You cannot upgrade Solaris (any version) by simply applying patches. You also cannot upgrade Solaris 10 via any sort of downloaded "upgrade" package.
You will need to download the current DVD/CD set, then boot from it. At that point, you will be offered the choice of upgrading your system.

  • How to release a Transport Request at operating system level

    HI,
How to release a Transport Request at operating system level. Please specify the complete commands along with the pf parameters for TP Export only.......

    <b>tp export <request></b>
This exports the complete request from the source system. This command starts the export of a request from the operating system level. Only use this command in exceptional cases. The SAP System uses the command expwbo to release requests from CTS transactions
    <b>tp cleanbuffer <sapsid></b>
This deletes successfully imported change requests from the list of requests that are marked for import into the SAP System <SAPSID>. This function is contained in the commands tp import all <sapsid> and tp put <sapsid> .
    <b>tp delfrombuffer <request> <sapsid></b>
If the specified request is marked for import into the specified SAP System, this flag is deleted from the import list.

  • Backgroung scheduling at Operating System level

    Hi ,
How can we schedule the background jobs at operating system level on windows, as we can do on the unix operating system.
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi,
As far as my knowledge we have to use third party tools to schedule background jobs in windows.
There are many schedulers available in the market.
Even i think you can schedule external programs using SM36 in SAP.

  • Do i need any of the operating system disks if I clean install?

My MAcbook pro is getting serously slow esp on the internet. So from what I understand the best method is a clean install.
However I do not have any of the previous operating system disks like Snow leopard and Lion. I am currently using Mavericks.
My worry is that the computer will go back to it's original operating system (i think Tiger), and I will not be able to update to MAvericks because I don't have any of the operatings disks before that.
Or maybe I don't need them? I have backed up everytjing on my computer and used time machine as a back up.
    Thanks in advance,
    L

Did you do an Over the Top install? That is where you reinstall right over OS X that is already on your system.
If you did and it ran fine for a day or so I suspect you are having some hard drive troubles. With an over the top install that replaces system files, OS X files, and makes them fresh. But if after a short while the system starts to run poorly again that comes from some corruption of those files. That only happens when there is drive problems.
If after doing a real clean install, first erasing everything off your system with Disk Utility, you still are having slow downs first thing I'd do is check out the drive for errors and personally I'd replace the drive.

    Hi,
I did reinstalled the computer yesterday. It seemed to work fine, and a lot faster. Unfortunately today it is back to a slow pace again. I will try the next step to clean install.

  • HT1338 How can I tell how old my imac is and what operating system level I can run?

I am trying to figure out what is the highest level of operating system I can install on my imac. I do not know who old it is either.
    thanks

This should help in identifying what iMac you have.  When you have done so, enter in the support entry field the name of the OS you are interested in for technical requirements and match that with your iMac specifications.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1758
The odds are that Snow Leopard will be most recent you can install.
    Ciao.

  • Need operating system software

Hi folks, I'm kinda new here so bear with me if this is a dumb question!
I received an iBook G4 from a friend a couple days ago, but it's in need of an OS re-install. Problem is, he lost the CD. Is there any way to download the OS from Apple? I assume that since I now own an Apple computer that I have a valid operating system license, right? With that in mind, I was thinking that I might be able to input my computers serial number and get to a download site.
    Any input is appreciated!

    Welcome To Discussions SR!
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.9 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, Jaguar Full Retail CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some additional online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, etc. roam also posted AppleRescue.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade on them.

What's A Computer Specific Mac OS X Release
Software Update, Upgrade: What's The Difference?
Before upgrading to any OS X version, check to see if your Mac needs a Firmware Update.
If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 Combo Update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version of either OS.
If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, you could also consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
    Jaguar System Requirements
-Power Mac G3 or G4, iMac, eMac, PowerBook G3 or G4, or iBook computer
    -128MB of physical RAM
-Supports all video cards shipped by Apple on Mac OS X-compatible systems. Quartz Extreme functionality is supported by the following video cards: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX, GeForce3, GeForce4 MX, or GeForce4 Ti; Any AGP-based ATI RADEON card. A minimum of 16MB VRAM is required.
-QuickTime Pro functionality requires a QuickTime 6 Pro key. The QuickTime 5 Pro key will not work after this software is installed.
-DVD Player requires a DVD-ROM equipped Macintosh with built-in FireWire.
    Panther System Requirements
    Additional Panther System Requirements
Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."
Download the Media Exchange Program Order Form Here.
Orders must be mailed by June 22, 2007.
AppleRescue, also sells a Tiger installation set on CD
Also, if the original owner calls Apple Support, it's possible that replacements, of the original system discs, may be offered for a fee.

  • I bought a new MacBook Air a few weeks ago and asked them to transfer data from my very old MacBook and they turned the new computer into the old one, essentially, that doesn't think I've got the latest operating system OSX 10.8.5 installed on it!

How do I get the old operating system and data put into the background and have the new computer be a new computer with me recognized as an authorized user?

Hi, I see I haven't had any responses but these problems haven't been fixed.
I still haven't been able to transfer purchases from my phone to my comp so consequently have stopped purchasing on my phone.
I bought a couple of albums recently via itunes on my comp, and tried to tranfer them to my phone via a playlist, but the sync often crashes. One album transferred except for one song, and the other hasn't at all. What happens is that when I autofill from a playlist it often hangs for ages on the first song and then I have to quit the application altogether as nothing happens for ages. Basically, the whole Itunes software freezes.
After this I find it hasn't transferred any songs, but they do appear greyed out on my phone, which means it has transferred some basic data such as the titles, but not the song itself. When I try to repeat the process to complete the transfer Itunes tells me that it can't transfer because the songs are already on the phone, but they are not!! I can't click or remove on the greyed out items, so now I have a couple of almost full albums on my computer that I can't tranfer or install on my phone, and a whole bunch of greyed out songs on my phone that I can't play or remove!
The rest of the problems as above still stand. I downloaded the latest itunes OS updates but nothing's changed. I haven't done the very latest iphone update yet though because it says you need to make sure your stuff is backed up, and I don't want to lose the purchases I made on the phone that I can't transfer to my comp. I'm planning on uninstalling itunes completely and reinstalling but I have little faith that this will fix the issue.
Can someone please help at all?? I'm so sick of this!

  • What operating system is required for Logic Pro 9?

Just bought a Mac Pro with 10.7.5 Lion already installed. I want to know If I need to change the operating system to support Apple Logic Pro 9?
I have'nt bought Logic Pro 9 yet, but I bought Pro Tools 10 and would like to have both Logic and Pro Tools on the same computer. There both picky about
which operating system to use. Which operating system would support both?

I think sticking with Lion 10.7x is your best bet, you will find easier going with both Protools & Logic. Some report problems with Mountain Lion and Logic.
Check and make sure you don't need the 10.7.5 supplemental update, if you do, INSTALL it otherwise Logic won't recognize some AU plugins.

  • Operating system level authentication

Access to my application's functions and data is based upon the privelages granted to the role(s) in which my user performs. Users go in and out of my application all day long and it is not acceptable to have them login to my application every time they enter. Nor is it acceptable to leave the application open on the desktop all day. Therefore, I need to base security on their login ID to the Operating System.
How, in Java, do I access a user's login ID to Unix or Windows? Is there and object.method somewhere that does this?
    Thanks.
    Jim

it's platform specific, so you are not going to find it in plain java. You'll need some native interface solution to handle this problem.
