Need precision on dynamically allocated objects

Hi all,
For example, I declare this class :
package Global
public class GV
public static var gLogin:String="123";
public static var gPassword:String="4567";
public function test(t:int):int {
return t+1;
Flex lets me use my class this way to access a static member
import Global.*;
GV.gLogin='XXX';
In this case, a GV object is dynamically allocated and the
static member is set.
Now I want to call the test method using the same dyn alloc :
import Global.*;
GV.test(123);
Flex gives me a "Unknown method" error.
So this is my question : Why can I access a static member but
not a method on a dyn alloc object ? Is there a way to do this ?
Thank you for your help :-)
MiF

Shame on me !
I did not know that a function could be static.
Thank you for your help Simon.

• Master-detail with dynamic view object

How can you create a view link with a view object that is dynamic? I have created a master-detail relationship on a UIX page. I change the master view object at runtime using a view definition and SQL and then I bind the view object to an iterator on a UIX page. I need the new dynamic view object to maintain the link between the detail view object. Is this possible?
The reason why I have to change the view object at runtime is because I am implementing a search module and the tables in the from clause can be modified at runtime so I need to have a dynamic view object.
Thanks,
Sanjay

After playing around with ViewObjectImpl's setQuery() method some more I found out that this solution might not work for me due to the following reason: when the user tries to sort a column in the result table, the original contents of the view object get executed instead of the run time query.

I would like to go back to my original solution that included creating a view definition based on the runtime query and then creating a view object from that which I bind to the RowSetIterator. The missing piece to the master-detail functionality is with the detail Iterator being in sync with the master. I have tried the following but I get a ClassCastException

DCIteratorBinding detailBinding = ctx.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("DetailIterator");
detailBinding.getViewObject().setMasterRowSetIterator(masterBinding.getRowSetIterator());

• How to create dynamic View Object and Dynamic Table

Dear ll
I want to create a dynamic view object and display the output in a dynamic table on the page.
I am using Jdeveloper 12c "Studio Edition Version 12.1.2.0.0"
This what I did:
1- I created a read only view object with this query "Select sysdate from dual"
2- I added this View object to the application module
3- I created a new method that change the query of this View object at runtime
public void changeVoQuery(String dbViewName) {
String sqlstm = "Select * From " + dbViewName;
ViewObject dynamicVo = this.findViewObject("DynamicVo");
if (dynamicVo != null) {
dynamicVo.remove();
dynamicVo = this.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicVo", sqlstm);
dynamicVo.executeQuery();
4- I run the application module for testing the method and I passed "Scott.Emp" as a parameter and the result was Success
5- Now I want to show the result of the view on the page, so I draged and dropped the method from the data control as a parameter form
6- I dragged and dropped the view Object "DynamicVo" as a table and I choose "generate Column Dynamically at runtime". This is the page source

• Creating and Accessing a Dynamic View Object

Hi,
I'm needing to create a Dynamic View Object so to have the ability to modify the FROM and WHERE clauses in an SQL statement.
I then need to view all the columns and rows in an adf table or something similar.
I've read up a fair bit on similar situations, however I'm struggling with the basic framework of building the View Object.
I know I'm wanting to use ..createViewObjectFromQueryStmt..but just unsure of the syntax in using it, especially connecting the VO to an Application Module.
This is similar to what I've got now, located in AppModuleImpl.java
public void createDynVO(ApplicationModule appMod, String FROMclause, String WHEREclause){
String SQL = "SELECT JOURNAL_NAME, PERIOD_NAME FROM " + FROMclause + " " + WHEREclause;
ViewObject vo = appMod.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView", SQL);
vo.executeQuery();But how does it know what the application module is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-Chris

