Need Oracle 10g & 10g AS advice in Delhi

We have a developed a MIS software related to HARD/Road/Bridge/Building with Inventory and project monitoring. The Software is complete as per Client Server Architecture. Presently we have Oracle 9i , Windows NT/2003 Server, 32 bit .
We require to migrate it to 10g and deploy it on Oracle 10g application Server and impart training to the users/ developers .
I[b] am seeking someone from Delhi region to provide me some IMMEDIATE technical ONSITE support .  .
Technical details
(1) Oracle 9i: Ver Rel2 (9.2.0.1.0) for windows
(2) Server 512 MBR, present OS is NT4.0 we are upgrading it to Windows 2003
(3)(report and forms have been designed by d2k- form6i/report6i
One may call me at +91 9830251150 . Pls ask your friends / contacts if they could assist us .

First, you will not be able to install a Database and Application Server on that server with 512MB RAM. Secondly is this definitely NOT the kind of forum where you should make commercial advertisement, spamming etc. If you need a resource, I advice you to call Oracle Consulting directly.

Martin

  • Need oracle 10g software to install on OS windows 7

    Hi,
Need oracle 10g software for install on OS windows 7.

You can download the file from
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10203vista-087538.html
and install the same with ignoreSysprereqs option at command line.
However, for a certified combination, you need to download 10.2.0.5.0 patchset (patch 8202632) from Metalink and apply on top of this installation.

  • Upgrade steps needed - Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g in RHEL 4

    Hello,
Am in the process of upgrading oracle 10g with 10.1.4.3 IDM,10.1.0.5 DB and 10.1.4.2 portal version to Oracle 11g. Now I see that there are some compatibilities in the OS. I have RHEL 4 and when I check the compatibility guide I see that it is possible to install/upgrade the oracle to 11g. But am worried on the kernel and packages which is needed for Oracle 11g. If there is any step by step assistance on this please guide me. Also I have an another query can I upgrade the OS RHEL 4 to RHEL 5 and then Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. Will I be seeing any issue after the OS upgrade with product upgrade. Kindly advise me.
    R/Ganesh

This is all about libraries, some libraries between RHEL 4 and 5 had change and this may lead to malfunction of some products, cause they have been copiled using old libraries that doesn't exist now, even I think in the upgradres there are compatibility modes where let you keep old libraries, anyway seems a difficult thing to do. If you plan to move RHEL 4 to 5, I think this is your first step and then install again the Portal in the old version, and then make the upgrade, If you make this step by step, as firts install RHEL 5, install db, install portal, upgrade DB and finaly upgrade portal, would be easier. You may want to read the Master note for this upgrades in oracle Support 873751.1

I am planning to give an exame !Z0-141 for Oracle form developer. I don't have Oracle Official Kit. If anyone has and interested to sale me, please let me know. You can reach me at my personel email [email protected]

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence. Well, in my opinion, a higher market share does not reflect the quality or reliability of a product. Take MS Windows for example. Unfortunately, the reason for success is often not due to knowledge and experience, but rather due to fear and sheep effect or herd behavior.
Perhaps you can use other arguments or questions to help you to make a decision, eg.:
Oracle has a better understanding of what Oracle products require than Red Hat.
Oracle takes full responsibility for the OS and Database, no finger pointing.
Oracle tries to provide a better product than the RHEL kernel.
The Oracle UEK kernel contains Oracle driver software, not available for RHEL 6 or later.
Oracle updates are free of charge, RHEL requires a subscription.
Oracle as a company is about 20 times bigger than Red Hat.
There can be reasons that require the use of the original RHEL kernel, for instance if the vendor of a specific driver for your hardware demands it. But otherwise...

As Anurag said, we don't even know that what version you are on at the moment and what's the need of your business. So it wouldn't be possible for us to tell what you should put in your db regarding 10g. Interestingly, you mentioned that you are running 10g so what features you saw in 10g that raised eyebrows of yours, none is it? Since you have asked , I would give a try to the new EM given by 10g but that's just one of the may new features and only you would decide what fits for you and with your application.

  • Need Advise and Suggestions-Oracle 10g

    Hi,
I have been working on databases as DB developer(mainly PLsql)--Oracle 10g
Recently,i have joined in a particular position where I have been asked to find out areas where
improvement is necessary / or areas where improvement or changes would help very much and also gradually implement all best practises avaialable.
So,could you please help me with these queries
(1)What are the most important areas that i can start with the database which would impact largely the entire database. How can i start with it? any steps or process
(2)I had once taken a report out for the expensive SQLs running. But that dint help much...because those SQLs were used temporarily on and off.
Similarly, what are the other points to be looked on.
(3)Things which can be replaced with the industry standarad better ones fully.
an example would be...like.."following a particular naming format,or coding style, etc
    Thanks
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,
This is a pretty huge subject. To start, I'd say you need to talk to the business. Talk to the users of the database, cause they are your customers. Get a clear understanding of the most critical business processes. Start with the most critical ones, and get performance profiles. How long do they take to run? What's the customer's perception of the process performance? If it's acceptable, move on to the next one. If it's not acceptable, you'll need to dig deeper. Look at each piece of the process. Where is the most time being spent? Can it be improved? This step will be a combination of process improvement and setting the correct expectation. Often, the user doesn't really know what is realistic in terms of performance. If you have a 2 billion row table that needs to get full table scanned, expecting a response time of a few seconds just simply isn't going to happen. You need to clearly convey that to the customer. On the other hand, at the same time, you should be on the lookout for real improvements. If you can re-write the SQL or add an index, and eliminate the FTS on that 2 billion row table, maybe a response time of a few seconds is actually realistic.
It's all about understanding the system, and understanding the customer's needs, and how they intersect. It will be an iterative process, and will take some time.
As to "best practices", I'm not a fan of them. Understand your system, understand your customer's needs, and understand how Oracle actually works. If you can master that, you'll be unstoppable. Note that many, many people, much smarter people than me, have spent a lifetime trying to master those three points... :-)
Good luck with your new job!

