Need Quicktime Pro to save a Windows Mediaplayer video in Quicktime format?

I can't open videos from a FlipVideo Mino Model F360 (MPeg4 standard def.)with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 video editing software. Videos from my Canon EOS Rebel XSi work fine. I'm told it should work if files are saved in Quicktime format. I can't seem to do that unless I buy the Quicktime Pro version for $30. Annoying! Will it work? Is there some other problem here? I get sound but no picture now.

Just move your playhead to the frame you want exported.
go to:
File --> Export
Choose "Movie to picture" as your export option near the bottom of the window
Now you can click on the options button right next to it and choose your desired export format.

  • Quicktime Pro 7.7 for Windows 7 mp4 data cap

I work for the video department of a magazine publishing company. At work, we use Macs and Quicktime Pro 7.7. We use Quicktime to export our files from .movs to .mp4s using the H.264 video format.
Unfortunately at home, I am stuck with a PC and Windows 7 (purchased before I converted). I bought Quicktime Pro 7.7 for Windows yesterday for converting my files to .mp4s. Unfortunately, I found that the Windows 7 version caps the data rate at 32768kb/sec.
As seen elsewhere online, some clients ask for a data rate of 35000 or even higher, and Quicktime Pro accomodates this on Macs. Is there any way to get around this cap with Quicktime Pro for Windows?
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Quicktime Pro won't let me download video

I've just upgraded Quicktime to Quicktime Pro so that I can download video from my Canon digital camcorder for use with Logger Pro for my physics classes.
Quicktime now shows several options that weren't available with just the player, but it does not show the option to open a "New Video Recording" as the online help file says it should. I have my camcorder connected to my pc by firewire and it works fine to download video to my computer with Windows Movie Maker.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Deanna in OR

QuickTime Pro for Windows does not allow "New Video Recording". Audio files only.
New video recording is only a feature of the Mac version of the Pro upgrade.
Use Movie Maker to create your files and convert them to QuickTIme formats using the Pro upgrade.

your new lion-machine should have quicktime 7, too. if it doesn't, and if it doesn't show up after you migrated your stuff from you old machine you can always reinstall it from the logic dvd's, it's part of logic. my recommendation is to always use quicktime 7, since it's got many features that are absent in quicktime x. quicktime x is nothing but a polished video player. in quicktime 7 (pro, comes with logic) you can even do edits and paste your music onto video files. i use it all the time, especially since logic 64bit doesn't export to video anymore.

  • Why do I need QT Pro to save movies

I changed something in my preferences in conjunction with Flip4Mac while downloading a file. Now I have different pop down menu's and I can't save anything. I don't remember need to have QT Pro in the past to simply save a file?
    Any ideas.
    QT 7.3.0

It really depends on how the QuickTime browser plug-in is used (or not) as to whether you can save copies of Web based files.
If the link to the QuickTime content is "direct" then the browser plugin displays the content in a new browser window. You can then save the file without using QuickTime Pro because the browser is saving the file and not the QuickTime browser plug-in.
You can also copy/paste that direct link in the Safari Downloads window to keep a local copy of the file.
QuickTime Pro is required to save files that are not a direct link but some authors can change that by using the special html code kioskmode="true" which, again, disables Pro users from seeing the save as dialog.
At the far right of the QuickTime controller is a downward pointing arrow. A Pro user can click on this arrow and a contextual menu will appear to allow saving.

  • Will QuickTime Pro Decoders work in Windows Media Player?

I am working on a Notebook/Laptop with Windows XP Home. This machine does not play DVDs in Windows Media Player. I am considering upgrading to Quicktime Pro for all of its functions. I was just wondering if this would fix Windows Media Player too?
    Thanks...

I was just wondering if this would fix Windows Media Player too?
Probably not. QuickTime Pro doesn't include a DVD decoder anyway; if you want to play unprotected DVDs in QuickTime, you need the MPEG-2 playback component, which is completely separate from and not part of QuickTime Pro. Protected DVDs require a dedicated DVD player application.

