Need major quicktime help

I just purchased my mac book... It says I have "Quick Time Player 10" installed. I tried to install Quick Time 7 but it won't let me. I just purchased the Quick Time Pro upgrade because I need it to convert my WMV videos. There is no play to put in my registration code. I need help! I don't know what I'm doing wrong. In the end I need Quick time pro (which I just purchased). P.S. When I launch my quick time player no window appears... I don't know if that matter or not.

Ok... So I installed quicktime 7 off of the disk that came with my mac. I already purchased quicktime pro and received a confirmation email and I'm trying to register it so I can start using it. I go to the quicktime pro registration and put in my name and my registration code... There is a button that says purchase quicktime pro (which I already did). There is no other options to select. How do I register it so I can download quicktime pro? Thanks for all of your help! I'm getting kind of frustrated because I feel like I'm not going to be able to get it onto my mac even though I already purchased it. Thanks again.

I NEED MAJOR QUICKTIME HELP.

So here's what happened.
I needed to go to a movie and my mom needed to record her concert (which was about 2 hours long). I open up quicktime and click on 'new movie recording' then leave it there, close the computer, and tell her: press the red button once to record, then press it again to stop.
After the movie, we come home, I check the computer, only to find out that it only recorded 2 SECONDS, when it should've recorded the WHOLE 2 HOURS. I told my mom to hit the button once to record it, then once again to stop it, then to just close the computer and not to touch anything. Why did this happen, and is there any way to get the 2 hours back? They should've just loaded after the recording was stopped, shouldn't they have? Why did Quicktime do this? Does it not record movies more than 1 hour? HELP.
This was her concert, and we're both upset that the recording was lost and that quicktime was acting like a piece of ****.

Need MAJOR itunes help

Ok...Never before had issues with itunes until the latest updates that go back to this past fall...I really have no idea how to use this program like I once did.
here is what I need help with:
1) Bought an album on my iphone...cannot seem to find where to download it on any of my three macs (MBP, MM, imac). In itunes on my MM it seems to exist in the cloud only, but there is an exclamation point to the left of each song. I cannot find this album on any of my other two macs and cannot find an option to download it to these anywhere.
2) My music library is located on an external RAID drive. In itunes preferences I always set this as the location of my itunes folder, but for some reasons it always defaults back to the itunes folder that is on the local HD. WHy does it keep changing back?
3) Somehow I ended up with three different libaries. There is a libaray with a little house icon with a musical note on it, than the RAID library, than some other library with chinese characters on it...I have no idea where this latter one came from...

Just run the iPod updater. One of the choices is to restore it back to factory defaults. That should wipe the drive. Then you can run the updater again and install the latest version of software for your particular iPod.
I had the same problem once before, and that took care of it, lickity split!

I need MAJOR ipod help!!!

I just got a new iPod that's 120 GB because I was running low on disk space on my computer. So I added my entire music library which is about 8,000 songs, 50 videos, Photos and some IMPORTANT files to its drive. The iPod was working fine so I deleted all that music from my PC. Then suddenly yesterday the iPod froze so I tried to reboot it by holding center + menu. Now when I try to turn it on it asks me to connect it to the computer/iTunes. iTunes says I gotta restore it hence losing ALL my music, video and files I have stored there.
Obviously I can't restore it or there goes all my music and videos. PLUS important files that I desperately need for work....
I can't go into the iPod's hard drive because it says I gotta restore it when i try, so how do I get it to unlock it self from restore mode?!?!?!
please help, I'm gonna go crazy because I can't lose these files that I stored in there. Not to mention I deleted all the music files from my computer, so basically I loose all my music because I always give away my Cd's. Please there's gotta be a way to reboot it without restoring the iPod and losing all the files.

Bad move... You could so easily have your iPod lost, stolen, damaged or, as it is now, in need of restore. Thankfully there's reasonable scope for optimism in this last case.

Many of the recovery tools rely on the iPod having a valid library, which if it's in restore mode is unlikely. The manual method referred to in Zevoneer's post should work regardless.
Depending on just how you put the pictures on the iPod you may be out of luck if you've deleted the orginals. Unless you included the option for "full resolution" images it will just have a libray of thumbnails. Some tools may recover these but the detail will be lost. If the originals have been put on the iPod iTunes will have assigned them names based on their dates rather than their original titles so you'll have to reconstruct these by hand.

