Need some expert advise on updating second dev.
Greetings all,
I have a production database (11.1.0.7, 64 bit) that is built on redhat 5.4 64 bit. I just built a secondary box exactly the same as production. I sent a cold copy over (about two weeks old) to the new box and all started up fine. The SIDs on both databases are the same, just the server names are different. Also, the file structure is the same as well. Pretty straight forward. My issue is, I want to manually keep my new db updated from production. I don't want the SYSMAN schema or the public management view synonyms in the public schema over-written, becuase I would have to always rebuild the db control
repository if overwritten. Probably familiar with this command: emctl -config dbcontrol db -repos create. Don't want to keep dropping and recreating that after a refresh from production to my new dev box.
Any suggetions in manually keeping my dev box updated, but preserving my db control so others may access the database via WEB? The secondary or new host is in NOARCHIVELOG mode, so I guess that would rule out replication, but that can be changed if needed.

Hello,
So, if I've well understood, you want to keep updated a selection of Schema of your Dev database from
the Production.
I think you can use Oracle STREAM technology to replicate a part of your database, but the 2 databases
must be in ARCHIVELOG mode.

Oracle Stream will update automatically the Target database from the Source one.

Beginner in desperate need of some expert advise
In adobe premier elements 7 do i have to drag every transition separately to each clip on the timeline or can I select and drag bulk loads of transitions? For many of you I have been on these forums for quite sometime and now I am in need of SERIOUS advice. With the acquisition of a Power Mac G5 Quad taking over most of my everyday activities which I do on my mac pro, I am in desperate need of trying to figure out how I can get the best out of my 2009 mac pro of which I worked so hard in making it a 6-core 2010 machine.. Now I am thinking I might have gone overboard, way overboard as I am not making use of the machine and its fullest potential. I don't have really a lot of income coming in right now as I am unemployed, though I am getting a pension and unemployment, but not enough to buy serious applications for taking advantage of the power in my mac pro.
Can someone advise on how I can get the best out of my 6-core mac pro without having to spend 1000's of dollars on stuff I may or may never ever need? Other than video editing, is there any other way I can get the best out of using my machine for what its intended for? Here is what I currently use my mac pro for, thus far:
1. Everyday stuff, browsing internet, forums, emailing.
2. sometimes I will burn two dvds/cd's simultaneously, sometimes not.
3. Retro gaming though I do have some older modern games I play from time to time.
4. I had bootcamp installed, but no more as I can do most of the work I need on the OS X platform.
5. When I ever get dvds, I rip them using handbrake just to take advantage of all my cores, even though mactheripper is much faster and only uses some of the cores.
As of right now most of the above I do on my newly acquired Power Mac G5 Quad and my mac pro is on the floor, disconnected and not being used. The problem is that I got the mac pro because of its expandability and I realize my BIGGEST MISTAKE here was that it is in no way a consumer type machine, but for many years I have used desktop macs for my purposes and expansion.
This is my only intel mac, as my PB G4 is being used for my mobile computing and does everything I throw at it, Power Mac G5 does also what I through at it. The G4 Pismo is only used for OS 9 nostalgia to if I ever have a yearn to retro back to the beginning days of OS 9
Question: With my limited amount of funds, what can I do to get the best out of my Mac Pro?? I don't want to sell it for something cheaper or less, as I really do love the expansion capability of the mac pro and its case for prolonging the system. I don't plan on getting a future mac pro as for what I use it for it certainly would be a waste.
I know I have been rude to some of you and I know its been a rocky road between all of you on this forum and me, but I am now in a desperate, precarious position.. What really can I use my mac pro for other than using it like my PM G5 Quad? I am starting to also think the Quad is overkill, but nevertheless, I have a love for both Intel and PowerPC. And yes, I plan on getting Lion as I do want my mac pro to keep up with at least software and updates to the OS.

RomkoLOL, I think the G5s are already obsolete & a Legacy Mac as far as Apple is concerned, yet MHz per MHz they can still compete favorably with the right SW.

No iPods here, but Macs have traditionally been weak in USB amperage, I'd think if all else fails an AC powered USB hub would vertainly cure it.

Right now Leo/10.5.x is still fairly well supported, but when a new OS hits I expect that to stop.

E1200 new user- need some expert tips
Hi guys, I just bought a new e1200 model a few hours ago to replace my old WRT54G version 3.0 , My house is not that big less than 400 sq meters and one floor only. In my old router, when I go to my garden, the internet speed is very slow and thats when I thought that I needed a new upgrade , so I got the e1200, would have wanted a more expensive version like the e2000 + models and higher but this is the only one available here in our city.

1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 1, 6, 9, 11..
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Update the drivers for the wireless card of the wireless computer. Then check the wireless connection status. -
Need some expert help on this one
My PPC 10.4.11 mac is running very very slow with plenty of disk space and when I try to verify permission, repair permissions etc. disk utility freezes up to the point where I have to cold shut off the computer. Issues started yesterday when a page in iweb became corrupt causing me to have to completely redesign my index page and then it started freezing up. Do I just need it do an achieve and install or is there something else I can do?

