Need help with Portal role display!
Hello forum.
I have a quite strange requisite from my client, and I was wondering if anyone of you ever done something like this:
Today their EP exclusively supports the Employee Self-Service BP. We are currently driving a project to deliver some reports on their EP.
These reports were built with Visual Composer.
Aditionally, we've created the whole structure to support the introduction of the reports on the Portal (role, pages, worksets). The problem is that our client doesn't want the employees to see the reporting Role when they access the ESS area, and vice-versa. The requisite is something like having two different Portals, running on the same...
We've tried many solutions to accomplish that: we've created quicklinks, portal aliases with different framework pages, etc... but we are not getting there.
Can anyone give me a useful hint?

Hi All,
I'm using the Oracle Portal builder to post some links (Dsicoverer reports links) on a portal. Is there any way where only a certain group of people have access to those reports on the portal? Please need help.

how do I create a form where, say from scott schema, when an employee is running a form, I want to display a series of check box with all the employees that belongs to his department only???
This user should be able to check one or all the employee within his department and pass this to a calender. I can handle the calender part.
I just dont know how to display this list of check box in the GUI.

thanks for your response, I am using Portal 3.0.9 and I have created a LOV with check box as default. But when I try to bind this LOV to a field in the form, the only way it will let me do it is through Combo box or Pop Up.
Like you said, when I chose the field as Text box or Text area, the form doesn't even have the option to choose the LOV.
am I missing somthing here?

Need help with connecting a display
My brother no longer wants his TV so I thought that maybe I could connect it to my iMac.
He has a Mini Display port to HDMI cord and it worked between his MacBook Pro and the TV downstairs, not sure on any other TVs.
The TV in question is a Samsung LE19R. I tried connecting it and it said "Not compatible in this mode" (Or something like that).
So I tried fiddling with the settings, try changing the mode, nothing.
Considering that the TV downstairs is by Sony, I thought I'd try my TV (As it's a Sony as well; KDL-19S5700), just to see. Doesn't work either.
Pretty much just wanted to try this for the fun of it, but not permenantly because there's no where near enough room n my desk, so I was thinking it could perhaps be a future configuration if I rearrange a few things. I'm going to get a job and save up for a Mac Pro. This will take some time and tere'll probably be a new Mac Pro on the market or something else, but it would take too much time to save up for a monitor as well, so I culd use my brother's if I do manage to save up.
So it's nothing too important, but it would be nice to try it. Any suggestions?Checking the manual of the Samsung, it seems to mention that you can't connect a PC via HDMI.
I don't know why the Samsung manual would say that. If it supports HDMI (at the proper version level) then I would think it wouldn't know where the signal is coming from. Maybe it has something to do with the EDID info (or lack of it) from the TV.
Not sure about the Sony though.
I have a Sony 32XBR6 hooked to my machine via HDMI and it works great (for full disclosure here, I have connected to a mac pro)
On the iMac, I can't change the refresh rate on the secondary monitor; it's stuck at 60Hz, but I live in a PAL region, so the TV is 50Hz. Could that be the problem?
Not sure about the refresh rate for PAL. Just try whatever refreh rates the Displays offers to fish for one that would work.
Also I'm sure the TV is 720p, but when I clicked "Mirror Monitors", the iMac display changed to something else, which wasn't 720p.
You don't want to use mirrored with this arrangement. With mirrored all the screens would have a size determined by the smallest screen. -
Need Help with Address Display
I need help with APEX.
Here's my situation:
I have a report that displays brief employee information. Among the information displayed is the Address. Right now, it's display as:

Accounting Department

I would like it to display

Accounting Department
Address 1
Address 2
1) I have thought of using the Break functionality; however, the function only allows break at column 1, 2, 3. As you can see Address starts at column 4. Also, Address has a few columns; Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State, Zipcode.
2) Stragg functions - I'm not sure how to implement it since it has more than 1 columns.
Any ideas?

1. some of the employees may have two adresses?
2. if this is the case, your employee appears in the report twice?
3. you don't want his name, employee id and accounting department to appear twice?
4. only his address has to be displayed?

I have a "Contact" organization issue I need help with. I organize multiple customers under their account affiliation. I place the people with their contact info under each account name by their dept/role in the notes section of their account. I am looking to be able to directly dial / email from this info in yet notes section located within a contact. On Blackberry, the notes area entered in a contact can connect directly but on the iPhone those numbers/emails are inactive. I am trying to avoid having to create each of these individuals as a separate contact and keep them under their account affiliation. It is easier to find them. This does not seem like that complicated of a request and hoping someone can tell me how or share an app that will enable the "notes" within a contact be "active". Hope this makes sense.
I seem to recall that this question has been asked before and I'm pretty sure that the answer is that you can't do what you want to do with the native contact app. However, there are lots of contact apps out there that pull from the built app's data but have other features. Perhaps one of them would meet your needs.

Hi, How can I share session between a WebCenter Portal application and the portlets it is consuming?
Basically I want this for authentication. In the portal framework application, I'm setting a user object in the session, How can I get the object in a portlet?

Need help with Template - unbalanced #EndEditable tag
I am unable to use this template to create a new page and get the "unbalanced #EndEditable tag" error.
If I open the file independently it looks great - otherwise I get the error.

<h1>For Students</h1>
<p>The University of Massachusetts Amherst is leading a Commonwealth Alliance for Information Technology Education (CAITE) to design and carry out comprehensive programs that address under representation in information technology (IT) education and the workforce. CAITE will focus on women and minorities in groups that are underrepresented in the Massachusetts innovation economy; that is, economically, academically, and socially disadvantaged residents.</p>
<p>The project will pilot a series of outreach programs supported by educational pathways in three regions (one rural, one suburban, and one urban). The project will include work with high school teachers, staff, and counselors. CAITE will identify best practices and disseminate, deploy, extend and institutionalize these best practices statewide and nationally.</p>
<p>Community colleges are the centerpiece of CAITE because of the central role they play in reaching out to underserved populations and in serving as a gateway to careers and further higher education.</p>
<p>This project will build a broad alliance built on its leadership in and partnership with the Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI), the Boston Area Advanced Technological Education Center (BATEC), regional Louis Stokes Alliances and NSF EGEP programs, and other partnerships and initiatives focused on information technology education and STEM pipeline issues</p>

I need help with this script please ASAP

I need Help with a website I've created
I need help with a website I've created (www.jonathanhazelwood.com/lighthouse) I created the folowing site with dreamweaver at my current resolution 1366 by 768. Looks great on my screen resolution but if it is viewed on other resolutions the menu moves and some of the text above and below. How can I keep all content centered and working like it does on 1366 by 768 on all resolutions. The htm to my site is below I started off with a blank template through dreamweaver CS5.

</html>Look at all the apdiv's you have. Those are absolutely positioned layers. I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS. I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

Need help with calculator project for an assignment...
Hi all, I please need help with my calculator project that I have to do for an assignment.
Here is the project's specifications that I need to do"

When the program starts, it asks the user for his/her name and surname. I got the program to ask the user again and again for his/her name and surname
when he/she doesn't insert anything or just press 'enter', but if the user enters a number for the name and surname part, the program continues.
Now my question is this: How can I restrict the user to only enter 'letters' (and spaces of course) but allow NO numbers for his/her surname??

What you could do is checking the input string for numbers. If it contains numbers, just reprompt for the Name.
AND you might want to ask yourself why the heck a calculator needs to know the users Name.
