Need more iMovie '11 project themes

I need more iMovie '11 project themes.Anyone know where to find some? The 8 project themes that came with iMovie '11 just isn't enough for me,
MacBook Pro OS X v10.7.5
thank you

iMovie '11 doesn't provide for 3rd party plug-ins unfortunately. So we are currently able to work only with the themes provided by Apple.
You may be able to find something suitable on the App Store, but these are mainly special effects (for example, "Clips FX for iMovie") that can be used in iMovie projects. However, they are not Themes, as such.

  • Imovie 11 project theme.

I'm currently using imovie 11 which should have the trailer project themes but when I go into the themes they are not there. I checked for updates and went on apple software to update it just in case but it said I already had the software installed.
How can I get these if they are meant to be on this version but are not?
    Cheers

Sometimes I think you can trick the iMovie installer to put them on the machine. What you want to do is find out where the iMovie installer is. If you got it with your computer, it's very likely on the set of gray colored DVDs that were shipped with your Mac. In that case you can run the installer from the disks by choosing Custom Install from the Mac OS installer disks.

  • Do you know where you can find more project themes for imovie 11?

I have enjoyed using the Project Themes in imove 11 and want more to choose from. Do you know of any others? Producted by a third party?

There are none, as far as I know.
Apple has not opened up the API to developers.
You can create your own in Final Cut Pro and Motion, but it is expensive ($350 total) and there is a big learning curve.

  • I need more information about imovie

Hi, I have some problems with the imovie, sometimes I save a project and when I return it to open has changed and it is listened to very badly or one is slow, also there are times that I apply an effect and duplicated scenes appear to me that before they were not. It wanted to know as I can solve these problems. Another problem which I have with the imovie is that the projects occupy much space and I cannot save more than five projects because if I do not remain without space, I can solve this?, finally it would thank for much that you could say to me all the effects, transitions and titles that are available for the imovie. Thank you very much

    Hello, Dalanina,
    Welcome to the discussions.
If you are having problems with iMovie, these are some recommendations that might help:
First, you need space on the hard drive for iMovie to operate. You probably need at least 15GB, preferrably 20GB for adequate function.
Next, make sure that you have updated versions of your software: iMovie, QuickTime, iPhoto.
Try deleting the preference file for iMovie. Close iMovie. Go to yourusername->library->preferences->com.apple.imovie.plist. Drag this plist file to the trash. Open iMovie. iMovie makes a new preference file whenever one is trashed.
See if this helps with the problem of the effects/ duplicated scenes.
It is probably best to work on one or two projects at a time because of the space requirements.
There are other things to do to save your projects and save space:
If you have completely finished the movie and do not wish to do more editing, you can burn it to DVD. First, create a DVD project, and when you are ready to burn the DVD, save your project as a disk image. Then, you will be able to burn DVDs from that disk image. For single layer DVDs, the amount of space will be 4.7 GB or less. You can save the disk images for each of your movies and delete the original iMovie projects.
You could also export the finished iMovies back to your camcorder to save them on DV tape, and then delete them from your computer.
You can export an iMovie as a Quicktime movie and then import that into a new iMovie project and delete the old one. The QuickTime movie will be smaller than the original because it will have only the clips you have chosen to be in the movie.
iMovie uses nondestructive editing, so it saves an entire clip in its files even if you put in only a short part of it. For instance, if you have a 15 minute clip and you use only 30 seconds of it in your movie and delete the rest, iMovie still saves the entire 15 minutes. It makes the size of your movie quite large. When you export it as a QuickTime movie, only the 30 seconds you actually want will be saved in the movie.
Consider getting a large external hard drive for your movie projects...and be sure to format it for Macs.

In the middle of creating a book in Aperture I need more photos. How can I add them to the browser at this stage?
You can add more images to your book, by dragging them from the browser to your book album. Switch to the Library Inspector, select the album or project with the images in the source list, and then drag these images onto the book icon. That will add them to the book album, and then double click the book album again to continue working with the book.

  • Imovie won't choose the project themes

    what can i do?

    Hi b.ceci12,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below from the iMovie Help Menu explains the behaviour you should be experiencing when adding themes to your iMovie '11 project:
Add a theme to your project
    Add a theme
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/movies/en/apple-ilife-imovie-tutorials_add_a_theme- us-20101020_640x360.mov
If your project isn’t already open (showing in the Project browser), double-click it in the Project Library to open it.
Choose File > Project Theme. The File menu appears in a light gray bar across the top of your computer screen.
Select a theme by clicking its thumbnail once; the theme previews automatically in the viewer on the right.  You can click other thumbnails to preview those themes.
If this behavior isn't what you are experiencing, try adding a theme to a new project.

  • My phone needs more space. I have lots of pictures on it and on my iPad. I recently purchased a MacBook and now my pics are on there. If I delete my camera roll from my phone, might I lose them?

I Need more space But if I delete my pics from my phone, how do I know that they won't reappear after the backup, or, much worse, be deleted from my MacBook and iPad after the Cloud backup?

    1. Connect the phone to iTunes and do a backup (better safe than sorry)
    2. Open iPhoto on the Air, and import all your photos from the phone
    3. Now you can delete the photos on the phone and they're safe in iPhoto
    4. If you want to put them (or some of them) back on the phone, you can put the ones you want on the phone into an album in iPhoto, then sync that album back to the phone
    Hope that all makes sense

  • Projects themes broken in iMovie 11?

Since upgrading to iMovie 9.0.9, I am now unable to get the project themes to work.  I thought I may have had a messed up preference file, so I deleted everything... the app, all the preference files, etc.  Reinstalled everything and still cannot get the project themes to work correctly.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any solutions?

Sorry, I should have been paying closer attention when I posted this.  The problem I am having is with the Movie Trailers under the Project Themes. When I select one, it NEVER loads in the preview box to the right of the trailers.  I just get that white dial that keeps going around and around.  What has happened?

    Hi,
Apple Care Level one responders are very Script Led.
This means they try to fit what you are saying into a Software or Hardware issue and into a Apple Care Period or  not.
If you are having problems convincing them it is an Account/Apple ID problem (even though it only effects the Mac's use of it in iMessages) ask to speak to a Level 2 person who should be more knowledgeable because fixing and Id issue is free and not subject to Apple Care.

  • Want the best quality imovie/idvd project

    Hi all
Just imported a video from my Sony digital8 cam using imovie. I'm having a little troubele deciding from idvd or imovie, which is the right direction? Can someone share a good home video back up system? I'm trying to import my home videos from my Sony digital8 camcorder

