Also, does reinstallation takes the back up automatically or the files will be lost. Please help.

Here are a bunch of scripts to get folder size under all circumstances.  Take your pick.

  • Changing IP to Public IP needs reinstallation of 9iAS?

    Hi,
I'am running 9iAS on private IP or LAN. Now i have test the application deployed from the internet so i intend to put a public IP for the 9iAS system, if i do so can i make the server work with existing configurations?i mean for example my local private IP is 10.10.9.19 and i change it to a public IP say 215.200.9.4 or do i need to reinstall the application server software again?
I also heard that 9iAS does not support having a public and local IP at the same time is it true?
    Regards
    Mahesh

Depends on the version. You can now change the IP, see the admin guide located here on Technet. It describes the prerequisits as well as the procedure. Pretty straight forward.

  • Extendscript toolkit needs reinstallation after system restore

I installed extendscript toolkit (est) - but needed to do a system restore - now est is not installed, but my CC portal says it is - I need it, can't use it, what can I do?

Justfing please uninstall the affected Adobe application and reinstall.  System restores in general can cause all kinds of unexpected behavior.  It is best to only utilize a system restore prior to formatting and reinstalling your operating system.
If you continue to experience difficulties uninstalling the remains of your Adobe applications then please try utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find the details of it's use at CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html.

Karen have you reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable component of your operating system?  This component of your operating system is currently damaged and needs reinstallation.  You can download the current version from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Fails to install

I am trying to re-install Acrobat 9 Pro onto an iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo machine with 3 GB RAM. The computer is already running without any problem Acrobat 8 Pro but I want to install the new version.  I copy the files across to the Applications folder and then open the application, but it fails soon after launching.  I do not reach the point of getting to enter any information - it simply crashes every time.  I have tried to delete various preference files but to no avail.
A critical point is that the software was running successfully PRIOR to my having to reinstall the system software.  All the other software on the computer still works fine, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and (as I said) Acrobat 8 Pro.  I cannot find what is wrong but a colleague at work suggested I needed to delete all the files related to the previous installation of Acrobat 9 (prior to the system reinstall).  Trouble is it is difficult to identify what all these files are.  I have used the Uninstall application to remove the obvious files and then tried again to install the software to no avail.
I would appreciate some advice on how to solve this.  It is annoying having paid for the new version of the software only to find I cannot install it on the machine.  I am sure there is some left over file that was corrupted when my system software crashed and needed reinstallation, but I cannot identify what it (or they) is (are).
I have already spent probably close to 6 hours on this and it is driving me nuts.  HELP.
    Thanks,

Sorry - very slopy of me in the original post.  I am running 10.5.8.  The problems started when I had to downgrade from 10.6.  I was getting critical kernal panics 4-5 times a day (black screen of death) since installing 10.6 and I could not continue.  Numerous applications would simply crash for no reason.  Thje operating I had to reinstall was 10.5 and then I ran the updates to bring it uip to 10.5.8.
I have run all of the patches:  910, 911. 912 and 913 on the application and it still will not install.
I am installing a volume license version - you drag the entire folder across to the applications and the first time you launch the application it then runs the installation routine.  Mine is crashing soon after it starts.

  • I am receiving an error message when updating itunes - now won't load?

Somehow my Itunes update was interrupted a few days ago and now I am receiving an error message "Error 7 Windows 126" and MSVCR80.dll was not found and need reinstallation.   Thanks

    Try the following user tip:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates
Fo the reinstall, use a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website. (Delete any versions of the installer file that you currently have in your downloads areas.)

  • Acrobat X Standard from Dell (download)

I have a 3 month old Dell XPS 15 running win7 64 bit Home Premium. At time of purchase I had the option of having Acrobat X (& Distiller) pre installed. Now when purchasing this is £20 but when i purchased my XPS it was on offer for a limited period for free. I duly ticked the box. The system arrived but came damaged so was returned and replaced immediately.
The system came with the adobe software installed ok but i had some error messages when trying to update so decided to reinstall hence needed reinstallation media or a download.
I have since fixed the update but still want the installer in case of future problems. I have searched the forum and read other posts here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/823236 and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4661222#4661222 and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4451504#4451504
Dell failed to include any licence number with my replacement system nor any reinstallation media. I registered the software with my adobe ID and in my products it shows the licence number which i have saved. Does Acrobat include Distiller as I was unable to register it and get any licence number?
I have had to contact Dell many times as my service tag was not recognised on their system. After 2 months they fixed that but they still are unable to fix my service tag being recognised in their My Dell downloads section to download my software (which i hope would be the location of the acrobat x software.)
To make matters worse there is no where on the Adobe site to download the installation and Dell have no record  of my system with Adobe acrobat X standard.
Please can someone provide a link to download this? As i said I have my licence already but no way of re installing.
Also if i contact Adobe support with my licence can they confirm that this licence is a Dell OEM licence so that i can show this as proof to dell that they supplied with the software so can provide me with some form of reinstallation.

Thanks but no it doesn't have this, none of the dells i've had over the past 6 years have had. They do have  dell datasafe to enable a multi dvd recovery discs & a recovery partition with image based recovery. Mine is already repartitioned but i had already checked the hidden recovery partition.
But I did find find a solution for those that still have the software installed. If people want to reformat and reinstall windows they can find their installation here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Setup Files. I have a folder in there "{AC76BA86-1033-F400-BA7E-000000000005}", in there are the installation files for Acrobat X Standard v10.0. This is not a trial and will require a licence key.
As this not on the Adobe site for some reason and many have problems with the Dell site i will upload it and post a link here. If the adobe staff have issue with this they can remove the link. But there are many people who have this legitimately as paid for as part of their PC purchase and were not correctly supplied with any form of installation media, like me.
Here is the install for Acrobat X standard. The RAR password is acrobatix & you will need winrar or other suitable software to extract the folder from the archive. Winrar can be downloaded from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm To install run setup.exe in the folder.
The file is not shared anywhere else and is not a trial so needs a legitimate licence for acrobat x standard version. (If staff find this inappropriate please remove the link, but it would be more useful to have the install available on the adobe site itself.) The install may be specific to dell PC's, I don't know.

After installation of version 10.0 the update to version 10.1.4 can be found here:

  • Re-Setting Pram - Defragmenting Hard Drive

I was finally able to get the Flashing Question Mark removed and re-install my OS 9.1 install CD by using Norton Uitlities, my question is... should a person re-set the PRAM every once and awhile to (De-Fragment the Harddrive if thats what resetting the PRAM does ? ) to keep the computer operating soomthly, or does a person only do that in dire needs ? Thanks Eric

    Hi, Eric -
...where did you learn all that ?
Partly from doing things wrong and having to figure out how to fix them; partly from books (the Missing Manual series from Pogue Press and the Dummies series are quite good); and in recent years mostly from hanging around in these Discussions forums.
I agree with Allan - although it appears that the Speed Disk and Unerase utilities that come with Norton are reasonably safe to use, Norton Disk Doctor has been identified too many times in these forums as causing more harm than cure; it seems to have a bad habit of fixing things that aren't broken.
In general, and specifically with NDD, it is wise to use a disk utility only when the OS on its CD is of equal or greater version than the newest OS on the hard drive.
Partitioning a hard drive, in effect, creates two or more smaller hard drives (volumes) out of one larger one. For most purposes the Mac will treat each volume (volume = an unpartitioned drive, or a partition of a partitioned one) as if it were a separate drive. This can be used to advantage, provided the drive is large enough.
For example, many folk have partitioned their hard drive in order to have OS 9 and OSX on separate volumes. This can make maintenance, repair, and (if needed) reinstallation of each OS easier. On older machines doing so can also speed the machine up a bit, since the running OS would not need to search as large a space in order to find a file it needs.
Partitioning can also be useful for temporary files, particularly large ones which need to not be fragmented - such as when doing video, audio, or even some graphics work. A partition dedicated for such use is easily defragmented - just erase it using Finder's Erase Disk function.
If you're interested in partitioning a drive -
    • Plan ahead. Partitioning a drive will erase everything on it, so be sure you have backed up everything you do not want to lose before doing so. It helps to decide in advance what your partitioning scheme will be - how many partitions, and what size each will be. Part of that process is taking into account that the first partition (the one at the top of the list in the partitioning window) will be the fastest; the last one will be the slowest. The primary OS (or OS's) should be on the first partition, probably with applications.
    • Use OS 9's Drive Setup to do it (from an OS 9.1 or later version Install CD), or even OSX's Disk Utility, rather than Norton or another 3rd-party utility. Instructions for using Drive Setup to partition a drive are included in this article -
    Using Drive Setup
    • Partitioning does not replace the need for effective backups. If the drive itself dies, so do all partitions on it.

  • Executed "sudo chown -R admin /" by mistake. how do i check everything?

So "sudo chown -R admin /" was executed by mistake on an OSX 10.8.5 machine that's connected with a multiuser network. In addition to screwing up the local machine, it may have effected many other things since / includes /Network, /Volumes, possible non-Mac mounts, etc.
I was looking in system.log, and it doesn't show which files had their permissions actually changed. Is there any log on the machine where the command was executed, which lists all the files under / that chown was applied to before it was stopped? And would it show what the ownership was changed from? I'd like to go through that list and know the extent of the damage.
    Thanks.

