Need leading zeros to fill the front of a 10 character parameter being passed-HELP!

I have a prompt 10 character parameter that some people forget to insert the zero at the beginning of the number. ex.(they type "594468010", suppose to be "0594468010"). How can I fill in the leading zeros for them after they type in the prompt box? My prompt comes from a command. Here is a sample of the where clause: WHERE DB.ID_NUMBER = '{?I_IDNO}'
I tried to use LPAD('{?I_IDNO}',10,0), it works with plsql, but not when I run the crystal report.
Does anyone have any ideas? thanks for your help in advance!

a) you can always use your database specific cast / convert function to convert the text field into a number for the purpose of record selection. then change the prompt type to numeric. crystal commands are database specific so you'd want to check your database help on what specific syntax to use for the cast / convert in the command.
b) the other choice to leave the command & prompt type alone & use an edit mask on the command prompt...this would then force the end user to enter the leading zeroes as the edit mask would force a certain length on the entry. so in the crystal field explorer edit the prompt and put in an edit mask of 000000000 for example if you wish to force the end user to enter 9 numeric characters.

We have members with data type “TEXT” in planning database. When user enters something with leading zero, it saves the same in relational but not showing the same in planning. It truncates the zero even though it is a text member.
Planning version 11.1.2
Example:
Member name : Issue code (TEXT type)
Entered value : 011_Issue (saves the same in relational)
Display value : 11_Issue (Drops the zero)
is there any workaround?

I've opened a SR and here is the reply from MOS.
Apply a fix for Bug 12422049 - DATA TYPE TEXT MEMBER DOES NOT DISPLAY VALUE STARTING WITH ZERO CORRECTLY when its available.
The issue has been identified as a code bug and development team will fix it in future releases.

Need leading Zeros in the excel sheet which is sent from ABAP

I am downloading data from SAP to excel sheet using the WS_DOWNLOAD Function Module. The numeric data in not having leading zeros. if it is 0010 it is displaying 10 in the excel sheet . i need the leading zeros in the excel sheet. without manulally changing it to Text in the excel sheet .
   Is there any way to do it .

Format strings, need leading zeros

I have a data input where serial data is converted to a numerical value, then multiplied by a conversion factor, and the result then converted back into a string for outputting to a data file.
I have not been able to get small numbers, such as "497" to get converted into a string "0497". Have tried the %04d format string, which gives me an output of 4970000 - not quite what I need.
Am using the FormatIntoString.vi, which has a "format string" input, but values which should work like "%04d" do not give me the leading zeros.

The format string works on the numeric input of the function. The string input is for adding a string prefix to the output and is not a required input. In your example, if you wire the string to a Scan From String function and wire the output of that to the numeric input of the Format Into String, everything will work just fine. I've attached a corrected VI.

MF50 deletes leading Zero's from the material number.

We have a case where we have alpha-numeric material numbers that include some leading zero's. MF50 in it's released format automatically truncates leading zero's. In our case these leading zero's are required only for alpha-numeric material numbers.
Looking on OSS I see multiple notes relating to this issue. Any suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.

I am working with a combination of tables and CSS. In one cell of my table, I am trying to get a background image to fill the space. It is filling only about 1/4th of the space. This is the code I have:

Can anyone tell me what code I can add to enlarge the image to fill the entire space?

You can't enlarge a background image. Background images are static.
Make a bigger image in your graphics app, or repeat your background-image with CSS (see link below for details):

Leading zeros removed in the mailed Excel

HI All,
I have one internal table , whose contents I want to send via mail, as an excel sheet.
I am able to do that, but the below problem appears .The cell content 0123 , is getting converted to 123,
in the excel that has been sent through mail. I mean, the leading 0s are getting truncated. This is happening even if i have used character format. Please suggest the needful for the same.

Downloadhelper extension stopped functioning. I need to uninstall it but the extension website says to contact Firefox for such help. Will reinstalling it delete and re-create or will I end up with a non-functioning old copy and a functioning new one?