+I'm having a little troubele deciding from idvd or imovie, which is the right direction?+
It depends on what you want as an end result.
iMovie is an editing program so that you can crop your movies, add titles, effects, transitions, add still photos and audio files.
iDVD is an authoring program so that you can create a burned DVD disk of your videos, photos, etc. You create your movies in iMovie and then drop the finished movie into an iDVD project to burn it to a DVD disk so that you/others can view it on a TV from a set-top DVD player. iDVD has to compress data when it is burned, so you don't want to be burning DVDs to preserve your home videos if you want to edit them later in iMovie.
If you just want to burn them to back them up and you don't want/need to do any editing, you might want to look into just using a stand-alone DVD recorder. You could connect your dig8 camcorder and record to DVD disk directly.
You can also use iDVD to create slideshows and burn them.
You should go to Apple's support site for iLife and watch the tutorial videos for both iDVD and iMovie 6:
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#idvd
    http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutorials/idvd/index.html
    http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutorials/imovie/
+Can someone share a good home video back up system?+
Again, it depends on what end result you want. Some people think that they want to import all their video footage into iMovies, and save all of it on their computers. However, that requires HUGE amounts of drive space. Each of my iMovies runs from 25-60 GB. It is better to import the footage for each movie at a time, as you work on your iMovie.
A large external drive just for doing movies is a great idea. Get as large a drive as you can afford! Be sure to format it for macs first before importing anything. Keep the iMovie and iDVD apps on your main drive.
    I. Save your original raw digital 8 tapes. Data is already in digital format. Be sure to keep your camcorder so you can reimport if you want. If you really want a back up for these original tapes, you can connect your dig 8 camcorder to a miniDV camcorder and record to miniDV tapes. I did this for my VHS tapes as they were getting too old and I was concerned about further degradation. I like having a digital format of my original video VHS and Hi 8 tapes. This may not be necessary for you since all your tapes are already digital.
    2. Import videos into iMovie, doing just one movie at a time to save drive space, edit, then export the movie to miniDV tapes with a miniDV camcorder. This process gives you tape(s) of your EDITED iMovie. I use these tapes as a backup for my iMovies, since I delete my iMovies after exporting them and after I have burned my DVD of that movie. (See next).
    3. Create iDVD projects from edited iMovies, do 'save as disk image' for each one so that you have an image file of all your projects. Since disk images are self-contained, you can safely delete the original iMovie and iDVD projects without losing the ability to burn DVDs in the future. It also saves drive space. Use the disk image file for the actual burning of the DVD disk, using Disk Utility.
Now you have a set of raw original tapes, a set of edited mini DV tapes, a burned DVD and the disk image file of each project. You should copy all the disk images to another external drive as a backup.
I don't worry about backing up the DV tapes, as I can always reimport them. The tapes are small and store easily. It is recommended for longer life of the tapes that you get them out once a year and rewind them, but I have not been doing that.
Yes, you can take one of your burned DVD disks and create a disk image from it, and use it to burn more disks, but that means that your future burns depend on that disk staying in good shape until you want it. DVD disks can crack, break, melt, etc depending on who uses them. I prefer to know that my disk images are saved and backed up for when I need them.

  • IMovie/iDVD projects

I've made a handful of iMovie/iDVD projects for family members. Right now they are taking up space on my hard drive. While I doubt I will go back to them, I would like the ability to work with them again. Can I take one of the DVDs that I created and just reload the iMovie/iDVD and add thing/make edits at a later date?

.. another option is, to use a back-up software as Toast 7/8, which allows socalled 'spanning'...
choose Data, drag iM project into Toast.. it will ask you to insert DVDs.. and more DVDs.. as tilman stated, an iM project contains 13GB per hour project length plus the many hours you have imported...
you need Toast to re-import such a disk collection, to re-assemble the many files of an iM project...
.. it is mostly recommended to spend 100$ for some external, firewire connected harddrive (format to hfs BEFORE use...) ... then, it's simply drag'n drop ...

  • Importing from iMovie HD project

I bought a new iMac and i'm importing in iMovie 08 a project from iMovie06.
But i have 2 problems: first not all the clips are imported and second that the clips that are imported are not in the same order of the original projct.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

If in iMovie 06 have a project with 20 clip in iMovie 08 found less clips but everyone is complete. Entire clips are missing.
    1) If you are counting "rendered" clips in the "Project.PKG > Media folder," they are not included in the import. You will have o move them manually if you want them.
    2) If you are counting clips included in the source bin, then I don't know if they are supposed to import or not. (I.e., I don't use the built-in HD import option in iMovie '08.) You can check and see if these are your missing clips. if they are, then add them to the HD project before import and see if they are imported to iMovie '08. If they aren't, then you may need to send a feedback to Apple regarding this issue.
And the order in which are imported is not the same as in the original project
Editing and rendering in an iMovie HD project will change the clip names which, in turn, may re-order the files as the finder "sees" them. (I.e., they are ordered alphabetically in the project media folder.) So, if they are imported in alphabetical order, they would be out of their original "source" or timeline order.

