Need Permission for Firefox Update?!

More permissions problems in Leopard.
I've been trying to install the latest version of Firefox (2.0.1.14 or something to that effect) only to have it tell me at start-up that the update can't be installed because I do not have sufficient permission to modify the relevant files.
I've tried to go through and give my user custom read/write access on just about every folder I can think of that might be relevant, but problem doesn't go away.
I've also tried downloading the new vers. of Firefox from their website, but Leopard won't let me even drag the new app into the apps folder--same "lacking permissions" message.

One thing you could try is to use the root account to do the install. Do not download the app in root do that in a restricted user. Do not browse or leave your internet connection on in root.
To enable root open the utilities app, Directory Utiliy. Open the little lock by entering an admin password. Be sure to disable root through the same menu in DU after the job is done. If you have not enabled root before you can do it by using the password re -set utility in a boot from the OS install DVD. DSo the same if you have forgotten the root password you set.
If you are wary of root you could try the install by putting the Firefox dmg file into the shared user folder, log into an admin user as against just authenticating from a restricted user with an admin PW. Open and mount the dmg file in 'shared' from the admin. I assume it is Firefox in you Mac OS and not Firefox in Windows on an intel partition.
Last thing is try an install just after a restart. If this or anyone else's post sorts it, please close the query by marking it solved.

I need *.eap or *.deb file for firefox update

I am using an asus netbook with linux. For whatever reason the installed firefox is set to update automatically, which it unfortunately for me does not do When I download the latest version of firefow the netbook only accepts *.eap or *.deb files. I was wondering if the frefox update files even come as one of these files!? Can zou help me figure out how to getthe latest firefox version?

Is it an eeePC? I have an Asus eeePC 901 linux with an old version of Firefox.
It is possible, but complicated, to update to the current version of Firefox.
I suggest you search on the eeePC forum - it's a subject that has come up several times.

Need suggestion for Column update in query results

While generating reports using Oracle 10g SQL Query, we need to update the few of columns data with business calculations. We are processing large amount of data. Kindly suggest us, for the best method to achieve this.

i don't know about Oracle 10 SQL Query but i wouldn't mix reporting with data calcuations which is stored persistent in the database. I would separate them, e.g. you could create a database-job to execute your updates at a specific time each day.

Need link for iCal updates (they are not showing on Software Update)

Apple's iCal update page does not give an actual update - it just gives instructions on how to use OSX 'Software Update'. Software Update doesn't show any iCal updates when I run it.
I need the latest versions for Panther 10.3.9 AND the version for Tiger 10.4.9
So what is the bonafide link to getting iCal updates/versions?

iCal 1.5.5 is the most recent for Panther, and can be downloaded from here.
In order to obtain the most recent version for Tiger Mac OS X 10.4.9, you can use the Custom Install feature from your Mac OS X installation disk. Then use the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update to bring the iCal version up-to-date for that release of Tiger.

Need Help For Bios Update...

Hi Buddies, my mobo (760GM-P23 (FX)) is working with an Athlon II X3 455, Kingston HyperX KHX1333C9D3B1K2/4G Dual Kit and with just on-board graphic. MSI Live Update shows the bios H.20 as my board's and H.A0 as upgrade version. Is this information correct?
I'm an inexperienced pc user. Is there any software which installs the bios update through windows' interface?
I'm using "Core Temp" software as processor heat controller. Any other advice which shows also the mobo's temperature?

The opening sentences say it all. Its infuriating to go away while I record streaming video, and return in an hour or so to find just about the entire recording covdered by the idiotic Fire Fox popup for updating. I have the option marked to allow NO popups. This does not apply to Firefox??

Need assistance for iphone update

The Firmware of my I phone3gs is 3.1.2. I have updated the itunes to the latest version9.0.3.15 I want to update my phone to 3.1.3. But when download finised, a window proped up "The Iphone " "could not be updated,because the firmware was corrupt. Disconnect and reconnect and try again". I have tried many ways and many times, but all don't work. I desperately need your help!!!

Which plugins are needed/ good for firefox?

I have several plugins listed that are followed by (?Research) what does this mean?

Can you guide me on how to change it to adobe reader as the default. I can't figure out where this option is.

If updating isn't working then do a clean reinstall.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Update to Firefox 4 has frozen. Computer still indicates CPU and memory usuage but it never finishes. Previous Firefox no longer works. Upon restart and clicking Firefox, updater just goes into same frozen state. Updater appears to be defective.

CPU usuage is at 13%, memory for Firefox updater is 28,348K. Have tried shutting down and restarting. Everything looks normal except that the start menu shows Firefox twice. At this point there is no CPU usuage and Firefox is not running. Clicking on Firefox seems to start up the updater (same CPU and memory as during original update), but there is no window. Only taskmanager indicates anything is running. The other Firefox icon in the start menu has no effect other than to list Firefox twice in the taskmanager, but the new one has no CPU or memory.

Ive downgraded from FF4 to 3.6 at this point. The CPU usage is out of control on OS X.

This was not a Firefox update, but a piece of malicious software you have inadvertently downloaded from a site called http://ffftp.co.cc/ which is impersonating Firefox. I discovered this as soon as my Zonealarm requested permission for "Golds" to access the internet. Golds??!! However I couldn't find a file with this name installed on my computer.
You should delete the file you downloaded and certainly do not allow internet access to any suspicious program. If you have already given permission, scan your PC immediately for any virus, malware, etc. Best of luck.
