Need Recomendations - Car Audio - Outputs needed Front LR, Rear LR, Subwoofer
I am replacing an old Alpine system in my Motorhome. I have to have separate outputs for
Front 4 speakers Left/Right
Rear 2 speakers Left/Right
and a separate subwoofer.
also Bluetooth and USB support (IPod)
Recomendations appreciated.

4 channel amp
Deck for the rear 2 speakers (unless you want them amplifed further)
Mono channel amplifier for the subwoofer
the deck will be your own thing to look at just make sure you find one that has BT "built in" not "ready" all BT models will have a front or back usb so you are good there. alpine still makes solid units. make sure your head-unit has 3 preouts for yourself, and you will lose a fader and balance if you are splitting any kind of signal. good luck

Asrock ION330/Nvidia HDMI - No audio output
Machine was running archlinux and not been upgraded in over 6mths but HDMI audio worked fine. Decided to do a scratch build since all the changes in that time and have a nice clean system.
If it helps, this is what I install. Ssed this exact same install process for another Asrock ION330 and Acer Revo3610 (both same hardware) but neither use HDMI at all. Both VGA with either optical or analog audio. Both work with no additional config.
pacman -Sy nfs-utils screen ntp alsa-utils mlocate xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils mesa nvidia ttf-dejavu xfce4 gamin slim mythtv unrar lirc xbmc wget
Get no sound output but also zero errors on any of the following commands. I should add that the receiver does not detect any audio coming in, ie it usually identifies how many channels of audio and type it is receiving.

Tried a couple different things either from the wiki or google searching, individually with a reboot between but no change.

FWIW, I even tried changing the HDMI cable, turning the amp on before or after the PC etc. No change.

Audio output device deleted in error from hp mini 110-3500 need to download an reinstall
I accidentally deleted the prgram via the control panel uninstall. Need to download an reinstall same.

Desperate needing help with HP Pavilion DV7-1450us HDMI audio output
I have tried a lot of different things to get audio output to my tv with no luck. I get video output fine. I notice when right-clicking the speaker on my taskbar there is no option to enable HDMI audio output any help is greatly appreciated as we are waiting to watch a movie <_< thanks.

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your AMD Graphics Driver package as this will also reinstall the AMD HDMI Audio driver- the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

HOW TO: HDMI Audio Output for Zotac Media Box with nVidia ION :)
I've been fighting with my recently purchased Zotac mini-PC for about 2 months now trying to get the HDMI audio output to work. I tried extensive modifications of /etc/asound.conf, different versions of ALSA, and even OSS without success. I've finally succeeded using ALSA and GNOME.
First I installed ALSA according to the Arch wiki.
Next I verified that ALSA detected my sound card(s):
cat /proc/asound/cards

From these two commands, I concluded that I have 2 sound cards (important later on) and that my HDMI sound card was card 1 (NVidia) and that it had 4 possible devices (3,7,8, and 9). To determine which device must be used, I ran the following command for each device (for example, to test card X and device Y, use' plughw:X,Y'):
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav -D plughw:1,7
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
I tried each device and got the best sound from device 7 (8 and 9 also worked, device 3 gave static...).
Now, since I had 2 sound cards, I needed to change the default ALSA device. My default ALSA device was card 0 (the Intel card), which wasn't plugged in, so I needed to change the default card to be card 1 (the HDMI card). After reading the ALSA FAQ, I found that modifying /usr/share/alsa.conf should work, though modifying /etc/asound.conf should have also worked. For whatever reason, I couldn't get my modifications to /etc/asound.conf to work, so I edited /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf. In the "# defaults" section I replaced the following:
defaults.ctl.card NVidia
defaults.pcm.card NVidia
defaults.pcm.device 7
I opted to use the key NVidia rather than the card number (1) since I've read in numerous places that the card index can change unexpectedly after a reboot/update. The key can be checked with cat /proc/asound/cards as shown above.
After this, I reloaded ALSA (/etc/rc.d/alsa restart) and verified that the sound worked through the default channel:
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav -D default
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
Finally, I rebooted, chose the HDA NVidia (ALSA Mixer) option from gnome-volume-control, and loaded a movie in gnome-mplayer. I was pleased to hear crystal clear sound with functioning volume control

The spec's say the phone must support BlueTooth Audio Output.

Its the new bluetooth stacks driver that was included with the new OS, if your stereo is a older model it does not have the supported drivers to communicate to the device, this is common with upgrades, older hadware has to be updated in order to add the support needed for the newer hardware, its like placing a 50 inch tv on a vga video card that only supports 800x600 resolutions, it may work but wont function correctly....
Your stereo should be able to use the handsfree connection from the device but all addition options wont function because of hardware limits. -
itunes 11.1.3.8 shows a speaker icon in front of the seclection but it is not playing. the progress bar does not move. there are speakers attached to the system and all other programs do profuce an audio output.
Go to the Edit -> Preferences-> Playback
In The bottom section of the page click the drop down menu by Play Audio Using and select Windows Audio Session or something other than "Direct sound" or whatever it displays. Click Okay. This worked for me! I hope it works for you too!