I use a year-old Macintosh with OS 10.5.8. I tried to change the video output format of downloadhelper extension from FLV to a format playable by Macs and Windows computers. In trying that, downloadhelper disappeared from the upper margin of the open screen and is no longer accessible. I want to dis-install it and then reinstall it, but there is no procedure at either the downloadhelper website or the FireFox website to do so. I am afraid to reinstall without first removing the extension. How can I remove it? The downloadhelper site specifically says to ask Firefox how to do it and offers no help.

I solved my own problem. Uninstall download helper as follows: Go to Tools|Add-ons. Click on extensions and look for "DownloadHelper in the list. On the bottom you should click on the <Uninstall> button. You'll need to restart Firefox.
Then, go to the downloadhelper extension install website on the Firefox website and reinstall downloadhelper.

Suppressing Leading Zeroes in the Query output

I have selected a data field(0MATERIAL) as a free characteristics, It displays text and key and the key has leading zeroes.
In the infoobject 0MATERIAL, ALPHA conversion routine is not selected, I can't change and insert the ALPHA right now because it would end up with reloading a large volume of data in different targets. To avoid this or to reduce the impact, in the reverse way,
Could it be possible to suppress this leading zeroes at the query level? I was hoping that there would be a change that I could make at the query level, since it is 0Material and am looking at the point of minimal impact.

create InfoObject ZMATERIAL like a copy of 0MATERIAL, delete all the attributes and insert ALPHA conversion.
Insert this ZMATERIAL like display attribute of 0MATERIAL. In InfoSource for 0MATERIAL map also ZMATERIAL with the same field that is feeding 0MATERIAL (MATNL). In your query insert 0MATERIAL and ZMATERIAL, and then hide 0MATERIAL (you need to insert also 0MATERIAL because ZMATERIAL is only in display), you will see only the values of ZMATERIAL, that is the material without the zeros in front.
You can also decide to transform ZMATERIAL like navigational attribute, but in this case you have to change all the structure where do you want ZMATERIAL, because you need to flag it like navigational in that specific structure.

Come on, it's not that hard:
UPDATE your_table
SET yourcolumn = ltrim(yourcolumn, '0')

Leading zeros in the Product allocation characteristic combinations.

Hi All,
I am copying Characteristic combination from planning area to product allocation group, after i complete the transaction system is automatically preceding the zeroes to the product number.
I have one the following activities before copying CVC of planning area to product allocation group.
against all the Product allocation settings.
2.Created the MPOS with product (characteristic length of Product is 18), Customer and Allocation object.
3.Created planning area and planning book.
4.Copied cvc combination from planning are to product allocation group and also copied planning area values in to Product allocation group.
5.Tried to check in the ATP simulation mode, while I was doing system has given no characteristic combination found, when I checked Product is preceding zeros as per the filed MATNR length 40 and this MATNR is selected from the Product allocation field catalog, But when I add zeros to product system is performing Product allocations in simulation mode.
6.Tried triggering gATP Product allocations by creating Order in ECC, here also it has given same error No characteristic combination exists.
When I did initial R&D on this. I found that material number in the product allocation characteristic combination is leading by zeros for ex:- 000000000000000002200325.
Could any one please suggest me what to do on this.

If i have understood your question properly , then my guess is you should be facing this problem only for numeric material codes. Try out the following things
1. Execute the same test condition for a non numeric material. I believe it will work perfectly .
2. For numeric material codes it is not working because of the difference in MATNR length between ECC and APO. In ECC the maximum possible MATNR length is 18 char whereas it is 40 chars in APO. So as per std SAP functionality the numeric materials get concatenated with leading zeros when you try to transfer it (or carry out any kind of processing ) from ECC to APO.
ex consider material 12345. In ECC it will be stored internally as 13 leading zero's followed by12345 . But in APO it will be stored as 35 leading zero's followed by 12345. Your issue is the system does not recognize the CVC that has this material as characteristic. At the time of cvc creation / change make sure your material characteristic ( especially for numeric material codes) totally has 40 chars . Pack it with leading zeros and make the material length 40.
Try this out and update me .
