Need motion menu with audio song "loop" clarification

Hi guys, I have a feeling my answer will be "that's the way it works" but I thought I'd double check anyway.
I have a menu with a motion video as the background. It is 30 seconds in length. I added a song that is 3 minutes in length. "loop forever". The result is that the motion video plays to completion and the song plays but then BOTH song and video start over. Is there any way to have the song keep playing in entirety while the motion video loops ? I have a feeling No.
If that's the case, I'm forced into choosing a video that is the same length as the song; true?

Just set the length of the motion menu to the length of the audio. The video should freeze on the last frame for the extra duration. But accor4ding to problems reported here, this often does not work correctly.
Best results use a video and audio that are the same length.

Motion menu and audio set to different lenghts

On my chapter menu I have six buttons with moving video inside them which I want to loop for 30 sec. each and I have a 2min. song playing in the background. The problem is that when I set the menu to loop after 30 seconds the audio cuts out at 30 seconds as well. Is there a way to keep the audio playing all the way to the end and have just the buttons loop after 30 sec., or do I have to write a script and if so does anybody have a script/pre-script similiar to this? Is this possible?
I've looked in books and searched this forum for the answer but couldn't find it. Any help /direction would be appreciated.

You need to cmposite those video loops so that they match the length of the audio track. In essence, repeat them each four times in FCP and save them as a piece of footage for your menu. The visual effect will be that the video is looping whilst the audio is continuous, but in reality the video is simply playing through once. At the end of the two minute audio the entire menu will loop and it will all start again.

I cant get my hilites/overlays to match my 16:9 motion menus for the life of me!!!! They are always way off. Anyone have a secret? Been trying to read up on it but getting no where with results. Thanks!

I understand. I've never done it with multiple colors even though I knew it is possible. I try to keep it simple, and rather make anything around look funky.
Yeah the reason I do it that way (save as a JPEG so everything is flattened) is due to the fact that DVDSP can't read shadows, bevels and so on from PSDs, they need to be flattened. So I'd rather keep the PSD intact and be free to edit text and other elements without having to flatten over and over again. And then again, I can use the same PSD later if there's a new version or maybe use it for some other project, without inventing the wheel yet another time.

1st make sure you have the latest driver from Alesis. the latest one, which supports Leopard, was just released last month.
then go to http://www.macprovideo.com and get the Logic 101 tutorial. you will be up and running in no time

Help needed - New PC with all Songs and library on External Hard Drive

I hope someone can help me - I have just bought a new PC and have downloaded iTunes. All my songs are on an external hard drive, which I know how to get them on to iTunes - but I want to keep the playcounts and playlists that are also stored on the HD - I have tried looking for the answer to this, but cannot seem to find it anywhere. Thanks to anyone who can help.

This assumes that everything needed for an iTunes library is on the external hard drive which includes the data base files that contain the info you are concerned about (playlists, counts, ratings, etc.).

Motion Menu to Layered Menu transition with Music?

I have created a motion menu with video as an intro, then I want to transition (dissolve or FX) to a standard graphic menu made in photoshop as a single layer with simple buttons overlayed in DVDSP, all with a single, unbroken music track under both as it plays. Can it be done?

Can't be done. Each element (menus, transtions, tracks, ect) are all located in their own "container" within the DVD structure. Because of this, you cannot have unbroken audio.
Just make your intro and main menu one piece and adjust your loop point to have your 8bits appear when you'd like.

URGENT! Hide buttons til after loop point on motion menu?

Is it possible to hide the buttons on a motion menu til AFTER the loop point?
I have a menu where there is a 10 second motion graphics intro, then a loop point, then 30 seconds of slight motion graphics in the background. As it should, after 30 seconds, it loops back to the loop point and only plays the last 30 seconds again and again.
The problem I am having is that the buttons appear on the menu at the start, which looks awful as they get in the way of the 10 second motion graphic intro.
Is there a way to make the buttons only appear at the 10 second (loop) point?
As a side note - I tried doing the 10 second intro on its own track, then having the track jump to the menu, but that creates a little delay that is quite noticeable.. It's not a smooth and continuous flow like the way I am doing it above.

I add the button graphics into my background movie at the loop point. Then, I create an overlay file in Photoshop and add it to the menu? It will then only activate at the loop point, which works well since that's where the text would appear in the movie?
That's right!
I don't know is how to add the overlay in
Select your menu, and in the Inspector windows you'll find the Select Overlay option and navigate to your PSD overlay file.
I think that this Basic Menu Tutorial (from Drew13's www.dvdstepbystep.com site) could help you to create a basic overlay. Just keep the background of your file WHITE and your overlays graphics BLACK.

