Need info on Creative Zen Mic

<SPAN class=postbody>I'm thinking of buying Creative Zen Micro and I have a few questions: What exactly is "Removable Disk mode"? Can I transfer mp3 between Removable Disk mode space and normal space? Can I transfer mp3 from my pc to Zen without installing any programs (just by pluging it into usb and drag'n'droping it in "My Computer" explorer)? Are there any copyright protections in Zen?
<SPAN class=postbody>Thank you.

butch wrote:Are you stupid? After all the raplies saying it's a horrible device you are still planning to buy it's Don't act stupid and buy an ipod like I did. For 20$ more you get 5gb more.
I thought about buying IPod or IPod Mini, but what realy turns me off them is ITunes (the only way to transfer songs onto IPod) and all those crazy copyright protection schemes that IPods have.

  • Creative Zen Mic

    Hello!
I have had a Zen since february, and it developed a problem with the headphopne jack. I then retured the zen to amazon and got a replacement.
I have recieved the replacement, and now i am having some problems! When i try to "audiosync" the zen, it seems to take a long time, and then when it is finished, there is nothing transfered. I then unplug the zen and it freezes on the creative page, and then freezes on the "rebuilding libary" page on the zen aswell!
This has happened quite a few times now, and i have reformatted the zen as many times as this has froze! and NOW aparently the zen is froze on the format function!
I am using windows XP, and tryin to use the creative media source!
    HELP!

If Rescue Mode functions aren't working the player is faulty unfortunately. You need to contact Creative Support.

If anybody Have a solution for install my zen micro or can help me , please ... I have to buy another Mp3 Player ? This have a solution ?Thanks ,i hope that you can help me. Regards

I updated my Firmware as stated by Creative Labs support team. I downloaded on my son's PC which has Window's XP Pro edition. Again, on his PC there is no problem with recognition of the device and/or player. However, when I plug my player into my PC which has Vista, the device manager has a "!" next to ZEN Micro Photo. So my PC "See's" the player. However, when you right click and then go to "Properties" it states that "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" Then it states to "reinstall the drivers" But when I tried to install or reinstall the "Driver" using the install wizard, I get an error message... "An error occurred during the installation of the device" and " A service installation section in this INF is invalid" Then a pop bubble appears and says "Found new hardware" You may have a problem with your device. It may not be working properly" So what do I do at this point. The only way for me currently to download music is to use my son's PC. At least I have another option... I feel sorry for the rest of you. When will creative wake up and smell the Vista!!

  • I Need Help With My Zen Mic

I don't know what is wrong. I have a Creative Zen Micro 6 GB. I received it as a gift a couple Christmases back. One day I went to turn it on to listen to it and it said that it was on Recovery Mode. Then it had a list that looked something like this.
    Creative Zen Micro v0.0.65
    1. Clean Up
    2. Format All
    3. Reload Firmware
    4. Reboot
That was about fi've or six months ago, and I still haven't been able to fix it. I went to reboot it, and it just went back to the same screen. I did the clean up, and I know I deleted all my songs and stuff because I hit the Format All. I went to Circuit City to see if they could help and they said to go to the website and download the firmware, but when I did, it said there were no firmware updates.
If anyway could help I would be really greatfull. I would hate to have to buy a stupid iPod.
    -Ariel

It's either the v.0 firmware, or v2.0 firmware. Mine's running 2.0, and the recovery menu says v0.0.65. I don't know if the v.0 will show something different.
You should be running Windows XP, and preferably have Windows Media Player 0. People have reported problems with WMP. Some have reported problems when running Service Pack 2. To check your service packs, go to Start > Run > winver It will say "Windows XP 5.._________ (Service Pack __)"
If you're running v firmware (Requires Creative MediaCenter), ensure that MediaCenter (or whatever it's called) is installed properly.
If you're running v2 firmware, having that software installed can sometimes mess things up.
If you have access to a second computer, I'd strongly recommend that. Try this: Start up your Zen, keep the backlight ali've, and watch very carefully. Does it say "Firmware Problem" for a split second before cutting to the recovery menu? Turn it off and back on, but hold the back of the player against your ear, or someone with good hearing. Do you hear the microdri've spin up?

  • What type of hard drive do I need for a Creative Zen Vision

    Hey everybody.
I have a Creative Zen Vision:M, and unfortunately after dropping it, the hard drive has decided to pack up!
I have decied to replace the hard dri've, but wondered which hard dri'ves are compatible with the Zen Vision:M? I know the hard drive is a .8" drive, but that's all I know what to look for so far...
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
It uses a standard 2.5" HDD. You can find them around in any good computer shop. You can use larger (capacity) as well. If you wish to find exactly the same one please try:
    (a) Open Device Manager,
    (b) Expand Disk drives item
You can see brand and model of the current HDD on your computer. If it failed already, pull it out and check.
    Regards.

  • Suggestion for new mp3 player (had a creative zen mic

Well time for me to get a new mp3 player. Because Creative wasn't very good at honouring my warranty (four players didn't work properly and they wouldn't replace the fourth) I am reluctant to get another creative. But if you guys tell me they have come along way AND I can use my previous charger with a new player, then I'll consider it.Suggestions?

i have the zen v plus and i am quite happy with it, i just updated to the latest firmware, it charges by plugging into your computer USB (cable provided) its a budget nano competitor that has great user interface and i personally thing the design is really cool and it plays videos, but im trying to get creative to include compression video support in future firmware cause the video it supports is like 4 MB to 8 seconds of video :| the sound quality is pretty good, but then again i dont know your standards it has an inbuilt FM receiver and line in/mic recording
    im really happy with it.

  • Downloading Audiobooks for Creative Zen Mic

    Hi!
This is my first mp3 player, so, does anyone know where i can download the 'Gorillaz rise of the orgre' audiobook?
I don't think you can from the itunes because its apple.
But can the Micro download audiobook tracks?
If you know, then please let me know.
    Many thanks!

    Gum56 wrote:
I know that getting the Zen to play them in order has to do with the id tags, so can anyone recommend a program that can handle the job?
Do the files have tags already? If not you can pull the data from the filename into the tag using a program like Tag & Rename or The Godfather (Google to find these).
Both of these should also be able to autonumber the track number field of the tag, which governs order, which typically they do in filename order. For more on order see the "how to make sure tracks play in order" link in the FAQ post.
Also as a side note how do I get organize the audiobook files on the Zen say for instance if I put 5 Stephen King books on there it looks like all the books are one album when I have put them on using the nomad explorer in their own folders i.e.,
Stephen King - The Stand (Complete Parts & 2 in stereo)
Stephen King - The Talisman (in stereo)
But when I go to organize the Zen all of the Stephen King will be under his name like they are all on album. I just got the Zen about 3 days ago and trying to organize it has been a BIG headache. Can anyone help me with this please?
To have books under different albums you need to use the album tag to diffentiate between them. For example those for The Stand should have that, or similar, in the album tag.

  • Disapointed in Creative (zen mic

Ive had 3 zen micros (all silver) all 3 have lasted 2 months before the headphone jack starts up (the "headphone jack problem"). I would like to say im EXTREMELY disapointed in creative for making such a lackluster product, then not acknowleding their mistake. This has cost me numerous trips to the futureshop(much like a Canadian version of the American Circut City) where they hesitate to replace my micro, and thus causing me alot of annoyance with the product. From a usually reliable company such as creative I must say this has come as a shock, I purchased the micro because I felt it was top quality player from a top quality company. I find my faith in creative to be shaken at this point as 3 zen micros in a span of 6 months is ludacris. I feel after I spent about 370 doller Canadian of my hard earned money I deserve to have a product that will work. What I would like is creative to announce there is a problem with the micros and possibly fix this problem or they may loose a customer.

