Need serious help with Ipod nano and WinXP

A few days ago my fiancee was moving songs to her Ipod when it automatically tossed all of my songs onto her Ipod so she deleted them from Itunes and tried to continue. Something happened and she got a message that her Ipod "could not be read from or written to" so I hooked mine up to see if it was a hardware problem and all of my music was also deleted and now I get the same message. We have uninstalled the software, reinstalled the original CD, updated to v.6 and still get the same message. Also, when we try to uninstall the updated Ipod software we get an error message 0x80040707 access denied.
We can see the Ipods when we open Itunes, but can't move any songs to our Ipods. Also gives an error msg about not being able to copy music because of missing playlists...I never had any playlists. These things are only 6 months old and I can't afford to pay $60 for phone tech support. If anyone has the answer plz respond or email me at [email protected]
This has been giving us a headache for a week already. Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of articles you can check out for help:
"-36 or "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
Hudgie - iPod cannot sync because one or more playlists are missing

  • I need serious help with my nano!!

    So I was running the lastest iPod updater tool from Apple and I hit restore. The line went all the way then it said factory settings have been restored, although both the restore and update buttons were blacked out in the updater tool. The iPod never restarted like its supposed to when you restore it, it just kept on blinking do not disconnect. So I held down menu and the center button to manually restart it. It restarted in black and while blinking do not disconnect. The iPod updater program froze. I went to my computer and it said something like "Removable device" instead of "Andrew's iPod" and I clicked on it and it said it had to be formated. I hit no and then clicked "safely disconnect" and safely disconnected the iPod. I unplugged it and it showed a check mark saying "ok to disconnect". So then I disconnected to cable and it showed some battery ion then shut off. That makes no sense because it had been sharging for hours prior to this. Now when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. Nothing shows up on the iPod and I hit every button and nothing happens. The computer doesn't recognize anything. I need some help big time.

    figured it out myself

    Do i need nike+ sensor with iPod nano 6.generation?

    According to this page: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
    Track your walk. Or your run.
    The built-in accelerometer in iPod nano gives you real-time feedback on your workout, and you can upload data to the Nike+ website. There’s no need to connect a receiver or use a shoe sensor to track your steps, distance, pace, and time. Just clip on iPod nano and go. In the gym, connect iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cardio machine to keep track of every workout. Back at your computer, upload all your data to the Nike+ website to create personal goals, check your progress, and challenge your friends to top your results.Learn more about Nike + iPod

  • Experience with iPod nano and iPod socks?

    After discussing with the Apple Helpline about the scratches on my nano, they quickly proposed to send my some iPod socks for free in order to protect the nano (is this like implicitely admitting that something went wrong?).
    My question: Does anybody have experience with iPod socks and the nano, i.e. do they scratch the nano as well (as somebody on another forum has posted)?

    lol, good one James. + for you.
    I remember this same thing with the iPod Mini. That was released in February 2004 and there were a huge number of cases by around April. But the mini was announced in January which ment the third party makers had a whole month to design and make cases.
    The ironic thing....people didnt need a case for the mini. Its was scratch resistant to begin with, however the nano is damaged by finger acid!!!

    PS: James, off topic, but do you use your iPods for different reasons, as im trying to think of ways to justify having three aswell?

  • I NEED SERIOUS HELP WITH THIS, i cant even USE my ipod, whatsoever....

    I just got a new IPOD classic 80 GB for my birthday. I needed to update my itunes. Keep in mind, i had 7.3 before trying to update. So its downloaded, and as i start the process....not even 4 seconds in a screen comes up saying
    "Another Installation is in progress. You must complete that one before contuining this one" along with a screen saying "MsiExec.exe has encountered a problem...". i've restarted my computer, uninstalled my itunes thinking that may have been causing the problem. i have no idea what program i need to install or is in the process already! the only thing i think i possibly need to register my ipod. this has been happening for about 2 hours and i'd really like some advice in solving the issue.

