Need help with Locale or language encoding
Hi,
I'm not sure about the right solution for my problem, but here's the problem:
I'm from Israel, and I write some jdbc code using Oracle 10 server. (Oracle version isn't important, it used to happen also with Oracle 8).
The problem is, that when exceptions occur, Oracle will return a string like ????.???????? since it tries to convert it to my local settings, and not displaying the message in English.
I need to display sql exceptions in a dialog so the support team can deal with data problems.
However,
The dialog doesn't display the messages correctly (not with question marks, though, but still unreadable).
My solution for the time being is to copy the message to the clippboard and let my user search the web or a translation program he has for the correct encoding.
I tried both setting the Locale to US using JOptionPane.setDefaultLocale(Locale.US) and I also tried the hebrew local (maybe the exception content will not be translated), but ti didn't help, as Oracle allready translated the messages for me.
I guess it's the use of encoding schemes that will solve that problem, but I don't know how to do that in my application.
BTW,
I'm using Intellij and my console also displays unreadable data,
I didn't find how to change it in my IDE's settings.
How can I display the data correctly?

I can't change anything in Oracle.
However, the problem is solved.
We used to use the Oracle driver for Oracle 8 with all of our systems,
but now we upgraded it to the driver compatible with Oracle 10,
and it returns values correctly.
BTW, I don't see it as a good solution, since I didn't realy solve the problem, I only bypassed it.
When I'll encounter it again with a non Oracle produce that doesn't support hebrew, I'll get stuck again.
But for now, it'll do.

Really need help with AME Adobe Media Encoder crash on startup.
Hey all, this is my first time posting in these forums.
I have Adobe Design Premium and need to use the included Media Encoder for a project I'm working on. It opened well the first time, and I started converting a file - at which point it crashed. Since then, when I start it, it shows the startup / loading image, but once finished opening disappears and closes itself. I've tried reinstallig, no dice. I also read the plugin log files (My Documents > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > Log Files) - nothing out of the ordinary.
Very stuck and very frustrated - any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I can, however, offer a suggestion as to why the app is now failing to launch: the initial crash may have corrupted the application settings. If you delete those settings, or otherwise hide them from AME, then the app will create fresh settings on the next launch.

Need help with local authentication - WLAN 2100
Hello,
Please be gentle, I am not an experienced Cisco user. My organisation has inherited a Cisco 2100 WLAN controller as a couple of Aironet 1130 access points. I have been able to get a basic configuration into the 2100, as well as the access point, but I cannot figure out how to create a user account for WPA-PSK. We do not have any type of RADIUS or LDAP services available, so I just need a simple way to provide our users with one or two account names and network keys to access the wireless network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need help with a simple process with FTP Adapter and File Adapter
I am trying out a simple BPEL process that gets a file in opaque mode from a FTP server using a FTP adapter and writes it to the local file system using a File Adapter. However, the file written is always empty (zero bytes). I then tried out the FTPDebatching sample using the same FTP server JNDI name and this work fine surprisingly. I also verified by looking at the FTP server logs that my process actually does hit the FTP server and seems to list the files based on the filtering condition - but it does not issue any GET or RETR commands to actually get the files. I am suspecting that the problem could be in the Receive, Assign or Invoke activities, but I am not able identify what it is.
I can provide additional info such as the contents of my bpel and wsdl files if needed.
Would appreciate if someone can help me with this at the earliest.

<p>The University of Massachusetts Amherst is leading a Commonwealth Alliance for Information Technology Education (CAITE) to design and carry out comprehensive programs that address under representation in information technology (IT) education and the workforce. CAITE will focus on women and minorities in groups that are underrepresented in the Massachusetts innovation economy; that is, economically, academically, and socially disadvantaged residents.</p>
<p>The project will pilot a series of outreach programs supported by educational pathways in three regions (one rural, one suburban, and one urban). The project will include work with high school teachers, staff, and counselors. Need help with compression rates with Sorenson Squeeze 6, Compressor3.5.2
Hopefully somebody can help me with this...
I am running Sorenson Squeeze 6 on a Mac to try and compress some Apple ProRes 422 videos into an MPEG-2 file. The file will be played in a DirectX application, running on a PC with Windows 7. When being played it looks to be heavily compressed, and I need help with some of the compression settings.
Let me get more into detail...
So I have received a Quicktime .mov that has been encoded with FCP using Apple ProRes 422 compression at 720x486 , 29.97 fps, 40.29 Mbit/s , and the file size is 515.7mb.

Here is what I have done so far on my Mac using Sorenson Squeeze 6 :
I have brought the original file in and created some presets.
First off, I am encoding these MPEG-2 videos using an elementary stream type so I can mux the files using MPEG Streamclip...
Here is a screenshot of the settings I am using in Sorenson :
- I have changed many of the data rate settings as low as 3000 Kbps, and as high as 15,000 Kbps, and the end result looks essentially the same
- The audio isn't a problem, so I'm not going to address that.
- I have used the crop/deinterlace filter and also not used the filter, and it makes a big difference, so obviously it needs to be deinterlaced.
From there I will get the .m2v file and the .m2a file, and then mux those with MPEG Streamclip.
So, I have done 8 different Pre-sets all with various settings playing primarily with the data rate, and the method from 2-pass vbr all the way to 1-pass cbr.
So again, my end result that is playing back on the windows 7 box (the specs that are listed above) looks to be heavily compressed and pixelation occurs.
- I have also done the exact same with Apple's Compressor, and have gotten better results muxing while compressing, however the end result still tends to be the same, however the end result is much better. I have gone through 8 or so different compression export settings, and just overall still have the same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Need help with a rudimentary program

I urgently need help with this:
When I compile this in Flex Builder 3 it says: The element type 'mx:Application' must be terminated by the matching end-tag '</mx:Application>'.
but I have this end tag in my file, but when I try to switch from source view to desgin view it says, that: >/mx:Script> expected to terminate element at line 71, this is right at the end of the .mxml file. I have actionscript(.as) file for scripting data.

It looks to me like you are terminating the <mx:Application> tag at the top. The opening tag should end like this: resultFormat="e4x">, not resultFormat="e4x"/> (Remove the /).

I am printing a calendar and certain events will be helds on certain dates.
One can edit the event if it has not passed the date. Events in the past can be viewed but not edited.
When I query the database the date must be formatted dd-MMM-yy
I am able to get today's date by doing this:

There are many edible palm fruits, and one of the most widespread and favored of these is the data (Phoenix dactylifera). The date prefers dry, hot climates, because date fruits are injured at temperatures of 20 degrees F, and the damp climate of the California coast was not favorable for fruit production. In the mid-1800s, the date industry developed in California's hot interior valleys and in Arizona. Now the date industry in the United States is localized mostly in the Coachella Valley, where the sandy soils permit the plants to be deeply irrigated. Today the new varieties, mostly introduced in this century, produce about 40 million pounds of dates per annum, or over 60% of the dates consumed in this country. The rest are imported mainly from Persia. According to one survey, about one million people are engaged entirely in date palm cultivation worldwide.
