you mousedown, interactively (without invoking the dialog). While doing so, if you also add the Shift key before mouseup, the reflection will be a copy.

Need Help with "ldap_search: Administrative limit exceeded" issue

I recently created an index for an attribute called abcSmDisableFlag. When i perform an Ldapsearch using an application owners binddn, 10 entires are returned before i get the error: ldap_search: Administrative limit exceeded. When I use the Directory Manager I do not get this error while the same 10 entries are returned.
I have analyzed the error and access logs and i think the problem is with the index (notes=U). I performed a reindex on the attribute but it din't work.

I have indexed both abcIdmDeleteDate and abcSmDisabledFlag with a presence and equality index.
I am using Sun Directory Server 6.2. All the nsslapd limits are at Default value and I am not supposed to increase those values.

I don't know if your issue has been resolved but two things i see here:
1 - you should not be on 6.2, move to 6.3 or 7.
2 - your filter is the answer, when you use a filter of "(&(objectclass=abcIdentity)(abcIdmDeleteDate<=2010-09-16)("\!"(abcSmDisabledFlag=1)))", DSEE takes the 1st part of your filter, in your case objectclass=abcIdentity, and does a search on it. Then after retrieving all entries it checks all that have an abcSmDisableFlag <=2010-09-16 and finally out of the remaining entries it will check which do not have an abcSmDisableFlag=1.
The search on objectClass is resulting in an unindexed search, apparently. What you need to do is alter the order of your attributes in your search filter and have objectClass at the end.
I hope this makes sense and helps.

OK so I bought the computer for 650 from my friend and soon after buying found a problem. The problem was the optical drive not reading all the disc that I put in the system. So I took the macbook pro to apple they installed a new super drive. I get home today and try to install snow leopard and have a issue. The way I went about was starting up holding the option button and waiting to boot from the disc for a fresh install. First time I tried I got a symbol that look like the restricted sign you see when you cant smoke in a area ect... So I restart and try again this time I get to the install screen click does the estimation ect.. 34 minutes than goes to 28 minutes pretty much has frozen there now, and after waiting all this time about 20 minutes I get the spinning beach ball. Also forgot to say that the super drive is now super dooper annoying loud and make odd sounds too with vibration. So I guess make another apple gen bar apt? And have them possible replace the super drive again?
update just got an error occured while installing mac os x still have spinning beach ball

I'm guessing Apple didn't do a good job. I think you need to make a return trip. And politely remind them that you're making a return trip.

I need help with BlackBerry 8820's bluetooth issue

Please accept my appology of my poor English.
My 8820 has a bluetooth issue with Bluedio E9+ headset. It must be note that the headset works well with another phone (not BlackBerry). My BlackBerry can't actively connects to bluetooth headset by the method 'Menu' key > 'Connect' option, but still able to receives connection request from the headset and pairs with the headset when i choose Yes. At this point I can use bluetooth function for data transfering, Voice Dialing and music playback (i.e. mp3 files). But each time I try a mp4 file with default video player in Media folder, its audio will never work with the bluetooth function, and the phone's speakers is automatically enabled. I try the menu when the video was playing, but there are only Activate Handset and Active Speakerphone options. Then I was converted the file with BlackBerry Video Converter Pro; I remove and reinsert the battery; I wipe the phone and install new ROM,... But none of them work.
Please help!

Need help with illustrator CS5 updates problem

Hi guys.....this my first time on a forum and hope someone can help. I am using Adobe CS5 on windows vista.
When there is upcoming updates in Application Manager for Illustrator CS5 in the beginning, I face no problem untill now.
If you asking me, does the other CS5 applications updates works? yes it does. Does anyone have any idea what cause this problem?
I have spent some considerable time trying to figure out what the issue is but i have no idea. Hope someone can help.

First problem is when i selected object and try to move, the object is copying itself.
Second is when i selected brushes or pencil, The smooth tool is appeal and i can not draw anything.