MBP 2011 running Lion.
Have been suffering on various front since I upgraded (in reality it feels like more of a downgrade) to Lion.
Latest and most annoying problem is the fact that the only audio output I have available is Digital out.
Great if I want plug into my home HiFi, not so good for just about the other 90% of the time I need to hear anything from my MBP.
Has anyone else had this issue and found a workaround?
I think the biggest question really is why would Apple launch a product soo in need of work?
Many thanks for any help with this issue.This problem actually has to do with more than waking-up issues. Sometimes the interface goes silent just when Logic is put in the background for awhile. Regarding the necessity for restarting-after-wake to keep things going, I can't recall ever having a problem similar to this since the days of OS9, and I work daily with Logic and many other audio apps. My firewire interfaces (Presonus and other) have been solidly reliable upon waking.

No Audio Out Of Headphone Or External Audio Output Jacks
We have a Rev. B Bondi iMac that I recently put in my wife's 4th grade classroom for her to use. When trying to hook up external speakers I discovered there is no audio output from the side audio output jack or the front two headphone jacks when listening to the CD player. (I also checked using headphones)
The internal speakers sound fine and normal. I do hear something very distorted and weak from the external audio output jacks but it is so distorted the only way I can tell it is coming from the CD player is by pausing its playing. I have been into OS X now for about 15 months and am starting to forget everything I knew of OS 8.6 which is in the Bondi.
I checked the sound portion of the Monitors and Sound Control panel and all seems set correctly. Is there some other setting that I have forgotten? Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Other than exercising the jack-ports with a plug from a headphone, it may need some expensive repair. However I do have a trick for you to try first.
Here is my trick;
Computer must be off! Because there is some light voltage applied to the ports they can slightly arch, spoiling the trick. Arching is the root cause of electrical resistance thus not allowing for proper contact and sound will not pass through to the device.
Next take a plug "softly and full travel" through each port in the side and on the front. I repeat them about 5 times. (any proper spec/type of plug, like from a headphone can work. If it from something that is powered, like from speakers, do not use it)
Boot up the computer and test by avoiding the side ports, using only the front ports. Quite frankly I found the use of the side ports to be somewhat the cause of the problem. Mine has been taped off for about 6 years now and I never have had to repeat my trick to date.
Give it a try and post back if there is any questions. Also, I would like to hear your results.

I too had a same problem, when I attached AUX IN pin of my car to my ipad it got stucked in it.I went to Apple Store, they were helpless and asked me to replace it with new one for 16000 INR.
What I did is, I took a refill of a pen and sharped its back so that it exactly sits into the gap. After thar I applied some pressure and pulled it out...I got the remaining part wich was stucked.

X-Fi Elite Pro: Which mode for best audio output?
I need your help in determining the best audio output (level and clarity). Up until now, I use the Entertainment mode (6bit/44.KHz) and the Audio Creation mode (in 96KHz, not sure at what bit depth this modes works though...). I need to find the best mode and in-mode settings to achieve maximum audio output level (in terms of dynamic range and dB level)as well as optimal sound clarity. For the latter, I believe that the sound should be unadulterated, so additional enhancements such as EAX, Crystalizer, CMSS etc should not be used...

My experience (and you know that listening to audio and the quality is objectionable), I listen through "Gaming Mode". This seems to be the best "playback sound quality" at least for my ears.
Additionally, I really don't care for digital output, its not my preference so I have the MAUDIO E66's connected through analog. Simple but seems to be effecti've in terms of listening and not tiring to the ears.