I am trying to sort by year of birth and I enter it in as 1978, 1965, and 1947. It still fails to compile for me, giving 5 exceptions. I get a compile-time exception for every time you try to use "peopleArray" as an element of the array (line #'s 48, 51, 52, 68, and 81). They look like this:

Need a little help.... not major....but am unsure I have the 2.4 GHz Wireless-G Broadband Router Model WRT54G version 2 I had bought some time ago (over year and a half) and never really had it hooked up since I have been moving from place to place. Now that I'm retired and staying in one place I'm ready to set up. I find myself having "several" power adaptors and not sure which is the correct one. Can anyone tell me if all the broadband routers had the Linksys name and/or logo on them? None of the adapters I have do. I want to use a proper adapter so as not to damage....are there any specs that would be helpful so that one of these adapters would work? Also I'm running WindowsXP Sorry to bother you folks with a dumb question as I'm sure there are others with far more important questions and concerns. Although I can't tell other than the end going into the unit fits, I do have one Class 2 Transformer which might be the one it's about 1 1/2 inches thick, about 2 inches tall with following written information: Model 49-12-1000D CUI Inc Input AC 120V 60Hz 20W Output DC12V 1000mA Appreciate any help you can give.....I believe my unit is an older one based on version so there may have been a "fatter" adapter then than now.

I have heard that what I need is an older Quicktime Version that allows for saving files, etc. But apple does not support it & I should look elsewhere - hence my appeal on this forum. In need of immediate help with FCP new user taking over colleagues position

Good Morning. I am in urgent need of some help with a specific final cut pro question. My coworker and I have been working on a video project for our employer, a university. He ran the editor (FCP) and I ran the logistics of setting things up, keeping the contacts and scheduling, etc.
He has left until late August and there are two major typos in his work which is posted to the web at the moment. I need to correct these typos and have less than a faint idea of how to do it.
First of all, what is the file's last three letters? (.doc, .mov, etc...)
Second, can I edit this as easily as I think I can? Just click in the text file along the bottom timeline and edit that way?
How do I export the movie as an mp4 file after i have edited it.
Anything else that would be deemed helpful is always appreciated!

You need to locate the Project file. Which will be somewhere in your colleague's User space.
In the Finder, press command and F to activate the Find function.
Make sure the following parameters are set:
Search *This Mac* and Contents
Kind is Documents
Type the project name.
The icon looks like this:
Double click it to launch Final Cut Pro with the project.
To locate the text overlay, click on the Timeline to make it active. Use the down arrow on your keyboard to jump from one cut to the next. The text overlay will look similar to this:
Double click on the Text clip. This will place it in the Viewer (the left "monitor").
Click the "Controls" tab above the Viewer and make your changes. Press Return.
Clicking anywhere in the Timeline once more will update it.
Make sure that no clips are selected and the Timeline is the active window.
Go to the menu bar: File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion.
In the window that opens, make sure that Format is set to QuickTime Movie.
Click the Options button. Look at the top of the next window.
Does it say Compression Setting: H264? If it does, great.
If not, click the settings button and choose H264 from the *Compression Type* button.
At bottom left, drag the Quality slider to Best. Click OK.
This brings you back to the previous window.
Click on Size if you need to change something -there are a number of presets, but you can choose a custom size if you wish. Click OK.
That window is dismissed and returns you to the Save dialog.
Type a name and choose a destination for your file.

I’ve posted in the Premiere forums too, because I’m not sure where my issue is in converting .MOD files, the export of edited footage from Preimere Pro CS4 or if it’s in Encore.
The quality just does not seem that good, I know it’s not HD quality, but it should be better than what I have. Seems over pixilated especially around objects.
Here’s my steps
Convert .MOD files using Mpeg Streamclip to a .DV file format
Settings Compression DV (DV25)
Standard NTSC 720 x 480 29.97 fps
Aspect 16:0
Everything else is default
Import to Premiere Pro CS5
Edit footage
Export to quicktime .mov file
NTSC DV Widescreen
720 x 480 quality 100%
codec is DV25 NTSC
Import .mov files to Encore CS5
Build menus and playlists
Export with default settings approximately 1hr 45min of edited video

I posted a screen shot of the mov export settings I was using. I’m going to try Ann’s conversion method on the mod files to see if that improves things.
You asked about the Encore transcoding, what do you mean by that, are there other settings in Encore that I need to set?
I have an 1hour 45 min of video in my Encore project, burning to a 4.7 DVD. Encore says it’s using 3.3bg, which seems low.

