Need info about nvidia graphics card supported with premiere pro cs5

Hi
I need information about nvidia graphics card supported with premiere pro cs5
If I have a computer(portable) with this video card or graphics card :
nVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX  285M with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory available in Single or Dual (SLi) Configurations
Microsoft® DirectX® 10 Compatible
is it going to support MPE in premiere  pro cs5?
Regards,
Vinay

To be clear:
You asked about supported cards. Here is a list of supported cards. Others on this thread are telling you how to make an unsupported card function to some degree using a method that is not advocated by Adobe.

  • Need info about graphics card supported with pre pro cs5

    Hi,
I checked one information about supported graphics card  about pre pro cs5 on aodbe.com,
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/search_result.html?manuSearchVar=1&modelSearchVar=0 &supportSearchVar=0&brand=&dataFormat=&version=CS5&device=graphic&format=&buttonSubmit=
Under SUPPORT column it is mentioned for ATI and NVIDIA "Legacy support" and "Full support".
What is the difference in "Legacy support" and "Full support"?
I am not able to understand
    Vinay

Premiere will use just about any graphics card to write to the screen so you may see what you are doing
For hardware MPE you must use a specific nVidia card... or a non-supported nVidia card with a small hack
For a list of supported nVidia CUDA cards go to the FAQ

  • Graphics Card issues with Premiere Pro CS4

    Hey there,
I've placed the screenshot of my problem at the bottom of this post.
I'm having lots of issues with premiere pro CS4 and editing videos since I upgraded to Windows 7. I have some .mpg and .MP4 videos. Both of which play fine in WMP, VLC, WinAmp, VirtualDJ etc. But when I load them into PPRO CS4, as you can see in the screenshot they go green and pink. And they don't move. I.e you see one still image and hear only audio.
Now a fix I have found for this is to uninstall my graphics card. But this is no way an option to edit videos, as the resoultion goes from 1920 x 1080 to 1024 x 768.
I should add that I am runnig the following system:
    Dell Vostro 1000 Latpop
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit
    2.00Ghz AMD Sempron Processor
    2GB RAM
ATI Radeon XPress 1150 Graphics card
I have the latest graphics card drivers installed. I am just wondering what the problem is, and a potential fix. Would be great to hear any advice,
    Regards,
    Adam.

OK, here are some other things to think about:
ATI/AMD Catalyst seems to have an issue with one of the latest versions, maybe rollback to an earlier version.
Depending on your OS, check Hardware Acceleration (though this usually affect smoothness of playback) in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Advanced.
    Check your OpenGL settings.
In Catalyst, turn OFF any GPU Acceleration
That's about all that I can think of for now, and those are shots in the dark.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Graphics card supported by Premiere Pro 2014

    Hi,
"simple" question about a new graphics card, I saw a list of supported card and I havent found the R9 280 and only the R9 290 in present.
R9 280 isnt supported anyway by Premiere Pro?
System requirements | Adobe Premiere Pro
In case the XFX R9 290 DD 4096MB GDDR5, 5000/947MHz PCIE3, 2-Slot, AMD Radeon is good to work with or there is something better?
    Another choise is ASUS R9 280X DC2T 3GD5 3072MB GDDR5, 6400/1070MHz PCIE3, 2-Slot, AMD Radeon if its supported.
    Thank you very much
    Matteo

    Hi matteot1981,
Thank you for posting on Adobe forums.
Since the R9 290 is tested by us, i would suggest you to go for that. Looks like the R9 280X is a good one too but we haven't tested it.
    Thanks,
    Rameez

  • Why is the Nvidia GTX 680 CUDA card supported by Premiere Pro CC, and NOT After Effects CC?

Why is the Nvidia GTX 680 CUDA card supported by Premiere Pro CC, and NOT After Effects CC?

