Need shortcut to place only video in timeline

I'm assuming there's a simple shortcut for what I need. About 20% of the clips I drag to the timeline are clips in which I don't need audio. Is there a way to do this without disengaging the A1and A2 indicators? Thanks in advance.

A common (and simple) workaround is to lock all audio tracks (aka Shift-F5), then drop in your clips. However, this method is a workaround and has drawbacks (You can't really perform Insert edits, because it moves existing clips with audio out-of-sync, in particular)
And so, the proper method to doing this (if I may be so pompous) is...
Instead of using the keyboard keys I & O - or the various buttons - to mark In & Out, use the Video In and Video Out function.
From the menubar, Mark > Mark Split > Video In (or Video Out).
Or, for the keyboard obessed (like me!), Control-I for Video In, Control-O for Video Out.
Please keep in mind that you should not have any Audio Marks - aka Audio In or Out - set if all you're looking to do is drop in Video only (otherwise, you'll end up with an asymmetric edit).
In the cases, where Audio In and/or Out are set already, use the menubar function (Mark > Clear Split > Audio Marks) to get rid of them.
Once your Video In and Out are set appropriately - and your Audio Marks are cleared - Insert or Overwrite as needed. Or, if you prefer, drag from the Viewer.

What is the purpose of the double click? If you click once to deposit each mark in sequence the dots should not join. However, if you click once to create the first mark, then hold down the Shift key, each subsequent mark with the Shift key held down will join the dots and create a line.

Controlling video and timelines from main stage. Can it be done?

The set up:
I have 3 Symbols on the main Stage.
Each Symbol has a video and 4 text sections, with the text appearing below the video.
When the video reaches a certain point, the text changes (for instance, when the video is talking about Widget 1, Text 1 appears, then when it reaches the part about Widget 2, Text 2 appears, etc). Getting and keeping everything synchronized is very important.
The goal:
Having a button that will pause both the video AND the text when clicked so they stay in sync.
The fly in the ointment:
The goal is pretty easy to accomplish by simply having a button in the Symbol that will stop the text and pause the video. The problem is that since there are 3 Symbols on the stage, when the button is clicked, it needs to stop any other videos that are currently playing. For instance, someone is viewing Video 1, but they decide that they'd rather watch Video 3, so they click on the button for Video 3, but Video 1 (and its Timeline with the text) is still playing after they hit that button. How do I make it so that when they click on Button 3, Video 1 (and its timeline) stops playing?
The other fly:
Right now, there are only 3 of these video players on the Stage, but more may be added later. The code I use must be flexible enough to adapt, so I don't have to add additional lines of code to every button every time a new video is added.

1. Could an Xserve be loaded with a standard version of OSX and operated as if it were a desktop system?
The general consensus is "yes" but you will lose some of the cool features like hardware monitoring, heat warnings, etc. which might or might not effect your ability to keep an eye on it in odd situations - like hot clubs or cramped DJ quarters.
2. Does the fact that I'm considering the "cool factor" as it relates to a rack-mounted server make me a complete geek?
THAT doesn't make you a geek. But it is an outward expression of your inner geek.

Until you admit you have a problem you really can't seek help.
Seriously though... I don't think this is a great plan despite whatever respect I have for your geek chic.
1) You're paying for features and software you'll be throwing away.
2) Xserves are designed to run in server rooms and air-conditioned offices not in the field.
3) They are loud. No, really they are... perhaps not the best choice for a DJ.
4) If an iBook G4 is working for you currently then you don't need the processing power or through-put you're paying for with the Xserve.
I would suggest getting two low end Intel towers (or you might be able to get away with 1 tower and a mini or something cheap) and then mounting them in a glass lined rolling rack or something like an Xrack. If you're concerned they are "cool or geeky" enough then spend some of the thousands of dollars you'll save on some case mod neon, LED spotlights or those lighted USB cables or the like to "tech them up".

