Hi,
How is it going? I agree with Zanderol24 that we can use Group Policy Preferences File extension to do this. We can configure a GPP File item to replace the exe files.
If we still want to use script to do this, please try to manually run the script on a client to see if it can run successfully. Besides, please check event logs in Event Viewer to see if some related events were logged. Moreover, you can run cmd gpresult/h
gpreport.html to check how group policy settings are applied.
If the issue resulted from the script itself, in order to get better help, we can ask for advice in the following forum for script issues.

  • Need scripting help to open and save 250 MSWord files

What's the best software to use for this and how do I do it? Is there already a script somewhere that I can download?

  • Need script to place multiple single page pdfs in ID pages

Does anyone know of a script that would place a whole folder full of single page pdf files into an indesign document one per page, alphabetically by pdf file name, and ideally add new pages as needed. The last part is optional, as the ID document could already have the required number of pages, all using the same master page with the the picture frame already in place.
In my current project, the pdfs are all the same size as the ID document page size.
This would be along the lines of the scripts that place multipage pdfs, but for single page ones. I have tried first creating a multipage pdf by inserting a folder full of single page pdfs at the end of an initial pdf. Acrobat 8 pro does this very well indeed, but selects the pages from the source folder in random order. I need them in alphabetical order.
    Thanks for any insight,
    Al

For this project I could equally well use a script that would place or re link to a new pdf in a single page ID document, print device independent postscript with some sort of unique or sequential filename, and repeat the process for a whole folder of source pdf files. No new pages need to be added, and the new pdf could replace the prior one.
What I am after is a device independent ps file for these pdf files. The ones produced by batch processing from Acrobat 8 Pro do not offer enough control, as in that method I would need *only* the black separation.
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Need Script to split multi-paged ID file into multiple single paged ID files

I have created a 366 page document (and have 2 more to create). None of the text threads from page to page, and there are no master page items. Each page is destined to be used as a single block that will be copied and pasted into a master document by a database driven plugin (and for color editing reasons it needs to be separate .indd files). For expediency, I created these as a single document because I could import the text with ID style tags to pre-format the text (with all text blocks threaded). I then broke all the text threads using API's Auto Unstich plugin. We then manually tweaked the text of each page.
Gluon once sold a plugin called DocSplitter, but it has not been updated since CS1 and does not work with CS4.
Before you ask why I don't have the database plugin create multiple single page docs — the plugin doesn't currently save to individual ID docs (yet - feature to be released in 3 months).
I know that scripting could possibly do what I need, but I have little to no experience with AppleScript (7 years ago) and none with Javascript. Would love to find a pre-packaged solution and am willing to pay someone for it.
To guess there are two ways a script could work:
    1) script breaks the doc into single pages (not sure how that would work really) but the files would be named based on page number — i.e filename-01.indd, filename-02.indd, etc.
    2) script selects all objects on a page, groups the objects, copies the objects, creates a new page, pastes the objects and then saves the file in the same manner as number 1 above - loop and repeat for al the pages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    many thanks

  • Need script for ID 5.5

Not even sure if this can be done with a script. A client send me an ID book in version 5.5. She set up her margins so that there would be extra space at the spine, but she didn't bother to set up her master pages in a two page spread so that her margins would be mirrored. What we need to do is move everything on each recto page (each page has at least two text frames in columns, plus call-out boxes with a separate floating text frame inside, sometimes photos, sometimes headings, all in separate frames) a quarter of an inch to the right. So, everything on the page has to be selected and moved, but only the recto pages. It could be done manually, but I don't know if she is able to do it.

    Try this:

  • Need script to export Indesign to word and keep word index codes

    Hi,
I have a document and the index was created by importing word docs with indexentries. Now the client wants to revise the book and wants the text converted back to Word, but he wants to keep the orginal word index codes. Is that possible? Exporting as tagged text results in showing the index codes, but also much other codes which are not needed.
Would be greatfuull for some tips, or preferable a script that does the trick.

What were you going to do with this Tagged Text file? That's only good for re-importing it back into InDesign.
Anyway, it doesn't require a script at all. I had the clever idea of testing this, and indeed: index entries in InDesign are exported in RTF.

  • Need script to read a list and compare it to the contents of a folder...

I need a script that will read all of the file names within a tab delimited list and then compare them to the files within a directory (named IMAGES) and delete the files of this IMAGES folder that are not included in the list.
    Thanks in advance.