I setup my elite pro with the basic very "vanilla", but in the end, I do use the Crystalizer (set to "2"). I don't beli've in eqalization or very little, but the reality is unless you have a perfectly designed room acoustically, you will probobly benefit from some form of oversampling such as I stated. I would like others to chime in and share what operating systems they use. For best playback quality, I have found 2008 Server serves me well. But, motherboard, cpu, memory of course plays out as major hardware for consideration.
Anyway, I'm getting a bit off topic here - would really like to hear from Creative on this. What do they use in testing (mode, software, motherboard, cpu, memory). -
No Audio Output or Internal Speakers
Just this weekend my computer suddenly stopped emitting any sound. I can change the volume levels but there are no "chirping" sounds when I change it. I have no sound when I restart my computer, I fiddled with the audio output jack to see if it was the switch, but nothing happened.
My computer thinks it has sound. Sometimes when I try to have it make sound it will make a small pop sound. Other than that, nothing at all.I'm having the same sort of troubles. I checked the Sound pane in Preferences, and that fixed it once, where under Output it was set incorrectly.
But since then, I've been having trouble even doing that: It's stopped detecting if I have headphones plugged in, and says only "Internal Speakers". Under that, instead of controls, it says "The selected device has no output controls".
So what have I ended up doing? I noticed that AirPhones worked (software-based, forwards over wifi to your iPhone, sounds like a 96kbps MP3 at times) -- occasionally as what I assume is a side-effect of this problem, iTunes stops playing and stays at 0:00 even when the Play button changes to Pause -- So given that another sound option worked, I decided I'd plug in my Creative E-MU 0404 to use as an external sound card. And the sound is perfect.
I'd suggest anyone having troubles with their Mac's sound card to add a new one. Unfortunately, you'll need to skip any PCIe Creative sound cards, and even likely most of the X-Fi series, as the USB ones I looked at don't support Mac. The best thing to get, it looks like, is the Creative Xmod. It has Mac, Linux and Windows compatibility, and will work with a power adapter with any MP3 player. It will sound AMAZING, I promise. My dad has one, actually.
Those looking for excuses to use XLR mics or MIDI in Garageband, grab something like the Creative EMU 0404 if you're made of money (sigh) or if you have Firewire for extra XLR inputs, pay the extra. (It's worth it for the flexibility. I'd rather have 8 channels for 3 times the price than the 2 channels I have now. Live and learn.)
Of course, Creative isn't the only option out there, you can also take a look at M-Audio, or if you don't care about sound quality (I'm only assuming here), even Griffin iMic: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic -
Default audio output has switched
having only recently upgraded to tiger (yeah yeah i know i'm late) i have noticed that my internet browsers and also realplayer defaults to playing audio out of "built in audio" output and when i switch it back to my firewire 410 output it doesnt work.
is there some OS related pref that i need to alter to get my browsers to recognise my audio interface? i dont know for sure that it is moving to Tiger that has done this but it seems likely as it never did anything like that prior to the upgrade...
any ideas?thats the problem though, coz everytime i click it back to my firewire 410 in system prefs/sound/output i get no signal!
it only outputs from the default mac output, which means i either listen through that tiny speaker on the front, or have to run a mini jack out of that socket back into my desk.
the sound is awful though, really noisy and clipped. sounds like it was run through logics bitcrusher a couple of times.. -

There are several ways to connect any iPod (or MP3 player) to a car audio system. There are also many opinions on which works better than others. Here is my synopsis:
b Best Way:
Direct connection via the dock connector or headphone jack of the iPod, to the mini-jack input (or AUX RCA jacks) of your car stereo. Not many low/moderate-end cars have this feature yet, but it is becoming more popular. Some aftermarket auto stereo units have this feature. There are also some after-market, moderate to fairly expensive adaptors that hook into your existing car stereo that will provide a direct connection. Pretty slick, but can be pricey ($80-$300). If money is no object, a clean way to go. Not very portable from car to car if at all.

Connect your iPod to a cassette adaptor and play your tunes through your car's cassette player. In my opinion (via testing in my car using the accessories I have), it has better fidelity than FM transmitters. Some new cars no longer come with a cassette player, so it may not be an option. It will provide even better audio quality if you can run the audio feed out of the dock connector (see the SendStation link below). Can be portable between cars that have a cassette player and also be used in your home cassette system.
b Good:
Attach one of the many FM transmitter devices to your iPod and play the tunes through an unused FM station. Some noticeable degradation and distortion may be heard - depending on the quality of the transmitter, the sensitivity of your ears and the airwave congestion in your area. Portable between cars, and may be used in a home system (an iTrip or other self-powered unit). FM transmitters that need to be plugged into a DC auto jack may not work in a home environment (without some sort of adaptor).
b Marginal:
Attach an external speaker system to the iPod and play it in the car. Workable, but not too good - unless you spring for a $300+ Bose (or similar) system. But why? Only if your vehicle has no Stereo system, perhaps.

Whichever you choose, power the iPod through a DC adapter running from the car (separate, or as part of the audio adaptor). See the reviews for all the various accessories mentioned above and more, at the iLounge

I have read both positive and negative reviews of each method, and within method, there are great variations in performance of different manufacture's systems and peoples opinions of their performance. Some cassette adaptors work poorly, some better. I got lucky with my choices and have not had any big problems, yet...
BTW - I have a Belkin cassette adaptor and an iTrip Mini FM transmitter (as well as a Newer Technology RoadTrip!+). Using the same song in the same car, I found that the cassette adaptor worked significantly better for me than the FM transmitters.
I am now waiting for two (one for each car) Blitzsafe direct connection cables to arrive in the mail. -
Right now I have my Mini's audio output connected to my amp with a stereo mini jack. But as I understand it the audio out jack can also accept a digital (toslink) connector. There is surprisingly little documentation on exactly how this works or what cables are needed. Anyone care to enlighten me?

IPhone frozen/no brightness/white screen
