Need more information on iTunes U

Question

i'm a volleyball coach at a university looking to share video with my players. would iTunes U be a viable option for me? There isn't a demo or any information that i've found showing behind the scenes look at how that would work.
i want to share game clips with my players securely and i don't want this to be able to be accessed by anyone else. i imagine would have to have usernames and passwords for each player. can this be done? how much space am I allowed? Can players be auto-notified when clips are posted? Thanks.

Setting up an iTunes U account takes a lot of work, so while I won't say it's not something you should consider, you really would want to have your university as a whole support this, or at minimum the entire athletics department, not just your program. Apple no longer (as of a number of months ago) hosts the actual files, so in addition to setting up the iTunes U account, you'd also have to set up your own host server for the video files, or find a host to handle it for you. That's a lot of work for just a few videos from one program, so it's probably not really practical unless, as I said, you can get the entire athletic department or university involved.

You may find it most practical to just set up a secure web page to host your videos. Your campus IT department/web services department should be able to help with that.