Ok, I've actually modified my approach to this.
I've created a View Object in the design view, added it to the App Module, and then created an iterator and bound an adf table to that iterator.
The View Object which I created has the same column names as what I am going to be getting later down the track.
Everything is working perfectly, except that I can't seem to bind variables to the WHERE clause.
Below is what I have got running:
public void recreateDynView(String FromClause, String whereCompany, String whereDepartment) {
String sql_PAGE_ITEM1 = " AND PAGE_ITEM1 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM1";
String sql_PAGE_ITEM2 = " AND PAGE_ITEM2 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM2";
findViewObject("DynamicView1").remove();
String SQLStmt = "SELECT PAGE_ITEM1, PAGE_ITEM2, PAGE_ITEM3, LINE_ITEM FROM " + FromClause;
ViewObject vo = createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView1",SQLStmt);
vo.setWhereClause("1=1");
if (whereCompany != null && whereCompany.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM1);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",whereCompany);
if (whereDepartment != null && whereDepartment.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM2);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",whereDepartment);
vo.executeQuery();
}However whenever I input a value into one of the bound variables, I get the following error on the page.
1. JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.InvalidOperException, msg=JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.
2. JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.In the view object which i created at design stage, I've set the binding style to Oracle Named, so it should be alright. But obviously since I'm removing the view object and creating another version of it, it doesn't have the same binding style attached by default?
Is there a work around for this? I'm so close!

• ABAP OBJECTS: Dynamic Create object

Hi folks!
I have a problem... I need to create a dynamic type object with:
DATA: my_instance TYPE REF TO class1.
CREATE OBJECT my_instance TYPE (class2).
* where class1 is a superclass of class2.
When I do:
my_instance ?= m_parent.
* where m_parent is an instance of class1
My problem is when I want to access to an attribute of the class2, the compiler says that it cannot find the attribute (this is OK, because the attribute is only in the class2).
My question:
Is there anyway to access to an atribute of second class when is not in the first class? (i don't want to create the attribute as an attribute of the first class).
Thanx!!!!

Hi David,
When you do the debugging, you are dealing with run-time - i.e., the program is now running and you are just interrupting it at each statement to examine the program state. You will reach the point where the object is already created. That is why you can see all those attributes. But when you comiple, the program is not yet running, so the attributes will be unknown because of the dynamic type specification.
I think you will have to redesign the program logic. As i had already said in my earlier post, it is not proper to have the attributes specified statically while the class itself is specified dynamically.
Your situation is somewhat similar to -
DATA ITAB TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI.
PERFORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
FORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
LOOP AT ITAB.
WRITE: / ITAB-CARRID.
ENDLOOP.
ENDFORM.
Hope the point is clear.
Regards,
Anand Mandalika.

• Can I embed fonts of all Dynamic Text objects in a Flash file?

Hi there!
I'm fairly new to Flash, so please bear with me.
I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects. I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded. I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right. Having read the following documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Liv eDocs_Parts&file=00000893.html) I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time. However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step! The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.
I hope someone can help me. If you are able to help please spell things out in simple steps!! I am aware that I probably haven't yet grasped a number of the basics of Flash.
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Static text doesn't need to be embeded. So I'm not sure what the problem you are having is. The page you linked to is for making an embedded font in your library that can then be exported for actionscript and used by code and style sheets. If you are following the instructions on the page you liked to you only need to do that once. Which shouldn't be too hard.
That is usually a different problem that having a bunch of different authortime created textfields that need to have characters embedded.
As far as I know your only hope to change a bunch of authortime/library items is using JSFL. So even if the thing I pointed to isn't exactly what you need you could keep googling a bit or use that as a template.
JSFL files are just text files so open it in note pad. Look for the line:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip")
and change it to this:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip" || it[i].itemType=="button")
Now it does buttons. You give up too easy.