It won't work because of what you're comparing.
Consider if files_list does not contain (image_file as string) then.
Your script defines files_list as the contents of the specified file like:
    "file1.jpg
    file2.jpg
    file3.png"
and image_file is a list of files which, when coerced to a string looks like:
    "Cabezon:Users:cochino:Desktop:images:file1.jpgCabezon:Users:cochino:Desktop:ima ges:file2.jpgCabezon:Users:cochino:Desktop:images:file3.png".
There is no way files_list is going to be in image_file.
Instead you're going to have to iterate through one or other of the lists and find matches.
Since the list of files you want to keep is around 1,000 items long, and there are 6,000 files in the directory it would be quicker to iterate through the list of files to keep (a loop of 1000 iterations) than it would be to loop through the files to see which ones to delete (a loop of 6000 iterations).
Therefore your best bet is something like this (untested):
    tell application "Finder"
    --define the source directory
    set sourceDir to folder "Cabezon:Users:cochino:Desktop:images:"
-- create a temp dir for the files to keep
set filesToKeepFolder to (make new folder at (path to temporary items) with properties {name:"TempImageDir"})
-- get the list of files to keep
set files_list to paragraphs of (read file "Cabezon:Users:cochino:Desktop:Workbook2.txt")
    -- iterate through them
    repeat with eachFile in files_list
    try
-- move the file to the temp folder
move file (eachFile as text) of sourceDir to filesToKeepFolder
    end try
    end repeat
-- by the time you get here all the matched files
-- have been moved to the temp dir
-- so now you can throw away the rest of the files
    delete every file of sourceDir
-- and copy the files you want back in
move every file of filesToKeepDir to sourceDir
    -- and clean up
    delete filesToKeepDir
    end tell
The comments should give you some idea as to what it's doing, but in short it walks through the list of files looking for matching files in the specified directory. If it finds a match it moves that file to a temporary directory. At the end of the 1,000 iterations, what's left in the directory are the files that did not match the file read in at the beginning, so these files can be deleted.
Finally, to clean up, the files you want are copied back into the images directory and the temporary directory is deleted.

  • Need script to place line break based on character style

I'm a designer and know very little about scripting or XML, but here goes. I have some XML files I'm formatting for print, and they don't have paragraph returns where they need to be. The returns always need to be before a specific XML tag (that I can change to a specific character style to make it easier to find...). But I don't see a way to do this using the usual InDesign Find/Replace tools, so I assume scripting is going to be the answer. Anyone know how to accomplish this?

If I run it twice, will the original mirrorlist (moved to mirrorlist.bak after the first run) be irrevocably lost?
Just nitpicking: you don't have to use 'g' for global changes in the sed substitutions as there is only one occurrence per line.
Thanks Karol - I made the adjustments above to address both comments. The 'g' for sed I think is OK to leave in :-)

  • Need script to insert records

    Hi all,
I have to insert table LOCAL with entire contents of table REMOTE, minus any duplicates. Both tables have identical structures just hold different years of data. End result needs to be 1 gigantic table of all years. The tables have 7 indexes on each. Each table has about 20 million records. Any suggestions?
I do not know PL/SQL well. Given a generic script I should be able to figure it out.
    Many thanks

I'm sorry I should of mention that the year data in both tables are overlapping.
It was recommended by the vendor to purge historical data off. This alleviated the bogging down of the production database with querying very large tables. So every couple years the database was cloned to an archive database and used for reporting purposes.
The end result: we have an administrative nightmare. The goal is to get all historical data into 1 reporting db.
There is actually 4 archive dbs I am trying to merge into 1. ie 1 database has some 2001, all 2002-2003, some 2004. The 2nd has some 2004, all 2005-2006, some 2007. This is a financial/payroll database containing records with many different dates. For example on the finance - this particular table I have requested for help om a query has 4 different dates - -transaction date,, approval date, a check date and a reconciliation date (which may be in that year or not, or never has been reconciled) ....
This was the concern for the duplicates.
    Thank you

  • Need script to run command line as administrator

I need a VB Script to run a certain command line "wmic Product where name='XXX XXX XXX' call uninstall" in an elevated command prompt.
This is to uninstall a hidden application.
Is this possible? It must be I have see many others with suggestions and here it is. I tried a few I have seen but have not been able to get any to work.