Darn this problem just kicked in for me. I was working fine then suddenly dragging items is duplicating them as though I was pushing option. It doesn't happen though if I move an item with arrow keys. I've been using the character viewer and making characters using the option key so I could have pressed some key combo all unknowing. (Similar mystery problem happened when I automatically pressed cmd-H which is the combo for hide in most apps but not Illustrator. In Illustrator this inconveniantly hides edges. Now I know that if selection is a problem I should see if I cmd-H'ed at some point but I found this out the hard way :/ .)
Additionally, when I type characters using the type tool I am NOT getting the characters that would happen when pressing option so the option key is not stuck. Nor is the option key malfunctioning in other apps. Moreover, I just tested and like the OP smooth tool is selected instead of pencil.
This is very aggravating.

Need Help with 266 (tray type) Memory upgrade

I have obtained my first Mac: an iMac 266 (the CD tray load type). I have replaced the hard drive and am now working on the RAM memory. I see the the "upper" slot. I'm guessing the "lower" slot is under the circuit board that fills the metal cage with the processer chip (?). If this is true any suggestions on how to remove it? I removed the one screw on the outside corner but removing the cage is very stubborn so I'm holding off continuing until I get some advice on this.

Need help with PPM activity type

Hi All -
I am trying to CIF a production version and I have the master recipe with 1 operation and 2 activities. My first activity is SETUP and the second activity is PROCESS.
However, after CIF'fing the PV, I see in APO that both the acitivities have an activity type " Produce".
Which setting assigns the activity type " Setup" for my activity SETUP?

in order to transfer the activity as "set up", please check if the following settings are done.
1. In the resource (ERP side), check if you have maintained the formula for "setup' under "capacity" and also in "scheduling" tab.
2. In the recipe, check if you maintained the time for setup.

Need help with Windows 7 kernel power issues

Windows recovered from unexpected shutdown
Ok so I got this computer about 7 months ago, about a month or so after I got it I sent it in for this exact issue and when I got it back it was still happening. So I called, changed some settings and that seemed to work for a while but now it's doing all this again. Whenever I leave my computer idle to go into sleep mode some times it just shuts down, doesn't restart it just shuts off. No blue screen or anything like that. My event viewer lists these as happening 3 times last month and 7 times this month. I'm not sure how to post log files but here's what the event viewer says: I hope someone can help me out it's driving me nuts.

Need Help with Signal and No Service Issue

I switched out my phone Saturday after Genius ran diagnostic and said it was a hardware issue dropping so many calls. I also got a new Sim card in the newest series. I was feeling good and confident until I went to work and the signal dropped to No Service and remained that way all day. I called At&t and was treated rather rudely by a supervisor, who said that maybe I should find a different carrier, because I seem to be a problem customer. (I guess for reporting issues.) I don't know what to do anymore. He told me to take the replacement back to Apple and have them test it again. Can anyone help me?

how can i import a dwg or dxf file in illustrator cc if i want to keep all the layers i've created in my autocad file?

The way to keep layers, has to do with how you export in Autocad. I am not an autocad operator, but one person showed my they are atleast 2 (probabaly 3 with print to pdf) different ways to make a .pdf from auto cad. He got to the correct one by Ctrl Clicking to get a contextual menu to save as .pdf, and then flipped come checkboxes around.
If you find how to do this, please feel free to post with screenshots what the exact options are, as this question comes up regular on the forums here.
You also can make the paths so that all vector points are connected adn can be fileld in Illustrator.

Need help with a freezing / Lock up issue

Hey Everyone,
I have an lenovo T400 running Windows XP with iTunes 9.2.1.5.
I have 2 different iPhones (3gs and 4) both with the latest 4.x software.
Any time I connect either phone to this Laptop iTunes locks up.
The seriers of events happens as...
Itunes sees the iphone and...
Verifying iPhone
syncing
backing up
syncing apps
Syncing
Then it locks.
I've been googling an dsearching here, some poeple thinking it was a Voicememo or issue, podcast issue, app issue, music issue. I've deleted all of that off one phone and it still locks up.
I've been searching and out of ideas.
What order does a phone sync in?
Is there a way to watch it sync and see if it's hanging on one file?

I am having the same issue suddenly the last couple of days. I haven't installed anything else nor have I done anything out of the ordinary. Whenever I select multiple items this also seems to happen.
