Need help with names of new truetype fonts.

I'm having trouble with the names of newly installed fonts. I download the truetype font to the desktop, double-click on it, and then click "Install". But when I look in Font Book, it's not there. After a little exploration, I discovered that all my newly installed fonts were being renamed "New", hopelessly confusing OS X.
How do I ensure that the fonts I install are installed under their correct names?

I found a work-around/solution, but I'm going to leave this topic marked "unanswered" in case somebody has a better solution.
Here's what I did:
1) Installed Fontforge via Fink.
2) Opened the .ttf in Fontforge.
3) Selected "Font Info" from the "Elements" menu.
4) Selected the "Mac" tab.
5) Typed the name I wanted in the FOND field.
6) Clicked "Ok".
7) Selected "Generate Fonts" from the "File" menu.
8) Made sure that "Truetype" was selected from the dropdown menu.
9) Checked "Output glyph maps" in the "Options" menu.
10) Saved the font with the new information.
If somebody else has a more elegant solution, please post it.
(FYI: If ever there was an application that should be ported to native OS X, it's Fontforge.)

Need help with my iTunes-new computer-can't access my music

We just got a new computer and I transferred all of my songs from the old to the new and now when I try to access them in iTunes I get an error message that "it cannot be used because the original file cannot be located" Do I have to put in the DVD with all of the files on it in order to use any of my song? You haven't told us enough about what you did.
You need to explain exactly how you did your transfer.
If you don't care about your ratings and play counts and your really did copy your files across, there is a simple way of getting going again.
With iTunes closed drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.itl out of the iTunes folder to the desk top.
Start iTunes and you will have an empty library. Now simply add the folder with your music files in it - normally iTunes Music - to iTunes with File>Add folder to library.
If you didn't copy your files across, try putting the DVD in the drive and opening iTunes - can iTunes find your files now. If so it is a sign you added the files to your library without copying them to your internal HD.

Need help with Install of New HD

After I install the 160GB Powerbook Hard Drive Hitachi Upgrade to my G4 Power Book do I need to reinstall Software (i.e Tiger/panther etc). Is it possible to bring to mac store after install of new HD and have them reinstall the software?

Installing the Hardest part of the job. (If you need directions and tips, please post back).
After you have installed the new HDD you will need to format the new HDD, the install the OS. Here are some directions.
Formatting, Partitioning Zeroing a Hard Disk Drive
Boot from the install CD holding down the "C" key.
Select language
Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
Select Erase tab
Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
Click Erase button
Quit Disk Utility.
Open installer and begin installation process.
Installation Process
Choose to Customize and deselect Foreign Language Translations and Additional Printer drivers.
Check box to install X11 (Tiger) BSD Subsystems (Panther & earlier).
Proceed with installation.
After installation computer will restart for setup.
After setup, reboot computer.
Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
Select First Aid in main panel.
Click Repair Disk Permissions.
Connect to Internet.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo update (PPC).
Computer will restart after installation.
Repair Disk Permissions as before
Go to Apple Menu > Software Update.
Install all updates.
Computer may restart after updates.
Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
Select First Aid in main panel.
Click Repair Disk Permissions.

Need help with accessories for new 4th Generation Nano-speakers, etc

I just purchased the new 16GB 4th generation nano and I want accessories to play with it but am concerned with compatibility and charing issues. I am new to this so my questions may not make sense!
1. I am looking for speakers and the Logitech Anywhere Speakers have good reviews. Will I be able to play my Nano with these and charge it? If not, what ones will that are reasonably priced?
2. What accessory can I use to play my nano in my car (older model) that will also charge it? Or are there no accessories for this as of yet.
3. If I want to plug it into a stereo, I only need the mini/RCA cable converter, correct?
4. To plug into the wall, I need the USB adapter-but do I need a dock as well?

For the car with no tape or aux you need an FM transmitter, if your in a city with a lot of stations you will get interferance (I was glad to dump mine when I got a new car). Most are 12 volt! The Griffin iTrip has 5 volt charge and works with the iPod Nano 4th Gen.

I need help with AppleScript for changing the font on numerous PowerCADD files

I am currently trying to write an AppleScript, but I really have no idea how one is written. I have looked up many tutorials, but to no avail.
What I'm trying to so is write a script that will take all my selected PowerCADD files, open them, change the font to Helvetica, then save the file. I have over a thousand files to do this to. So, you can see my need of an AppleScript to get this task completed.
If anyone out there knows how I would write this script, please submit it here.

Need help with linking my new macbook pro with my printer

i have a new macbook pro and i am trying to link it to my also new Canon PIXMA MX882 printer. I went through installation and it said everything was complete, but when I go to choose a printer nothing shows up. I am a new mac user. please help!

It's not necessary to change your Apple ID often - maybe your password every six months or so, but not the email associated with the ID.

Need help with updates and new apple programs

something happened to my pc. having problems with my pc when it restarts.
wondered if anyone whichapple updates require a restart, and which don't?
if they require a restart to finish installation, they fail, and my pc crashes, and i have to resintall os.
i know the iwork does not require a restart, where ilife does. so for now, i can install iwork, but not ilife.
in anyone familiar with 10.5.6 knows which updates/add ond require a restart and which don't, please post. any help appreciated. 4th re install now.

