NEED MAJOR ADVISE

My computer has been running slow, about a year and half ago i brought my computer to the apple store to save my files because something happened to my computer. I didn't want to lose anything. I didn't think anything of it until recently i started looking through my finder under computer, and i am finding LITERALLY 10,000 or more just things, lists of stuff. I don't know what half of it is under one heading over 13,000 items!!!! I want to get rid of fit but which is good and which is bad!! And is this normal to that much stuff. I knew they doubled up all my photos somehow but i have never seen this before!
Please give advise I am at a loss

Hi, skarriette. A standard OS X installation includes many tens of thousands, perhaps well over a hundred thousand, different files. Many are invisible, and many others are kept in places where the average user never has much reason to look. They are all there for good reasons, and you will sabotage your operating system, and thus the usefulness of your computer, if you start deleting them without knowing exactly what you're doing. If you are like 99% of all computer users, you will never understand the functions of more than a handful of those files and you should leave them alone.
The above advice pertains to all files in the folders called "System" and "Library" at the topmost level of your hard drive, as well as to nearly all files in the Library folder that can be found inside each user's Home folder. Unless you're specifically advised by someone knowledgeable to delete a specific file or files from those folders or any of the folders inside them, don't.
