why i need to Configure snapshot controlfile ??

this is a temporary file used by rman for read consistenacy.
<As Per oracle DOC>
RMAN needs to resynchronize from a read-consistent version of the control file, it creates a temporary snapshot control file.

Need fcc configuration on receiver file adapter

I am working on file to file scenario using fcc. My source file is picking propely in sxmb_moni its showing properly. but output file is not placing in target directory.

Do you need to convert from XML to Plain Text file? Or simply output the XML?
If you need to convert your XML back to plain you should go with something like that:

CTL File creation in Lab/Upgrade

Hello,
My current production cluster has a CTL file installed. I am now working on setting up a lab environment inpreperation of an upgrade to simulate my current cluster settings..
I need to create a CTL file for the new lab environement and had a couple of questions before moving ahead.
1. Can I use the same security tokens I am using for my production cluster?
2. Will this somehow affect my tokens giving me a problem with my production cluster?
3. When upgrading from 8.6.2 to 9.1.1 do I need to do anything with the CTL files or CTL client because of the version change?

Hw to skip first field of input file in ctl file and map other fields- cols

I need to write a ctl file where in my input file has 3 fields by comma separated.
My table has 2 columns. In my ctl file I am using
LOAD
INFILE *
TERMINATED BY ','
COL1 need second field in the file
COL2 need third field in the file
Not sure how to skip the first field.

Not sure abt it as
load data
infile *
into table [table name]
terminated by ','
(COL1 has to be filled wth second field of the data file,
COL2 has to be filled wth third field of the data file )

How to create a typed CTL files automatically?

I make extensive use of vi references and created many strict typedefs
of vi types. The problem is, that everytime, when i changed a vi, which
has a corresponding typedef ctl, i need to update this CTL file manually. I whould like to get the CTL file updated automatically.
I allready found a way, to automatically create a Control (with a
function from the "_NewProbeWizard.llb" library) in a VI, but this
doesn't work for CTL Files (See attachment).

You may have to go to the LAVA forum to get a good answer to this Q.
Without getting into scripting you may be able to do this under the right conditions.
1) First save the type specifier control as a type def and save it.
2) After ensuring the VI that uses the typedef (created in step #1) is not running use the code you have already to create the the type specifier control on the FP of a .ctl file.
3) save the new ctl as the name used in step #1
4) Open the VI that uses the type def and it should re-link to the new type.
I have used techniques like this to dynamically create enums for functional globals. It may work for you.

but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
unable to open these pdf.

in ctl file while loading file names in to a table we need to ignore if the filename already exist in the table
eg:
load infile.txt
into a
when filename not in (select filename from a) append
filename varchar(1000)
is it possible?? any way to achieve this?? Pleas help..

Thanks in advance..Easiest method i can think of would be to use an EXTERNAL TABLE instead of SQL LOADER.
Much more flexible.

Error when I configure snapshot controlfile RMAN

Dear Experts,
I have Oracle 11g R2 DB Primary and Standby in Two Machines
I have Window Server 2008
I am new for RMAN tools
I am doing RMAN configuration on Primary Side
I did OS Maping for one drive on Primary Side
Now I am doing RMAN configuration as below:
configure default device type to disk;
configure device type disk parallelism 4 backup type to backupset;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 'Z:\RmanControlFileBackup\cf%F';
configure controlfile autobackup on;
configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to '+FRA';
configure controlfile autobackup format for device type sbt to 'backup_%d_controlfile_%F';
configure retention policy to redundancy 4;
configure archivelog deletion policy to NONE;
configure snapshot controlfile name to 'Z:\RMANCONTROLFILEBACKUP\SNAPSHOT_EPPROD1_CF.CTL';
Then I get the following error.... I don't know how can I clear it I did my search on line I found this link

I am using Oracle 9i to Import Data from a disk file to the table in the database.
Here are the CTL File and .Dat file i am using to import data to the database.

I already created a table with 12 columns as specified in the ctl file. I am trying to import data from a disk file ie from sampledata.dat file.
I am seeing the following error in JOBS.
VNI-2015 : The Node preferred credentials for the target node are either invalid
or do not have sufficient privileges to complete the operation.
On Windows platforms, the Node credentials specified for the Windows target
should have the "Logon as a batch job" privilege.
What do i need to do in order to succeed saving the data into the database?
Can anyone help in this issue?

Hi, i think that your problem is about the authentification credentials with Oracle Agent On Windows system. If you need execute jobs and task with this agent you must config correctly the environment. The OS user that you use must have the privilegies for execute "Logon as a batch job", this configuration must set into Control Panel>Administration Tools>Local Security Police>User Rights Assigments>Logon as a batch job, here you must add the user to this police.

