Need manual Slide advancement in Presenter&

sorry I am new to Presenter. I am using it with PPT 2007
How do I eliminate the auto timeline for each slide. The
default seems to be 5 seconds. I need user to be in control and
advance the slides manually as they wish.
This will also allow animated objects to appear as planned.(
I hope)
How do I change to Manual Mode for slide advancement? Will my
custom animations be timed as planned?

On the Presenter tab, click "Slide Manager." On slides you
want the user to advance, change "Advance by User" to "Yes." Does
this do what you want?

If you import the PPT deck into Captivate it will not bring the audio from Presenter. But you can import it into Captivate after the slide deck has been imported. The audio files aren't necessarily named in a logical fashion in the source files for the presentation, so I would recommend that you publish the presentation locally and then find the 'data' folder in the published output and the audio files will be named in a way that you can infer the slide they are associated with. Not the simplest proceedure but it should be pretty painless.

How to hide slides for a presentation?

I am going to give a presentation that needs to have some slides hidden but at the same time available if i wish to use them. The idea is to have an omitted slide with the possibility of using it while i am doing the presentation. In power point you han use hidden slides by pressing "H" while the presentation is running. Anyone knows how can i do this in keynote? Thank you very much

The following is from the Keynote Help manual:
To skip one or more slides:
Select the slide(s) in the slide navigator or light table view, and then choose Slide > Skip Slide.
Control-click the slide and choose Skip Slide.
To make a skipped slide visible in a slideshow, select it and then choose Slide > Don’t Skip Slide (or Control-click the slide and choose Don’t Skip Slide).
This presumes that you are working in the editing (preview) mode. Thus, you need to decide before your presentation whether or not you wish to be able to show a "skipped" slide. I do not think you can "unskip" a slide while in the presentation mode. Maybe someone else knows ??

How do I record manual slide changes timed to music?

I'm trying Keynote for the first time. I've looked in the help and User Guide, but I haven't found what I'm looking for.
What I want to do is create a self-playing presentation that I'm going to export to iDVD. I want to manually sync slide changes to music, and record those changes.
What I'm trying to create is an accompaniment track DVD that I can use for worship when I sing at churches. So I need the slides to change at specific times, not just after a certain number of seconds.
I apologize if this is in the manual, and I've just not found it. Can anyone help me?
Keynote 3.01 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

One of the drawbacks I found with Keynote is that you can only set timing accurate to 0.5 seconds. For music (and professional voice-over tracks), that really doesn't work very well. This is one of the features that hasn't quite caught up with PowerPoint. Considering that Keynote plays so well with iMovie, iDVD and Garage Band, it would be ideal if they could give us 1/30th second timing so it would track with (SMPTE) time code. If you're going for a real TV-look to a presentation (which Keynote does so much better than PowerPoint), it would be nice to have it in the same time-frame, so to speak.

Simple. If you want to be able to click anywhere on the
screen and go forward then:
Just make a large transparent movie clip called eg button_mc
to cover the entire stage.
Then add some actionscript to the main timelime which will
make the movie go to the next frem. eg
button_mc.onRelease = function(){

"choppy" slide transition during presentation

Whenever the slides in my presentation contain charts or graphs, the transition to that slide becomes "choppy" and slow. I press the spacebar to go to the next slide and it lags for about 10 seconds before going to that slide with graphs. Other times, when I use more dramatic transitions, it simply becomes "choppy". Why does it hang during presentation, and how can i fix it?

Ok, try copying passing the chart through preview to change it from something that needs to be calculated on the fly to something that is JUST a chart. (First, be sure to save off your original presentation so that if you need to change some values, you can do that easily).
With this backup presentation, select the chart, Copy, Open Preview, Do Command-N, Copy, then paste back into Keynote over the other chart. Delete the original chart and then try the presentation like that. If it works better, then just keep that as a separate "presenting" document, making updates as needed from your original.

Moving one slide to another presentation

Welcome to the forums, TBash!
To drag and drop, you need to be able to see the thumbnails for both presentations (using either the Navigator or Light Table views). You drag a thumbnail (or set of thumbnails) from one presentation to the thumbnail area of another.
If this isn't working, could you provide some more details as to the behaviour you are seeing?

Needs Manual Verification by User for 508 Compliant Docs

Can anyone tell me how to fix that?
I'm making a document 508 compliant using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and everything runs smoohtly, except it won't become compliant, because of this message in the summery report.

When you have the Accessibility Full Check dialog open & have selected the Section 508 checking option you'll observe the (a) through (p).
These correspond the paragraphs in 1194.22 (which, in turn, have a correlation to WCAG 1.0).
What needs manual verification will depend on which paragraph the comment is associated with.

