I am in need of the list of companies in India who use Oracle on Linux, if any one has such an list then please do send it to me at [email protected]
I am exploring the companies names ,so that I can apply for the post of 'Oracle DBA' on LINUX platform,thus if i could obtain such a list then my job hunt will become much easier.

Using oracle from linux

Hi I am new to linux.
Do you know any web-site that explains step by step using oracle on linux.
For instance in windows, when I type sqlplus to command prompt, sql screen appears.
But in linux whan I open terminal and type sqlplus nothing happens!

Hi Ricardinho, that might be because you did not set up enviroment variables, but it can be for other reasons. Not sure what distro you re on but at the following links you may want to check some tutorials for configuring and installing Oracle on several distros like Centos, Ubuntu, Fedora and others:

Need help in creating a sample application using Oracle I\PM 10gR3.

I am a new to Oracle I\PM 10gR3 and I need a guide to create a sample

Abnormal errors after bounce in 12.1.3 using Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.1

1. After bounce of one of our dev instance and opening forms did'nt see menu for system administrator (like 1. OAM 2. Coucurrent 3. Profile .........)
and getting error left hand below --- ###FRM - 40735: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE triger raised unhandeled exceeption ORA- 06502###
But as soon as after clicking SWITCH RESPONSIBILITY we are able to see the menu options
2. In the same terminal if we are submitting any request (e.g active users) getting message like "##FRM 40400: Transaction complete : 1 records applied and saved##')
But when we click on find tab we are getting below error
##FRM-40350: Query caused no records to be retrieved###
Please help in this.

Can you query FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS table and view the record for this concurrent request?

Advanced Replication using Oracle 8i and Linux

My name is Sadhana. I am a software engineer. I have a doubt regarding Oracle and Linux. Well, I am involved in developing a customer care and billing solution with back end as Oracle8i (8.1.5)on Linux RH 6.1. I need your guidance is regarding the reliability of using Oracle on Linux as data file servers for critical applications like customer care and billing systems in telecom. The rating and billing engine will also run on linux servers. Only the client machined will have windows 98/NT. It will be helpful if you can throw some light on the replication features of Oracle particularly in Linux. For e.g. is it possible to keep a database server - Oracle on linux and a replication server on linux. Will it behave similarly like other replication servers (windows NT or Solaris etc.)? Is it reliable?

Integrating Oracle Utilities using Oracle SOA

Hi,
I need help on how to proceed to integrate Oracle utilities using Oracle SOA
Our project has around 13 modules like New connection, Disconnection, Dismantle, Billing , Global Information System
Each modiule will interact with different other modules to get few services.
For Example: 1)New Connection module should interact with Billing to generate the invoice in one scenarion
and with Global Information System to identify the location in other scenario
2) Same way Disconnection need to interact with other modules to get some information from other modules.
3) All modules may need a SMS/ Email facility to send to the customers.
I need to integrate this kind of application using Oracle SOA
Please help me on how I should proceed further.
Do i need to create a seperate BPEL process for each request of individual module and give them the endpoint of my WSDL to interact with other modules ?
Can I have a single entry point and then navigate from there ? If so, the input params may vary, how this should be handled ?
Please help me on developing this kind of project. Any sample applications are also helpful ...

We need to develop a multilingual data warehouse using Oracle. All the text data can be in Arabic and English. I know that unicode is to be used and that I have a choice between unicode database and unicode datatypes but need more information beyond that since all dimension values which are added dynamically could be in either language. The end users might want to toggle between either language. What are the options I have?

Do you really need Unicode ..because some of the Arabic character sets already contain the 7 bit ASCII characters .
For example such as the Oracle character set AR8MSWIN1256 . definition here .

Dude company data is its real asset no body will allow you to make their valueable asset as testing Lab material. just get training from good professional take exam and do a lot of practices. This will make you a little champ in 2-3 years. Expert not before 7 years. So you should be consistent and patient in learning and earning.

How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive. Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure. You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume. Click on the Restart button. You should boot from the new drive. Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.