Music in motion menu

Hi All
I have created a motion menu with sound. The graphics fly around and settle and then the overlay appears at the loop point set. However, because I have the music starting at the beginning of the motion menu when the loop kicks in the music begins abruptly. Is there any way of fading in the music at this point.

You need to plan and edit the audio and video content so that the loop point will work as you'd hope. There is no setting in DVDSP to fade the audio up when you jump to a loop point.

Yep, noticed the same. But when you open the Audio Bin with the windows menu (like before) it's there again. It's a pity, that this feature is not yet implemented, used it all the time...

Sound in motion menu

I have motion menu with sound with endless loop.
in the first loop it plays well and from the second loop and
on the sound starts in delay. Does anyone have an idea for the reason

This is a known issue with the use of Preview. One needs to Burn to Folder, as you are doing, or Burn a DVD RW to test. It's one of the things that one gets used to. Do not know what the exact cause of this is n Preview, but it's been around long enough, that if it were an easy fix, Adobe would have nailed it by now. Do not know if it happened back in Encore 1 (wasn't that the last ver. to use DirectShow?), but from Encore2, it's been there. Nature of the "beast."

RAM Preview with audio?

I'm making a music video, so I need to preview with audio to make sure timing is right................Problem is I can't get the RAM preview to render the audio file......I see the audio mu te button in the preview window but it does nothing when toggled on or off.......How do I get it to render the audio?

I recommend you check your porefs, whether AE even correctly recognizes your audio devices. if you have multiple outputs available, you may switch them around. The same may apply to your system wide settings. If e.g. you have a video capture card and it is your primary device, it may only correctly initialize when the edit program is loaded, but not AE. In addition turn off any fancies like Virtual Surround or such. The additional audio processing may throw things off track as well. For the audio files themselves, make sure the sound is on tracks 1&2, not 3&4. AE only sees stereo on the first two tracks. You may need to split the audio and import it again. Lastly open the Audio panle and see, if you not just have muted everything....

Encore CS6 Rendering of Motion Menu very Slow

I have a motion menu with 4 motion buttons 1500 frames in length. It takes 1hour and 14 minutes to render. So with 5 menus it takes 6 hours to render 5 minutes of menu. I have a HP Z800 with two X5660 xeon processors with 48gB of ram and a raid 1E disc with sas 15000rpm discs.CPU usage shows 7%. Disc throughput is small. Does anyone know how to fix this.

I want to ask few questions to understand the issue.
1. Are you able to burn same project sucessfully even once ?
2. Can you attach motion menu that is crashing while rendering ?
3. Is this crash consistent ?
4. Is this crash happens with only specific size motion menu (1920x1080 , 1440 x1080) ?
Also please attach crash dump .
If you are on Mac you will get crash data ,if you are on windows please follow the instructions to copy the crash dump:
"when the crash occurs and windows error reporting throws the dialog ‘windows is collecting information’ , let it run as its creating the dumps etc and then when the ‘send error report’ dialog comes, it shows path to 3 files if you enlarge the dialog with ‘view details’.
Two of those are general app info files, third is a actual dump file (with extension .mdmp). While this dialog is open we can copy the .mdmp from the temp location"
This information will help in isolating the issue.

Help with Audio for Premiere Project

Working on a lengthy project and need some help with audio which is not my specialty!
I am recording using a Sony EX1r and a wireless lav mic,     OK. Here is what is happening.
When I import the clip into project I get Audio from the left speaker.   If I burn a DVD and playback on home player with surround sound, I get audio out of just the left speaker which makes sense.    SO I go to Premier and use "Fill Left" which fixes the audio on my computer and get sound from left and right speakers.    The odd thing is that when I play this version back from DVD on the surround sound system, the audio now only comes from the CENTER speaker. I dont get anything out of left OR the right speaker so it sounds hollow.
I am sure I am missing something obvious so please be kind.
Is there an easy way to get my audio to come out of Left, Center, and Right speakers (and rear for that matter) ???

The DVD player is a Sony BluRay and the receiver is an Onkyo AV receiver HT-R380.
My thinking is that it is something that I am doing wrong inside Premiere vs something that the DVD player or receiver is doing.    My final product will need to play on a variety of DVD players so I need to get it right.
It just seems odd that my default output DVD provides sound to the left speaker but then removes it when I fill Left.
Am I setting up my audio tracks wrong? Or should I being doing something with a 5.1 track???

Thanks for your quick reply. I have double checked the durations, and they seem to be OK, but i still cant set the motion menu button duration to more than 5 seconds. Here is what they are set to:
Menu Background
Duration: 29;29 (I can change this from 00;01 to 29;29 - which is fine for my needs)
Motion Menu Buttons
Duration: 04;29 (i can change this from 00;01 to 04;29 - This is what I'd like to set this to something larger)