There is no log for that operation. Boot into your recovery volume and run Repair Permissions. It will take a while. You will have to re-run that command with the appropriate user on each user home directory. Some applications, particularly those that use DRM, will be scrambled and will have to be reinstalled. After repairing permissions and fixing the users, login as a user and try to run the expensive applications. Any that need reinstallation will alert you to that fact.

  • Orange fw v21 ota.

I have an Orange branded N86. I'm running v11 firmware. I don't own, or have access to a pc. I've checked my product code with the 'can i update' part of the nokia site, and it clearly says that v21 is available to me. Also, when i look at the 'SW update' app on my handset, it confirms that there is an update available, and it's approx 7000kb in size. However, i am unable to download this update. If i try the #*0000# method i just get an error message, 'server not responding'. If i try to update via the SW-update app, it simply connects to the web, then disconnects immediately after. In short, i am unable to update ota, although all the indications are that a firmware update is available. Bearing in mind the third sentence of this post, can anyone offer some advice?

You can take it to a Nokia Care Center for updating if you'd prefer that. Not to mention that it would let you circumvent all those problems of updating by yourself like incompatible PCs, needing reinstallation due to certain problems. Just make sure you have a backup of your important stuff in a separate memory card which you do not give to the technician when you put your phone in for updating.

  • What to do if your printer manufacturer does not have SL drivers.

If your printer manufacturer does not have drivers for your printer under SL, there are several possible solutions, only the first of which is well-known.
    1. Apple has probably included a Gutenprint driver for your printer, which will install without any problems.
    2. hpijs is a collection of open-source drivers made by HP but applicable to many other makes of printer. Google for it and follow the instructions.
The problem with these two solutions is that the drivers may not give full access to your printer. For instance, the Gutenprint driver does not allow duplex printing on my machine.
    3. An unofficial unsupported solution has been given in the HP FAQ thread and will probably work for other makes to restore full functionality.
Roughly speaking, download and use the drivers from your Leopard install disk and run the program you want to print from in 32-bit mode. For full details of how to install the drivers look at the post in the HP FAQ thread

As I said, the HP FAQ thread. A long one, five pages or so, with a suggestion made around page 3. I didn't give full details myself because that felt like stealing from the guy who gave it.
It's the program you want to print from that needs to be in 32-bit mode, which is done from the Get Info window.
The problem with drivers that used to work is that they are 32-bit and won't work directly on a 64-bit program.
If you have the old drivers installed (they may need reinstallation and re-recognition of the printer) I think the solution is to open a printer dialog from the program you are using and do not print but save as PDF. Set Preview or Acrobat Reader to run in 32-bit mode permanently and print the PDF from there.
I haven't had time to try this fully, but it does give the full printer dialog box rather than the restricted Gutenprint one.

The untold truth is that it will surely behave if you do master reset (Settings - Factory Settings). Make sure you Sync with you PIM, and Store Images in PC Suite, and do whatever else to protect yourself from losing data, since the phone memory will be fully reset. Exactly this will ensure smooth operation. DO NOT RESTORE from your previous PC Suite backup! Make sure you have all the info in PIM/PC Suite/LifeBlog (I HIGHLY recommend using Nseries PC Suite and LifeBlog), and then - have distros+license codes for all programs which are installed on Phone Memory.
Some programs that are installed into microSD card may also need reinstallation into same place.
After reformat - sync back from you PIM and you will have all your contacts. If you used LifeBlog like I advised you will have ability to return your messages back to phone IF you need them on the phone, otherwise just keep them in PC LifeBlog for your reference.
Take heed to my shouting above take care and
    good luck.
The fact is master reset cannot be done from settings>Factory settings . It needs a code: *#7370#.
The way you told is for a soft reset which DOESNT need any backup and restore. It can also be done by *#7780#.

Where do I find it and can you please provide a link?

    <serial number removed by moderator>

The trials are always for the product version that has all the features.
Download the Pro version from http://www.adobe.com/go/tryacrobatpro/
During installation, when it prompts you for the serial number, enter the serial number you have for Acrobat Std.
The installer will recognize it and configure the software to run the standard version. Let us know if you run into any issues.

  • Need 7.02 to 7.00 Reinstaller...

Anyone know of a 7.02 to 7.00 reinstaller? I installed 7.01 and it screwed up some export functions from After Effects and so forth. So I had to go back to 7.00. I was hoping 7.02 would fix 7.01 problems so I tried 7.02 and it gives the same problems as 7.01.
I know Apple posted a 7.02 to 7.01 reinstaller but thats not helping. I need 7.00.

Yes. After you run the installer itself, your first call to
the ColdFusion 8 administrator will run the configuration wizard
which can import your 702 settings.
You probably want to install CF801 using only the internal
coldfusion web server. Alternatively, install to a different
virtual website on your real web server. You need to segregate CF8
and CFMX7 so both can run. Test your application before fully
    cutting over to CF8.