• Dynamic value objects in flex and coldfusion 9

I'm writing a program for a company that does registrations for conventions and trade-shows. The problem I'm having is that each different client wants to store different data for each show. Most of the data is the same (attendee's name, address, etc...), but each show has some customizations that it wants to have... So each database for each show is going to be different...
Right now, the only way I know how to transfer data from Flex to ColdFusion is via a Value Object. (Well, the only good way to do it, that is.) My problem comes when a client wants a particular database customized. I have MANY questions about this...
1) How do I tell my Value Object what fields we've added to or changed in the database without re-writing the entire VO (in both the .AS and .CFC files) and re-compiling my program? In other words, I need a dynamic VO that changes automatcially with the database.
2) If there is a way to dynamically create a VO in Flex (and from a few blog posts I've seen, it seems there is a way), how do I tell CF9 what the structure of that dynamically-created VO is? Without re-writing a bunch of .CFC files every time I add or change a field in the database, that is...
3) How do I reference the dynamically-created fields in my Flex program? Right now, for example, I can define a variable called attendeeInfo as type attendeeInfoVO, and then reference things like attendeeInfo.first_name, attendeeInfo.last_name, etc... How do I reference a field programmatcially when I don't know what it's going to be called beforehand?
4) How do I make my program display/modify those dynamically-created fields? Right now, using the attendeeInfo example above, I can create a TextInput with an id="firstNameInput" and just say firstNameInput.text = "{attendeeInfo.first_name}". That won't work when I have no clue how many dynamically-created fields there are, or even what kind of data they're going to store... How do I deal with this?
5) Is there something other than VOs that would fit this situation better? Am I limiting myself by using VOs in the first place? Is it just plain impossible to do this with VOs? And if so, what are my alternatives? I need a structured object that can be passed around with a single reference -- I absolutely DO NOT want to pass a bunch of references to a bunch of different variables -- that's why I used VOs from the very beginning.
6) Can I simply PAY someone at Adobe for one-on-one help here? Do they have experts that you can "buy" for a few hours? What's the charge for that, if such a thing is available? Or, is this problem well-explained somewhere on the Web, and I just haven't found it yet?
I'm very confused here, and it seems like I might have to re-write a ton of code, which I'm not looking forward to... Ugh... I appreciate any help you can give me...
Thanks,
Laurence MacNeill

This blog post is pretty close to what I want:
http://justinjmoses.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/flex-dynamic-bindable-value-objects/
So there are the dynamic value objects I was looking for. But the blog-poster is using LINQ and .Net 3.5. I'm using ColdFusion9.
So, how do I get ColdFusion9 to deal with that? How do you get CF9 to recognize the fact that you've changed the VO, and deal with it appropriately?
Thanks,
L.

• Finding existing allocated object ID numbers in OID & OVD

Is there any way to find the object IDs that are already used in OID and OVD?
I need to create some new attributes - so I'll need to assign new object IDs to these attributes - and I want these to continue on from IDs that have previously been assigned (and obviously, be different numbers).
I can see that I can use the Oracle Directory Services Manager to find the Object ID for each individual attribute we already have set up by clicking on each individual attribute in the Schema tab, but given that we have a couple of thousand attributes, that's not very practical.
Is there some other way to view to allocated Object IDs via the DSM, or some query I can run on the OID & OVD databases?
Thanks

Actually, the fact that it's a string works for me here,
since my custom formatter expects a string.
That's the one last thing I'm confused about. Following the
example I got from a book, I made my formatter. And it was the
place I got the "myNumber" thing. So how would I modify my
FractionFormatter.as to eliminated the need to pass the string from
the main file (if I understand correctly):
package myComponents
//Import base Formatter class
import mx.formatters.Formatter
public class FractionFormatter extends Formatter {
// Declare the variable to hold the pattern string.
public var myNumber:String;
// Constructor
public function FractionFormatter() {
// Call base class constructor.
super();
// Override format().
override public function format(value:Object):String {
//Validate value - it must be a nonzero length string.
if(value.length == 0) {
// Return empty string and error message for zero-length
string.
error="Zero Length String";
return ""
//If the value is valid, format the string.
switch (myNumber) {
case ".25" :
return "1/4";
break;
case ".5":
return "1/2";
break;
case ".75":
return "3/4";
break;
case "1":
return "1";
break;
case "1.25":
return "1 1/4";
break;
default :
// If formatString is not "upper" or "lower",
// return empty string and set the error message.
error="Invalid Format String";
return "";
}

• For dynamically allocated double arrays, sizeof() does not work

For a typical double array, if you need to get the size, you would use
numElems=(sizeof(myArray)/sizeof(myArray[0]));
However, for dynamically allocated double arrays (see here for example) this no longer works.
For the example above, sizeof(myArray) returns 4, and sizeof(myArray[0]) returns 8.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

That's because sizeof(myArray) is the size of the pointer to the dynamically allocated array.
sizeof(myArray[0]) is the size of a double (8 bytes).
If you know the size you malloc'd then just use this instead of the sizeof(myArray) function.
Array size (for use in bounds checking for example) is a compile-time thing in C89 (though CVI will hack in run-time bounds checking for you in a debug compile). So even if you cast a malloc'd buffer pointer to an array type, the compiler's out of the picture at run time when the buffer gets established to a (potentially) run-time determined size, so it can't help you. More modern languages (e.g. Java, C#) all get around this problem. C99 allows variable length arrays to be declared but I'm not sure NI implemented this in their C99 upgrades.

• Need precision upto neno seconds....

Need precision upto neno seconds, any pointers??
Thanx in advance
Omer

You will have to resort to JNI to get that in an OS-specific way - most OS's can do that.
That said, it is important to remember that given garbage collection, the inherent multithreading of Java, pauses to JIT (in HotSpot) etc. it is not possible to make meaningful measurements at that precision. If you are careful, such measurements may make sense in carefully crafted code that avoids memory allocations and in the presence of no other runnable threads. But that is rarely always the case.

• Freeing dynamically allocated memory

How do I free UCB dynically allocated memory at exit time? Have startup block calling allocation UCB.
Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
It depends on which function interface you are using for the UCB. There are two function interfaces. One is for use with SystemBuild only (sysbld\src\usr01.c) and makes more information available about the simulation. The other is the interface that allows you to use the same UCB for both SystemBuild and AutoCode (case\acc\src\sa_user.c).
If you are using the SystemBuild only version then there is a IINFO array that is passed to the UCB with mode information. One of the modes is LAST, which is called when the simulation is done. You can look for this mode and perform any clean up during that call. One thing with this approach is that LAST does not always get called, such as when a Interactive Simulation is aborted in the middle of a run or when a simulation is stopped in the middle by the Stop block. In those cases you would need to rely on the next approach.
When using the SystemBuild and Autocode version then you can not detect the end. However the simulation runs in its own process (simexe.exe) and so when the process is terminated any dynamically allocated memory is cleaned up. After a simulation is done simexe will remain in memory so that it can be called again if a new simulation is done with out changing the model. There are two ways to terminate the simexe process, one being to quit xmath and the other to run the command 'undefine simexe' in xmath. To make things even cleaner during the INIT mode you can check the pointers. If they are valid you can continue to use them, or free and reallocate them. If they are not valid then you can allocate the necessary memory.
For more information about UCBs and modes see the SystemBuild Users Guide chapter 14, and AutoCode Rerference Manual Chapter 2 (section UserCode Blocks).

• Dynamic view object

Hello,
I need to have a view object which should work for both parameterized and non parameterized. It works fine with parameterized using setWhereClauseParam, but in the case of returning all items, can I use the same view object?
Thanks,
Setareh

hi Setareh;
the parameterized view object is build on the concept of preparedStatement, so you can't execute the view object untell you pass the parameter. one way to avoid is to override the existing whereclause to ViewObject.setWhereClause("1=1").
other solution is to make the view object in runtime.
String sqlstr = "select empno,ename from emp where deptno=" + 10;
ViewObject temp = applicationModule1.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("newViewObject",sqlstr );