OWB: .ctl files deployment

I'd like to know why OWB doesn't give me the option to deploy
the generated .ctl scripts; in fact, the only two available
options are "view code" and "save as file".
I am working with OWB 3i and an Oracle 8.1.6 data base.

OWB can't deploy Ctl file because it doesn't use SQL Loader.
YOu need to use either OEM 2.2 with register your run.ini either
SQL loader in your console.
With OEM it seem to work fine. But don't forget to put good
value in the OWB configure mapping....

Need help configuring Excel Services

I've configured both the Excel Serives and Secure Store Target applications and continually receive the following error message when trying to view the Simple Projects List sample report:
An error occurred while accessing application id ProjectServerApplication from Secure Store Service. The following connections failed to refresh:

The Server Logs show the following errors:
Access Denied: Claims stored in the credentials did not match with the group claim for a group app.
The Microsoft Secure Store Services application Secure Store Service failed to retrieve credentials. The error returned was 'Access Denied.' ...
Access is denied. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.Office.SecureStoreService.Server.SecureStoreServiceFault)
SSS has failed with the following exception: Access is denied.
Unable to esablish a connection using credentials retrieved from SSS. This could be because the Unattended Service Account is not configured or because the credentials retrieved from SSS are not valid.
I've repeated the steps to create these configurations a few times, and continue to get the same errors. Any help would be appreciated!

Snapshot control file

Hi,
I am interested in time of snapshot control file creation.
I have read that snapshot control file is created before the backup take the place. I have tried to take the simple rman>backup database command, but I have seen that snapshot control file is created after all backup process (I have seen the time of creating the snapshot control file).
Can anybody tell me about this? When the snapshot control file is created (before backup, maybe in the memory, because I can't see it on the file system).

I have read this sentence from Oracle Database 10g RMAN Backup & Recovery:
RMAN needs to get a consistent view of the control file when it sets out to make backup of every datafile. It only needs to know the most recent checkpoint information and file schematic information at the time backup begins. After the backup starts, RMAN needs this information to stay consistent for duration of the backup operation; in other words, it needs a read consistent view of the control file. With the constant updates from the database, this is nearly impossible - unless RMAN were to lock the control file for the duration of the backup. But that would mean the database could not advance checkpoint or switch logs or produce new archive logs. Impossible.
To get around this, RMAN uses the snapshot control file, an exact copy of your control file that is only used by RMAN during backup and resync operations. At the beginning of these operations, RMAN refreshes the snapshot control file from the actual control file, thus putting a momentary lock on the control file. Then, RMAN switches to the snapshot and uses it for the duration of the backup; in this way, it has read consistency without holding up database activity.
I must ask you if I am using control file only (not recovery catalog) what is happening when I am executing simple RMAN command> backup database;
You have said that I don't create snapshot of control file at that moment, only at the end of the backup process (I have also try it in my environment and snapshot is created at the end of the backup process).
How RMAN knows what to backup (which files), he takes this information from original control file (not from snapshot) I suppose.
What is happening when he finished backup of some backup set, he writes that information again in original control file I suppose.
And at the end of all process why he takes snapshot of control file (to backup control file from it, not from original control file, because control file is always changing, need to lock it). In that snapshot control file (and in the its backup) we will have the pointers on files that are made after the backup process started (is this true).

Upgrade cucm from 8.5 to 9.1 : Security issue (CTL Files)

I am in the process of performing a P2V upgrade from CUCM 8.5 to CUCM 9.1. The same IP address and Hostname on the new cluster will be kept.
Could you please advise on what are the right steps to do this operation, knowing that I have deployed CTL files on my phones using usb etokens.
My cluster includes 1 PUB + 8 SUB distributed over WAN.
Total phones is : 1800 phones
Only the Publisher will be upgraded to virtual instance. All subscribers servers will be kept at mcs.
Actually, I'm working on the Publisher to restore the cucm DB v8.5, do an upgrade to v9 and test all phones behavior before upgrade the whole cluster.
Do i to take care about subscribers before upgrade, knowing that tftp role is on different servers not only the publisher ?
What is the behaviour of phones when going to the new cluster ?
What is needed to be done in maintenance mode and in production mode ?

What version of 8.5.1 are you on? Look out for https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtn50405/ which causes certificates to not be backed up properly so when you do the backup/restore you could run into problems. The good news is that you are using CTLs which uses a physical token so you cannot run into a state where the phones do not trust anything (unless the tokens are lost/damaged of course).
