Need replacement dvd drive for ad-7910A

Hi,
I have a Lenovo T61 that was dropped and damaged the dvd drive - the dvd drive is a sony nec ad-7910a which is 9.5 mm thick and IDE (i believe). I tried everywhere for an exact replacement, but apparently this dvd drive is obsolete. Anyone know which available dvd drive would be a suitable replacement?
Thanks

dvd drive or dvd burner?
DVD Burner Multi (Hitachi LG the best one good for all discs) - P/N 39T2679
DVD Burner Multi (Panasonic the worst one in my opinion) - P/N  39T2677
DVD/CD Burner Combo (Hitachi LG) - P/N 39T2687
Don't think there is DVD reader available for the T61 (maybe i am wrong) there is one available for the old T4x series which you can also use but facia is slightly different, but won't affect the performance, you can get them on the ebay for couple of dollars.
Hitachi LG dvd-rom P/N 92P6579

  • Where can I buy a replacement DVD drive for a mac mini A1347

My mac mini is out of warranty and my toddler stuffed several discs into the drive slot.
Whenever it booted, it made a horrible ratcheting clicking noise, but couldn't eject anything.
I disassembled the entire computer, and pulled all 3 discs out with pliers. After reassembling, the computer works fine, but the DVD drive won't "catch" a disc and pull it in. I'm pretty sure some gear or something has been irreparably damaged, or that I bent it as I was pulling the disc out.
I've been having a difficult time trying to find a replacement drive to order anywhere.
Besides going with an external USB drive, does anyone know of the cheapest option for a replacement slot drive for the mac mini A1347. (AKA "mid 2010", AKA Core 2 Duo DDR3).
I don't want to haul it down to an Apple Store and pay a huge premium to have them diagnose and replace a part that I'm very capable of doing myself.
    -John

If your in the US then the ifixit link is a good option, in the UK the following is an option
    http://www.applemacparts.co.uk/store/mac-mini-intel-mid-2010-a1347-core-duo-c-76 85_8044_9197_9198.html?filter_id=1371&sort=1a
However when I had to replace a drive in a Mac mini, I bought a bare drive off eBay.

  • Replacement DVD drive for a Portege A100

    Hi
My Portege's DVD drive is making horrible clicking noises and appears to be on its way out. I have read from a thread on here that universal drives might not work as the Portege's BIOS has assigned the DVD drive as slave and that the new drive must be slave in order to work. Is this correct? I really do not want to be doing the soldering fix!
I have another laptop which has a TSST drive in and i plugged this in and the portgege showed an ide error. Is it just a matter of having the correct firmware or is the issue regarding the ide settings mentioned above.
I have shortlisted a Toshiba dvd drive PA3162E-2CD2 but it says it is compatitble with the Portege 4000, 4010, M100 and Tecra 9000, but does not list the A100 as compatible. Does anyone know if this drive will work on my machine?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi again
You are right. I have checked users manuals and there is nothing about compatible ODDs (optical disc drive). I recommend you to replace it wit the same model. Portege A100 is not known to me (I believe it is designed for UK market only) but ODD replacement is pretty simply. I believe ODD is fixed and it is mostly done with one screw that you can find on bottom side. After removing the screw you can take ODD out of notebook.
New drive must be placed into same place, fixed with screw and the job is done. If nobody offer any help here you can see if you will be able to remove ODD alone.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Replacement DVD Drive for Pavilion dv5 Notebook

My DVD Optical Drive will not read disc so I can't load software.  I'm trying to replace it but can't figure out what drive to buy.  In the HP Support Assistant it says the Model is CDDVD TS-L633N.  The product number for my computer is WQ799UA#ABA.  Can't anyone tell be where I can get another drive like the one I have?

Thanks, I got it to work by going to the cmd prompt and manually auto running the program. At first it said there was no disc in the drive. Weird, and this keeps happening.

  • Need replacement DVD writer for M70-191 .

My DVD writer on my M70-191 (a Ma****a UJ-8415) is refusing to recognise most CD's and fails when trying to burn DVD's, with various errors. Tried different types and different burning software. Reinstalled drivers, cleaned drive. No luck.
So, I'm looking for a new drive .. where can I buy a suitable replacement?

    Hello Steve
First of all I think you should buy the same drive. Doing this you will avoid eventually compatibility problems. I have Satellite M70 too and the optical disc drive is really good one.
I recommend you to use Google and you will find many online shops where you can order new ODD.