In all cases (c) will have "Needs manual verification by user".
For (c), the requirement is that all information conveyed with color is also available without color.
Only a "warm body" can do this; hence, "Needs manual verification...".

An additional observation — A "pass" from Full Checker (using both "Adobe PDF" & "Section 508..." does not mean you've an Accessible PDF (S508 compliant &/or usable). One example would be the Scope of table header cells (Row | Column | Both | None) and Table Summary. Neither are evaluated.
You'll have to provide the appropriate value for Scope and provide the text for the Table Summary.
After using Full Checker you will need to "walk" the structure tree in the Tags panel (with the Highlight option selected) to look for possible issues.
Are any lists present properly tagged?
Are Headings properly used?
Do the various chunks of content have the correct PDF Tag?
Tags inappropriately used can really goober the PDF.
As always, proper mastering in the authoring file results in minimizing remediation activity with Acrobat Pro in the requisite post-processing.

Control slide advance via video cue points

Hi Folks I would like to have a video clip control the advance of an external slideshow by using cue points set in the video. Idealy I would have 2 swfs (video.swf and slides.swf) embeded in a web page side by side and as the video reaches a certain cuepoints it advances the slides in the slideshow swf. It would also be good to fullscreen either one or the other as required.
Any help appreciated.

The videos do not need to be live streamed and can be prepared with keyframes at the key positions for slide advance
So is it keyframes or cuepoints? I didn`t say sth. of Livestream either.
Streaming means simply the process where a video can already start even if its not already completely loaded. This is consideres not only good but standard practice nowadays.
Embedding videos on the timeline is a bad idea. Using Keyframes in this case is an even worse idea.

Problem with slide advancing after video.

I'll start by mentioning I'm a Captivate rookie and am just learning. I'm currently using Captivate 5.
I'm using video within captivate and would like to give the user playback control of the video(s) itself. Initally I was using "Slide Video" as the playback bars were not a concern and the request came at the last minute. I believe I need to switch to inserting "FLV or F4V" to gain this control but here is my issue.
When I publish I can control the video just fine, but lets say the video is 5 minutes and I skip 3 minutes in the middle (so I only see 2 minutes of the 5), I still have to wait when the video ends for the remaining time to countdown before the slide advances to the next. How do I get the slide to advance as soon as the video is done, regardless of it's duration?
I'm sure it's easy but it's drivin' me bonkers!!

If you take a look at the properties panel, more specifically, the Timing area, there is an option you might wish to try enabling.

You might try to enable this setting and see if it helps. However, I hold the opinion that a bug exists with Captivate and this feature. In my classroom training I've noticed the option doesn't seem to allow the slide to progress. In other words, don't be surprised if it doesn't work for you. And if it doesn't, please Please PLEASE consider filing a bug report so the issue gains priority on the Adobe side for a fix. (Link to the bug reporting form is in my sig)

Slide advance

Hello, I have inserted a PREVIOUS and NEXT button on my training slides. I need the user to click these buttons to advance to the next slide; however, i noticed that they can also just click anywhere on the page to advance to the next slide. The problem is that on some of the slides, i use roll over captions on the interface to describe parts of the interface, if the user clicks the page instead of the roll over captions, the slide advances to the next slide before they get a chance to review all of the roll over captions. Is there anyway to disable the ability to click anywhere on the page and just use the PREVIOUS or NEXT buttons?
Just to review: My question is --- is there a way to disable the ability to click anywhere on a slide/page to advance to the next slide?

I have received your project and looked it over. Unfortunately the behavior does not happen on my own PC when I preview in Browser.
The project you sent contains 4 slides. The first three simply have a Continue button on them. They pause and I am able to click anywhere on the slide without the slide advancing.
Are you possibly looking at a different project?

I don't use an AirClick, but a quick check over at Griffin Technologies indicates one must be using PowerPoint 2004 to control presentations with the AirClick and AirClick USB products.
If you're using PowerPoint 2004, then I suggest you take up the matter with Griffin Technology's Support. They also appear to have published some updated software for AirClick.
Another place you may want to search or post is the the PowerPoint group you can find on the Microsoft Mac Support - Newsgroups page. These are Google Groups with active participation from MS PowerPoint users, including a variety of expert users.
I don't mean to send you somewhere else, but I've found numerous answers there for folks with questions related to MS products. Accordingly, it has often proved to be the first, best place to look for answers to questions such as you are asking.

Cisco switches 3560 need manual reboot after power outages

Hi everyone,
In africa we have lot of power outages.
Working at a very big company with more than 300 switches can be challenging if you have to bring them up by manually rebooting few of them on the property.
The switches are directly connect via fiber using LH/LX SFP connector to a 4500 Core switch which is on a UPS and does not go down during the outage; only the access layer switches will then need manual reboot....
Please assist in having a permanent fix on this issue.
