a client of mine can't open some pdf's after upgrading adobe reader. he gets the message:
"There was an error processing a page. Invalid ColorSpace."
What can he do? he works with windows.

I like to share the discussion as I am confronted with same or similar problem. Since last Saturday the pdf attachments I sent with my e-mail messages show a blank pdf document upon opening. To make sure it really was the case I sent message with pdf attached to myself: bingo! Have recently updated to Adobe Reader 9.4.1. Using WinXp SP3 and MS Outlook 2003 SP3.
Any suggestions?

Have you tired another browser?
Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or Safari will all work with Windows 7, and they will give you far less trouble than IE or AOL will.
Firefox has a built in PDF viewer that's less than perfect, but it works.
On a personal note: I worked for AOL ten years ago. AOL mail (what most people use AOL for) is now a FREE service for ANYONE, so if you have their software installed I'd recommend removing it: you don't need it. If you have a paid account with them, I'd cancel it. You're getting NOTHING AT ALL for a monthly fee that isn't available on their website at absolutely no cost to you.
Also, I just spent an entire day last week reloading an office computer for my brother because Internet Explorer allowed a virus from a page that the other browsers don't allow access to. Internet Explorer is "the problem child" of Internet Browsers, and since AOL uses a seven year old version of Internet Explorer for its built-in browser, you'll find little difference between the two.
Try another browser and see if the problem persists. If it does we'll look at Reader as a cause, but I'd venture an aducated guess it's your browser.

I have Adobe Reader X installed on Windows 7. I want to upgrade it into Adobe Reader X, but when I click on "check for updates", it says no updates are available?
How can I upgrade Adobe Reader X to XI so that XI replaces X?

Upgrading Adobe Reader 11.0.03 to version 11.0.06

My usual packaging and deployment consists of extracting the installer exe and running the msi through the customization wizard Adobe provides.
This latest 11.0.06 comes as a solo msp as well... I'm fully aware and works well to upgrade existing 11x installs. However my environment has regions where I do not control the release of Reader,
and they might have PC's with 10x versions running wild. Plus I need to be able to do initial installs of Reader on new PC's.
Here's what I've done:

Even the execmgr log files on the client machine also show that the installation was pushed out successfully, but when you log onto that particular client computer and check the program version either by launching Adobe
Reader and go into About it's still showing version11.0.03. The Control
Panel also shows version 11.0.03 in the Programs/Features area.
Again- yes the msp works great on its own, but I would love to have just one script to install or upgrade any existing Reader! I expect major upgrades getting wonky, but, I absolutely dispise how Adobe cannot
get their minor updates to be consistent!
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also note that because the outcome will be a MSI package with the SAME productcode as the 11.00, you'll need additional detection method for your ConfigMgr application. I use the file version of AcroRead32.exe

I can't open pdf's from web sites since I upgraded adobe reader

Since I upgraded adobe, I haven't been able to open pdf's directly from websites--I just get a black screen (in Safari, or a white screen in Firefox). I can sometimes right click on the link and either download the pdf or save it as a document as a work-around to enable me to open it.

I have the same problem. Or similar. A few weeks ago, i installed Adobe reader (because i had a pdf attachment that was unreadable in Preview, so i wanted to try Adobe to see if that would work; it didn't work). Since then, i can't open PDF files on the web. I get a black screen or sometimes a white one. and i can sometimes open them indirectly, if there is the option on the link. I thought this problem started after i deleted Adobe however. I'm not sure because i wasn't expecting this problem and am not exactly sure the sequence of when things happened, but i wanted to delete Adobe reader because i had no use for it. Unfortunately, they didn't provide an uninstaller. I put the application in the trash and whatever else was in the folder, and emptied the trash, but got a lot of messages about various files not being able to be deleted because they were in use. I think it was since then that i can't open PDF files. Never had a problem before getting involved with Adobe Reader. Anyway, as far as your answer goes, i have already deleted as much of it as i can.
Any other suggestions? i downloaded the Adobe installer to reinstall it if that's what it takes. i need to be able to open PDF files.

When Mozilla Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe Reader needed updating. After updating to Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to a file. I know the printer and its interface must be OK because Word prints normally.

Problem solved, it was my oversight, I had not removed the check from the Print to File box in the print set up.

Questions in upgrading Adobe Reader

I have to upgrade latest version of Adobe Reader in thousands of PC, by deployment in Group Policy Management, Those PC has different version (e.g. 5.0 to 9.0). The problem is, the new version is deployed and installed, the older version still exist. Do anyone got solution on remove older version automatically? thanks!!!

Adobe Reader 11.0.06 installed and worked fine on my Mavericks 10.9.1. You should not have an open Safari browser during the actual install.
Have you used Disk Utility to verify/repair your file permissions?

I need major help with Adobe Reader!

I am a student and I need Adobe Reader for my e-books and when I click on my chapter to read it, Adobe Reader says not responding after a few seconds and closes. I have double checked the license agreement and accepted twice so I know that is not the case. I have also cleared the cookies and uninstalled Adobe Reader and re-installed Adobe Reader. Tech Support at my school can't even figure it out. Please help!! I needed to start reading my chapters yesterday! Thank you!

It will only work if I uninstall 10.1.4 first before I can install 10.1.8.
Now to uninstall 10.1.4 i need the GUID found here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Installer
How do I have to do write my script, so it will identify the GUID of any newer version of the Reader?

Updated version to deploy updates and customizations through GPO:
    Download the latest Adobe Reader Multilingual msi installer and msp updates:
- http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows
- Adobe Reader 11.0 - Multilingual (MUI) installer         135MB         10/14/2012
- Adobe Reader 11.0.01 update - Multilingual (MUI) installer     10.5 MB     1/8/2013
    Copy these files to the same location.
    Open the 'AcroRead.msi' in Adobe Customization Wizard XI.
        Adobe Customization Wizard XI download.
            ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz110 00_en_US.exe
    Make any changes necessary for your environment.
        Such as Language, Silent, accept EULA, supress reboot, disable product updates, etc...
    Once all changes are complete, go to 'Transform' and then 'Generate Transform'
    Save this file as 'AcroRead.mst' in the same directory.
    Go to file and 'Save Package' to save the MSI.
    On your local computer, launch this command to encapsulate the .msp update into the .msi installer from a DOS command prompt :
msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp
    Copy the folder in a share and configure GPO using the msi package and mst file

After upgrading, Adobe reader is not working.

After upgrading to 10.10.2, Adobe reader is not working. It is asking for user agreement to be signed. I cannot find this again. I have uninstalled and re-installed but still does not appear. I have tried to contact Adobe with no luck. Can anyone help please?

Reading the FAQ I notice this:

Modify the appearance of Adobe Reader
I don't know if adding an item to context menu could be considered as "Modify appearance", besides this seems that RIKLA only applies for vary specific types of plugins and closed to very few people... I don't know if I need to worry about this or not because of being a commercial plugin.

It's not just a licensing requirement. Without the RIKLA you cannot make Reader plug-ins at all. Adobe will vet your proposal and decide if they will permit it, and what license fee you will pay.
