Need recomendation - best WIFI card?
Hey guys,
I have a question, I want to add my Power Mac to my network (wifi) at work. Currently it is the last one without wireless. But its kinda out of the way, which is the best wireless card? Should I just use the original Airport card that it takes or is there a different brand USB or PCI card for best reception? Dumb question, will a aftermarket make it work in " G " instead of " B "?
thanks
Here's some various wireless devices from OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/search/wireless
The original Airport card would work but it has b speeds.
The USB devices would work, but your Mac has USB 1.1 speed, so again it would be slow.
The best option is a PCI card.
Cheers, Tom

Hi, I'm in the market for a new wireless adapter and I was wondering if there was a general concensus on what "the best" network adapter was. What I mean is, what do most people consider the best supported, best working wireless card for Linux systems? Thanks.
P.s. no PCMCIA cards please, desktop doesn't have one of those
P.s.s. preferably USB, but it doesn't have to be, as I realize that most USB wifi cards aren't well supported.
P.s.s.s. I recently bought a Netgear WG111v2 but it's not working and I've looked all over and cannot get it to work, and to be honest I just want to get a new card and get it over with.P.s. no PCMCIA cards please, desktop doesn't have one of those
You looking for a wireless adapter for a Desktop?
You don't need package injection for like aircrack-ng?

What replacement wifi card do i need for iMac 21.5-inch EMC 2308 late 2009 model
Need to replace wifi card. For the life of me, I can't find the exact model # of wifi card I will need. Only that I need "AirPort Extreme (802.11g/n)," but when I search for that, I get all sorts of different shaped and sized cards that meet those specs.
I would try giving them a call at their support number. They may be able to help both identify the correct part and know where you can get a replacement. In addition, you may also want to consider getting a wireless USB adapter. You would use this instead of the internal card. There are a number of vendors providing these as well.

Pci wifi card do they work??
Im not fussed about using the airpost utilty, as long as it connects to the internet, but TBH i would rather something internal and well built unlike those terrible dongles, i recently installed a USB Pci card that has a internal USB port and my Usb dongle doesnt work on the internal one for some reason, so i would rather have an Pci instead, as to save internal slot for other uses
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,3
Processor Name: PowerPC G5 (2.2)
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.1.8f7
and ive found some on ebay that say they are mac compatible :S?? :

i suppose i could try it, and if it does not work, i could use it with my PC which is in need of a wifi card, but are there any recommended cards? -
I am traveling to India with my new iPad...to enable me to be online 24hrs a day to access my emails...do I just need a local sim card...also can I use a normal adaptor to plug in to charge or am I best paying for the apple universal kit....
If you have the AT&T 3G iPad then you can explore the SIM card. I'm not sure if India has the SIM network or another type. REgardless you should be able to access wifi.
HOnestly, if I were traveling I'd get a plug adapter from a normal retail store. You can get a good one for $20 or less at your local retailer, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, probably KMart though I've not looked for them there. Best Buy and the office supply stores may also have them. You don't have to pay for the official one unless you want to. (I have 'over the counter' plug adapters so if I traveled I'd use what I have not buy another) -
I spilled some red wine on my keyboard and i cannot connect to the internet any more. it says on the internet icon: Wi-fi: no harware installes. so i guess i need to get a new wifi card for my mac air. do i have to buy this from a apple store? i live fare away from an apple store. Also, I do have a macbook with software system:
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549). can I take out the wifi card from that mack and use that one for my mac air?Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Consider yourself lucky that your MacBook is still working. Now, turn it off. Wine may have damaged other parts of your computer.
Then, take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller. It will be a very expensive repair, as it's not covered by warranty and the logic board has to be replaced. In some cases, it may be better to get a new MacBook.
If you can't take it to an Apple Store, contact with Apple > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 -

I have found that wireless card with part number PA3212U-3MPCR is the right one for your notebook. The problem is that this card is IEEE 802.11b with 11Mbps data transfer rate.
I don`t know which one with standard g will fit to your notebook. The best solution is to contact service partner. I am pretty sure that they have this kind of information. -

T42 - T21 - Tecra 8200 all xpYour best bet would be to find a complete lid with integrated wireless from a T23, and add an internal card, Broadcom 4306 or 4309 (b/g and a/b/g respectively) have been proven to work well in these machines.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

For Bluetooth I use the Belkin mini bluetooth adapter and it works great is is very small.
If you want the actual Apple Internal bluetooth card.
For the WiFi I use the original Apple WiFi cards but even a USB one thats Mac compatible will work fine. -
Problems with build in wifi card in DV6-2190us.
Hi am trying to see if someone can help me out with a problem am having with my WIFI and also LAN on my laptop.
The problems am having is with connectivity and speed on WIFI and also problems connecting to a network with a Ethernet cable.
The problem am having with my wifi is when trying to connect to a network it takes me about 5 to 10 minutes just to try to connect to the network and once connected it will continue to say unidentified network and it will take 5 to 10 minutes to connect to the internet. Once connected to the network and the internet the connection will start fast and slow down to a crawl even do am 10 to 20 feet away from the wireless router and I have full bars. After the connection slows down I will get disconnected from the network and it will take me 10 to 20 minutes to get back on it.
Also when I try to connect to the network using a Ethernet cable I will get connected but if I unplug the cable and try to connected again I won't be able to connect to the network or the internet and I would have to restart the laptop with the cable plugged in.
All of the drivers on the laptop are up to date and also windows is up to date I really don't know what's going on.
I have formatted and installed Widows 7 done all of the updates I have also updated all of the drivers for the laptop but the problem continues to come up.
After talking to some of my IT friends we removed the build in wifi card from the inside of the laptop and changed it with a wifi card of a same model laptop to rule out problems with the card, but the problem continues to happen with the new card installed on the laptop. The card that came out of the laptop with the wifi problems was installed to the second laptop and the wifi problems came up but after installing the original wifi card the problems went away.
The thing that trying to figure out is why the card that came out of the working laptop won't work correctly on the laptop that's having problem with.
If anyone has any ideas on what maybe causing the problems please reply to this post I really need to have this problem fix before I start taking online classes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

AVG Pro 2012You are posting on an iMac forum. I'd recommend posting a MBA forum, however I think you best bet is taking it into your local Apple store or AASP to determine if the Wi-Fi adapter is damaged and if it is then checking to see what options you have.

I have a dv4-2180us and I want to change out the wifi card for one w/ bluetooth and 5G
Product name dv4-2180US. My wifi card is intel wifi link 1000 BGB, and I'd like to switch it out to an intel 6230 that has both. Is it possible to modify the BIOS? I have upgraded my BIOS to the most recent 55454 hoping that would correct the problems with the keyboard...which it has not...but I'm far more interested in making full use of my network., Thanks.
I can tell you that you need to make sure the form factor is the same on the new as the existing one.
The bios really has no bearing on it. Its hardware thats compatible with hardware.
Parts like that are not readily available to swap from machine to machine. There are standards for which the card interfaces to the machine and thats why I mentioned the form factor of the card.
Physical dimensions are also to be noted, as some cards are larger than others with the same form factor.
You really have to do your homework and research to see what will work.
Your machine may already have a slot availble for a bluetooth board, or fingerprint reader as those are both viable options.
You are not likely going to get bluetooth and wireless n on the same card anyways. I would suggest looking for a dual band wireless n card and seeing if you have another slot to put a blutooth module into.
Another option is to get a type 2 cardslot module and just insert it when you need it. If your machine has this type of external cardslot it may be your cheapest option. -

www.fredraimondi.comSell the Mac and spend the money in building yourself a PC with the best components you can find. You will have much more freedom of choice when it comes to hardware, especially in this case where you need the fastest CUDA card you can get. With a PC you can use any Nvidia based card in the market, while with Macs you're restrained to just a few outdated and hugely overpriced ones.
Granted, Mac towers are very good machines, and the OS is great, but CS6 relies heavily on CUDA cards, and Macs have very few CUDA options. A PC that you build yourself from the best components can be less expensive, stable and more powerful. -
In the iPod touch 5th generation can I put a wifi card like Vodafone wifi cards I put a wifi card in my iPad 3G and it works what about ipod ?
Wi-fi card?
The ipod has wi-fi bult in.
Why would you need a wi-fi card?
It sounds like you are talking about a SIM card, which has nothing at all to do with wi-fi. It is for cellular service from a wireless phone provider. If this is what you mean, then no. Ipods are not cell phones and cannot access cellular data.
