Thanks for the advice Svet. Is it true that the mobo is a bit "sensitive" with ram? I have tried 3 pairs (mushkin, corsair, kingston) and it seems that only kingston minimizes the problems.
Very strange since all pairs have passed Memtest86+ without any problem, and they are all DDR2 6400 5-5-5-18 1,8V.
I also changed the Cpu with an Athlon 250, same behavior. All my hardware is tested in fact, as it comes directly from my previous Freenas rig and it worked perfectly with an Asrock 780GM-LE.
It goes without saying that i also test it without any disks, usb connectors, with only one stick of memory, with another PSU etc...

    I have some questions.
My notebook has single HDD 750GB 5400RPM. is 70U BIOS for RAID mode? because i have this RAID option in BIOS i have set to AHCI but windows was not installing
i think latest one is 70X, is it for RAID mode too? should i be using RAID mode with single HDD?
Can i flash .30 BIOS? the ones for windows 7, they warn about brick, is it a certain brick or a risky one? i am having CPU Throttling and since this has become trash, i can try old .30 bios and 4xx EC versions

  • H67MA-E45 Updated to latest BIOS now won't load BIOS?

    Hi,
I ran the latest BIOS update 7678v32, all seemed to go fine and it said BIOS update completed will now restart. Now the LED and fan starts for 1-2 secs then goes off straight away, this repeats every 10secs or so.
I've tried clearing CMOS but still nothing. Any ideas
    Cheers
    Andy

ok it sounds like a bricked board to me. you could try to first do a full CMOS clear to make sure!
how to perform a full CMOS Clear:
1: remove power cord from PSU!
2: hold power Button on case for 30 seconds!
3: remove the CMOS Battery for 5-30mins!
4: now use the Clear Cmos Jumper to clear Data and then put it back in Keep Position
5: put the CMOS Battery Back in!
    6: Reconnect Power
7: Power the PC Back on
if that doesn,t get the board working you have bricked the BIOS chip and it needs to be Re-programed and that will leave you with 2 options:
1: send the board in to MSI for them to Directly Flash the Chip to get it working!
2: Take the Board to a shop that has a SPI Flash Programmer to directly Flash the BIOS chip!

  • How to find the latest BIOS for my T60P?

    Dear Experts,
I own a T60P 2007FBG which I like very much cause it still works like a charm. I'm interested in uploading the latest BIOS but, unfortunately, "my" model type isn't listed on Lenovo's website:
    http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/12b4-c4-3c77.jpg
It would be very appreciated if somebody showed me the way to the latest and correct BIOS for my T60P.
    Many thanks in advance

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    They all work for me.  Entering 2007FBG leads me to the following;
My guess is that you need to clear your selection on the support site before trying the quick path or following my other link.  By the way, the drivers on the linked to page will be relevant to your system, 2007 is the important relevant part in the MTM as far as drivers and BIOS are concerned.

  • Black Screen after flashing the latest BIOS

Nothing but Black screen (fan, leds work) after flashing the latest bios...
Is there anything I can do, or just new bios/motherboard can help? (I tried resting the battery, F8 key..) Thanks in advance

I presume BIOS is screwed up. What you need is professional help with this so contact nearest service provider and ask for help.
By the way: check this forum using advanced search option. In the past I saw several interesting threads about BIOS recovering. Im pretty sceptic about it but maybe you will be lucky and find solution.

  • Satellite A350 - error when installing latest Bios (64bit OS)

I can't figure out what is wrong: I'm trying to install the latest bios, bios-20090803144625 (64bit), on a Statellite 350 running Windows 7 RC. I get the following error from "Phoenig WinPhlash64": "Failed to receive system Bios information BCPSYS block signature was not found. Error code: -100"
I have also tried the 32bit installer without any luck.
I have tried to install in safe mode, but the installer will only run in "normal mode".
    Any suggestions?
    G

I believe you need to install the Value Added Package so the BIOS file can detect the hardware properly.

  • How can I restore the latest BIOS version when it doesn't appear in "Software & Drivers" page ?

When delivered, my brand new Pavilion desktop model 500-282ef was equipped with BIOS version 8014.
On the EFI\HP\Bios partition, only the \Current directory contained another version of the BIOS, an older one, namely version 8013. The  \Previous and \New directories were both empty.
Experimenting with my new BIOS, I've unadvertently downgraded my BIOS version 8014 to version 8013.
Now, as you've probably guessed, I would like to restore the latest version
The EFI partition doesn't contain any installer to restore my BIOS to its former up to date version.
Unfortunately, "the drivers and update" page on HP support site does not provide any installer either.
I would be so grateful if some of the nice people here would ask HP to point me to such (probably unreleased) updater which should obviously exist.
I have saved a copy of my second Pavilion desktop BIOS using safawin.exe in the hope I could use it to achieve a restore. But I've been unable to use it to restore the latest BIOS as the restore process also requires a signature file.
Thank you very much for your help!

