Need info on good dial up ISP

I would like to become an Apple user but before I pull the trigger to buy an Imac, I would like to know who provides a good dial up service. I live in Franklin, Wis. I was told AOL & Earthlink support Mac but is there anything else out there? I'm asking cause I'm not getting a lot of answers from the local Apple Store. I use my current PC 2 or 3 times a week just for surfing the net and word processing but I'm spending to much time upgrading security issues than I am using this computer. I'm hoping getting an Imac will make it more enjoyable using a computer again. But I got to ask after reading a lot of these discussions that Apples seem to have just as many irritations as my PC has with internet problems, browser problems, connection problems etc. so I don't know if I'll be ahead of the game with Apple.

You don't need anything from an isp, except your local access numbers and the settings for their mail server (whether POP or IMAP, the incoming and outgoing servers).
Hmm. the access4less.net website doesn't seem to be working--maybe they got bought out by someone else. In any case, go to www.findanisp.com and you'll find plenty of other alternatives in the same price range.
EDIT If you already have an isp when you get your mac, the setup process asks you about it. Enter the phone number and you're all set. Then go to mail.app and enter the mail server info. That's all there is to it.

There is no "version" of iTunes that let's you download artwork without an account. However, it's simple to search online for the artwork by using the album name. Amazon is a good place to start.
Simply copy the artwork and paste it into iTunes by selecting the complete albuum and clicking File/Get Info and pasting into the artwork box. I usually use pictures that are 300x300 pixels.

What do you mean by "when I brought the messages up back in March"?
Were the messages on your phone? Simply because messages are on your phone does not mean they are still on Verizon's servers. You use internal phone memory to store messages on your phone. The messages do not stay on Verizon's servers until you delete them from your phone.
On the other hand, if you still have your phone and have not reset it since you stopped using it, the texts may still be on your phone. Good luck.

Need help setting up DIal-Up (PPP) on Leopard.

Hey guys. I work tech support/setups for a (very) small dial-up ISP, and my cheap (expletive) boss won't sign off on getting us a copy of Leopard. They feel there aren't enough people with it yet for it to be worth the expense... and so any customers that have called this week needing Leopard setups have had me/us fumbling like an amateur to get them set up since "Network" apparently looks very different compared to Tiger.
OK, long story short, I'm trying to write a quick setup guide for me and the other techs for Leopard calls, until we can get a crash copy of 10.5 for the office. I've done a quick guide so far from what I've gleamed from customers, but what I really need is someone with Leopard to really quickly go through the steps, and make sure all this is accurate. I'll just copy and paste what I've got done so far below.

Mac 10.5 “Leopard” Setup
1)Click on the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2)Choose Network.
3)In the Location drop-down menu, have the user select Edit Locations.
4)Have the user remove any old/unused connections by highlighting them, and then pressing the “-” button.
5)Press the “+” to start creating new connection.
6)Name the connection “LocalNet”, press “Done”
7)From the “Show” drop down, choose “Internal Modem” (or external/USB modem, if that's what the user has installed)
8)A new configuration screen will appear, looking for the ISP information.

Password
9)Have the user click “Advanced”, then choose “Session Options”
10) The only option that should be checked is “Connect Automatically When Needed”
11) Switch over to “Terminal Options”
12) the only options that should be checked are “Use TCP Header Compression” and “Send PPP Echo Packets”
13) Press “Done”, then press “Apply”. The system should be ready to go.

Here's my comments about the following steps:

Not really a big deal but you don't necessarily have to launch it via the Apple menu. System Preferences can be launched directly via the Dock.

There is no need for these two steps. Besides, if a user already has a dial-up account previously set, they should be able to use it.
Step 7 should go after step 9.
For step 8, you might want to have the user enable the "Show modem status in the menu bar" checkbox for easier access to their dial-up service.
For step 9, have it read (Have the user click “Advanced”, then choose “Session Options” from the "PPP" tab)
Steps 10, 11 and 12 are not a must by the way.

N8 questions. In this scenario, you call your VM and as y ou are listening to the messages, you need to open the dialer to delete/save messages, then have to close the dialer and then choose end call. There are 6 steps (open dialer, call, open dialer again, save/delete the vm, close the dialer and then end the call).
Anyone know how to do this more efficiently? Can you end the call while still in the dialer? Is there a way to add a hang up feature to the dialer. No offence, but this kind of mult-step stuff is annoying and doesn't exist on apple or android. thoughts?