  • Touchsmart IQ542 - Replacement DVD drive

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement DVD drive for my Touchsmart IQ542? The current drive has decided that it really likes the DVD that is currently in it and won't spit it out, I suspect that this problem will only get worse so now is probably a good time to replace the drive.
Ideally I would like to put a Blu-ray drive in but if that's not possible a replacement for what is already in there would be fine.

  • Is it available to replace DVD driver in MacBook Pro with SSD 512GB Crucial m4 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb?

I'v external DVD driver and I'd like to replace DVD driver with in MacBook Pro with SSD 512GB Crucial m4 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb.  Is it available? All your opinions are welcome.

Here is a post from another thread on this problem.
So here's the deal, don't expect SATA III devices to work on the optical port.  I just went thru this on both my 2009 and 2012 13" MBP's.   The 2009 is SATA II (3Gps) and the 2012 is SATA III (6Gps).   A SATA III SSD (OWC 6G) will only connect at 1.5 Gps on the 2009.  On the 2012, it actually connects at 6 Gps, but every drive I tried crashed (dropped drives, file errors, kernel panics), including a Samsung 830 and  Seagate Momentus XT 750.  Out of desperation, I stuck the (slow 500 Gb) Apple HD in, it connects at 3 Gps and works like a champ.   Check your System Info on SATA info.   If you have a 2009, don't waste your $$$ on high end SSDs or drives.  If you have newer, BEWARE, you're likely to have issues with high end SATA III devices.    On the bright side both Samsung and OCZ V4 work great on the main drive (450 MB/s read) and boots in 10 seconds!!      The optical drive SATA port is a major issue for everyone ( like me ) who buys MBPs because they can trip them out, this is a real nagging issue/obstacle.   This is a firmware issue that needs to be addressed by Apple. I'm hoping for a firmware update and that Apple isn't doing this intentionally.

  • Equium A200-1VO - Replacement DVD Drive

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me find a replacement CD/DVD Drive for a Toshiba Equium A200-1VO. Would i need to get the exact same model DVD Drive or is there another suitable drive available that will work?
I know how to fit the drive so installation isn't needed
    Many Thanks
    Nick

    Hi!
I have also replaced my DVD drive on an older Toshiba notebook and I can say you should only install a DVD drive that is listed in the user manual.
So you can make sure that the new drive will work because the drive has the same pin assignment.
If you dont have the user manual you can download it on the Toshiba website. ;)
    Bye

  • CD or DVD drives for a sat pro 6000

any one know if i can put a Model number SD-C2302 dvd player in to a sat pro 6000 lab top or no of any that i can put in please?

    Hi Adrian,
You are mostly correct in your statement about CD/DVD drives for your notebook. However, it is important that you only buy drives with dimensions similar to your current model.
Generally CD/DVD drives come in two varieties, those destined for tower type installation and those destined for notebooks. The latter are usually designated as 'slim' or 'slimfit'.
To install the new drive you usually need to unscrew and remove any fitting brackets used to anchor your drive to your notebook together with any plastic trim components. These will then need to be attached to your new drive.
Toshiba notebooks use various drives (Toshiba, TEAC, Mat****a, etc.) so you will generally have a reasonably wide variety to choose from.
Finally, you may need to download drivers for your new drive if none are provided or if your purchase an OEM version. These can be obtained from the drive manufacturers web-site.

  • Recommend an external CD/DVD drive for a newbie?

    Hi,
Just bought my very first Mac, a new iMac. Then discovered it didn't have a CD/DVD drive. Woops. Probably should have realised that earlier...
Anyway, my student budget won't really stretch to a SuperDrive right now, so I was hoping someone could recommend an external drive or even just what I should be looking for in one? I'm not a tech aficionado, and a quick look around has left me very confused at how many options are out there!
I'd mainly be using it for occasional computer games (eg. Sims 3) and watching DVDs, and maybe DVD writing as I get to grips with iMovie. Will a bog standard drive with CD and DVD in the title suffice, or do I need something more? Or are SuperDrives the only ones that really work with iMacs?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer me!

SuperDrive refers to an optical drive that can both read and write CDs and DVDs.
Most external optical drives are combination drives (SuperDrives), now.
Do you watch regular DVDs or BluRay?
You can now buy BluRay reading/writing optical drives, but the Mac doesn't play BluRay movies natively.
You would need to purchase and download a BluRay player app.
You need a Super Drive for what you are doing.
Apple's own drive works and isn't that expensive. There are more expensive drives. There are more cheaper drives.
Do a search for external optical drives. For your new iMac you can either search for USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Thunderbolt or FireWire external optical drives.
USB 3.0, Thunderbolt and FireWire will be faster data throughput drives.
    Good Luck

  • I need the correct driver for an infrared remote control (ENE CIR receiver) for Pavilion DV4-2173nr

I need the correct driver for an infrared remote control (ENE CIR receiver) for Pavilion DV4-2173nr.
The receiver that came with my notebook is a black model one (see picture below), with the following information in its bottom label:
    RC1762302/00
    3139 228 50021
    HP SPS: 435743-001
    HP: HSTNN-PRO7
    RC6 ir
    CP06 60808 A 146218 REV. B
I never managed to make it work, from the very beginning. I know it is working, because I replaced the battery for a brand new one and it shows a blinking IR LED when I press any button and point it to a digital camera.
Searching for "ENE CIR receiver driver" is useless 'cause I received more than one hundred answers - I tried four of them but none worked so far.
So, instead of trying the whole bunch, I am crying for help -  could someone please tell me which driver is the correct one for this remote model?
    Thanks in advance and regards,

  • Recommend a good external DVD drive for Mac?

can anyone recommend a good external rewritable DVD drive for my EMac? i want something that will work with iDVD of course... thanks in advance.

LaCie is one. The Macally 500BC Firewire/USB 2.0 enclosure with a separate Pioneer S-Drive is another viable option.
I personally use multiple ADS Tech 1394 Pyro FW Enclosures with a Pioneer 110D S-Drive as well as a few ext. FW HD's and they all work well on mult. G4 systems (completely interchangeable via FW 400).
This link may help you to build your own S-Drive if you wish:

  • I want a 2nd DVD drive for my iMac

    Hi
Have a new 24" Alloy iMac and well, having moved my main computer from a PC to a MAC is great, iLove it! Problem though is there are lots of times where I could utilize a 2nd CD/DVD drive. Apparently the external drive for the MacBook Air is exclusive to that (which doesn't make any sense to me - Apple would sell a ton of these if they made them non-specific rather than to only a small % of sales). So I've been poking around here on the forums and I've seen some referenced to MacSales.com site - but with such a beautiful machine as an iMac, I can't bring myself to getting one of these butt ugly things. Found a handsome LG CD/DVD with Lightscribe external drive, but no evidence of Mac support.
Where can I get, or how can I get an external DVD drive for my Mac? I'd rather avoid patching if possible.
Better still: Apple - update the MacAir drive to be universal for your machines please!
    Thanks!

OWC (macsales.com) would be a good source, since they are very Mac-centric and should know what works well and what does not work well with Macs and Mac OS X.
They may be boxy and "ugly" but those full-sized tray-loading drives are the most reliable type. Plus with a tray-loader, you can read the strangely shaped and mini- discs that would choke a slot-loader.
If you want more style, LaCie is also Mac-oriented and they have some choices.

  • DVD drives for an older powermac G4??

Is there a list somewhere of compatible DVD drives for an older Powermac G4? My brother wants to upgrade it and I have no idea what to do...help?

I'd recommend upgrading to a DVD±RW drive, rather than installing a new DVD-ROM drive or combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. The Pioneer DVD burners are highly-recommended by Forum users, because of their native support within the Apple iApps (iTunes, iDVD, etc.) burning programs. You can get a good deal on one here, which is the same drive that's sold in Pioneer's retail packaging, carried by Best Buy, Micro Center, etc. Other branded drives may require the easy use of "PatchBurn," to create a drive support profile for them. I recently installed an 18x Memorex DVD±RW drive (manufactured by LG) in a B&W G3, and with the help of PatchBurn, it's natively recognized by OS X. Internal (ATAPI) DVD burners are available at electronics, office supply, and computer retail stores. Be aware that many major electronics manufacturers (HP, Sony, Memorex, etc.) outsource the production of their optical drives, so you're buying a rebranded drive. If you watch your local retailers' weekly sales, you can usually get a good deal on one for $40 or less. If you purchase from an online dealer, you can undoubtedly get it for less - such as the link I provided.