In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.

Need a little help I'm new to Mac.. i have had my ibook for over a year now and i like it a lot, but some times my usb post dies on my for a couple days maybe weeks. Ill have my ipod connected and when i go to plug in a flash drive. It doesn't detect my ipod anymore and my usb port don't work. it says that they were "removed improperly" and now they are not working again..i have tried to reinstall the whole os again and that doesn't work i don't have the hardware test disk so i don't know what could be the problem i know its not the logic board is there any test i can do to it to find out the problem its an ibook late 2001... there is no reset button on it. i tried to hold in the space bar and now when i boot up i get prompt to this screen that shows the world and then a folder with a ? mark but then after a few sec it boots right up im a mess need some help

You have to go to the iPod's icon on your computer (or the flash drive's icon), select it and eject it there before removing it. Otherwise, data can be corrupted and/or lost. Repeatedly removing it without ejecting it from the desktop can cause it not to be recognized any longer.
If your iBook is a "late 2001" model. It should have a reset button. Check out the chart here to make sure which model iBook you have:

It's trying to find a network volume from which to boot.
Once it's booted up, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk, and select your Mac OS X startup volume. Then close System Preferences. The next time you start up, it should start up without looking for a network volume.

It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop - Need Data Recovery Help
HP Pavilion DV 6108 NR, RG365UA, purchased in late 2006 at Best Buy, with Windows XP, upgraded to Service Pack 3. It has a Fujitsu hard disk, 60 gigabyte, partitioned into C: and a Recovery D:.
Windows tries to boot up, but goes to blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for one second, then just keeps recycling until I force a shutdown.
BIOS Phoenix, hard drive test result: " #1-08 Fail "
I ran a disk analysis/recovery program on the Cdrive and it seemed to show the directory structure intact, and it was able to recover some files. I was using the free one from Seagate (which only recovers small files). The second pass didn't run so well, and during the third run the program said I should not proceed further, and I should contact a professional disk recovery company.
However, the D drive seems to be intact, so, I wonder if the disk is corrupted or just some aspect of the logical C drive is bad.
How can I get the D: to run the recovery software on it? The recovery disks, made by Best Buy, only proceed to the R / F / Q option screen, and when I press R, I get a blue screen every time.
Tapping the F10 key during startup gets me nowhere. Ditto the F11 key.
I dont care about the hard disk; it is the data (files, docs, images, etc) that I want.
I contacted HP to order recovery disks but they are no longer available for my computer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

But I wonder how useful it would be. Early XP , no doubt. And if my hard disk problem is a mechanical fault, would any recovery disk even work? The disks made by Best Buy when I bought mine new in 2006 don't do anything more than go to the R /F/ Q screen and then goes to a blue screen when I press R (to recover the OS and apps and data files). And, as I wrote, it is the data that I want, not the disk drive.

I've just taken over a new job and have been the task of finishing the new brochure for Christmas, there's not a lot to do but a lot of the measurements need changing
This is the layout I'm dealing with..
All the boxes have been made in Illustrator
The text has been done in In'Design and it seems every piece of text is it's own box if that makes sense
My question is, if I select the whole specification box - copy, paste it into Adobe Illustrator and change the text there, then paste the edited box back into In-Design, will I lose quality when it gets printed?
I'm worried if I do it this way it may come out blurred? Or am I just worrying about nothing?

I couldn't find an Illy file in the end and have ended up creating tables in ID to replicate what was already there!
Didn't take very long and I guess if I didn't do it now, I'd come across the same situation next time!

There certainly are viable "quick fix" solutions proposed here, and if the dealine is looming and this file never needs to be touched again I might be tempted, but they are only postponing the pain for a file that needs periodic updates, and I wouldn't waste effort on them, myself, when that time can be put toward a proper rebuild now if that's the ultimate goal.