Photoshop CC 2014 3D positioning in video animation timeline

I'm a mac user and experimenting with the 3D and video timeline features. All I am trying to do is make a small custom shaped logo spin in place although it starts to spin around an axis that is off camera. My instructor at school did the exact same process that I've been doing on her computer, and it worked flawlessly which leads me to believe there is a snap, pin, or setting that my computer has turned on/off. I have found the 'Edit Pins' option in the View tab but I have not been able to select it as it is grayed out. Is that where the answer to my problem is? If not then where? The object that i am trying to rotate in this situation will move from the origin point whenever i try to apply a transformation of any kind, such as rotating, scaling, and moving.
There is a similar problem that i have found on this forum, Photoshop CC 2014: 3D Scene Position Missing - Video Animation Timeline is the title of it although it has not been answered. This question was posted about the same time of my problems started as well. After a good amount of hours I haven't found anything close to an answer.

I don't do 3D animations, but Seb Zaremba said it worked in the former Photoshop CC. You can have both version installed on your computer. Go to the Creative Cloud app and Apps>Filter & version>previous versions. There you will find the installer for CC (2013). Give it a try.
Also, you might consider reporting a bug over at feedback.photoshop.com

Viewing only videos in iPhoto

Is there any way to view only video clips within iPhoto library? Instead of having to search through my library for video clips?

Why not make an Album of them, so they are gathered in the one place? When you import a movie it's automatically assigned a keyword. So
File -> New Smart Album
Keyword -> is -> movie

Why do i have two places for videos?
If I bluetooth myself a video and save it it goes into gallery. What if I want it in My Videos instead how do I move it? And i only want to see the video in My Videos and not in the gallery as well?
Also when I do a memory search it doesnt show the videos in My Videos up..
P.S what does the little sheild mean next to some videos?

There's a program called "File Manager" that lets you move/copy and delete files from your device. It's usually under Tools.
If you put videos in "My Videos" folder I think they don't show up in the Gallery. Also files in "Videos" don't show up in Video Center but they do in the Gallery.
What do you mean "memory search"?,
About the little shield, I have no idea what it means. I guess it's about the DRM protection, but I'm not 100% sure.

La lleve a un servicio técnico oficial Apple y me dijeron que era la placa de video. Vivo en argentina. En ningún lugar tienen ese repuesto. Me dijeron que tengo que tirarla, q ya no puedo hacer nada salvo que la lleve a Estados Unidos. Compre esta Mac mini en enero de 2012. No puedo creer que ya no pueda repararla. Alguien sabe que puedo hacer? Estoy enojada porque cuando la compre me decidí por esta máquina pensando que me duraría más tiempo, pero en dos años ... Tengo que tirarla???????? You have a mid 21011 Mac Mini. That model uses the graphics processor that is built into the CPU chip. The CPU chip is soldered to the logic bard. Thus, it appears you need a new logic board, not cheap. You might be better off purchasing a used 2011 Mini

Software-only video decoder in J2ME

I have developped a software-only video decoder, written entirely in pure J2ME MIDP/2.0. It decodes a 176x144 video at 12 fps. The codec is proprietary and has been developped specificly for that purpose. With this stuff, it is possible to play a video from a midlet (HTTP streaming supported) without relying on the video player installed on the phone (Oplayo, RealPlayer, etc...). The quality is not bad, and is similar to 3GPP. Encoding rates vary between 120 and 170 Kbit/s. It supports real-time overlays with transparency, so that you can put a translucent image on top of the video. Landscape mode is also supported.
I would like to have your opinion about this. Do you think this is something that can be valuable ? Do you see any immediate market for this ? Or do you think that this kind of initiative can't be seriously used since everybody today is focusing on MPEG4/3GPP. I am currently thinking on bringing this technology to the open source world but I need your ideas guys.

Notice that it's 2 players here: a video (3gpp) and an mp3 player are playing at the same time.
My MIDlet is a dancing game where you select a song and command a character to make dance moves.

In my opinion LabVIEW would be up to the task. However on important thing to note is that you can write inefficient code in any language. I would venture to guess that if you wrote the C++ code (sounds like you don't have much experience in that arena) there would be more risk of writing inefficient code than in a language you have experience with. In addition, LabVIEW makes it easy to support parallel processing which can improve your performance. Parallel programming in C++ is non-trivial. LabVIEW is a fully compiled language and doesn't suffer from performance hits you get from interpretive script languages.
BTW, the problem you described doesn't sound very taxing on a well written LabVIEW application.
You may want to look at some of the videos of the demos from this year's NI Week. There were some extremely powerful applications that very doing some very heavy duty number cruntching and data acquision.