    Registering your iPod just puts you in the Apple systems for tech support, etc. So it doesn't really change anything with your computer.
    What I'd recommend, though is to completely uninstall all the software and reinstall like in this article. But if that doesn't work, I find that installing through another user account can usually resolve the issue for me (since it actually installs systemwide instead of just user specific).
    I hope I was helpful,

  • I need some serious help with MPEG Streamclip and iMovie 11

    Hello, everyone!
    I hope that some kind soul here is able to help me. My sister-in-law asked me if I could help her re-edit a video that they made of a conference she gave because she didn't like the way some parts were edited. I oh-so-kindly (and perhaps stupidly) offered to help her out!
    A little background: even though I studied audiovisual communications in college, I leaned (a LOT) towards the audio production part of it and, lately, photography, too. That means that I'm not very good at the whole creating-a-movie-in-iMovie thing, even though I know it's supposed to be easy.
    So, here goes: I have a DVD from her which has the typical TS files for audio and video. I downloaded a program called MPEG Streamclip and then it said I needed to buy the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component so that I could rip the DVD my sister-in-law gave me. I bought the component.
    I've converted, done small, 1-minute tests, of the DVD with MPEG Streamclip to DV and also to MP4 (just in case). I do it, then import them to iMovie 11. I don't edit anything at all, just a test to see how it looks, so I immediately send the project to iDVD to see how it looks. It DOES NOT look good.
    Compared to the DVD she gave me, which looks all smooth (picture-wise), mine has a certain amount (NOT HUGE) of pixelation. I can tell especially because there are some slides that were added to her project, so I can see the pixelated parts around the edges of the letters.
    The DVD she gave me does NOT look HD. In fact, it looks SD (4:3), so I don't believe it's that.
    If anybody here knows about this, what am I doing wrong? Am I not ripping it correctly using MPEG Streamclip? Am I not making the iMovie 11 project right? Am I burning in the "wrong way"?
    If it's the MPEG Streamclip ripping that I'm doing wrong, what are the settings I should be using? What format should I be using so that it is VERY iMovie-friendly?
    I want the final video that I would edit to look exactly as the one she gave me. That IS possible, right?
    For extra information, if needed, I am running a MacBook Pro, 13", i7 with 4 GB of RAM and am running OS 10.6.6. I've been a Mac user since the OS 9 days.
    Thanks in advance for anyone who helps me out.
    Serge

    Ok. Got it!!!
    Z, thanks a lot!! Now things don't look pixelated and my test burn looks exactly like the dvd my sister-in-law gave me... except for ONE THING:
    There are these graphics done in I-don't-know-what program with a cube transition. They look like when you do 3D cube transitions in virtual desktop, you know?
    Anyway, HER dvd looks completely smooth when you see these transitions but MY dvd looks... well, not right. It looks a bit like the screen or the letters "tremble" or shake a bit. I hope you can understand what I'm saying.
    I followed your advice to the letter and everything is perfect with the exception of those transitions (because after the transition passes and you see the slide with the writing, it looks completely smooth).
    Do you know of something that I can do to help with this problem?
    Thanks again!
    Serge

  • I need help with iPOD Nano

    Maybe someone out there can help me. I just updated my iTunes on my MAC to 7.0. After that my iPOD Nano displays a message:
    "FIREWIRE CONNECTIONS ARE NOT SUPPORTED. TO TRANSFER SONGS USE THE USB CABLE PROVIDED. PRESS CENTER TO DISMISS."
    After I press the center button, the message reappears. I can't seem to get rid of this message. And I don't use a firewire I only use the USB Cable.
    I've tried the "5R's" recommended and that hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

    bollocks to the iPod warning, shove a firewire cable in, it'll take like 10 times longer, but then you'll have a working hi-fi

  • Serious Issue With iPod Nano

    I have combed forums and cannot find the solution to my problem with my pink iPod nano I obtained about a year and a half a go. It is in excellent condition despite the problems I have been having with it.
    The iPod is not recognized in iTunes. It does not come up in sources after reseting the iPod numerous times, fully updating my macbook and iTunes, and restarting iTunes.
    The iPod is recognized by my mac, however, though not as an iPod - but as a regular USB would be. It has the plain white "disk" icon and is titled NO NAME.
    I run bootcamp, and have a feeling I have completely wiped the iPod when in Windows XP (including settings). I cannot restore the iPod because the only way I can do this is from within iTunes which is frustratingly impossible (iPod is is not recognized as an iPod anymore).
    The iPod itself shows the correct "Connected" and "Ejecting" messages when conncted to the computer, and when being disconnected. Whenever I pick the iPod up and turn it on or wake it up, it constantly reverts to the "select your language screen", as if it is being constantly reset, again and again.
    Any help to somehow reinstall iPod software manually/without iTunes or provide another solution would be great.

