Need link to SAP recomendations

Hi all.
A little bit strange request. Our client want to use flat file interface to load data from their database instead of using DB_CONNECT. For my opinion using DB_CONNECT is much better in terms of load speed/configuration/possibility to get valid data.
Does anybody know any more reasons for choosing DB_CONNECT? It would be great if someone can share with me a link to SAP recommendations regarding this issue.

If DBConnect is possible (system supports it) than definitely it is advisable as it would avoid one layer of work of downloading content to file, move file to BI app server and than load. A more clean interface.
But many times DB connect is not possible ex: 3rd party systems are not open to use DB Connect, Insufficient license for the DB (you may have some 3rd party application which only provides read license for the DB)..
Sometimes the data in legacy DB's is very critical and clients are skeptical on touching them...,

There is not a direct link. If you are an SAP Partner, you can go to service.sap.com/smb. From this page on the left-hand side under "SAP Business One" click on the "Installations & Updates" link and then choose the version of Business One you want to download. You will need your "S" number to log in to the portal. If you are not an SAP Partner, you will need to get the update from your SAP Business One partner.

How are attribute and text master data tables linked in SAP R/3?

Hello,
how are attribute and text master data tables linked in SAP R/3?
Most tables with attribute master data like T001 for company codes,
have a text master data table T001T (add "T" to table name).
When looking at the content of table T001 via transaction se11,
the text are automatically joined.
But for some tables there is no "T"-table (e.g. table TVBUR for sales offices
has no text table TVBURT), but in se11 you get texts. There is an address
link in TVBUR, but the Name1, etc. are empty.
a) Where are the text stored?
b) How does the system know of the link?

The master and text table are not linked by name, of course, if you see the text table, it has the same key fields of master table, only it has the field key spras and the field for description.
The link beetween the tables is done by foreign key: if you check the text table TVKBT u need to see how the foreign key for field VKBUR is done:
-> Foreing key with table TVBUR
-> Foreing key field type -> KEY FIELD FOR A TEXT TABLE
->Cardinality-> 1-:CN
It's very important the attribute sets for Foreing key field type, if it's KEY FIELD FOR A TEXT TABLE, it'll mean the table is a text table: i.e. that mean the master table is a check table for the text table, where the foreign key type is for text table.
U can find out the text table of master table by SE11: GoTo->Text Table
U can fined some information in table DD08L.

When I said 'pdf/rtf/html/htmlcss', I meant any one of the above.
You need to run the report as:
rwrun60 <report_name> <connection_string> desformat=pdf destype=mail desname=<email_id> batch=yes
In case you want to mail as HTMLCSS, replace PDF in DESFORMAT option in the above command to:
DESFORMAT=HTMLCSS.

Need to integrate SAP MDM 5.5 with BW

Hi,
I am working on SAP MDM for last 4 months.
I don't have any knowledge of BW.
I need to integrate SAP MDM 5.5 with BW.
I have checked with SAP R/3 SAINT transaction
that MDM_TECH 555_700 is installed.
Now, I have created logical connection with MDMAPI transaction.
I have created an file named allow.ip and saved this in
C:\Configuration.
In allow.ip, I wrote the ip address of R/3 System.
I didn't create any deny.ip.
In MDS.ini , I have given location.
TrustFiles Dir=C:\configuration
Now, I have to find the OHD from BW.
I need to see how?
First of all that logical connection is not working.
There is a Connect Function module mdm_accessor_connect .
Here we have to give RFC target system.
Now I created a RFC target system.
I created a type 3 ABAP based RFC target system.
Would it be TCP/IP based system?
Here is the step where my Logical System creation failing.
How to get the OHD Connection object from BW System?

It is possible to transfer data directly from BI to MDM without using XI.I have worked on the same scenario.

This would give you a better understanding. Looking at the config guides after this is suggestive.
You can also download a Business Process Guide for GTS and go through it. Helps you understand the Export and Import process and how GTS enables it. But its not restrictive i.e we can always make changes to cater to specific business needs.
From SD<-> GTS point of view, Sales Orders (SD0A), Outbound Deliveries(SD0B) and Billing(SD0C) all can be mapped based on module specific and Business Process needs. Material Master and Customer master from master data point of view.
Few other noted items include:-
1. Document types
2. Item Categories
3. Partner Functions
and many more.
To start of with GTS has Organization structure wherein Company Codes - FTO and Plant - Legal Units are mapped. Storage location and plant combination can also me mapped.

The most closest patch that you can get is patch level 27, you can find it in SAP PartnerEdge.

Link between SAP Ztables and MS-ACCESS database via XI

Hi All,
I have two application one is in Ms-Access and other is in SAP . I have to link the SAP ztables to the MS-Access databse, is this be done with via XI. If yes, do i need to write the interface programs while fetching the data from the XI to SAP, or XI will take care of the updation and linking between the SAP and access application , since the cross flow of data between two application will be there .

It is possible with XI, of course.
You can use jdbc as sender at the MS-Access end and at R/3 (as reciever) you can have an RFC to put the data into the tables.
There is no need of interface programming to be done manually.
you have to be clear at what condition the synchronizations should happen and there is more enhancements that could be done.

Open transaction when click in the link in sap inbox body text

Requirement :
Have to send mail through program (not workflow) and in the mail body one link should go to the sap inbox. when user click that link it should open the transaction with passing some values to the transaction.
Solution :
Can we use the java script in the mail sending FM body so that we can raise a event when clicking the link in sap inbox.

Sure, you can simply set the parameter id to a blank field. For example.
data: vbeln type vbak-vbeln.
vbeln = space.
set parameter id 'AUN' field vbeln.