Bad luck , and it is bad of Creative not to apologise.
You are however in a very very small minority (not that that's much comfort...)

  • Playstation portable or creative zen mic

what do you guys think I should do should I buy a zen micro or a plyastation portable because it is one or the other need help deciding?I love music and have lots of it but not alot alot also whats the usual amount of songs that are able to fit on a zen micro alos when using the calander, address book what not how much space does that take up?thanx

Dude, go with the PSP. Not only can you play games, but you can also buy a memory card for the PSP big enough to store all the music you want. They have up to Gig cards now that are compatible with the PSP. (I forgot the name of Sony's cards that they use, sorry). If you want just an MP3 player, buy an MP3 player. If you want a portable gaming system that also has MP3 player and UMD movie capabilities, buy a PSP.

  • Need help with Creative Zen: Vision M 60 gig vers

I have?a somewhat?complicated problem. I went to the store set on buying the largest possible storage space, that was not an Ipod. The salesman told me that the 60 gig version was not available at all where I li've (Norway). I believed him and, somewhat disappointed,?bought the 30 gig version instead (It didn't have enough?space for everything I intended to put on it). I went home, installed the program, inserted the player?and everything worked fine. It recharged normally, the media explorer could locate the player and I could transfer files back and forth. Then I went to my buddy's place, whose?50 gig, perfectly organized?music collection was my main reason for buying this thing. I wanted to copy his whole collection, but since I only had a measly 30 gigs, I only copied what I viewed as most essential. I was reasonably happy with my purchase. Imagine my surprise then when I browsed the Creative homepage and saw that you could have the 60 gig?Vision M shipped to Norway for only a meager increase in cost over what I had paid at the store. I cursed the?sleazy?swindler of a salesman, who?was probably trying to empty?his stocks,?and promptly went back to the store and traded in my 30gig for an imported 60gig?(I didn't have the balls to denounce the salesman, unfortunately). I received?my new gadget?a few days later. I was a little curious about whether my already installed Media Explorer would work with the new player, but it seemed to work fine without having to reinstall the program included in the new package. Not so on my buddy's computer. When I inserted the player in his USB dri've, the computer recognized it's(a notice popped up asking me what to do next time the player was inserted) but the Media Explorer did not. "Your player is not connected". Ah well. I brought out the CD and reinstalled the Media Explorer. Still nothing. I reinstalled everything that was on the CD. Nope, still can't find it. What?to do? I want that?music!!

Press and hold the Menu/Back button to return to the main menu. The two buttons to the side of the touchpad are Previous/Rewind and Next/Fast.

  • Help needed urgently! creative zen touch 40gb forgets that songs ex

I have had my player for 6 months with no problem but yesterday it forgot 2000 songs existed. It still displayed the artist name but everytime i clicked on them it came up with "add music from libary press menu button" However on the other artists (keep in mind i have 7000 songs) it is fine. But It has forgot around 2000 songs.
Then i thought i would try to upload the songs again. This is when i discovered once my player is docked it only displays 2 songs by each artist which is rubbish because in some cases i have 80 songs by a certain artist. So i have no idea why it displays 2 songs.
I then noticed a unknown folder which has files in it such as ??23323d?. These "tracks" have blue logos next to them on the left hand side. I have no idea what they are but it will not let me delete them. It also will not let me add any more tracks and everytime i unplug the usb it crashes. It also takes about a minute to turn on now instead of the couple of seconds it took before. And pauses and crashes accure quite often now.
It's probably a long shot but is there anything i can do? All help either big or small will be appreacited. And if you need more detail just ask me.
    Thanks mike x

    Mike,
Probably you can try running Cleanup option from the player Rescue mode.

  • How do I reset my creative zen mic

I've been trying to figure it out but I just don't know.

A reset is basically a case of removing the battery and reseating. You can perform a further reset by doing the disk cleanup.