    I also have a pink 4th Ipod purchased in Dec 2008 connecting to Windows XP. Would like to reset to factory settings but Itunes doesn't see Ipod as connected. (1)"Connected" screen appearing/disappearing-(2)Apple icon appearing/disappearing as the Ipod resets itself. Device doesn't appear in "My Computer" - until the Ipod Apple logo appears in the process of rebooting/disconnecting. Songs play briefly until Ipod resets. I also have manually reset the Ipod by holding the center and menu button down. Use regularly with Nike+. Would like to reset to factory setting but my Ipod never gets to the point of being recognized in Itunes.
    Any resolution to this problem.

  • I need urgent help! IPOD nano...

    Hello people. Let me start off by explaining the condition of my IPOD nano. It's already been a year since I cracked its screen and 80% of it is now black and the remaining, sadly, only shows the white areas of the screen.
    So basically, with the screen, I can only tell whether it's switched on or off. Anyway, it still function like any other IPOD except the visual disadvantage, which, I managed to overcome as I've gotten used to my IPOD's interface and my song's are arranged in alphabetical order.
    My current issue here is that, lately, I am unable to switch on my IPOD. Assuming the battery was dead, I connected it to my notebook and allowed it to charge (my notebook was able to recognize it as well). However, to no avail, I was still not able to switch it on. I tried resetting it as well. Unfortunately, nothing seems to resurrect my IPOD.
    After a day or two leaving it alone at 1 corner, I decided to connect it to my notebook once again. This time, the light blinks on and off for about 3 times and then switches off. During the process, there was this beeping sound too. Again, my notebook was able to recognize the IPOD.
    To surmise, I still have not given up on my IPOD as I believe it is still working due to the fact that it still emits out light AND sound AND my notebook was able to read it. So if anyone out there is able to help me out here or if possible what would the beeping sounds mean and the three flashes of light, I would truely appreciate it!
    I am so sorry for making this post so lengthy!

    Anyone who as any idea, could you please offer your help, thank you!

  • Need serious help with JSP + JDBC/Database connection

    Hey all,
    I have to build an assignment using JSP pages. I am still pretty new and only learning through trial and error. I understand a bit now, and I have managed to get a bit done for it.
    I am having the most trouble with a Login Screen. The requirements are that the a form in a webpage has Username/Number and Password, the user clicks Login, and thats about it. The values for the username/number and password NEED to come from the database and I cannot manage to do this. The thing I have done is basically hardcode the values into the SQL statement in the .jsp file. This works, but only for that one user.
    I need it so it checks the username/number and password entered by the user, checks the database to see if they are in it, and if so, give access. I seriously am stuck and have no idea on what to do.
    I dont even know if I have made these JSP pages correct for starters, I can send them out if someone is willing to look/help.
    I have setup 3 other forms required for the assignment and they are reading data from the db and displaying within tables, I need to do this with non-hardcoded values aswell. Im pretty sure I need to use for example 'SELECT .... FROM .... WHERE username= +usrnm' (a variable instead of username="john" , this is hardcoded), I just CANNOT figure out how to go about it.
    Its hard to explain through here so I hope I gave enough info. A friend of mine gave some psuedocode i should use to make it, it seems ok to follow, its just I do not know enough to do it. He suggested:
    get the username and pass from the env vars
    open the db
    make an sql (eg SELECT user, pass FROM users WHERE user = envuser)
    index.jsp points to login.jsp
    login.jsp get the vars you put into index.jsp
    opened the db
    is the query returns nothing - then the user is wrong
    OR if the passwords dont match
    - redirect back to index.jsp
    if it does match
    - set up a session
    - redirect to mainmenu.jsp
    Anyway, thanks for any help you can give.
    -Aaron

