Need help with Premiere Pro 2.0

I have a very old labtop that was running out of disk space.  I opened up the "Preview" folder of Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and deleted all the preview files.  Now Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 will not open.  When it gets to "Loading Write_on.aex", I get this error message:
Runtime Error!
Program:...iles/Adobe/Adobe Premiere 2.0/Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
The problem is that Adobe no longer supports this program.  Please help as I cannot open/edit my files!

Welcome to the forum.
First thing that I would do would be to look at this Adobe KB Article to see if it helps.
Next, I would try the tips in this ARTICLE.
If that does not help, a Repair Install would definitely be in order.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Need help with Premiere Pro 6 media/file management!

I've been an Avid editor for 20+ years and understand media management in that world. I've recently learned FCP 7 and understand media management in that world. But for the life of me I cannot wrap my head around how Premiere Pro 6 manages media. I am looking for a very straightforward explanation, chart, anything to make sense of this. Thanks in advance for helping an old dog learn new tricks!

  • I Need Help With Premiere Pro CC File Issue

When I shoot video with my Canon XF100 camera for an extended period it creates new files every 5 minutes. In a continous shoot it keeps these separate files in a sub-folder until I hit the stop button. When I recommence shooting it creates a new sub folder and a new file.
Until recently Premiere Pro CC would read each file seperately in a sub folder but just recently it has started to combine them all. For example, if I was shooting continuously for 15 minutes I would get three 5 minutes filesand Premiere Pro CC would normally see 3 separate 5 minute files with their own file names but just recently it will see 3 files, each 15 minutes in lenghth, and each with the same content even though they have different file names.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, do you have a solution?
    Thanks,
    Milton

This was an unintended result of an intentional change to fix how Premiere Pro handles spanned MXF clips. To learn a bit more, please consult this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1358012?tstart=0

  • Need help with Go Pro Hero 3 and Premiere Pro CS6

    Hello,
I recently acquired PP CS6. I put my clip (30 seconds long) and I go to preview while editing, for the first 1.5 seconds it is fine but then it is very choppy. The audio is fine but the video does not play smoothly. When I save and process the video it is fine. It is frustrating to try to edit video this way. I'm sure I'm missing a step when creating the project but I haven't used Premiere Pro since CS6. This is only happening with Go Pro Hero 3 videos, any of my other cameras are fine. Any ideas? Thanks

There's a lot of confusion over how video encoding affects subsequent editing performance - a higher data rate has no direct relation to how much effort is required to decode and play the footage, in fact a higher data rate often makes playback easier - which is why transcoding to AVI can help with playback even though the files can be hundreds of times larger. Data rates with the same codec depend on the frame contents and recording quality, but for playback and editing what matters is the GOP (group-of-pictures) structure and the complexity of the encoding algorithm. Provided your disks are fast enough the data rate is immaterial to Premiere.
With long-GOP files (as typically created by consumer DSLRs and helmet cams) we have keyframes (I-frames) with a complete set of pixel data, then a series of intervening P- and B-frames which only store the difference between 'now' and 'one frame before' or 'one frame after'. Unless you're on an I-frame you have to calculate the chain of differences from the nearest I-frame, and when editing or applying an effect we must  re-calculate the entire GOP, so Premiere has to hold a lot of data in the buffer. Remember all timelines in Premiere are internally transcoded to 32-bit floating point, so it's more work to 'play' the footage in the monitors than would be done by a simple playback-only application such as VLC, or in some other brands of NLE that only work in the footage's color space. Premiere's hardware acceleration (MPE) only kicks in once the buffer has been ingested, all the decoding of the original H.264 frames happens in your CPU.
With digital cinema cameras and some hacked DSLRs, we record "all-I" footage - so there's no GOP overhead and playback/editing is massively smoother. I can scrub all-I footage from a hacked 7D no problem on my relatively-ancient spare laptop, but the  long-GOP files from a factory 7D struggle to play at all. Our all-I 7D footage can hit 300MBit/s compared to 35 for long-GOP. Helmet cams such as the GoPro do all they possibly can to squeeze data onto their storage cards, which means they have long-GOP codecs that have some of the most complicated compression algorithms out there. The Hero3's implementation of H.264 uses the Ambarella chip, whose files are very small but an utter nightmare to decode - hence far more of a demand on your CPU than an equivalent clip from a DSLR.
    Jim Simon wrote:
Might be the 35 Mbps that is causing the choppy playback.
It shouldn't, assuming sufficient hardware.  My GH2 clips often get up to over 90 Mb/s and play just fine on an older i7 920.