    $ cd ~/.ssh
    $ ls
You should see the id_dsa.pub and id_rsa.pubkeys that you have created.
    2. Using SSH, copy the contents of the ~/.ssh/id_rsa.puband
~/.ssh/id_dsa.pubfiles to the file ~/.ssh/authorized_keys, and provide
the Oracle user password as prompted. This process is illustrated in the following
syntax example with a two-node cluster, with nodes node1 and node2, where the
    Oracle user path is /home/oracle:
    [oracle@node1 .ssh]$ ssh node1 cat /home/oracle/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >>
    authorized_keys
    oracle@node1’s password:
    [oracle@node1 .ssh]$ ssh node1 cat /home/oracle/.ssh/id_dsa.pub >>
    authorized_keys
    oracle@node1 .ssh$ ssh node2 cat /home/oracle/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >>
    authorized_keys
    oracle@node2’s password:
    [oracle@node1 .ssh$ ssh node2 cat /home/oracle/.ssh/id_dsa.pub
    authorized_keysoracle@node2’s password:
Note: Repeat this process for each node in the cluster • Need help for importing oracle 10G dump into 9i database

hi, Someone help me to import oracle 10G dump into 9i database. I'm studying oracle . Im using oracle 10G developer suite(downloaded from oracle) and oracle 9i database. I saw some threads tat we can't import the higher version dumps into lower version database. But i'm badly need help for importing the dump...
    or
someone please tell me the site to download oracle 9i Developer suite as i can't find it in oracle site...

I didnt testet it to import a dump out of a 10g instance into a 9i instance if this export has been done using a 10g environment.
But it is possible to perform an export with a 9i environment against a 10g instance.
I am just testing this with a 9.2.0.8 environment against a 10.2.0.4.0 instance and is working so far.
The system raises an EXP-00008 / ORA-37002 error after exporting the data segments (exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions).
I am not sure if it is possible to perform an import to a 9i instance with this dump but maybe worth to give it a try.
It should potentially be possible to export at least 9i compatible objects/segments with this approach.
However, I have my doubts if this stunt is supported by oracle ...

  • Need ACES attention - connection pooling in oracle 10g rel 1

I am using TOMCAT 5.0.19 Webserver and ORACLE 10g REL 1 as the database server. I have to restart the TOMCAT Webserver in order to establish connection atleast twice or thrice in a weak. Why I am unable to see the connection pooling in oracle 10g rel 1. How to revive or establish the setup. My objective is to have a centralised oracle 10g rel 1 database server and the applications of java are run thru centralised Webserver Tomcat 5.0.19.
Can anyone please help me out optimizing the design setup.
    Regards
    Vijay Kumar

by putting 'Need ACES' in your post title, you might have actually reduced the number of people reading your post, in other words someone >who might have suggested Thanks John for your reply. I changed the subject of the thread after not getting any reply for past 10 days. Last two days I have been updating with plea for attention to my problem. Finally I thought pulling attention of ACES, then only I edited the subject.
Now, problem I am facing is not in oracle database but in application server. Actually we are running web applications thru Tomcat accessing Oracle 10g rel 1. I am often losing connection with web server. The users are unable to login in the web application. I was told to check oracle database server. I just checked alert log and found no errors. I just asked them to shutdown and restart the web server Tomcat 5.0. It then worked fine. This is temporary. I need to ensure where the problem is. Could you please guide me in checking various parameters or files to be checked to optimise connection pooling.

  • Need to setup Oracle 10g Sandbox for Class

    Hello all,
This is the first time I am teaching a class on Oracle 10g. I would like some advice on how to do the initial setup of the database. I have 14 students in my class. I want to create each of them an account and I want each of them to be able to create tables in a sandbox. I do not want student A to be able to see student B's tables or do anything to them. I would like each student to be able to create tables with the same name. If Student A creates a table called Inventory, Student B should be able to create a table called Inventory without colliding with Student A's table. What would be a simple way to do this? Thank you!

Sorry if you took it wrong, but it was not clear from your first post.
So, to try to give a "better" answer, assuming you have only one database for all your student, you should not be afraid they "see" tables from eachother.
Oracle allow multiple times same object name hosted by different users, as long as they have no public synonym.
You should create the users with the minimum rights you want they will do (create table, create view) without forgot create session and quota against the proper tablespace, and probably you should give them a default tablespace as well. But avoid any powerful rights like DBA, RESOURCE and CONNECT, they would be able then to fire some commands you want to avoid.
    Nicolas.

  • Need SQL tuning tips in oracle 10g.

From time to time I come across some slow running queries used in SQR. I want to know the tuning technics in oracle 10g as I believe it is different now becasue of CBO.
As I am not an oracle man to tune the query I can try if there are any guidelines. Also while optimizing a query what are the important things need to be considered:
Do you want the first rows back quickly (typically during online processing) or is the total time for the query (typically a batch process) more important?
Are the tables properly indexed to take advantage of the various operations available?
How large are the tables? Joining smaller tables first is usually more efficient.
How selective are the indexes? Indexes on fields that have only a few values don't really help.
How is sorting done? Are sorting and grouping operations necessary?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

How selective are the indexes? Indexes on fields that have only a few values don't really help. But can still be useful if the data can be read from the index instead of the table.
How is sorting done? Are sorting and grouping operations necessary? This is a business requirement, if you need to sort you need to sort.