Yes Dave, that's what I meant: during the "downgrade" from BIOS version 8013 to version 8014, no BIOS backup files were created and I couldn't found anything in any directory of the EFI partition.
In an attempt to solve the problem, I have put manually a copy of the BIOS (v 8014) from my second Pavilion Desktop (same model, same age) in the "\New" directory. That BIOS file was created with the safuwin.exe utility.
That has been a nice step forward: Now, from the Boot page, the Firmware Management offers me the update option ("You will update from 8013 to 8014, OK?") but when I try to so, I got a error message saying that a signature file should also be present along with the BIOS file to flash.
In the EFI\HP\BiosUpdate directory I do see some signature files like HpBiosUpdate.s14 and HpBiosUpdate32.s14 which could be the signature files I need, but I have no idea about how to use them (or maybe rename them?) to allow the procedure to complete successfully.
Concerning the warranty, do you suggest I should invoke it ? Could you please clarify ? Actually my PC has no other problem than this BIOS "downgrade".
I trust that HP has in store all the files I need, which have probably been used when configuring my PC in the factory. My problem is to have these files available in the "Software & Drivers" page on HP site...
Thank you very much for your help. I stay tuned
    Twain

  • Do I have the latest Bios?

okay, I believe I updated my BIOS.
When I ran the disk, I selected option 1 which *I hope* was the right option. It seemed
successul. I have gone to RUN> and typed in system information and get the following:
    SMBIOS Version: 2.6
is that correct? I have successfully updated my BIOS?
Also, what were the two options when running the BIOS upgrade? I wasn't clear on what all the
terminology meant nad if I was doing the correct procedure or not or do I need to do both?
    thanks
    LENOVO 8BET54WW (1.34), 11/2/2011 - W520 Model 427639U - Windows 7 - 6.1.7601 Service Pace 1 Build 7601 - intel core i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.3ghz, 2310 mhz 4 cores - 16gb Memory

Harrisb is correct, The latest BIOS for the W520 is version 1.40.
Here is the link to see the BIOS updates for the W520, on the bottom of the site there are instructions to determine which version you currently have. You can find all of your Drivers and Updates from the Lenovo W520 Driver Matrix.
There are two ways to update the BIOS:
    1. EXE file - this is what many people do because they can do it inside Windows which is more convenient. But it can also carry a certain amount of risk. If something goes wrong, you could potentially be left with an incomplete update thus bricking the machine and requiring a motherboard replacement under warranty. I recommend doing a system backup before any BIOS update or changes.
    2. .ISO file - an ISO is a CD or DVD image encapsulated on the file. You can burn the file to a CD or DVD with a tool like ImgBurn. After the CD/DVD is created, you can boot the W520 from it and follow the instructions to update the BIOS. This is more of a hassle but considered safer because there is a reduced amount of risk another program might interfere with the update process and leave it incomplete.
If all of this sounds scary, I would recommend finding an IT Professional, Partner or Service professional to do this for you. All Lenovo Products come with a 1 Year Limited Warranty, if you would like to have more in depth troubleshooting or support, do not hesitate to contact your support center. You can verify your warranty status here.
Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,

If your Mobo works without any problem, you don't need any Bios update. That last Bios ver. should be usefull to people that have installed RAID system for HDDs. and they have problems running it.

  • OMG Cannot download latest BIOS HELP

Help! As usually I went to check if new BIOS is avail because I've been yearning one for quite long now, and looking at the beta bios thread quite a lot of stufff fixed and added since BIOS v2.10 so it's about time for v2.11.
MB in question is MSI Z77A-G43.
All the download locations are down, getting error404... How can this be possible??
    http://msi.com/service/download/bios-21813.html
None of the DL locations work..?? What's the point with the mirrors?
Where can I download this official v2.11 bios?

Flashing today isn't risky, as risky as it was 10 years ago. If one knows what one doing, then there is no risk.
I yearned for the update because there was a lot fixes and changes added after v.2.10.
And I'm looking to do some RAM OC, so I need the latest bios.
Plus, v.2.11 has latest ME - that is not in v.2.10.
Thanks Yogi, those links did indeed work now (I wonder did they just forgot to upload the BIOS'es or what, I'v read other board BIOS'es weren't uploaded either, thus offered in ?div=BIOS ???)

  • Long bios load time with gtx970 - maybe need gpu bios update?

I just installed my gtx 970 and it all runs fine.  However I get a very long bios load time on boot up.  Normally it only takes a second or two with a single beep.  With the 970 though I get the single beep and the bios load screen, but it sits at that screen for a long time, then another beep, waiting, eventually another beep, and after some more waiting windows will start to load.
My problem is that now I can also no longer get in to the bios. I have tried even plugging in a ps/2 keyboard to see if maybe that could get me in.  The farthest I get after hitting delete to enter is I just end up at a black screen. My mobo has no onboard gpu output, so its not like its trying to go to a monitor I cant see.
So would any gpu bios updates fix this? I am currently at the latest bios for my board which updated it to a uefi bios.
cpu: i7-2600k (yes Im aware I will only have pcie2)
    mobo: gigabyte z68 d3-b3

Under bios features, is there a option called boot mode select?
Try to switch to "legacy only", save and reboot.
Are you using HDMI connector? Try to use DVI.
    Sorry for my english!
I dont remember seeing any boot mode select.  As far as connections I am using all DVI for my monitors. I have also tried only having a single one connected in case there were issues with multiple monitors

with those old boards, you need ME8 to works with modern cards
    ask gigabyte support about it
Thanks Ill try emailing them.  Is ME8 some other bios? Just never heard of it before
    -edit
After reading up it looks like it was just a revision to allow ivy bridge devices, which happened a long long time ago on a bios update:
Support Intel 3rd generation 22nm E1 stepping CPU (Ivy bridge)
    Improve power on issue
    Update ME / CPU code
Unless theres something else Im missing about ME8
