hello there, i`ve bought the Iphone 3GS 16gb, from england sealed, from a guy, he told me it runs on vodafone, the problem is i`m back in romania new, but i havent download the itunes yet, because i don`t have the vodafone uk sim card, and i tried with a romanian vodafone sim card but when i try to install the itunes it keeps telling me: The SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. why??? isnt the same network ??? how can i install the aplication without an an UK Vodafone sim card... ??

You need the original Vodafone SIM. Vodafone UK does not offer unlocking according to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 and your phone will not work with Vodafone Romania.

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.

Need some help getting iTunes installed

I already know that I have a problem installing iTunes and its during the "publishing product information" part of the installation. I got my hands on a Windows XP Home Edition disc . . . I attempted to do the installation repair . . . part way through it I was asked to give the "administrators password" . . . this I do not know. After the third wrong password I was told that I needed to reboot and start over. I am trying to avoid the re-installing windows b/c of all the factory crap that I have on this comptuer.
Is there anyone out there that can break this down to me big bird and barney style?? I have been on the phone waiting to talk to someone at compaq from more than 80 mins now!!

okay, it sounds like you've already found the correct KB doc for the "vanishing installation" problem:

what administrative rights do you have on that PC?
if you don't have administrative rights, can you contact the administrator to get them to do the install for you?

Installing iPhone without SIM-card

Is it possible to install an iPhone (using WiFi) without a SIM card (because I don't have one yet)?

You cannot activate an iPhone without a sim. The sim does not have
to be associated with an active account; however, if the iPhone is locked
to a wireless provider, the sim must be from that provider.
Borrow an appropriate sim from a friend/relative/co-worker for the few
minutes it will take to activate your iPhone, and then give the sim back.

I've got a bit of a problem here with itunes and my ipod nano.
Basically I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit and when I connect my ipod to my PC the found new hardware wizard pops up but can never find the ipod nano.
In disk management the ipod is showing up but in itunes its not.
Could anyone advise on this please?

A little update about this issue and it's good news. I've managed to get the ipod show up in disk management with the ipods name and when I open itunes and plug the ipod in, it pops up in itunes.
Heres it is just like it should be, a result!

Basically what I did to fix this issue in Windows Vista was the following
1.Click Start type run in the search bar and then msconfig.
2.Click on the Services tab and "hide all Microsoft Services".
3.Click Disable All for all the non Microsoft services that are showing.
4.Click OK
5.Click Restart.
6.When your desk top loads up click OK for the msconfig menu which pops up.
7.Open itunes and connect your ipod.
It should now show it does for me.
Now follow step 1 again and load all services as your pc would start normally again and reboot, again your ipod should show up now as it should.
I hope that's useful if anyone else experiences the same.

Disable your antivirus and firewall, then restore.

Are you looking for the serial number or the IMEI? If the phone was active on your Verizon acount, Verizon can give you the IMEI.

Try moving the existing backup file to a safe location so that iTunes has to create an entire new file. The backup file is located here. You can delete that backup once you get a successfull backup.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.
