Need inputs on Demerger Scenario on BW

Hi Experts,
For a company demerger sceanrio am trying to list down what steps or analysis needs to be done for impact on the SAP BW environment.
Assumption - 1 SAP source system and 1 target BW system.
Appreciate any suggestions or inputs based on experience in similar scenarios.

Am just trying to understand what kind of analysis is required in the merger/demerger scenarios. I dont have any specific scenario for now.
Scenario:
Company has two major entities - A & B
Assume 2 source systems ECC & CRM that feed to 1 BW system
To be scenario is still same 1 ECC & 1 CRM feedign to 1 BW system
The reason for carve out or split in company is say for ensuring legal compliance reporting for A & B separately.
My thoughts:
If the carved out entity B is say configured in ECC under a new company code.
Then FICO reporting split in BW would be simply using company code for modeling and data access.
But what about CRM module data? company code is not really present there, right?
So what can be the possible ways of SAP CRM configuration to handle this carve out?
Again, this is just for me to have better clarity in how such scenarios are usually managed in SAP and then the associated DWH.
If you think this is not a valid scenario - pls do mention the same and a "why" would help too

Hi All,
Need inputs on the given scenario. We have implemented Quotation Management (VA21) for our client. The quotation goes through various levels of approval (or decline) via the Workflow below it is finally given to the customer.
Users usually logs into SAP and approves (or decline) the quotation via the SAP Inbox. We have designed multiple decision process on the work item in the inbox. Alternatively users can also log in to Enterprise portal, which has been designed for them, to act on the quotation. Users are notified in their outlook mail about action that needs to be taken on the quotation.
Now user wants to have the decision process to be implemeted as such that they can take action (approve/reject) via hand held devices (viz Blackberry). We are using ECC 6 and also have Enterprise Portal EP 7EHP1. Owing to cost constraint, client cannot implement SAP CRM Solution.
If anyone of you has implemented such methodolgies or have worked on such solutions request you to get back to me with details regards to the timelines and cost and the desired process.

You could acquire software (e.g. 3i Mobile Workplace or similar) that could handle the decision processing with little effort.
If you wish to build a solution then the time/cost will depend on the complexity of the task visualization. You can create a Java client or use a simple HTML based web app.
The decision task can be visualized using a custom BSP or WebDynpro application. Communication with the BlackBerry could be via RIM push or you could just send an email with a link to your approval application.
The app would need to reserve the workitem and then complete the decision using the appropriate SAP_WAPI* RFC's.
Bear in mind that all the above assumes you are distributing the approval tasks within your corporate network supported by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and MDS.
One of the bigger issues when using web apps is authentication. By default a web app requires the user to log on using their SAP user ID and password. Using a network user ID and password or using silent authentication is possible but requires more effort.

Hello,
Almost all new motherboards today only have a primary ide channel and the rest are SATA.
I need inputs regarding the dvd drive which is shown in device manager as located on the primary ide channel while the hard drive is located on the secondary channel. Because I would like to update the dvd drive to the latest firmware (version 1.06; to be able to recognize more blank media) but the LG site recommends that the drive (dvd) be located on the secondary ide channel.
I already tried to uninstall every channel from the device manager but all would still be the same after reboot, dvd drive on primary, hard drive on secondary.
Current ide mode in BIOS is set to AHCI+IDE mode, DMA modes are fine (UDMA4 for dvd, UDMA5 for hard drive), boot sequence (1st=HD, 2nd=DVD, 3rd=Floppy drive)
Tried switching to IDE mode only in BIOS but would not detect the optical drive. Never tried RAID+IDE mode since I only have a single hard drive.
I'm not sure but if I try to update the firmware, it might instead try to update the hard drive's firmware instead of the optical drive and make the hard drive unusable.
I would like to know if anybody with this same situation was able to successfully update the optical drive's firmware or is there some way to place the optical drive on the secondary ide channel and the hard drive on primary for me to follow and replicate the process.

Just received the solution from another forum where I posted the same problem.
They said that the flash program for the firmware will detect the drive on its own and would not flash other devices except the optical drive itself. So its pretty safe, and I can confirm this since I just flashed my ODD a little over a while ago and everything went fine. No errors.
Though I'm speaking for the brand of ODD I own and may be different for other brands so take precautions as well. It may be different for the others.

If you have such kinda requirement , then it is easy to create WSDL(webservice) on PI System..
Create a normal Xi Interface with normal Steps .....
Your Sender DataType will be acc to Your requirement as clients want...
go to tools - Define webservice ... ( will Use Outound Service Interface and namespace)
read the template and Put values in there . This will genrate a WSDL for you ,
You Can give this Genertaed , WSDL File to Client to consume in their application and Pass data to it ..

Bpm - input from another scenario

hi,
can i get the input for my bpm from another scenario.
I have already done a scenario which converts edi to edi-xml using java mapping.
I would like to give that edi-xml file as input to another scenario which converts this edi-xml into an idoc so that i can post it in R/3.
If there is anyother way to do it also suggestions are accepted.....
but NO purchasing any product lik seeburger adapter..........

