Need some information about "LabVIEW 5.1 failure in dialog.c line 372" (Windows NT)

I got this error while trying to run a file archiving job on a large number of files. I noticed the memory usage was rising steadily until it finally stopped and then generated this error. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hello,
That looks like a very old indication of an internal LabVIEW error.  The conditions you describe indicate it could be a memory leak - perhaps you are opening many references and not closing them somewhere in your code?  Unfortunately, if the problem is in LabVIEW, and not the programming behind your application, I don't think R&D is going to be willing to consider fixing problems found in LabVIEW 5.1 - the product is now in version 8.0.
I hope it turns out to be in your code, and that you're able to fix it by removing a memory leak somewhere!

JLS

  • Need some hardware information about PCI7030/6040E

    Hi,
I'm working with LabViewRT and the PCI7030/6040E DAQ board. Everything works very well now, but I need some hardware information about this board for my dissertation. For example what kind of analog/digital converter does the bord use and so on.
    Thanks for your help.

    TobyRT,
For questions of this nature, where you are requesting hardware specifications for our data acquisition boards, I would recommend that you contact National Instruments Technical Support.
I recommend that your contact method be via email where you can reach one of our Applications Engineers like myself. Please submit your email request via http://www.ni.com/ask.

  • Need some honest opinions about Campus VPNs - MPLS in the Enterprise

Our organization is considering the new Cisco Campus VPN model for one of our new research facilities (~1000 people). They are suggesting a Layer 3 MPLS-iBGP-VPN Core and Distribution Layer (between the PEs) and Layer 2 at the Access. This seems unnecessarily complex and rather difficult to manage. We're going to end up with anywhere from 30-50 VRFs, and we'll end up having to place 6500s w/Sup 720s everywhere (even at the Access). This sounds like overkill to me. Thoughts?

It basically reads like I wrote a paper describing what I've been thinking about. ;)
So I guess that means I like the architecture as a general rule. My question to some degree still stands regarding what it is you want and what you need for your environment.
If you really need the kind of services afforded by this design, then there's not much else you can do that's scalable.
However, I noticed when the Superverisor 32 came out that it mentioned future MPLS support. I don't know what timeframe the necessary software will come out in (or if it's out already), but depending on the timeframe for your implementation it may be possible for them to coincide in some beneficial way. That would certainly save you rather a lot of money I suspect, as the Sup32s are quite a bit less expensive than the Sup720s (particularly if you're considering having two in each chassis for redundancy). Like I said, I have no idea about availability, but it may be something to consider if you can weasel some dates out of your Cisco salesman (or woman).

  • I need some straight talk about PCM vs. AC3

    Hello,
I am getting conflicting messages about which type of audio to use, the PCM audio (AIFF/WAV) or AC3 (Dolby). Several posts on here swear that you should always use AC3, that it helps with playback issues. But when I preview both clips in DVD SP4, the AIFF sounds way, way better, the AC3 is hushed and tin-can sounding? Why, if my total assets going to disc are only 2.2. GB would I not use the AIFF files since they seem to sound better and there is plenty of room on the disc? Thanks for your help.
    Paul

I do appreciate your insights aspalex, but the tests I have done here do not seem to indicate this to be true about the AIF file and the AC3 sounding identical. I mean, how could they, one file is 45 MB and the other, the AC3 has been reduced to 5 MB!! Something has to give, and I can hear the difference. Now if I go and set all the levels higher in FCP then maybe the AC3 will be at the same level. I have never cared much for Dolby for this reason, it is doing some sort of compression to get that file so small. I remember back when I had a Kenwood tape player in my old semi-automatic Honda Accord (yeah, that was some kinda car :P ) and it had a Dolby button, before you pressed the button for Dolby you could hear the treble real good (as well as the static), after pressing the Dolby button, the sound was more "muted" but the static was gone. It seems the same thing is happening here.
So perhaps it is more an issue of DVD player compatibility overall. If someone says to me that if I use PCM it will fail in my old Apex DVD player but not in the new Sony DVD player, and if I use AC3 it will never fail in any drive, then that would definitely swing the vote in favor of AC3.
I can definitely understand someone using AC3 if space is a serious issue because the files are definitely smaller, and the quality loss is indeed very small (though I can still hear it) and that would help tremendously (such as Javier72 on his 8 GB DVD!). However, in my case space is not an issue at all, I just have 2.2 GB, and I want maximum quality on video and audio. But if I MUST use AC3 simply for the sake of player compatibility then I will.
Does that make sense? Am I missing something important?
    Thanks to all,
    Paul

  • Student needing some questions answered about Manufacturing Scheduling software

    Greetings;
I am a undergraduate senior at Arizona State University majoring in Supply Chain Management. I am currently doing a project about Oracle's Manufacturing Scheduling option and have a few general questions for those of you that have used the software and/or involved with its implementation. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you are uncomfortable releasing your company's name that is fine. If you do not want to post the answers here, I can also be emailed at rmkraus"SAYNOTOSPAMBOTS"@asu.edu. Thank you!!
    The questions I have are:
What is your experience with the manufacturing scheduling software?
What is/was your role with the software?(ie buyer, consultant, user, technical support, etc)
How do you feel about the software's ease of use?
What training did you recieve or did your company offer?
How much did implementing the software approxiamately cost?
What do you feel are the advantages of the software?
What do you feel are the disadvantages of the software?
Did your company have any problems during the implementation?
Has your company experienced cost savings due to the software?
Have you or your company used any competing software in the past?
Any other insight that you would like to share?
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help.