Thanks Todd for all the info.  It is much appreciated and very helpful.  On a different note, could you possibly direct me to the correct forum to fix this bug?  I am suddenly recieving a warning on my System SSD referencing Adobe Exchange.  Here is a screen grab to best explain:

  • Information about GPUs supported by Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Hi,
I'm going to buy a new nVidia video card and, because of I'm very passionate of video editing, I want finally have one supported by Premiere Pro CS5.5. I've read something about that on the Adobe site, and I've found a list of supported GPUs:
GeForce GTX 285 (Windows and Mac OS)
    GeForce GTX 470 (Windows)
    GeForce GTX 570 (Windows)
    GeForce GTX 580 (Windows)
    Quadro FX 3700M (Windows)
    Quadro FX 3800 (Windows)
    Quadro FX 3800M (Windows)
Quadro FX 4800 (Windows and Mac OS)
    Quadro FX 5800 (Windows)
    Quadro 2000 (Windows)
    Quadro 2000D (Windows)
    Quadro 2000M (Windows)
    Quadro 3000M (Windows)
Quadro 4000 (Windows and Mac OS)
    Quadro 4000M (Windows)
    Quadro 5000 (Windows)
    Quadro 5000M (Windows)
    Quadro 5010M (Windows)
    Quadro 6000 (Windows)
    Quadro CX (Windows)
Now I'm asking, if I bought a GTX 550, which is not in the list, would it be supported? I think so becase, however, it should be better than, for example, a GTX 470, instead present in the list. But I have this doubt... Can you clarify my ideas?

    Welcome to the forums!
It depends on what you mean by supported.  If you mean can you use either of them then the answer is yes. The supported list is those cards specifically have been tested by Adobe and are listed in the "cuda_supported_cards.txt" file  If you have another card you may have to add it to that file.  If you take a look at the Premiere Pro BecnMark (PPBM5) you will see that many other cards are being used by people that have submitted their results,
The more important factors that you should consider is the number of CUDA cores and how much power your system can supply to this upgrade that you intend to do.  The 470 has 448 CUDA cores and requires 215 watts.  The 550 is of course a slightly new design but it is at the low end of the CUDA cores with only 192 cores but it only draws 116 watts.  Either could require you to upgrade your power supply depending on how much spare power is available in your power supply.
Here are some boards that I personally tested about a month ago (prices may have changed) showing PPBM5 (MPEG2-DVD, H.264 and Rendering the Timeline) encoding times versus board type.

  • Adobe Audition CS5.5 with Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello everybody.
I am considering downgrading from Master Collection CS5 to Adobe Production Premium CS5.5
But quite frankly it's just because of one application.
Though, i am in doubt if i'll actually going to make the downgrade.
And as you could and might have guessed it is the Adobe Audition CS5.5 Application.
Though really the whole pack has a GREAT improvement overall, I just actaully want to mix SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro and sound editing application (Audition).
Which leads me to my next question.
Now with Adobe Soundbooth CS5 closed off (by April 24th), and an UPGRADE for Soundbooth CS5 users to Audition CS5. Does this mean that Audition CS5.5 works SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro CS5?
Is there a dynamic link between the two applications? (Audition CS5.5 and Premiere Pro CS5)
AM i able to send mixes between the two? I really don't want to loose any Audio data, such as 5.1 channel mapping, volume mixing, denoising, general mixing etc.
All i really need is some good quality sound editing which works seamless, as After Effects and Premiere Pro has proved to me can be done.
Just want to know if it is possible. Or if I REALLY have to upgrade in order to get the sweet apples.
    Best
    Lucas

    Hi _durin_
    Thanks for your quick response.
But I didn't quite understand your answer.
I have seen Jason Levine's video earlier, as CS5.5 was announced and it looks natively good. I understand the mixdown attributes etc.
Please correct me if im wrong HOWEVER this workflow and settings applies still to ONLY the new CS5.5 Version?
Im currently using Master Collection CS5.
Instead of getting either the Production Premium, or Master Collection I am strongly considering updating Soundbooth CS5 to Audition CS5.5 (the option is there as i can tell by SoundBooth's website, though i get a weird error message when I click the update link...)
However I need to know, IF Audition CS5.5 works well with the PREVIOUS version (that'll be CS5 not 5.5), of Premiere Pro.
Are there an option to render the reference video, and generate a interchange session from WITHIN Premiere Pro CS5 to Audition CS5.5?
Im sorry if I either sound harsh or "willingly" misunderstanding. But I have only documentation on how the integration works between the current versions (meaning 5.5).
Im as you can guess VERY confused over the move from Adobe to make a .5 version instead of a full-fledged CS6 solution. It causes a stir, cause I then don't know much of the integration between the previous applications.
I have seen as an example that Photoshop CS5 have gotten the update to receive paintings/files made with their new touch API. So I wonder whether integrational features will be a part of the CS5 pack since, as i've mentioned, an application like Soundbooth gets replaced with Audition, with an upgrade option for the Soundbooth owners.
Im confused and hope you can help me clear my mind up, whether to upgrade or not. I will download the trial eventually, but not onto my current CS5 system since I already use this in my daily video work and want to AVOID confusion.
    Best

  • Non NVidia graphics card issues with Adobe and Mountain Lion

It took me a while to figure it out, but now I am certain. If using a Mac with a non nvidia graphics card there will be issues in Mountain Lion while using Adobe products. I tested this with Illustrator CS6 for over a year on 5 different Mac computers.
    Here is what happens
As soon as I open Illustrator on a Mac without a NVidia graphics card and I attend to apply an shadow effect, Illustrator crashes. If I do this procedure on a Mac with a NVidia inside, all works well.
I tested this on the following Macs
MacBook Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia 9600M GT - it works
MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Radeon 6750M - doesn't work
Mac Pro (Early 2009) with Radeo HD 5770 - doesn't work
The same Mac Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia GT120 - it works
MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with Intel HD 4000 - doesn't work
iMac (Late 2012) with NVidia 680MX - it works
Since I owned all these Macs, I could test it several times with different kind of software updates. 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 did deliver the same result. Everytime the same result.
Already got in touch with Adobe
With Illustrator CS5 it worked like a charme, so I assumed it could be an Adobe issue. But Adobe support told me, it's Apple's fault since 10.8 uses different processes for the graphics performance.
What can be done, to resolve this issue? I cannot buy only Macs with NVidia inside, since the small portable front of Macs is only coming with Intel graphics cards. And is there anybody out there, having this issue? I cannot be the only one, using shadows in Illustrator.

A typical response.  IMO it's most likely a combination of Adobe's reluctance to fix the issue combined with Apple's desire for advancement and change.  I've personally experienced several things that've become broken owing to Apple changing fundamental aspects of the OS, and the developers of the third-party software in question have either never fixed their software, or are taking their sweet time.  WireTap Studio and Snapz Pro from Ambrosia are a case in point, though they eventually fixed Snapz Pro.  Eventually…
Frankly, good luck getting either side to do anything about this.  Your best bet is probably getting in touch with AppleCare and seeing if you can get this escalated to Engineering, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix from either party.  Or perhaps one of the Apple mailing lists will prove useful.

Although Thunderbolt is available on MBPs, MBPs with Thunderbolt enabled are still signinficantly slower than Windows desktops and laptops with the same CPU. This is, as Harm mentioned, due to their lack of ports offered. Even with Thunderbolt, MBPs are still available only with onboard Intel graphics or AMD/ATi GPUs (which cannot use Premiere Pro CS5.5's MPE GPU acceleration feature at all), and they do not support even two fast hard drives (the only supported fast hard drive on the MBP is the OS drive, and all of the offered external ports on most MBPs are significantly slower than the internal physical transfer speed of the OS drive). A few MBP's come with FW 800 ports, but even those are slower than the internal physical transfer speed of many notebook hard drives.
And did I mention that all versions of OSX (including the current release) are very poor at multithreading?
Who needs the FW 800 ports when you can daisy chain up to six devices through the Thunderbolt port?  The MBP has one TB port and the new iMac has two TB ports.  Take a look at these links:

  • Closed captioning with Premiere Pro CS5.5, exported to wmv/mp4

My employer suddenly has a push to be ADA compliant, so all videos going forward need to have captioning, and would prefer to have it closed captioned. I've read that you can add captions with Encore and output them to disc, but since all of the videos are posted online, nothing is burned to disc so that doesn't help. I also know you can use scc or mcc files to add closed captions to a broadcast stream, but since these aren't for broadcast, that doesn't help either.
All of this means is that I need to add closed captioning to online video only. What I'd like to know is this: Is there any way to add closed captioning to video that will be streamed online? Or, am I doomed to putting everything into lower thirds?
I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.5 (I also have AE CS5.5).
    Thanks

As a broadcast engineer, I would suspect, and it would make sense that online video files would also be encoded with EIA-608 and EIA-708 set forth by the Electronic Industries Alliance and monitored by the FCC ( Broadcast Standard ). This makes sense to me as all existing video programs which already comply with the EIA-608 and 708 standards would then, automatically play closed captioning when encoded to a video file for playback.
The FCC has recently required all online video to include Closed Captioning as per the Accessibility Act of 2010 ( FCC: MB Docket No. 11-154) Subpart 6 of this document appears to define that all devices which may playback video through the internet, must be able to support the CEA-708, or closed captioning for digital broadcast television. CEA-708 is a form of embedded data often referred to as metadata which is contained within the MPEG-2 stream.
Not to get too technical about MPEG streams, but in essence, even though your end up with a single file, there are traditionally 3 elementary streams of data contained within. Each one has a PID, or Program Identifier number which identifies the Video Stream, Audio 1 stream and Audio 2 Stream. Additional elementary streams can be added such as a data stream containing Closed Captioning- or whatever like Dolby Digital. The PID allows a Demultiplexer to split the streams appropriately for playback.
I would hope there is a program out there that would embed the scc or mcc file ( however they are produced )  possibly after you export the sequence to a file. One of my favoite and best kept secret long-term video websites out there is videohelp DOT com. there is a plethera of kewl software to do all weird things to video, maybe even add CC!
All this still doesn't help us with Premiere Pro though...

  • NVIDIA Diplay driver crashes in Premiere Pro CS5.5

I have been editing AVCHD video in the latest version of Premiere Pro CS5.5 for some time now and then suddenly about 3 weeks ago I started having problems where the NVIDIA display driver for my GTX 580 would crash and then recover but kick me out of Premiere Pro in the process.  I had the Mercury Playback Hardware engine enabled.  Chaging it to software render mode fixed the issue and ultimately rolling my video drivers back to a previous version seemed to eliminate the problem completely allowing me to enable hardware render mode again.
I turned off auto updates on my video card since then and last night the problem suddenly came back.  This time software render mode crashes too.  I can even have Premiere Pro open and not be doing anyhting and sometimes after a while it just randomly crashes.  It happens with all my projects and never in the same place on the timeline.
I deleted all of the render files and recreated them and even imported the project into a new project.  This did not fix it.
I tried reinstalling old and new drivers using the "clean install" feature.  No good.
I edited the TDR settings in my registry increasing the delay time before it recovers as recommended by Microsoft when this issue occcurs and this did not resolve my issue.
I am really concerned now because from everyhting I have read it should be working in software render mode.  Since it's not I am at a loss.
I have other programs that use CUDA hardware rendering and none of them have an issue.  It just seems to be with Premiere.
I also checked the temperature of the video card and that's fine.  No overheating issues with my MOBO either.
I read somewhere that it could even be caused by a drop in clock speed on the card so I downloaded a utility to overclock my card and that didn't resolve the issue either.
Any ideas?  I'm in crunch time on a major project and I can't render, export or do anything without it crashing.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, 12 GB of RAM, terabytes of hard drive space and an intel 6 core processor.  My specs are well above the requirements.  I have had this card since December and like I said, the issues just started a few weeks ago.
    Thanks.

I am not at home so I haven't tried rolling back further but I can confirm the version drivers that I tried are 320.18 which was working for a while, 320.49 and 327.23.
For reference I have Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 and the latest Windows 7 64-bit updates installed.
The mobo is an ASUS P6T Deluxe.
When I reinstall the NVIDIA drivers I use the clean install option which completely removes the previous version before reinstalling.  I found that I have to reinstall this is the best way since uninstalling from the control panel only adds the drivers back on a reboot.