  • Unable to find rotate controls in Quicktime Pro 7.6 for Windows

I have a number of Quicktime movies that I have taken with my digital camera. A number of them have been shot in portrait orientation instead of landscape so I bought Quicktime Pro in order to rotate them. Unfortunately I cannot find the controls to do so. I have followed the instructions in the manual:
To resize or rotate a QuickTime movie:
1 In QuickTime Player, choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
2 In the Properties window, select a video track and click Visual Settings.
3 To resize the movie, type new numbers in the Current Size fields.
To keep the same height-to-width proportions, select Preserve Aspect Ratio.
4 To rotate the movie, click one of the rotate buttons.
but when I open the Show Movie Properties window and select a video track there is no "Visual Settings" box to select and so I cannot access the resize or rotate controls.
    Any advice anyone?

It's okay I've found them now.
If anyone else has this problem, you have to select the row at the top of properties that says "video track" rather than the one with the filename in order to get the visual settings tab and make sure that you have the box to the left of the row checked otherwise you won't be able to see the results.

  • Quicktime Pro wont save video in rotated version, reverts to original.

Despite following all the steps to rotate a video saved from iphone 4 it won't save its new version (PC) ..have clicked save as , re-named file and it will save as a new file but it is still upside down in the thembnail and if you open it with any other media player (e.g) VLC it plays upside down again ...the strange thing is all upside down videos appear fine when Quicktime opens them but the thumbnails  and any other media format /player, recognise them as upside down ...HELP /explanations please

By export it work properly, but we lost main advantage QT,- speed. It one reason for me only for using QT as the editor... I have 264codec in .mov files from my camera. If I split them, merge, add music and text, that all need for home video. QT to make that operations in some seconds... But export proceed some hours!!
The export is only required if you are making changes like display rotation AND viewing the results in a non-QT media player like VLC. If you will be viewing the results in the QT media player only, then the quicker "Save"/"Save As..." option should play correctly.
May be you know as to accelerate export?
Export speed depends on the the settings used and the hardware involved. Using a newer, faster platform or using a hardware accelerator like the Turbo.264 HD is usually the easiest way to improve conversion speed.
That problem is valid not only for ROTATE, but for added MUSIC and TEXT  too.
Not sure about your problem here but this may be a problem with a straight "Save"/"Save As..." option not flattening track content. For instance, if you merge/add multiple audio tracks and then view the results in a media player or on a device that only plays one track at a time, then only the default track will be heard. (I.e., unlike the QT player which plays all "active" tracks in a file simultaneously.) On the other hand, the export flattens (combines) all of the audio tracks to a single audio track which then plays correctly in such software and on such devices.

  • Error when trying to save still image from video with Quicktime Pro

I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.

  • How to enter QuickTime Pro registration key in Windows 7?

I purchased a registration key for QuickTime Pro, but I'm not sure where to enter it on my Windows 7 machine. I have found these directions:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/unlock-win7.html
But that's for another version of Windows (XP? Vista?). Windows 7 Control Panel doesn't look like that, and I'm not sure where I can access the QuickTime 7 Control Panel to enter the registration key. Any advice?

    You're welcome.
Wish Apple would update their website to include these instructions for Windows 7 users...
It is possible to report issues like that directly to Apple. (The challenge with that, though, is first finding the feedback forms ...)
In this instance, probably the best ones to use might be the Support feedback form:
    http://www.apple.com/support/feedback/
... or the overall Apple.com feedback form:

  • Can anyone tell me if Quicktime Pro retains aspect ratio once a video is rotated?

I'm reluctant to purchase Quicktime Pro until I know the answer to this question and Apple Support doesn't seem to have anyway to ask, so I thought I'd try this group.
I took some videos with my iPhone (the long way), and need to be able to rotate them and convert them to avi files.  I understand that Quicktime Pro can do the rotation and conversion, but I saw one review that said the aspect ratio is not retained, i.e. the video comes out flattend (wider).
Can anyone tell me if this is still true with QT Pro, or if there are other solutions for resolving this outside of QT Pro??  I have tried a number of other converters, and found one that rotates, but aspect ratio not retained.
Thanks in advance for any help shared!!!

