NEED: Illustrator - Flash Compatibility List

Does Adobe have a list of Illustrator effects and techniques
that are NOT compatible with Flash? If not, Adobe, please, get this
to us now! For example, I've found that drop shadows and dashed
strokes do not translate to Flash.
I've been working with professional illustrators for years
building Flash Web sites. They use Illustrator, and while the
support is better in CS3, it's still not seamless. I need to
educate these illustrators about what to avoid.

Yep, never thought of that - I know nothing about A.S. or php. Just learning both. I'm a C and VB guy so this is all new to me.
For some reason it tries to download and open the script file (and opens the php script in Dreamweaver) instead of displaying the XML data when I go to http://localhost/hr/source.php. Which explaines why A.S. cannot parse the XML data into nodes. I am running this on my production computer XP pro IIS ver 5.1 Any thoughts?

I only need Illustrator and photoshop rather than all of the applications?

Hi,
I'm looking in to using Creative Cloud but i already have InDesign CS6 so i would only need Illustrator and photoshop.
Can you just get the two application or do you have to get the full Creatyive Suite?
And what are the cost for this?

You can indeed purchase a Single App membership, see this link. Pricing is listed on the Creative Cloud Plans page. But honestly, once you are paying for two single app memberships you are close enough to the price of a full Creative Cloud membership that you'll probably want to go that route (and get access to additional apps, services, and more).

Does my 2008 macbook pro need adobe flash player and why is it so slow?

I was at another question and they had recommended downloading EtreCheck to get their question.
I am trying to find out if I need Adobe flash player installed?
Also, my Macbook Pro works fine online for speed, but opening any applications (pages, numbers, iPhoto,) anything installed is painfully slow.
It plays youtube just fine.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press thereturn key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press returnthree times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I am having similar problem. Can't open any of CS3 programs after trying to download Dreamweaver Trial, which wouldn't work because "couldn't remove DLM extention" error message. So now I can not run Illustrator, Photoshop, or even Adobe Reader. These are properly licensed for about a year. I get "License for product has stopped working". Have 2 pending cases open with Adobe support (one for Dreamweaver trial, one for license problem) since 8/3 with NO ANSWERS - It says answers within 1-3 business days. Was on phone support hold today for over 3 hours before line went dead with no help. What is up with adobe support? Can anyone help?

Some sites say I need shockwave flash 8 or higher - I have 10 installed

I've downloaded Flash 4 times, now showing up in my program list, but when i try to use it, it says I NEED adobe flash??????

I am going to refrain from making any remarks on Norton / Symantec, but only address the issue at hand.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. It took me to the Adobe site, and I proceeded to download and install what was presented to me. When I went back to the site, the same message popped up, saying I needed Adobe 11.1 or higher. What am I doing wrong?

What is the operating system and browser you are using when downloading/installing Flash Player (presumably from get.adobe.com/flashplayer)?
For reference, the current system requirements are posted here http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html. If the os/browser combination is not listed, then 10.3 is offered for download.

BIOS doesnt recognize SATA connected Hard Drive- need help flashing bios from bootable USB

I have an envy laptop running InsydeH20 bios rev f14.
the bios doesn't recognize the internally connected hdd/ssd.
I have heard that with insyde bios', sometimes you have to unlock 'secret capabilities' to recognize hardware incl internal hdd.
but I am just trying to reflash my bios.
the problem is that I cant get into windows because it doesn't recognize my hard drive and windows doesn't allow insallation to usb connected drives.
I downloaded the patch from hp.com for my product and it actually has an option for making a bootable USB for use on the actual system, and I did this. the instructions are to just restart my computer with the bootable usb. I have tried Legacy support on and off, neither updates bios.
I highly doubt it has anything to do with the physical sata connector.
basically I need to flash my bios from bootable usb. I have done some research about making a bootable dos usb etc etc but I don't know what program to even run and how..

I need to flash the bios of my system. the bios is not recognizing hardware and cannot boot into windows to run the bios flash for windows.
on my other comp I ran the bios update patch and chose ' install to bootable usb ' so that I could use it on my system.
cannot run on my laptop. tried booting from the media. tried allowing 'legacy' compatibility.

Just a suggestion, but I don't let windows AUTOMATICALLY install anything. That's a bad idea IMHO. For example, I'm in no rush to install IE7 given I use firefox most of the time.
You might want to switch things so that windows notifies you that there are updates available but then waits for you to review things and decide what you really want -- that is, do a custom install.
Of course I was stupid and immediately upgraded to itunes 7 -- an action that I will forever regret. Oy.

Do i need to flash my R9 280x

Having a bit of trouble with my 2 day old r9 280x (MSI Gaming Edition), im slowly getting there but have one final issue.
So spent the last two days with a new build, everything going ok apart from the gpu. I originally started having weird cut outs and msi z87-g45 would have inconsistent booting. Turns out the mobo wasn't seated properly so i completely rebuilt and was sorted. The only issue im having now is when i boot from gpu it gives me some codes, the bios is like half the screen and i cant access it properly (its perfectly fine booting into windows etc)
I get a c9 code followed by a3 and then ab, then the bios goes half screen. When i try to get into the bios you can only see the temp section and it freezes. Very odd indeed but i would like to have access to the bios at some point so do i need to flash the gpu? Using the onboard video of the z87 is fine, i can get around the bios but i obviously dont want to be doing that every time. The mobo is at the latest version if you need to know that.

Do you really mean QX9560? I can't seem to find it on the motherboard's support list.
If you meant the QX9650, it says it requires BIOS v1.0, which it should have already come with. Check out in CPU-Z what BIOS version you currently have.

Set compatibility list to default to IE9 instead of 7

I need to deploy some sites to run under compatibility mode as IE9 under IE11. The issue I am facing is that when setting is deployed through GPO, it defaults to IE7. Is there anyway that I can tell IE11 to run sites that are in the compatibility list
to run as IE9 and not IE7?
