Need more feature phone choices

I have an LG Dare touch screen phone and have been happy with it for the last 2+ years I've had it. However, it's always nice to be able to upgrade to a newer phone. As much as I would like to have a smart phone, I don't want to spend the extra money on a data plan. The only 'feature phones' that I would be interested in from Verizon would be the Pantech Crux or the LG Octane and the Octane is not a touch phone. The Kin phones don't interest me at all. For kicks, I checked the AT&T phones to see what they have to offer and have several nice looking 'quick messaging' phones that are touch screen and don't require a data plan. Why can't Verizon offer phones like this? Been waiting for months to see if Verizon would offer anything new, but alas they have not. However, they are constantly rolling out new smart phones. Verizon needs to offer more choices to their customers who want a nice feature phone and not require a data plan. Someone like me.

jrod33,
Hi!  Our device lineup is always changing. The phones that AT&T feature carry many of the same features as our "Feature Phones".  Please sign up for email alerts about our new device releases!
Thank You!

  • Any decent feature phones coming?

I'm probably going to be adding 2 more 'feature' phone lines before the end of September.  Last month I added one for my daughter, a Pantech Crux.  ( We went back the Verizon store the day after she got the phone, and it was no longer on display - it had been discontinued! )
She hates the phone; I tried it for a day, and I agree.  Its interface is slow and klunky, and overall it's a pain to use.
Looking at the Verizon store, there isn't anything that looks much better.  Is there any hope for better 'feature' phones coming soon?

Thank you lewisr13 for your response. You are correct in advising SeaJohn that we offer the 14 day worry free guarantee where they can exchange or return a phone. Please also keep in mind that a $35.00 restocking fee does apply when returning or exchanging a device within the 14 day worry free guarantee period.

  • To Do List Archiving with Reminders and more Features.

I wish To Do List was a seperate program with archiving and categories with autoreplies and follow-up reminders. Needs more features.
It would also be good to work as a project management system. Great for work or around the house duties.
Does anyone know of any good software like this for mac?

This is probably a better search there:

  • VZ's Offerings for the Feature Phones

A big F-A-I-L for the TERRIBLE offerings VZ now offers to their existing customers. We'll see if they've changed by the time I get my upgrade- if not I may walk away from VZ.
I don't like the strong arm tactics to try and get me to get a data plan I don't need or want.
Who else is annoyed at this????

Unforunately, Verizon Wireless has determined that if you do not want to pay for a data plan, the Feature phones are 100% adequate for your needs and will clearly provide you with all off the features you desire and deserve as a valued "non-data" Verizon Wireless customer.
If you don't want to pay for data, you need a Feature phone.  Any other phone will be "wasted" on your "simple" phone usage patterns.  So, pay for a data plan, or admit that Verizon knows the best ways to meet your limited needs.
    Enjoy your Feature phone!

  • Does anyone know of a simple home accounting application? iBank does not seem to be that user friendly and has more features than I need. I would like something that will connect to my bank and will allow the creation of a budget that is simple.

I am looking for a very simple home accounting application. iBank seems to not be very intuitive and it has more features than I need. I am looking for the ability to create a budget and keep a bank register with the ability to connect to my bank and do updates.

I have a small business, I chose Quickbooks because anything else cost much more. That triggered the hiring of a bookkeeper who knew how to use it. It was not the cheapest choice after all.

  • My dad bought an iPhone 4S, and I have the exact same model. Neither of us have the iOS6 update. His phone has 4G, mine doesn't. He also has more features than I. Why is that?

Both of you should update to iOS 6 and then you will be
the same if you have the same  model iPhone.

  • I have an 8gb iPhone 4 and i need more space, is there a way to get more space rather then buying a whole new phone?

No. Sell the 8gb and buy one with more capacity.

  • My phone needs more space. I have lots of pictures on it and on my iPad. I recently purchased a MacBook and now my pics are on there. If I delete my camera roll from my phone, might I lose them?

I Need more space But if I delete my pics from my phone, how do I know that they won't reappear after the backup, or, much worse, be deleted from my MacBook and iPad after the Cloud backup?

    1. Connect the phone to iTunes and do a backup (better safe than sorry)
    2. Open iPhoto on the Air, and import all your photos from the phone
    3. Now you can delete the photos on the phone and they're safe in iPhoto
    4. If you want to put them (or some of them) back on the phone, you can put the ones you want on the phone into an album in iPhoto, then sync that album back to the phone
    Hope that all makes sense

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • My phone told me it needed more storage - especially to update my iPhone iOS.  I decided to as more per month. It's still telling me it's almost full and I can't update. What am I doing wrong?

My phone is telling me it's almost full. Also I have and update to the phone that says I don't have enough storage. I updated this month to a lot more. It's still telling me I need more storage. I don't understand.

Ok and thank you. I did delete a LOT of photos and moved all my music just into my icloud and got rid of apps - really cut it down. i tried deleting music from my library and it won't let me and I have this update thing and I'm not sure what to do.

you can start out low and increase your data allowance as you need throughout the month, backdating it to the beginning of the billing cycle so you don't have overages; however, I found out the hard way that you cannot decrease your data allowance during the month and backdate it so you don't overpay for unused data.
what I do now is reset my data allowance to 2GB at the beginning of every bill cycle and then increase it if I get warnings that I'm going to go over... and I check it 3 days before my bill cycle ends to see if I think I might need to bump it up before the end of the bill cycle
it's annoying, but otherwise I end up paying thru the nose for overages or overpaying for data I don't use
BTW, I'm on the More Everything plan, which is the same plan you'll get unless you go Edge (where you pay the full price for the phone but don't get the 2-year commitment to it)

  • HT1688 i cant get update on phone or take videos, says i need more space

i cant get my phone to turn off and trying to just restore but unable to backup due to error saying i need more space, i cant even get some text messages or emails and i cant video anymore either

Back up ALL of your photos and videos to your PC and remove them from your camera roll.
Next, delete any apps you don't use on a regular basis or at all.    Go to Settings - General - Usage to see which are the largest ones and start from there.
Use Facebook?   Delete that... You can always reinstall it, but by deleting now you'll erase all of the cache that it's been using to download photos etc from your news feed.
Send a lot of Messages?    Delete those also... Especially the attachments such as photos.   Over time they take up an enormous amount of space.