This may or may not depend on your specific work flow. Many "settings' saved to the original file by QT 7 Pro are merely "playback instructions" which may or may not play correctly in other media players while these same settings do work properly when saved/converted to a new file container. In addition, not being a Windows user, I don't know if there are are any significant differences between the Mac and Windows versions of QT 7. In any case, I just took a short sample clip, stored it on my hard drive via Aperture 3, opened the file in QT 7 Pro, rotated the clip in QT 7 Pro, and used the "Save As..." command to store the modified file. This modified file now plays correctly in current versions of the QT 7, MPEG Streamclip, and VLC media players. Have uploaded a copy of this file so you can download it, test playback in various players you normally use, and/or test convert it to your specific AVI audio and video compression formats.

As indicated above, the file plays correctly for me in various media players and all media "Inspector" windows, including other third party media information utilities, confirm the correct dimensions and aspect ratio as displayed. As to AVI conversion, I test converted the uploaded file to AVI (DivX5/MP3) at original dimensions using VisualHub. (Also tried the VideoMonkey AVI encode but it limited the source 720p file to a 720x480 output and I did not know if you were agreeable to such a restriction.) Suggest you run similar tests with your preferred Windows converters to confirm/refute results on your system.

  • Quicktime Pro - Watermark disappears when I upload video

I am using Quicktime Pro to edit videos. I added a watermark using a Word text watermark. I can add the watermark to the movie and save it. When I play it back in Quicktime the watermark is visible.
When I upload the video the watermark disappears. I uploaded it to Youtube, Wordpress Videopress and a couple of Wordpress plugins that upload video and for each there is no watermark on the video.
    I am using Windows Vista.
Is there any way to ensure that the watermark stays on when I upload the video?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Most of the places you upload videos "convert" your QuickTime format to Flash video. They "throw out" the extra track that holds your watermark.
The only method I can suggest it to add your watermark and then "export" again. This will "burn in" the watermark image track into a single video track.

  • HT3678 I have 10.7.4 Mac OS - just paid $32 for Quicktime Pro so I can convert a video file format got authorization code but cant figure how to find Quicktime let alone activate - HELP!

Just paid $32 for Quicktime Pro so I can convert a .MOV video file format to another format - cant figure out where Quicktime is and how to activate it to Pro
Is it the Quicktime player 7?

I did this and copied EXACTLY my name and the activation code sent in the receipt - says invalid
    I am under a deadine for a presentation in 8 hours -
My problem is thet a person made a montage from photos and saved it as .MOV file format and the presentation is going to be made on a flat screen TV from a USB mem card or thumb drive -
first problem was card was FAT32 formatted - and I think I understand that for a 5GB file size that ExFAT is required and XP with patches or Windows 7 and Mac OS read this format so not a problem to format USB to be ExFAT - but the TV needs AVI or a MPx format
    suggestions???
    Thanks in advance

  • Quicktime Pro won't play my .avi videos

I got a bunch of .avi videos, they are encoded using xvid codec. They play fine in media player but don't play at all in Quicktime. What codecs do I need for Quicktime Pro 7?

You need a codec that plays the compression a particular avi is encoded in. You can try these two sites for codecs that play most recent avi files

  • Can Quicktime Pro version 7 import the WMV video files?

With my previous Quicktime Pro version 6, I couldn't import the .wmv files. Is there any enhancement on Quicktime Pro version 7 to support .wmv files import?

QT 7 still doesn't import .wmv files. There are some plug-ins for Mac systems but so far no one has mentioned any for Windows. Since sometimes people with Macs post in this group (and you don't list your platform in your message) I will include a link to one of the companies that makes such plug-ins for Mac:
