  • I need to install Internet Explorer 6 or greater on my iMac to work with a program.  How is the best way to do that?

I need to install Internet Explorer 6 or greater on my iMac (intel processor) running MacOS 10.6.8 to work with a program.  How is the best way to accomplish this?

There is no way.  IE has not been available for the Mac for years now.
Your only option is to install native Windows and use that - either through a bootcamp dual-boot scenario, or use a virtual machine to run windows in (eg. Parallels or VMWare Fusion).  Either way, you will need a full retail install disk for Windows.
P.S. the last version of IE for Mac was for PPC machines, and it was discontinued in 2003.

Hello, I just downloaded ios 8 for my 4s iphone and now it will not connect to itunes on my mac. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello wedge60,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning device recognition issues:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
If you haven't connected your iOS device to this computer before, unlock the device and tap Trust. Learn more about the Trust This Computer alert.
    Restart your iOS device.
    Restart your Mac.
Make sure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
Check USB connections. iOS devices need USB 2.0 to work properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, check the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Try another USB cable.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • I bought the wrong version of Photoshop elements. I bought Windows, I need Mac.

I purchased a download version of Windows Elements. I need MAC. How do I switch it?

Have you got the serial number? That can be used on both Mac and Windows versions.
All you need to do is download the Mac trial version from the Adobe website, install it and enter your serial number.

  • I have os 10.4.11, my iphone needs iTunes 10.1, which needs MAC os 105, what to do?

I have PowerBook Pro os 10.4.11,
my iphone needs iTunes 10.1, which needs MAC os 105,
    what to do?

You need to purchase Mac OS X 10.5. All PowerBook G4s and MacBook Pros can run Mac OS X 10.5; additional steps are needed on G4s with CPUs below 867MHz.

  • How do I update from MAC OS X 10.6.8 to a later version? The software I'm trying to run indicated I needed MAC OS X 10.7 or later.

How do I update from MAC OS X 10.6.8 to a later version? The software I'm trying to run indicated I needed MAC OS X 10.7 or later.

Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • I bought a new ipod today and i can not get it to connect to my mac oe my itune account it say s i need ituned 10.4 so i tried to download it, it then says i need mac osx10.5 so i tried to down load it but it says something else do i need to return it?

I bought a new ipod touch today. I tried to install it and it says i need itunes 10.4 so i tried to download that, it said i needed mac os x 10.5 so i tried to down load that it gave me another message. how do i get my new ipod  onto my mac? Or do i need to return the ipod?

New iPod Touch devices require a minimum of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 in addition to a fairly recent version of iTunes. If you are running Tiger (10.4) or earlier, you can't just update to Leopard for free; you have to buy it.

i need Mac driver for TP-Link Wireless USB adapter model no TL-WN7200ND

First of all, TP-Link does not provide OS X drivers for that adapter. However, there are other sources that have drivers like this one. It is not official and it may fail, but it has been tested by other users and it works correctly.

  • HT3258 to the new iphone 5.  I had the message I need to download itunes 10.7 which I did.  I now have a message saying I need Mac OS X

I am trying to sync a new iPhone 5.  I updated iTunes as requested and now a message stating I need Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later.  I can't seem to download that.  Any ideas what I need to do?

If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.6.7, you should be able to update to 10.6.8 through Software Update.
If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier, you need to buy the upgrade to 10.6 and update it to 10.6.8. Apple still sells 10.6, but only if you call them on the phone, and you can only buy it on a disc. Also, you need to make sure your Mac is new enough to run 10.6.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • I don't need Mac os9

I do not need Mac OS9 Classic so can I just erase everything and start fresh with Mac OS 10.3.9? I have the installation discs for that program and that is what system is running now.

You can just drag the OS 9 system files in a folder called "System Folder" to the Trash & after you empty the trash, it will be gone. You don't have to erase the HD and reinstall 10.3.x. OS 9 doesn take much space on your HD, so may users just leave it even though they rarely/never use it.
You can do the same (drag to Trash) with any OS 9 applications you have installed.

  • I'm trying to run a program that says I need mac osx /c firefox +2 - what is +2

I need to take an online course and pass a test... the course states I need Mac OSX with firefox +2, I don't know what +2 is, I don't think I have it because the course is telling me my system is not compatible. how can I make my system work? If it helps, the course is AHA online PALS course for health care providers.

You should always use the latest Firefox release to get the latest bug and security patches.
You can find the full version of the latest Firefox 26.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
If the current Firefox release isn't working then you need to contact the website and ask them which Firefox versions they support.
If you can post a link to a public page that doesn't require authentication (login) that generates this error message then we can have a look at it.

Yesterday after years of working, my site told me I need to install adobe 11.1 or greater.  I have adobe 11.8, which is working, Active X is not on, popups are disabled, still says I need to install adobe 11.1 or greater

Figured it out. I tried using Safari rather than Firefox and it worked fine. No need to download anything.
