Need more range re. WRT150N wireless home router

Need more range re. WRT150N wireless home router. Am using this with a WPC54GS ver2 PCMCIA Linksys notebook adapter. I am trying to reach my garage, and I only get 6 more feet of range with this N router, before loss of signal, over my old WRT54G Ver.5 wireless router. I need about another 30 feet with a good signal. Solutions ? PS. Don't need advice ie. "relocate router".

make sure no interference in between , such as Cordless , Oven etc.
If u First , can access the routers set up web user interface , then try scrolling the channels . means changing and trying ur network again.
secondly , Decrease the beacon interval to 75 , Fragmentation and RTS threshold - decrease them by 42 points.
Note: youll find these settings , under advance wireless settings Tab.
Power cycle.
observe the connection.
if stilll no luck ! then
Go for WAP4400N , its A wireless access point for N series Router.

I am new at using an Ipad. My Ipad was connected to my home wireless. I changed the password on my home router and now I do not know how to change that password on my I Pad. Can someone help me?

    Tap settings on your iPad
    then tap Wi-Fi
click on the blue arrow which is next to the network
a new section will be opened
it will display the router settings and all ( you dont have to deal with it)
then tap forget network at the top
go back and tap your network
iPad will ask the password of the network just enter the new password and you are good to go
if a message appears unable to connect just go back turn Wi-Fi off then start it again
and try connecting to it again
i hope this will help you if not reply me and ask me for more questions.......do reply if it worked

First of all, Love the iPhone! When sending sms txt messages it would be nice to have the following:
1)Need a way to control the number of sms messages viewed in message for any contact history. Can this me done already, if so how?
    2) ABSOLUTELY need a way to prevent messages from popping up while user is NOT in sms interface. This is a big problem if there is sensitive data that flashes up when other eyes may be on phone. Also be able to control font size, colors, etc
    3) Encrypted SMS : any takers?

  • How do I add a repeater Airport Extreme? Need a little more range.

Just added the new Airport Extreme to my home/office network. Since my macbook pro is a dual core and not a dual core2, I am not able to use the new "n" wireless network. Not happy. So...I need more range to hit my office which is through 3 walls. How do I go about setting up a repeater. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you...Thomas

Neptune is correct and your impression of N to
    dismay
you is not founded. My G side of my network is now
    4
to 5 times faster than before the N router and
    just
about as fast as the N side of my network. So
    there
are efficiencies to be gained from the N router.
I concur. Adding the 2 AE 802.11n allows all my
802.11g connected devices to use the maximum speed
provided by my DSL line, 1.5 Gbit. I tested this
using dslreports.com tools. I can get the maximum
speed provided by my DSL provider (Verizon) from
anywhere in my hour (on 3 different floors).
Also I can use my iTunes streaming server (off a
Infrant NAS) to go to maximum speed. And Apple TV
streaming is working from all my machines, Macs and
    PCs.
So there are MANY benefits to using multiple AEs with
    801.11g devices.
Thanks to all. Just installed another airport extreme....but have no idea how to add it to my current network. I want to make it a repeater to extend my network. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best
    Tom

  • I need to limit the range of my wireless router WRT54G - Any ideas are appreciated.

I need to limit the range of my wireless router   WRT54G - Any ideas are appreciated.  I don't want to put on a password if I can avoid it.   Thanks for you advice in advance.  Milwaukie

Trying to confine a wireless signal to your home is not a practical solution to security concerns.  The distance that a wireless signal will travel is mainly limited by the receiving antena and sensitivity of the receiver.  An ordinary wireless receiver can probably pick up your signal for 200 to 1000 feet.  A great receiver could probably pick up your signal from a mile or more.  The best alternatives are:
    a) convert your system to a wired system, or,
    b) encrypt your wireless using a good encryption method (WPA or preferably WPA2) and use a strong password.

  • Lynksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router - Help needed to share internet connection from PC to home network

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I have:
I am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network?
To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router, although if anyone has any ideas how to do this I'd love to hear!
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my  Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! PS: both PC's are running on Windows 8

I have Cisco Linksys E900 router. I want to make my home Wi-Fi zone. But I don’t have Static IP. One more thing is that Service provider have web page Authentication. I have username and pass.
I am able to make SSID and security for my WI-FI LAN. I can use internet on one device. If I tried from second device again it’s asking me for username and password. While login it’s showing your first session in not logout. (Means I have to logout from 1st device and have to login on 2nd device.)
Is there any option that I can Use my all devices at same time?

  • Apple iTunes Home Sharing, and using an external AP with new GigE Wireless "N" Router

I just upgraded to the Verizon FiOS (Actiontec) GigE Wireless "N" Router (from the old megabit wireless A/B/G router) last week.  So far, almost everything has been working okay.  Before I get to the issue, let me make another statement...
My house is kind of a funny shape, so I have had to add on an additional access point to the router to help more fully cover the house.  So, I have an additonal AP (Amped Wireless part # AP20000G) plugged into one of the ports on the Verizon Fios GigE Router.
However, I ran into a bit of a stumbling block when trying to do Home Sharing to the devices on my network.  Initially, I found that Home Sharing wouldn't work at all.  I found that disabling the IGMP Proxy seemed to fix this, so long as I was connecting only to the wireless AP that's in the Verizon FiOS router.  However--when I connect to my additional AP, home sharing will not work.
Long story short, it seems like the Verizon router is blocking traffic between my iTunes server and any device that's connected to the external access point.  What could be causing this, and how can it be fixed?

'But can I both create the wireless network and remain connected to the city-wide wireless?'
Yes I think so. To answer in more detail, can I draw parallels with my set-up?
    I've an Extreme wired to a router (a house-wide, not city-wide network).
From this there are three computers that can all connect to the internet (one wired, two wireless)
As well as this I have four Expresses connected to various sound systems around the house.
The comparison I'm trying to make lies with my daughters PC laptop which, whilst always connected to the internet (via the Extreme) can be taken around the house and via Airtunes, play her iTunes library through any of the expresses.

  • I have an airport extreme for my main internet connection, an express to listen to music on my home theatre, another express to extend the network upstairs, and one more express for my wireless printer. whats the best way to setup the express stations?

So basically I would like to know if its best to have them setup on "join a wireless network" or "extend a wireless network"
Obviously the one I use to extend the network is setup that way, the other 2 are set on "join a network"
is this the optimal configuration? or should I have them all on "extend a wireless network" ?

There is really no "best" setting here for the AirPort Express devices. If you need more wireless coverage in the area where an Express is located, then it makes sense to configure the Express to "extend" a wireless network.
If you already have good coverage in an area where an Express is located, then the "join" configuration makes sense.
I've yet to meet the first user who felt that he/she had too much wireless signal coverage in their home, but you never know.

Re:  Wireless network, router WRT150N.  Recently installed in network.
My son is having trouble with his World of Warcraft latency.  It starts off excellent but tanks in about 10 secs after he starts playing.  I've concluded it must be something with the router.  I've tried most of the WoW fixes for latency, but I get same behaviour.
I note some other message threads of same problem, but no fixes.  Anybody help?

Log into 192.168.1.1 on your browser (no username, password is admin). Set the MTU to manual and change the size to 1400. Check WoW documentation for tcp/udp ports that need to be opened on the router.
    Keep us posted! (",)
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Wireless N Router Model # WRT150N

I currently have the G series Router and Super Booster. I want to purchase the new N series Router and want to know if it has a compatibel Booster, does it need one, and/or can I use my Wireless G Router Speed Booster with it?
    Thanks

you don't need a booster on an N-series router... it already have a higher speed... what you can do to get an optimum speed that the router supports, obtain an N-series wireless adapter/card as well...

  • Need Help setting up 2 wireless internet computers with 54g wireless router

I setup the 54g wireless router using the setup disk.  It appears to have worked find and the first laptop has wireless internet.  I am not familiar with setting up a totally wireless network so I am not sure if I did the rest right.  I then setup the 54g wireless internet router on the 2nd computer.  It appears to have loaded but will not connect to the internet.  I looked at the linksys setup etc... for both computers and all is the same including the WPA key, IP address, and the rest.  No differences noted.  I have no idea why the 2nd computer does not have wireless internet access.  It has wired access only.  The 2nd computer shows the wireless network but won't connect to it.  I click on it and hit refresh and nothing happens.  I am at a loss as to what to do now.
With 2 wireless computers, must there be a main computer and a secondary computer?  The 1st computer also doesn't have access to windows network setup for some reason.  It tells me to go to the knowledge base at microsoft.com and look up 871122.  No idea why the windows network setup is not working.  It did work before I got a new cable service provider and modem.  However, the windows network setup is working on the 2nd computer. Any help is appreciated.

does the 2nd computer even need the router info loaded into it like the 1st computer or should it be enough that the wireless network was created on the 1st computer?  In other words, would having the router info loaded in both computers cause the 2nd one to not connect?  I have spent hours on this and I am very confused now.
My router connects fine to the cable modem.  the 1st computer connects fine to the router and gets the wireless internet without a problem.  Again, the 2nd computer shows the network name but won't connect to it.  help please!!