    Bill,
Thank you for the quick answer. I believe you are right in your assumption.
I have been searching but found nothing so far.
I need to be able to run this line "wmic
Product where name='XXX XXX XXX' call uninstall"
in an elevated command prompt to uninstall the program.
I was looking for a VB script or PowerShell to execute it remotely on non domain roaming PCs.
Th3e command can be run remotely against stand-alone workstations but you must supply credentials.  Post in the platform forum for you version of Windows for help in using the WMIC utility.  WMIC /? will give you all of the command options fro
remote execution.  UAC only affects local systems.  You cannot use WMIC to remote back to the local system. WMIC does not allow impersonation to the local system.
Most installers will not automatically allow an unattended uninstall.  If there is any dialog at all the uninstall will fail and can hang.
I recommend contacting the vendor of the application to get more information.
In all cases you cannot bypass UAC as Bill has noted.  I am only noting that, sometimes, in a workgroup, you can use WMIC to remotely uninstall an application.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Needed: Script for exporting iPhoto albums into a file structure

Hello all! I have no experience with AppleScript, but I heard it should be possible to write a script which helps to copy/export a iPhoto album structure into an according directory structure. Does anybody already have such a script?
Thx for any information on that!

    Thomas,
I have created an AppleScript along with the TextCommands OSAX that duplicates all of the albums in iPhoto to a folder called "Albums" on the desktop. It is quite slow because of the need to open an Info window in Finder to get the path to the original photo but gets the job done.
If you wish it could be modified to provide an ability to select individual albums for duplication. Let me know if you are interested in the latter. I am also seeing whether the album structure can be created directly in a burn folder so that CDs/DVDs can be rapidly burned.
TextCommands is donationware and available at the following location:
    http://osaxen.com/files/textcommands1.0.1.html
and should be placed in the following location for the AppleScript to see it:
    ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions/

  • Needed:  Script for importing Photoshop layers, converting to shape layers

I've uncovered what seems to be a "bug" in After Effects CS5.  When I import photoshop artwork in layers, and then try to apply effects to an individual layer, such as a color change, a drop shadow, or pretty much anything including puppets, when I later try to render the movie, it crashes.
My solution has been to laborously go through and convert any layer where I need to apply effects into an AE shape layer, copy the mask over, etc.  Its not much fun, but it does solve the bug.
I know this could be done with a script, but I don't have the chops or the time to write it.
Has anybody else written such a script?
    In essence, it needs to:
    1.  import a Photoshop file in layers.
    2.  select each layer in the file and
    3. create an AE layer
4.copy the mask from the PS layer and
    5. paste it onto the AE layer.
    6. keeping the same registration and
    7. keeping the color of the PS layer.
Easy, huh?  For somebody who knows what they're doing, which doesn't include me.....
    :<)McFrisco

Wouldn't it be just more efficient if you provided one of your crashing PSDs along with the AE project so we can check and verify? If you contact me off-forum I can assure you confidentiality and even provide you with an upload location. I even looked up your otehr threads, but I feel we never really reached a point where we could make out something definite, so rather than trying to fix things the hard way, it may make more sense to let someone take a look. This may be something trivial, after all and be perfectly fixable by doing something differently...

  • Need Script to point to a FULL SCREEN Window

    Oh boy-
    I'm almost there!
I just need a simple javascript that will point to the
main.php file of my web site to open in full screen. I can place
the script maybe called, "openfullscreen.js" within the root
directory of the site so it will open full screen.
I will attach the HTML that will show the "dead link", that I
would like to replace. Unfortunately, for some of you this will be
an easy task, but for me, I'm a newbie.
    Thanks so much
    Michael

    >>open in full screen
All you will accomplish with this trick is to drive people
    away from your
site to never return. Users generally do not want their UI
    manipulated.
Today's web is user-centric, not designer-centric. Users want
    and expect
control. They do not want to have control denied as with
    exploding browser
windows and Flash presentations that start automatically.
    Good designers
design for the user not for their own egos.
Browser publishers recognize this and make it nearly
    impossible for the web
site to manipulate the user's browser viewport. Thank
    goodness! So what you
    are asking is really fruitless.
Also, you have wasted a lot of time entering meta keywords.
    The major search
engines quit using them years ago. Again, if you want to
    build a successful
website you really have a lot of homework and research to do
    first.
    Good luck.
    Walt
Please re-think what you are trying to accomplish. Take some
    time to
understand the web and its users.