  • Help with Premiere Pro freezing after importing MPEG files

    I have
had some files sent for me to edit which are MPEG I believe.  They will import, but
as soon as I try and do anything with it, the whole thing freezes for several minutes!  It is unworkable.  I have tried waitin
g for the audio file to conform.  I have tried rendering the work area.  None of this helps.  If it does play, it lasts for a few seco
nds with sound playing at what appears to be twice the speed!  I normally wortk with DV files and these are fine.  By the way, the files I am struggling with do play in media player/real player etc.  I cant believe that premiere would not support this format.  Even Movie Maker just about manages it!  When it does freeze, it really freezes!  As in it wont even let me shut down without literally ripping out the power cable!!  Please help with simple English if possible, and sorry if I havent given you specifics that you would need.  But I honmestly dont know as these were just files sent to me on a memory stick. It was filming from a camcorder, but not sure what type.  The thumbnail says MPEG and the properties just says movie file.  It is about 2GB for an hour I think.  Thanks for any help.  My version is Premier Pro 1.5

Genuinely sorry that I dont know all the technical things that people need
to know.  I always try to find out when I am asked specifically and told how
to find them.  I did look at the link, but that just seemed to be a lot of
stuff about posting ettiquette, nothing about MPEGS.  Perhaps I got the link
wrong.  All a bit hard for me as I have a visual imp[airment.  Thanks again

  • I need help with "Premiere CC"!

    Hello my name is Alexander!
I have problems with "Premiere CC"!
-> I have two different *.mov-files and I can not place these two individual movie clips after another. How do you do it? (I have created a project!)
-> It is not so good sound quality with noise and various noises! I wonder if there's any good way to remove it? I have also "Audition CC" but need some help on what to do in that program in such cases.
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Sincerely at1981!

    You have created a Project.
Next you must "Create a Sequence" in that Project.
That sequence becomes your edit timeline.
Drag a clip on to the "New Item ICON" at the bottom of the Project Bin
Your second question is too broad to answer because we cant hear the problems in your audio.

  • Help with Premiere Pro

Hello, I started a project on a trial run of Premiere Pro CC, and then when it expired I purchased Premiere Pro as a CC, and month to month.
Thursday I went to open it and got a "this project contained a sequence that could not be opened...." error, and researched how to fix it. The helps didnt help, but then suddenly when I tried again it opened in a newer version of Premiere Pro.
So I figured it had to update, and now I'm updating again, because I got the same error message.
My question is: Should I uninstall Premiere Pro 2014? Its showing that my trial was for Premiere Pro 2014, and what I purchased was Premiere Pro (NOT 2014).
I just want to work on my project without these errors that keep popping up, and I'm not sure what I should do.
I'm a little confused, so if this didn't make sense, please ask me to clarify...

    The user solved their issue:
EDIT: I updated Premiere Pro and it works fine now. So i just want to know if I should un-install Premiere 2014
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Will a ramdrive help with Premiere Pro 5.0?

I am upgrading my memory to a total of 32 GB and have read a little bit about using a ramdrive.  Will this help with video editing, and if so, how can I best utilize this extra memory?

    JobJoe wrote:

I don't completely agree with what Harm said in his post, but some of his points are valid.  First it shouldn't really take any machine very long at all to create a RAM drive, and once created it should be easy to constantly re-use.  If it fills up with scratch files that you know you don't need, you can delete the files, or free the RAM drive and then re-create it.
That said, memory use is the key and only you know how much RAM your PPro instance is using during your normal editing.  If you know for sure that PPro never exceeds, say, 10G of RAM, you could easily create a 16G RAM drive and tell PPro to use it for scratch space.  But obviously that's 16G of RAM you can't use for anything else, so your system will begin paging if it needs more for some reason.  So before you do that, it's up to you to figure out A)how much RAM you need to do your normal edits, and B)how much space you need for scratch, on average.
I do think 32G is cutting it a bit close, per Harm.  I have 48 and I cut 16 of it off and make a scratch drive with it.  That works out well for me, but it may not for you.  You have to figure that one out yourself.
    Make sense?

  • I need help with Quicktome Pro

    Hi
Is there anyone that can help me by explaining in details how to edit TV shows with Quicktime Pro. Or, is there a better tool to edit .mpg files, in the mac world ?
    Thanks

QuickTime Pro can't edit any muxed file format (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash) and can only convert the video portion of the file to other formats.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can edit those files and convert them to QuickTime formats.
