Need new ipod box!

Hello, well i was wondering if anyone could help me. Here is my story :
The click wheel on my fifth gen ipod keeps intermitenly failing to respond. it has became annoying. so i requested service (only bought the ipod in december) i recieved the box all well etc. however just as i was about to package it all up etc i realised id lost the bag thing and that red sticker thing. When i re-try to request another 'service' it just says there is already in progress. its been over the 10 day mark and it has not been removed off the request service area of this site.
Any one got any suggestions? i dont see any options to cancel my current requestI need apple to resend me the box etc so i can get this serviced. (but i cannot request service due to the current one in place)
Cheers!

  • Need new ipod?

My ipod hasn't been showing up in itunes for sometime although it was still able to play the songs on it. I went through all the troubleshooting steps and followed some steps from other discussions, but now it has the folder icon and the computer won't recognize it at all (asks to initialize disk)!
    The steps I've already taken:
    restarted the ipod
    updated the ipod and itunes
    reinstalled itunes
    restored the ipod
went into disk utilities and erased the ipod and then repaired it
tried to restore it again and it errored!
I don't know what to do from here, and help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a poor college student and can't afford a new ipod!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You need to download and install the latest version of iTunes:

Ambie12, You should probably start a new thread for your issue if downloading iTunes 7.5 doesn't help.

  • Does a refurb iPod box look different to a new iPod box??

Yup the subject preeeety much sums it up!!! Thanks in advance if someone answers!!

Most Apple refurbished items come in a brown shipping box that says refurbished.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
I truly appreciate any help I can get!
    Thanks again...

  • New iPod Touch needs to connect to itunes?

    Hi
I just bought a new ipod touch and it didn't work out of the box. I had to connect it to itunes to register it (or something). Is this correct? The store assistant says all new ipods need this, but the Apple help desk person says it should work out of the box. Any comments appreciated.
I can't find anything on this via Search.
    Thanks.

No, you have to set it up and configure it with iTunes before gaining full functionality of the iPod.

  • Ipod needs new operating system

    Hi there,
I've just bought the new 120gb ipod classic, and was a little irritated to find it wasn't compatible with my ibook G4, because I apparently have an out of date operating system. I've been searching for a solution but it seems more complicated than I first thought.
First, I was told I just needed to get "Leopard" on disc, and install it, and I'd be OK. Eighty-five quid I wasn't banking on spending, but there we are.
But then a mate of mine told me this would only work if I had at least a gig of free RAM. I haven't got the faintest idea what this means, but it turns out I can buy some extra RAM. Forty quid I wasn't banking on spending, but there we are.
But then, I was told that unless I had "firewire" the software update wouldn't work anyway because it came as a DVD and I only have a CD drive.
I'm now utterly baffled. All I want is for my new ipod to work! I don't care about new operating systems, RAM, firewire etc.
Can anybody out there please explain (in the simplest terms possible, so my small brain can cope) how to sort this out?
    Yours hopefully....

You need to upgrade to either "Tiger" (10.4) or "Leopard" (10.5) in order to use your iPod. (BTW, the minimum specifications are on the box and state you have to have at least 10.4.11). If you call AppleCare you can still buy Tiger through them and I think you can then avoid the memory upgrade (although it wouldn't hurt). You also need to tell them you have a CD drive and not a DVD and see if they have any remedy for you. Firewire applies only if you are going to try to update your computer from a different computer connected via Firewire, and you should have a Firewire port on your computer. Or, you can but an external DVD drive that uses Firewire and connect it to your computer.
If you call AppleCare they can explain all this to you in detail, or you can return the iPod and look on eBay for an older model that works with Panther (10.3).

  • I need to add my new ipod to itunes. it will only show the old dead ipod. i want to keep the music, but get rid of the info of the old dead ipod and add my new one and its info. please help.

    Hello,
I need to add my new ipod to itunes.
itunes will only show the old, dead ipod that my niece had given me secondhand.
I just got a new one and want to put in it's serial number, etc. but keep the music.
Please help, I've been going around in circles online for hours. I don't want to merely change the name of the old ipod, which is the only info I can find.
    Thanks.

"In addition, I would like to get all of the music files that are already on my ipod on to my new computer"
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod to iTunes.
Once the music from your iPod is in your new iTunes library, you can go about adding new music as you did previously.

  • I need to add my new ipod touch to my account or to get it running without downloading any more software

I have an itunes account but have bought an ipod for my son and am not able to get it up and running.  Message keeps telling me I need a different software but am not able to install this as it costs £150 ! Is there any way I can get new ipod to work with out this new software or by using my existing account? Thanks

Hard to say without any information.
    What ipod did you buy?
What did the message tell you?  What software did it say you neded?
    What software do you have?
    Information please.
You would have to meet the system requirements.  They are printed on the box the ipod came in and on Apples website.

  • I have a new iPod Classic 160Gb.  i have an iTunes Account, it recognizes my device but will not sync my library of music to my new iPod.  What do I need to do?

I have a new ipod Classic 160GB.  I already have an Itunes account.  The Itunes account recognizes my device but will not sync my library to this new device.
What do I need to do?

    Hi Amy2250,
Have you tried to sync music to the iPod via the iPod subdirectory of iTunes? To do this, plug your iPod into your computer, go into iTunes, click on the iPod tab, click on 'Music' in the iPod subdirectory and select whether you want to sync your whole iTunes library or just selected songs and press sync.
Alternatively, have you tried manually transferring music onto the iPod using the 'drag and drop' method? To do that, go into iTunes with your iPod connected, click on the iPod tab, in the iTunes iPod Classic subdirectory click on the 'Summary' tab, then tick the box saying 'Manually manage music' and click save. Then, in the same subdirectory click on the 'On this iPod' tab and click on Music. Then, select the songs you want to transfer either in Finder or Windows Explorer, select the songs you want to copy to the iPod and drag them to the blank list in the 'On this iPod' area of iTunes you just opened.
    Good luck,

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • I have an iphone 4 and i just bought an ipod touch 5th gen.  I need to sync everything from my iphone 4 to my new ipod touch.  Please read description beloew for further.

I have an iphone 4 16 gb and got an ipod touch 64 gb because i needed more momory.  i need to sycn everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th gen i just bought.  i just downloaded the latest version of itunes as well.  To be honest, the newest version of itunes is hard to use and not as user friendly in my opinion - or i may not know how to use it yet.  Anyways, i tried to backup my iphone to itunes and then restore my new ipod from the backup of the iphone 4, but it only backed up phoyos, contacts, and two other things (games was not one of them).  Then when I restored my ipod, that is all that downloaded onto the ipod as well.  I would really appreciate if someone would be able to provide me with detailed instructions as to how to be able to download everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th generation.  Thanks in advance!

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :
