Need help with re-installing os x

okay where to begin...
last night my computer was working perfectly normal. out of nowhere all of my applications "unexpectedly quit", but i thought nothing of it and just opened all of them again. i turned my computer off last night and this morning when i turned it on it would not go past they gray apple screen, then that little circle thing that means loading would turn on and it would stay like that for maybe 3 or 4 minutes, and just turn off. i put in the original OS X discs and im trying to re install the software, i completely erased my hardrive because i think that might have been the culprit, anyways i finished downloading and installing the first disc, and the computer reboots as normal, but it takes me right back to the gray apple screen, and i don't even have the option to insert the 2nd disc... i know my hardrive exists because i had the option to install the software to it! i have no idea what to do, any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

There's an easy way to find out. Open System Profiler, it's in your Applications folder. In the Contents section on the left, click the Hardware arrow so it faces down. On the right the information about your Mac will be displayed. Machine name should be first on the list.

Your iTunes account is something at the iTunes Store online. It is not possible to uninstall it. Do you mean the iTunes application? Even if you delete the application and restore it, it should not have deleted your iTunes library (essentially the contents of the iTunes folder in Music) on your computer unless you did a separate steep and specifically deleted that too. You need to tell us what it was you deleted.

Need help with apps install

there is no install or download when i tap on the app i want. theres something at the top that says the price but its not highlighted and wont let me open it. i already tried logging in and going back to the app i want and it still hasnt changed. i need help cause im not really good at this stuff and i dont know what else to really do

Try checking the Parental Controls-if they are enabled, the price will be shown at the top but it will be grey instead of blue, and won't be able to be selected. (Settings>General>Restrictions)

[SOLVED] need help with virtualbox install

I'm a relative n00b to Arch, haging migrated from Ubuntu (pha!!). Arch rocks!
However, my beloved virtualbox isnt playing ball!
After many hours of getting arch up and running I now need some assitance please with VirtualBox PEUL. I've googled and search these wikis and found:

but, I dont know how to install.
I used yaourt (having spent another many hours trying to get to speed with what Arch AUR is and yaourt!!)
This is what I did:
1. Visited http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox and followed PEUL instructions...
2. Click on AUR link and then click on PKGBUILD and it downloaded a PKGBUILD from here http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd
3. Then went back to the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox and clicked on VirtualBox_1.5.6-1_Linux_x86.run and downloaded the file.
4. In accordance with the instructions on the wiki, I ran makepkg
HOWEVER, I get errors!!:

Can anyone help please? In Ubuntu all this was just installed with dpkg -i VirtualBox.deb
I'm sure Arch is just as "simple" :-)

Good idea, I checked this out originally but it didnt work so I went for "manual" install.
The download from yaourt never starts, just hangs - the server is dead or something?? ...

Just a quick comment about where to copy the Sun .run package. It should be put to where the tarball from AUR was extracted.
In my case, it is /home/[users]/virtualbox-bin/

Can't get the kernel module working in 2.6.25, vbox_build_module completes fine, but I get the following error:

Need help with PSE11 install

Downloaded PSE11 with Akamai and it will not install.

Akamai download manager shows 2 file links. Both read the same except 1st one shows 11 LS15.7Z and the 2nd shows LS15.exe 1st one appears to download correctly but 2nd one
Says file archive part of Adobe pSE11 is missing and you need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe PSE11. Please download all parts.
Can you help?

Need help with PSE12 install

The files apparently downloaded properly, but during install I get the following error message:
The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. Close these applications and click Retry to continue: ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe.
I'm installing to a Windows XP SP 3 machine with at least 1 gig of ram, and a 1 Tb hard drive that's less than half full, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I cannot find the named file running anywhere on the machine - anyone run into this?

Hi,
Please open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Open "Processes" tab. Make sure you click "Show processes from all users" . Please see ifElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe is shown in the TaskManager. Please close it and then try to install again.

Need help with XP instal. stuck at: Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver

I've bought a new 2.0 ghz laptop with vista blah blah but i want to change to XP.

bought a new copy of XP and am ready to go then first issue was during
installation the screen says can't find harddrive installed.

external floppy drive and downloaded that floppy driver thingy that i
need to get past that stage from the toshiba website..

wet myself.. anyhow after it formatted the drive it then asked me this:

Here are detailed instructions I found earlier:
Installing a Retail (street copy) version of Windows XP on a Vista Toshiba Laptop.
- If the Toshiba laptop has a seperate BIOS for XP and Vista, download and flash the XP BIOS over the Vista BIOS.
- If XP Setup does not detect the SATA Hard Disk, simply turn on "SATA Compatibility Mode" in the BIOS if applicable. If this option is not available, follow these steps:
1) Download the Windows XP SATA F6 driver from the Toshiba Support/Downloads Website.
If an individual F6 driver is not available, download and unzip the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. The Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver package should contain some folders under the "F6flpy" folder. For example: ICH7M_32bit for an ICH7 based chipset when installing Windows XP 32bit.
2) Copy the F6 driver files (iastor.inf, etc..) to a blank floppy disk. The actual files must reside in the root directory of the Floppy Disk. For example, A:\iastor.inf, A:\iaahci.inf, etc..
3) Use a Toshiba USB Floppy Drive with the Toshiba notebook. (some non-Toshiba USB Floppy Drives may not function properly during XP setup)
4) Boot from Windows XP CD-ROM, start the installation and ensure the floppy disk is inserted in the USB Floppy Drive.
5) When XP Setup prompts you to press F6 to install a Storage Driver, immediately press F6.
6) When XP Setup prompts you to select a SATA driver, select the appropriate driver and continue. For example: ICH7M Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller, ICH8M Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller
7) Keep the Floppy Drive attached and Floppy Disk inserted until XP has completed its installation. Do not Partition or Format the Hard Disk during XP Setup. The SATA drivers from the Floppy Disk are copied and stored on the Hard Disk during XP installation.

Need help with windows install

I am trying to install windows 7 64 bit on my macbook pro 2006 running a leopard OS and it keeps saying select cd rom boot type. what do I do?

You don't need a Windows machine to burn the iso to a DVD, if you use "Disk Utility" just burn it at the slowest speed possible and it should work. (unless your doing the work around to get it to work)
Just make sure you use a program that will make it a bootable image tho, you can't just drag the files over to it and let it burn, it has to end up being bootable in order to boot into the installer.
Apple (Boot Camp) will only support NTFS so as part of installing Windows 7 just chose NTFS as the format while booted from the Windows installer.
Basically, start Boot Camp Assistant, download the drivers, make the partition size you want, (doesn't matter what you format it as now, Windows will do it again with the one you need) it will then boot into the Windows installer and you will eventually get to the part where you can format it to NTFS, it will do it's thing and reboot into the new Windows 7 desktop and you will then install the drivers.

I need help with network install of SQL Developer 3.2

Does anyone have any references on how to perform a network install for SQL Developer? Here is what I'm trying to achieve:
1. Network installation on drive S:\ (Windows, obviously)
2. User links to network installation
3. Connections are unique for each user
I found the 2006 posting of network install for Raptor, but I could not find anything that correlates with the latest release. All I have done so far is downloaded and unzipped. Any help/instructions/guides/tutorials are welcome.

You have installed!. The code for SQLDeveloper does not have an installer.
If the software is on S, say a shared drive, each user will start sqldeveloper and a directory called sqldeveloper will be created in their local %APPLICATION_DATA% folder. This will keep all connections etc unique for all users.
You will have to create a link from the S drive to the sqldeveloper.exe if you want a shortcut to start it. We dont provide it.

Need help with problem installing OSX 10.5.2 update

I tried to download 10.5.2 update via Software update. After download the was a problem concerning the "signature" and the download was placed in my trash. I tried to empty trash, but it said it could not because the item "MACOSXUpd10.5.2.pkg is in use." So I downloaded the combp update from the Apple web site. After down load I tried to install, and I get a dialog box which says: "The following disc image failed to mount" and under image it says: MACOSXUpdCombo10" and under reason: "error-4960."
What do I do now?

Never continue installing software on a computer with a problem. If you could not empty the trash, that's the immediate thing to fix. Then you should proceed with the update. There is clearly something wrong with your system.
Reboot and see of you can "flush" the trashbin. If not, we have a problem to solve.
Installing the update is the second step. We should deal with the first issue first.

Need help with silent install of Peoplesoft Internet Architecture

I have PT8.49.15 and need to do a silent installation of the web tier on linux. I am supposed to run the $PS_HOME/setup/PsMpPIAInstall/setup.linux which is a Microfocus Installshiled wizard. Any ideas how I can make this a silent installation? I need to automate all of my deployments and have not figured out how to create or pass in a response file to use as input. Is this possible?

I need help with express install

I am attempting to use the express install option in the swf
object discussed
here
I have used this to embed flash content to overcome the
'click to activate' issue, but so far, I have been unable to get
the express install option to work.
I removed flash player using the
“uninstall_flash_player.exe” and now the embedded flash
content doesn’t show up, I get the content between the
“<div id="flashcontent"> This text is replaced by the
Flash content. </div>” as expected but express install
doesn’t run.
I have expressinstall.as and swfobject.js in the root folder.

The following are important in a roaming network:
The Express must be connected back to the 2Wire router by Ethernet.
The Express must be configured as a bridge.
The Express must broadcast a wireless network that uses the same Network Name (aka SSID) and wireless security type/password as the 2Wire's wireless network.
In a roaming network, the Express will "extend" the 2Wire's network by creating a second wireless network with the same characteristics. You can literally roam with a wireless laptop between these networks and still be on the 'same' network. However, if the Express is placed outside of the signal range of the 2Wire, then there will be a coverage gap and that can appear as though the network is not extended.