    Hi,
    Try this... it may help you...
    mainMenu.jsp
    <html>
    <body>
    <form method="POST" action="login.jsp">
    Username: <input type="text" name="cust_no">
    <p>
    Password: <input type="password" name="password">
    <p>
    <input type="submit" value="LOGIN">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    login.jsp
    <%@ page import="java.io.*, java.sql.*"%>
    <html>
    <body>
    <%
    try {
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:rocky");
    Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
    String query = "SELECT cust_no, password FROM customers WHERE cust_no='";
    query += request.getParameter("cust_no") + "' AND password='";
    query += request.getParameter("password") + "';";
    ResultSet resSum = statement.executeQuery(query);
    if (request.getParameter("cust_no").equalsIgnoreCase(resSum.getString("cust_no") && request.getParameter("password").equalsIgnoreCase(resSum.getString("password"))
    %>
    <h2>You are logged in!</h2>
    <%
    else
    %>
    <h2>You better check your username and password!</h2>
    <%
    }catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe){
    System.err.println(cnfe);
    }catch (SQLException ex ){
    System.err.println( ex);
    }catch (Exception er){
    er.printStackTrace();
    %>
    </body>
    </html>
    I didn't check the code that I wrote. So you may have to fix some part of it. Also this may not be the best solution, but it will help you to understand the process easily.
    The more efficient method is to check whether the result set returned from the database is null or not.... I hope you got the idea... Good luck!

  • Help with Ipod, restoring, and updating Itunes!

    I was trying to buy a game when it told me I had to update my Iphone software to 3.1.2. So I plugged my Ipod in, and tried to update it. It then told me I needed to update Itunes to 9.0.3 before I could update my Ipod. So I started to update Itunes when an error came up.
    So I thought that maybe I didn't really need to update Itunes, so I went into the Itunes store and bought the update for my Ipod. It started to download, and then it froze. My ipod had the screen with the apple on it.
    So I didn't know what to do and I looked at tech support and it said to restart your computer. So I unplugged the Ipod and restarted the computer. When the computer came back on I pugged the ipod back in and the screen said to connect to Itunes.
    So I connected it to Itunes and all my information was gone! It said it detected my Ipod was in recovery mode and to restore the ipod. So I try to restore it and then it says error (1603) and won't let me restore my ipod.
    I tried looking up the error and I couldn't find anything. I have no idea what I did and I'm worried I may have lost everything.
    So now I can't even get my Ipod to turn on and it's my dads and he is not very happy. And I don't think he has backed it up in a while. So help would be VERY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

    hi i have a similar problem as well, my ipod touch showed the connect to itunes icon, i did it and still showed it. i think this is after i tried installing the latest software up date. this is the second ipod this has happened to of mine. i am so frustrated and i would really appriciate help from an apple techicians or anyone else. i saved up a long time for this ipod. pls email [email protected] or txt +254724446340!

  • Serious Problem With iPod Nano/iTunes...

    Hello all.
    2 Months ago, I upgraded from a Dell Dimension 2800 to a 5100. I was using an iPod Shuffle. Upon connecting the device to my new computer, it would come up with 'iTunes cannot recognize the iPod' and so on. When trying to Restore Factory Settings, the process could not be completed. The Shuffle ended up breaking and was replaced by Apple. It still doesn't work in my computer.
    I now have an iPod Nano, although the same problem occurs. I have reformatted my hard-drive several times, and have tested just the iPod with nothing else on the computer. Still the same problems. My USB Drives work fine, and Mass Storage works fine before installing iTunes and the iPod software. I am guessing that the iPod has corrupted my USB Drivers or something like that. I have followed all the help topics - they do not work. Both the Shuffle and the Nano work on other computers.
    I know several people who have the same problem. I would like to know if anyone else has the same problem, and has any idea how to solve it?