Different video between timeline and primari storyline

I'm a beginner with FCP, I'm at the end of my project, just need to share but the video of a clip I modified in the timeline looks different in the primari storyline (audio is ok) and the problem is there also in the exported video.
is there any "refresh clip" or "empty cache" instruction?
I mean, it looks like an old version of the video in the primary storyline (and this is the problem) but it looks correct in the timeline (audio is good in both cases)

In the viewer it looks correct when i watch it from the timeline but it plays the wrong clip when I watch it from the primary storyline or exported video.
I'm working this way: I'm making a serie of similar videos, so I have a first clip with an intro, a main clip with video and audio effects set always the same way and a last clip with the outro (so in every video there's the same intro, audio an video style and same outro). Every time I work on a new video, i click "open in timeline" on the main clip, I work in here on the contents and then I export the primary storyline. This time I built the main clip, then at the very end I added a last part, but when I watch it from the primary storyline there's the video of a different part played over the correct audio (so that video part is played twice: once over there and once at the right moment).
It seems like in the prymary storyline it plays part of a previous version of the video (Like if it was before I added the last video) and part of the current correct one...I don't understand why it all looks fine in the timeline and in the primary storyline the audio is fine as well But not video...
anyway, I'll try exporting with the range tool and let you know...thank you

Photoshop CC 2014: 3D Scene Position Missing - Video Animation Timeline

The 3D Scene Position line in the video animation timeline - missing in 2014.2.1 (CC 2014 up-to-date) ... I have tried all the posted work arounds; using 3D Meshes but the movement from center problem is still present... the answer provided in other posts about this being moved to the Scene group is entirely unhelpful. The 3D Camera post saying it was just renamed is not correct this does not rotate the object. What is the answer or the problem, is there a solution within Photoshop CC?

Is there a way to import ONLY videos into PE8, not photos?

I have a million photos I never intend to use in a Premiere Elements 8 production. Using the PE8 "Organizer," is there a way to import ONLY videos into PE8, not photos?

I do not use Organizer, so may be missing something, but I would guess that one could Sort By, and choose File Type. Remember, Organizer is for the system, and does not reflect what is Imported for use in a Project - two different things. In lieu of Organizer, I use Adobe Bridge, installed with some of my other Adobe programs.
I would also assume that Organizer does things via folders. If one does not have any aspect set to auto, I would think that it would ONLY do thumbnails for certain folders, as directed. If one has their stills in other folders, then only AV Assets would be seen by Organizer.
Maybe some Organizer guru will have better directions for you. I am just thinking here and speculating.

Only Video No Sound on TV via HDMI

I have two relative new notebooks, HP15-R063NR and HP15-f039wm. Both are Windows 8.1
I tried the two notebooks using the same HDMI cable and the same TV. The HP15-R063NR works normally, but the HP15-f039wm has no sound on the TV (only video no audio).
I checked the Sound playback when connecting to TV via HDMI. The HP15-R063NR has the icon of 247HD-T11 Intel® Display Audio, but the HP15-f039wm doesn’t have the icon.
I checked C:\windows\system32\drivers. Both laptops have the same drivers: drmk.sys, IntcDAud.sys, Ksthunk.sys and Protcls.sys with the same dates installed
3.I checked both laptops for Troubleshooting – Hardware & Sound-Troubleshoot Audio Playback-Playing Audio, both laptops were “Troubleshooting couldn’t identify the problem”.
Question: Two HP laptops with the same drivers, using the same HDMI cable and the same TV, no problem through Troubleshooting. Why one has good audio the other doesn’t . How to fix it?

I understand that one of your notebooks is not playing sound using HDMI, using all the same hardware. Also that you have performed some of the standard checks. I am happy to assist with this.
As to why the one is working and the other is not, is impossible to say yet. Like any complex device, there are small variations between the components, and in some cases that can result in differences between how one performs versus the other. So no two pieces of hardware will be exactly the same.
Anyway, I would recommend you check through this page and since you have already done many of the things within, I would look to the options further down, and start with the hard reset:
Troubleshooting HDMI Display and Sound Issues
Let me know if those steps help at all, and if not, any other information you can provide.