  • NEW Kin TwoM Pricing / New Feature Phones

So, I've been checking the site compulsively for about the last two months...let me know if you think my logic on this is sound:
This week I noticed that the Kin OneM pricing went from 19.99 to FREE- it doesn't seem to be a promotional price either because it's listed as an "Online Discount" the exact same way the Crux and Cosmos are.
This leads me to believe two things:
    1) Possibly the best news- with so many of the feature phones moving to FREE pricing, it's not a huge assumption that new feature phone devices may soon be on the way.  (Please, please, please offer some compelling phones Verizon...)
    2) The Kin TwoM will soon see a price decrease as well- probably to the 19.99 range making it almost impossible to pass up.
If number 1 turns out to be true, I'll be waiting a bit to see what comes out before I pull the trigger on the Kin TwoM.
There's been recent news that Verizon will be releasing devices "later this year" (whatever that means) with the Brew OS and Opera Mini preloaded- this probably means they've got some decent feature phones coming.  I'm making that assumption based on the fact that the HTC Freestyle on AT&T has been pretty much regarded as the first device to be released like this...I'm thinking Verizon will want to compete with them at least at the beginning of a new standard of feature phones.
But, if it turns out that they again bring a line-up that only gets the teens excited, count me in for the Kin TwoM.
I'd prefer not to have to walk around the office with the same phone my boss's 15 year old daughter has...now there's an interesting water cooler chat:
"Bergman, nice phone...my tween daughter loves that thing..."

Somehow i feel the Kin phones won't be for sale for much longer. For those that need a basic phone with touch interface, there's other options which have a clearer interface. Including the Costco special Samsung SCH-u370. It's a Samsung u820/Reality that doesn't require data. No free wi-fi, but overall it's a much better phone. More ... finished, than the Kin phones. The Kins to me feels like a Windows Phone beta in comparison.
I do love how the tiles are laid out on the home screen better on the Kins than WP7 phones, there's no empty space above or to the right. And i love the favorites contacts screen of the Kins. WP7 phones though feels much sleeker and better zune like controls. And since you can load apps on WP7 your browser won't be outdated.
For current feature phones, i think the u370 is a top choice on Verizon. Good build quality, clear user interface, nice fonts and sizes, a useful sketch app, and the ability to doodle/notate on your pictures. Excellent value. Kin Onem, i can't reccomend. The phone dial numbers are too small on screen to be usable. Thicker than other feature phones, but because of the form factor, the side buttons are almost useless in one handed use. Kin Twom is much better in these aspects than the Onem. But certain interface font sizes are still too small.
The web browser (IE 6 Mobile) is not bad. Mobile and minimal pages loads quick on wifi. Although the back button is not easy to get to, and i haven't figured out if you can go forward in history. The url/title bar seems unfinished, i wish it would have swapped to the title after entering the url, thus saving space. The tiled bookmarks is a good idea, but page titles doesn't fit on the tiles. Even though the hardware is Tegra1, the Kin doesn't come with Flash lite. So alot of flash interactive buttons and streaming doesn't work. Infact simple mp3 playback and playlists doesn't stream in the browser. Which is sad.
One saving grace for the browser that i have found is Bing. Yep. http://m.bing.com/ Of course on first load it will be in landscape mode. And it only list the top 3 items of the menu, without being able to expand it. But go into portrait mode, and you should see the complete menu. Almost every web app on this menu worked well. My favorite is the directions. It almost makes up for not having google maps. Almost.
The strong points of the Twom is of course the browser + wifi, and zune. Which is like a zune hd lite. The FM radio made up for the lack of web streaming. I'm rediscovering FM thanks to it. And the zune desktop software is very modern and sleek. It made itunes look like it's made for accountants. Personally i love the Twom even though it has its quirks. The ui is unique, not quite WP7, and not like anything else. No branding as well. With FM radio i have wireless music anywhere, for free.
Here are some mobile sites that i found to work on Kin's IE6 Mobile:
http://m.bing.com/ --- search, local, traffic, directions (fantastic), movies, weather, favs.
http://mobile.local.com/ --- more direct/faster way to search for anything local
http://wapedia.mobi/en/ --- easier to load than mobile wikipedia
    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/
    http://m.whitepages.com/ http://www.gasbuddytogo.com/
    http://www.gasbuddytogo.com/ http://translate.google.com/m/
    http://translate.google.com/m/
There's plenty of news & social websites that have mobile modes. I've tried cnn, twitter, and youtube. And they all worked well. Youtube mobile seems to be the only way you can stream anything with the browser. I've tried other mobile video/music sites, and no go.
The phone have frozen 4 times within the last day. This happens with heavy web browsing and music playback. Overall i can't recommend the Kin phones, although go ahead and buy one while you can if you know what you're getting into. I feel that future feature phones will be more polished like the Samsung u370/u820 rather than these Kins. I just wish MS, Verizon, Danger and PCD realize that they were on to something great with these Kins despite the marketing flop. I like the TwoM despite the beta feel of the software and hardware (WP7 still looks like it's a beta product).