• Dynamic view object loses bind variables after passivation

I am creating a view object definition/view object programmatically in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0. The query requires a named bind parameter. All was working fine but now I am testing with app module pooling disabled and the bind variable is not being restored after passivation -- it's like the definition has disappeared or something.
Here is my VO creation code:
ViewObject vo = findViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO");
if (vo != null){
vo.remove();
ViewDefImpl voDef = new ViewDefImpl("FinalistsWithEvalDataVODef");
// I add a bunch of viewAttrs here...
voDef.setQuery(fullQuery);
voDef.setFullSql(true);
voDef.setBindingStyle(SQLBuilder.BINDING_STYLE_ORACLE_NAME);
voDef.resolveDefObject();
voDef.registerDefObject();
vo = createViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO", voDef);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", null, new int[] {0});
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", new Number(1)); //For testing
vo.executeQuery();
The query executes fine right there and then the VO seems to passivate fine. I even see the bind var in passivation:
<exArgs count="1">
<arg name="Bind_SchlrAyId" type="oracle.jbo.domain.Number">
1
</arg>
</exArgs>
But then when it reactivates prior to rendering the page, it invariably throws a missing parameter exception and this in the log:
<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7409] *** createViewAttributeDefImpls: oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatementWrapper@1af78e1

<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7412] java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
I have worked on this for hours and can't see anything wrong. Like I said, it works fine when not forcing passivation...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
-Ed

@Jobinesh - Thanks for the suggestions. I have read all the documentation I can find. Everything works fine without passivation. Everything still breaks with passivation. I have given up on trying to get the bind variable to restore after passivation and am currently just building the query with all values embedded in the query rather than bind variables. This is bad practice but avoids the problem. However, now that I avoided that obstacle, I'm on to the next issue with passivation of this dynamic view object, which is that the current row primary key apparently cannot be reset after activation. I get the following error:
<Key><parseBytes> [7244] Key(String, AttributeDef[]): Invalid Key String found. AttributeCount:1 does not match Key attributes

• Get bind variables of a dynamic view object

I seem unable to retrieve the bind variables for a dynamically created view object, even though I can do the same thing for a regular view object.
Here is the code:
newVO = repServ.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("newQry",strSql);
VariableValueManager vvm = newVO.ensureVariableManager();
if (vvm != null)
Variable vars[] = vvm.getVariables();
vars will be empty, even though the sql statement in strSql has bind variables in it.
Is there any way to determine the bind variables of a dynamic view object?
Thanks!

I got the same problem as yours and still could not find any way out.
However, as I can see, you wanted to get VariableValueManager of newly created ViewObject that may be not available at this moment.
If you find way to solve the problem, please help.

• Paging issues using a dynamic view object...

I am working on an application that uses JAG to generate JSP pages, i had the requirement to use dynamic view objects where the view object query is generated at runtime. The rest of the application is more or less the same... I used the defult functionality provided by TableScrollButtons.jsp file for paging. Now the problem im facing is that while the '>' and '<' buttons are working fine, i cant seem to navigate to the pages using the drop down...
With the default handler, whenever i select the range the range displayed remains the same ie 1-10, 10 being the rangesize, but the rows are refreshed with values from the next page. Also, if the next page is the last and is incomplete, then the rows are pushed in from the bottom, so that the last page is always full...I tried the tuning panel in the view object edit dialogue and all settings are fine (i think)...could anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong??

could it be because i am using a dynamic view object with dynamic bindings? i am using the preparemodel() method in the action as follows...
protected void prepareModel(DataActionContext ctx) throws Exception {
inferRangeBindingIfUnset(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(false);
String sql = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("sql");
String cost=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("CostCostCent");
String event=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("event");
if (sql != null && event == null) {
setupDynamicQueryAndDynamicBindings(ctx,sql.substring(1),cost);
if (retrieveOnlyCurrentPageFromDatabase()) {
ViewObject vo = getIterForPaging(ctx).getViewObject();
if (vo.getAccessMode() != ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING) {
vo.setAccessMode(ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING);
// if(event==null)
super.prepareModel(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(true);
if (ctx.getEvents() == null || ctx.getEvents().size() ==0) {
setPage(ctx,1);
setLastPage(ctx,getIterForPaging(ctx).getRowSetIterator().getEstimatedRangePageCount());
else if(event.equals("setRangeStart")) {
setPageFromRequest(ctx);
}