Environment PATH is corrupted, need some expert RVM ruby version manager and environment PATH
I have some serious issues with my ~/.bash_profile and I think I just figured out what it is. I have a ~/.bash_profile for myself as a normal user and another one as root user. They should be the same. I am the administrator and the regular user and anything I do as root I should be able to do as a user in the least case it should work as root user.
I really munged editing my path so I'm trying to reconstruct what I did and what I need it to do. I would just like to get it back to where it was and add RVM and Sproutcore to my PATH. That is all I need to do. To explain it though I have to walk you through what I did wrong.
1. This is how my ~/.bash_profile is as a regular user . I thought this should work with adding the two new programs to my path RVM and Sproutcore. So far not so good.
export PATH=/usr/local/zend/bin:/usr/local/zend/mysql/bin:/users/jr/.rvm/bin:/usr/loca l/sproutcore:$PATH

2. This is how my ~/.bash_profile is as the root user. AS you can see I was going through the RVM install I guess a couple of times and it added something to my path. This mostly looks right to me though. I want my zend server to still work I probably added /usr/local/sproutcore to the end. I don't know if that is right. maybe I was supposed to do export $PATH and all that instead of just adding it to the end but that is what I did.

I even thought of going to the environment.plist and editing it in Xcode but I don't know what the key value pairs should be if it can be fixed otherwise then we can skip that step.
This is what I need to work as well as adding the path to sproutcore but this is the error I get when running it and it is installed correctly.
RVM is not a function, selecting rubies with 'rvm use ...' will not work.
You need to change your terminal settings to allow shell login.
Please visit https://rvm.io/workflow/screen/ for example and their manual says this, so I need the RVM to work with the shell this way below.
Can someone help me get the shell down below working in conjunction with my .bash_profile ?

The Database is built, as is the GUI to run the software and it is your job to implement the required SQL Queries to communicate the Database with the GUI. You will be using the database “Bookstore”; this database is available from INB122 blackboard unit page. The database has the following four tables as shown below. Primary key of each table is underlined.
Publisher(publisherCode, publisherName, publisherCity, publisherState)
Author(authorNumber, authourName, authorFirst)
Book(bookCode, bookTitle, publisherCode, bookType, bookPrice, paperback)
Wrote(bookCode, authorNumber, sequenceNumber)
The Queries needs to be broken into two components. The first involves the development of SQL queries that you will test directly against the database. These will serve as the basis for the second component which will involve modifying the original queries to allow for non-static fields/conditions.
For example, if the Query was to list all the books that are a set price (say $30), you would have
SELECT bookTitle FROM Book WHERE bookPrice = 30;
Here the price ($30) is something that the non-static GUI will be allowed to vary and
consequently would take the form:
SELECT bookTitle FROM Book WHERE bookPrice = ?;

I have written the queries, I want someone to confirm if my queries satisfies the required scenario and gives proper output.Called "testing" - and we shouldn't be testing homework.
Your queries look fine, but since you haven't provided any CREATE TABLE and particularly
INSERT INTO TableName VALUES...

I Need Some Prep Advise For Installing/Using a Wacom Bamboo-CS4
Hi,
I am getting a Wacom Bamboo. My first tablet, I would like to hear suggestions on what to do to get ready settings wise in CS4 and Vista x64 HP.
I have searched and read lots on it and see there can be some difficulties.
So far I see in control panel/pen & input devices, it has been suggested to untick everything in there and rely on Wacoms drivers. Does this sound right?
How about in CS4?
I am a semi pro photographer and not really deep into CS4 experience wise but will use the tablet to brush masks and use the lasso tool for starters.
Anything you guys can toss at me to help me have a less buggy tablet install would be great.

Reports of problems relate to the more advanced functions of the more sophisticated Wacoms.
The only general problem is having the pen too near the tablet when the mouse is in use and vice versa. This can stop the painting tools from working. -
Macbook pro and Google Chrome: Need an expert advise
I have set google chrome as default browser on my mac book pro. I have also set chrome to be permanently incognito using apple script. I did this by searching online for help. Now everything is fine except the only problem is if I click a link in an email or an app it opens in normal chrome window instead of google chrome incognito window. So my question is how do i make 'google chrome incognito' my default browser? Basically what I want to do is set 'google chrome incognito' my default browser no matter if I open it from the dock or from an external link in an email/app/third party software.
Here is a set up on my macbook. I have normal 'google chrome' in my apps folder. Then I have created 'google chrome incognito' in my apps folder using an apple script i found on one of the forums. In my dock i have 'google chrome incognito'. So when I open chrome from the dock (which i always do) it always opens in incognito. The only problem (like i said above) is when i click a link from an email or or any other app. This only happens when chrome is closed. If I click the link the window will open in 'normal chrome' instead of 'incognito chrome'. If the 'chrome incognito' is open in background when I click on the link then window will open in incognito mode. How do I fix this issue to open chrome in incognito no matter what i do?

I have downloaded Mavericks OSX 10.9 and Numbers 3.0. I have revised some of my Numbers files. Today Apple advised of Updates for my computer, which I downloaded. I now find that I am running Numbers 09 on my computer and cannot access my revised Numbers files without going to the App Store and buying Numbers 3.0 for $19.99. Has anyone else run into this problem?
Something similar happened to me: I opened a spreadsheet that I worked on yesterday and received an error message saying that I needed to load a new version of Numbers. That would be the same new version that I had downloaded the day before. It sent me to the App Store where I was told that no new software was available for me.
I noticed that I had the older version of Numbers still open in my dock. I removed it, opened Numbers 3.0, and my spreadsheet appeared.

I inherited this app and signing the third party jars is how it was setup, I was wondering the same thing too, why was it necessary to sign the third party jars?
The applet runs in either JRE 1.6.0_13 or JRE 1.6.0_27 depending on the other Java apps the user uses. JRE 1.6.0_13 does not have the mixed code security (so it is like is disable), but JRE 1.6.0_27 does have the mixed code security and the applet will not launch with mixed code security enable, so we have to disable it. With all the hacking going on in the last two years, is important to improve security; so this is a must.
Yes, I always clear up the cache.