  • How to Import iMovie v9 Projects/Events to iMovie v10

I had a heck of a time finding info on transitioning from the previous version (v9.0.9) to the current version (v10.0.7). One of the problems I was having was getting the new version to recognize my old Projects and Events. After some digging here and elsewhere, I figured out what was wrong and how to fix it.
In my case, I had provisioned iMovie 9 to keep the Events folder on an external hard drive while the Projects folder was on my iMac's internal drive in the Movies folder. Don't ask me why they were separated; I can't remember why I did that or even if it was a mistake. Whatever the reason, it caused trouble when it came time to upgrade.
iMovie 10 keeps all the Projects and Events in a single Library file. By default, this Library is placed in your Movies folder on your Mac's internal hard drive. During the initial installation, iMovie will ask if you want to import the old versions Events and Projects. You can opt to do it right then or wait until later. When you do attempt to import these files, iMovie 10 will look in the Movies folder for the previous version's iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders. If you have both of these folders in their default position, the new iMovie should be able to immediately import the files by copying them to the new version's Library. The old files will remain in their folders and will be useable by the previous version without any problems.
If you have the previous version's Projects and/or Events folders somewhere other than where iMovie 10 expects to find them, you may encounter an error when you try to import the old files. Even if the attempt fails, iMovie 10 creates extra files inside the old folder that prevent a successful import if you try it again. You'll need to look inside the old iMovie Events and iMovie Projects folders for a file called "UpdatedToiMovie10" and delete it from each folder. (In my case, I deleted these files from any drive that had these folders, not just the internal hard drive.) Restart iMovie 10 and select File > Update Projects and Events... to restart the import process. As long as the new iMovie Library is in the same folder as the old iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders, this should proceed without a hitch.
If, like me, your old projects and events were stored at least partially on an external hard drive, you should consolidate them onto a single drive. DO NOT do this from the Mac's Finder. Move the projects and events to the drive where you want them by dragging them in iMovie 9's browser. Hold the Command key while dragging to move the files instead of just copying them. (If you copy the files instead of moving them, you'll have duplicates on both drives. It's not a problem, but the files will take up at least twice as much space on your drives.) Once the files are located where you want them, you can quit iMovie 9 and re-attempt the iMovie 10 import process by selecting File > Update Projects and Events...
I hope this helps anyone else having this issue. I also hope that anyone who can see where I've explained this incorrectly will please post a correction as a response.

iMovies are not designed to be viewed in iPhoto. You should watch your movies from iTunes. You can SHARE/To iTunes and your movies will be in iTunes. From iTunes, you can watch them on your Mac, on your Apple TV, or you can sync to iPhone, iPad, iPod. You will also be able to access them through the Media Browser in Keynote, Pages, GarageBand, Logic, and iDVD.
The only movies that should be stored in iPhoto are short, unedited clips taken by a still camera. iMovie can edit them without taking them out of iPhoto.

  • NEED more than 15 menu item in Context Menu ????

    Hi,
I really need to have more than 15 menu item displayed on Context Menu. I desperately need some workaround or ideas to achieve this
My client has invested thousands of dollar in Flex Project, he definitely need more than 15 menu item.If this project failed , client will NEVER think to invest in flex.
Had I been  aware of this limitation before I would have thought some solution by now. This comes as a surprise to me at the last moment ,just fews days before Prod Date.
I cant also user java Scrip heck  as my Flex application is running inside Dot net Container , I do not access to the luxury of java script
Pls gents help me get rid of this ...PLEASE provide some ideas.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Dharmendra

    Thanks Natasha,
I got your point  but as for as I  know grouping like Quality is not possibel in Flax Context menu. I also cant go for window style menu(file, edit) because I need them to be displyed on DataGrid right clk . I am designing a trade datagrid where in trader can see all trades and he can approve/reject etc by just right clk and  selcting proper menu item form Context Menu.
In case of window style (acrobat.com) menu trader will have to reach to  menu instead of  getting all options on mouse right clk
I will have to think other alternative wich provides same ease as cotext menu.(God knows what is that )
    Once again thanks for suggestion.