Frustrated and Need Help with AE after new router installed

My AE worked fine on a previous router that ran through a modem. I now have a 2 Wire Modem-Router combo and cannot get my computer to recognize it. I am running Windows XP. I have plugged the AE base station directly into the router and configured it but, as soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable, it stops working. I have tried to join a wireless network in client mode but my computer, since it does not have a wireless card only a router, cannot see the base station. Which way do I go? Do I setup the base station while connected by ethernet cable or do I try to setup in client mode wirelessly? If while connected by ethernet, what settings? My routers is DHCP and does have a password associated with it?

I really need help with my brand new MSI R7970-2PMD3GD5/OC. I've purchased it two days ago and I didn't really have time to test the card until yesterday. The card is I think way to hot for my "liking". It idles at 56c-60c, at full load in Heaven benchmark 3.0 in 1920x1080, extreme tessellation and 8xAA card reaches 95c-97c. Stock cloacks are 1010Mhz/1375Mhz and stock voltage is 1,174v. Case is being cooled by two Noctua NF-P12 fans. Also I tried lowering the voltage and "underclocking" the card to a standard 925Mhz in small increments, but it doesn't help at all. Each and every time it results in BSOD and dx dll errors and complete system failures. Replacing the card wouldn't be a problem if I lived in a "normal" country that has access to a steady supply. Retailer that sold me a card told me that only 5 cards total have been imported from the launch day and told me that i bought the "last" card in my country. They could order a replacement but it would take them more then a month to do so.:( Ohhh and one more thing I don't overclock, everything in my case is at their default values.
Recently, I read that "Amd released" a bios update for a standard reference boards that turns them into a "GHZ editions". Also lot of users report a lower voltage requirements and lower temps with that "boost bios". As I understand this card pcb is not Amd's reference board design, I could be wrong it's not that uncommon.. So I didn't want to risk warranty by flashing it to a position 1. Will MSI release the boost bios for this model of card? I am humbly asking MSI staff on how to proceed regarding this problem. I would be immensely grateful for any help you could provide.

it's open case. If i close it the temps get even worse:(
They get better for other components, but not for gpu. Two Noctua NF-P12's are cooling the case, first one is positioned above gpu, left side next to cpu. Other is right beneath the gpu, right side of case. Just under the hdd section of the case. I tested each and every component with my backup card nv 8500gt. They function within the specified parameters. I'm getting somewhat worried.

It looks like I cannot install anything anymore. Everytime I try to install a new software, I simply get stuck during the installation type process. I put in my password, it does accept it, but it does not go any further.
I tried to reset the password, put no password, repair the permissions, the disk but nothing will do. I nearly got stuck with the log in screen but finally succeeded in disabling it.
So I thought I might try to create a new account but I cannot click the lock to make changes. It simply refuses to react.
I am now thinking about using the migration assistant to save all my settings, data and so fourth, but again I get stuck when I have to type in my password. It accepts it but nothing happens...
I guess it has something to do with the authorization process, but can't find anything on the internet about it... Can you help me out?
I am running Lion 10.7.3.

You probably won't like this suggestion, but I suggest you reinstall Lion.
First, backup your system. Next, reboot your system, press/hold the COMMAND-R keys to boot into the Recovery HD. Select 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. If you purchased Lion as an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the reinstall process will install Lion 10.7.3. If your system came preinstalled with Lion, you might still get Lion 10.7.2. Both installs are a total install of the OS. None of your apps or data will be impacted. Just the OS.

The ID Program folder will be relevant to your OS...
I took a shot and right clicked on my Scripts Samples, choose reveal in Explorer and opened up the ID Program folder.
As shown, there is a Fonts folder.
Drag/Copy/Paste fonts to this folder.

I am looking to be able to directly dial / email from this info in yet notes section located within a contact. On Blackberry, the notes area entered in a contact can connect directly but on the iPhone those numbers/emails are inactive. I am trying to avoid having to create each of these individuals as a separate contact and keep them under their account affiliation. It is easier to find them. This does not seem like that complicated of a request and hoping someone can tell me how or share an app that will enable the "notes" within a contact be "active". Hope this makes sense.

I seem to recall that this question has been asked before and I'm pretty sure that the answer is that you can't do what you want to do with the native contact app. However, there are lots of contact apps out there that pull from the built app's data but have other features. Perhaps one of them would meet your needs.

I have my itunes account linked to my iphone and macbook. I have bought my daughter an itouch for Xmas. Now I have set up a seperate itunes account for her on my other Windows laptop. So she is able to purchase apps without them going and clogging up my itunes... NOW this is the bit i need help with...

Right, I have now gone down the line of setting up a new user on my macbook, her own ID and then with the help of Mr google, I followed the steps of sharing my music, by moving my itunes media folder to a shared folder.
Now i got my music on her itunes libary but when i did a test download of an app, it wont show in the library. I have even done the 'transfer purchases'. and its still not showing. I am slowing loosing the will to live with it! I really need help.