A couple of thoughts in no particular order.
1. Read the FAQ and learn how to use { code } tags to post a readable listing
2. Your version number is (all decimal points)
3. Provide DDL for the table
4. Provide INSERT statements with sample data
5. This is horrifying
START_TIME > '01-AUG-2011' Dates are dates ... not strings. Best case you have an implicit conversion ... worst case a statement that will return invalid results. Either change the data type or do an explicit cast with TO_DATE.

JDBC Scenario need inputs

hello friends,
I have scenario, Proxy - XI - JDBC.
i need to make a scheduled insert to the database. But i can make the insert only if the the status is yes in another table.
briefly,
table - status table -> contains status whether i can insert or not
table - contact table -> need to insert data only if yes in the status table.
can we achieve this without BPM. Can we use JDBC lookup to solve this. We are using PI 7.
Please provide valuable inputs.

The answer to both questions is yes. Probably you might be using the lookup api for your requirement. See blog below:

It would also help if your scenario is synchronous (since you are doing inserts) and this would eliminate the retry mechanism in async messages.

I will get data from online transactions I need to collect all the day transaction into one folder and upload them into SAP system at one particular time.
Which are the best adapters for this scenario.
If I have standard IDOC I will go with IDOC adapter at receiver side if not proxy.
But collecting all the data into one folder and schedule the process at particular time.
How to do this and what are the adapter I can use.

I hope for online transactions and for tracking it and saving you can write a java script where you can prepare a XML file to get all transactions for particular order and always append it to the end of that xml file. At end of the day you will have a complete transaction list in the XML you are creating. You can use the file name as you desired but i will prefer datewise name.after the completion of that Transaction recording step, put it in some In folder from where your XI system willo take input.
Now this is file to Idoc scenario or whatever you want to use to post data to SAP Systems. The sechdule this scenario to run in the night or your desired time. After processing the XML file put that file\ to some other complete folder , not to get it again.
For collection of transactions you can also use databases. Then you scenario will be JDBC to IDOC or the thing you want to post data in SAP system.

Iam picking text file from one bank system and placing the file at the client system at work folder.i have not used IR part as no mapping required just to pick the text file and place at the work folder.
one abap program will run with help of background job and pick the file from work folder.
Now client requirement is they want to put the file in work folder and also want to execute the standard program with the help of PI.
How to do it, Please suggest.

Sender side File adapter configuration is as usual

It is a synchronous scenario so you need to create the two message interfacess for the sender (one is for request message and another is for response message). For receiver you don't need to create any message interfaces, because the WSDL internally having the two messages (request and response).

Hi Chinna,
Just to add, you can also call the webservice from UDF using SOAP lookup. This would ease up your scenario. You just need to configure IDOC to proxy scenario, with SOAP lookup in mapping. Have a look at these blogs for more deatils-

Need inputs : PO Smartform in Bulgaria language

Hi Experts,
I need a couple of suggestions and guide lines for PO print out Smart form.
We have requirement for PO, print out should print in Bulgaria language if the PO Vendors is from Bulgaria country.
And if the vendor is other than Bulgaria country then it should print in the English.
We have already a custom smart form (English)which we have assigned it in BADI for the PO Print output BBP_OUTPUT_CHANGE_SF.
Do we have to create 2 different smart forms? One is for Bulgaria vendors and other for non Bulgaria vendors.
And Do need to assign the 2 different smart forms in BADI based up on the vendor country?
If I enter the fixed text (like labels) in Bulgarian language then it will automatically will print in Bulgarian language?
And what I have to do dynamic text (which I will read from the print program input data or data base tables) ? Is there any way for the translation for these dynamic texts?
And I tried to put some labels in Bulgarian language in the smart form, but I am not able to see in those characters in the print preview in the portal. Its showing as some junk characters asu201D#u201D. But I am able to see in Spool (GUI, SP01). Is it because of the Bulgaria Language pack is not there in my system

we have to check whether the material is available or not, and if it is available we have to find out the cost of that material.If the materila is not available we have to get the suppliers to get that material.

Use to this BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_EXISTENCECHECK and provide the material no as the input. you can check whether that material exists or not.
Also if you want to check the details of a particular material you can use BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_ALL (For costing you can find the details in Valuation data) and also BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_DETAIL

Hello CO experts,
Am a SAP Project systems person and regarding one of our requirement mentioned below i request your suggestions/inputs.
We are using transcation CJR2 to plan primary cost against WBS elements for each period/month of the year.
Now in CJR2 we cannot do this planning only on WBS elements, it asks for another CO object like cost element,
cost center or activty type.
Now When I raised this question in the SAP PS forum, the experts there suggested that I could add a dummy cost element with
the WBS element so that i can do my planning also satisfying the transcation code, which asks for a CO object along with WBS.
Now my question here in this forum is ...can i create a dummy cost-element , will it have any cost implication?. If this is possible , can you please experts guide me how i go about this. under which cost elemnt catgry i need to create this primary cost element. Please let me know your inputs.