We wont use the Win 8.1 Product Key - We will Purchase new Windows 8.1 License for the fourth PC but install our copy of Win XP on the machine (we have only 3 License that we used for the older 3 machines).
Carey's reply only speaks to the technical aspects of installing a dual boot environment. It says nothing about licensing which is what I think you are asking about. I do not believe that you can purchase a Windows 8.1 License and apply it to a
Windows XP install. You need to enter in the Product Key when the OS is installed and I seriously doubt that the XP install will accept the 8.1 Key. If you don't have a 4th key for XP you won't be able to have a legal copy installed.

Hey I installed the planning 9.3.1 and also I created the application name, using planning address. but the problem is I am unable to navigate through workspace. I am getting three dialog boxes....
" invalid or could not find module configuration"
"Required application module hyperioin planning app wizard is not configured.please contact your administrator"
" Communication error"
I'm able to see the application name in projects of shared services. Can any one face the same situation , and also I need info regarding how to initialize modules of capx and wfp.

If you did a standard install then it should be running on port 19000 as well.
I take it workspace is working fine on port 19000

^ this will be your workspace servername..
When you run the configuration utility for Reporting and Analysis and the section "Configure Web Server", this is where you set up the Apache Server for workspace, there is an option for "Planning", this should be ticked and the correct planning server entered as it will default to the workspace server.
The apache server redirects requests on the standard workspace port 19000 to the correct server and port, so for planning it redirects to the planning server and port 8300.

Help Needed Creating AppleScript for Dial Up Access and Updates

Hello,
Due to my location I can only access the internet via Dial Up. I would like to create a script that wakes up my Mini early in the AM, dials my ISP and checks to see if there are any Apple Updates. I'd like to do this at night so my family doesn't have to compete with updates when they are using the computer.
I've done the Apple Scripting tutorials and have a feel how to do the basics. But I cannot find any information on how to access the USB Modem (US Robotics), get it to dial, access the "Check for Updates" page, download, install and then disconnect.
Can anyone point me to a functional script that will do this or tell me where I can find the modem related scripting commands?

If you use man softwareupdate to look at the command line options for softwareupdate you'll find:
-i | --install
Each update specified by args is downloaded and unarchived,
and also installed. The install flag requires root. args
can be one of the following:
item ... One or more update names.
-a | --all All appropriate updates.
-r | --req All required updates.
So '-i' tells softwareupdate to install the updates, and '-a' tells it to install all available updates, as opposed to a specific update, or 'required' ones.
2). Can you suggest an addition to the script that will disconnect the dial up modem and then shut down our Mac Mini?
That's going to be harder because, as written, the script performs the softwareupdate in the background. It does that so that you don't run into timeout issues (by default AppleScript will timeout after a certain period, canceling the script in progress). Since it's not clear how long the updates will take to download and install it isn't possible to predict what the appropriate timeout should be.
The easiest way to disconnect would be to just configure the dialup connection to disconnect after a certain period of idleness (System Preferences -> Network -> Modem -> Advanced -> PPP -> Options or some such). If that doesn't suffice let me know and I'll craft up a revised script.

For SAP FS-CD project, We want to post data into CD by generating the IDOC through LSMW in Delayed Status (With out posting) and will be posted using Mass Run FKK_EBS_TOI_COPA.
What is the standard process of posting throguh IDOC. when i post through IDOC will they be posted with delayed status ( withour real postings). Do we have to run Mass Run FKK_EBS_TOI_COPA for real postings.
I need to know the relevant events for Mass Run FKK_EBS_TOI_COPA.
Also i need info on how to track errors on the below; Is there any way where we can track errors on the below

IDOC generation with error Status --> You can use the WE05 transaction,   in this transaction you will see the error description and you can fixe!
FKK_EBS_TOI_COPA Mass run SLG1 log --> In SLG1 you will see only the error after the IDOC processing.... in this case you alredy have the DOCUMENT (FPE1) Struture... and you can see any error at the document creation... but not on the IDOC processing.
WE19 you can use for creat any IDOC test you need...

We create sales order in CRM, through some B-Docs order will be replicated in ECC.
Entries are getting created in this table based on availability of the materials.
Through Z-Transaction code, we delete entries in this table.
Sometimes blank entries are getting created in this table, I would like to know in which scenario this table is getting updated.

Now my question is, which of the above three cases has got highest priority.

By default, we will maintain language in Bill-to-Party & also Condition record. But if required, it can be chaged at Invoicing level while taking output. Priority will be Bill-to-party, followed by Condition Record.