    Im not sure on 5
I know it's unusual, but if your project budget is
good you may have more than one constructor. At least
that's what I thoughtach.. you poor fellow, you are confused now aren't you.
i bet taht in the fifth question they are talking about 'constructor methods', not procrammers who are constructing the code (or 'contractors')
if your budget allws then you may even have three or 87 contractors, but that's not the case here.
i hope that clarifies things a bit.
and PS! i don't like when people intentionally give bad solutions to others.

  • Need some information confirmed about the content ID number

Is it possible to have it change the auto number prefix in a contextual manner.
    example
    default:xxxx001
    doc-a:xxxy00[1|2]
    doc-b:xxxz00[1|3]

    Hey
There was a HowtoComponent around called DynamicPrefiix which dnamically set the Content id prefix. It was used as an example in some of the courses.
You could potentially get a copy of that and set the prefix based on your rules. For example, if content type = "foo" then prefix = "bar" else prefix = "xxx".
I think Bex's site has an 11g copy on it:

  • Need some techical information about Satellite P100-10P

    Hello,
    I own a Satellite P100-10P laptop.
    My question is:
How much gigaflops can this laptop produce (not in normal usage, but technically)?

    Hi
First of all you will not find here any Toshiba technicians but simply, common Toshiba notebooks users. This is a user-to-user forum!
    Regarding your question;
Why you dont use a benchmark application to measure floating-point performance.
Maybe a LINPACK 64bit benchmark application could helps. I write could helps because I never used and tested this program. ;)

But this program was written for Linux OS. It looks like you will be not able to run it on Win OS.

  • I need some help/advice about a CS5 invalid Serial Number

I recently purchased a CS5 Master Collection on ebay. Excited to get playing with it, I started to load it right away. When the window popped up asking for the serial number I punched it in and it showed as invalid! I retyped it and again invalid! So I checked the disc and in the notetab text file the serial number there was different than the one I had typed in off of the instruction paper. I typed that number in and the CS5 loaded! HOWEVER, once the CS5 was finished installing and I started up any program the window popped again asking for the serial number! Also on the same window it says on the bottom to (click here) for trial version and the days count down!!!
The seller claims that I'm not installing it right and says when not installed correctly it acts like a trial version!
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 4 times and I get the same results!
Can anyone offer any comments, suggestions?
    I would greatly appreciate it!

  • We Need Some Developer Recognition Here

Forgive me if I missed something of this sort, but it seems to me that we need some sort of "About the Developers" page. Looking around, I have very little idea of who the devs are anymore, and I think they need more recognition for their work. Just throwing this out there, it's a feeling I've had for a while.

Gah, I've been proven an idiot within 10 minutes. Oh well, it's happened before.
EDIT: LOL, now I get the joke behind Iphitus' avatar.

  • I need some information about jre 1.5 and jre 1.6.

    Hello guys,
I need some information about jre 1.5 and jre 1.6.
Suppose if i have jre 1.5 customized with "additional language support" installed in my my desktop, and later on i install jre 1.6. will this jre over write all the esisting settings which was present in jre 1.5?
In short will the version upgrades disable the features of the old Version even though the old version is present in the desktop?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ ^^
That's not a trivial step. I would write a small C/C++ program that
exercises your driver (for robustness) just to be sure it's working
right first without crashing your system.
    >The problem is that I don't know to use this driver in LabView.
    >For now, I think to use a "code interface node" with code writen in C or a
    >"call library function" with a DLL.
That's correct. _After_ you got your C/C
    ++ test program (and USB
driver) above working, then you can convert this little test program
into a DLL or CIN, which can interface with LabView. A DLL might be
easier (slightly) to write, but the CIN will work faster with LabView
and can be designed to be reentrant. The Code Interface Reference
Manual should guide you. Remember, this is a task for an _experienced_
C programmer. You'll need to use handles to pointers into all your
dynamic arrays and such passed into LabView.
After you got your CIN or DLL written, you can use a special CIN
function node to "link" (or bind) your CIN object into LabView's VI
    diagram.
    SOME THOUGHTS:
There are many hardware devices already on the market today that come
with Windows 98 drivers and DLL (or even CIN) libraries that would work
immediately with LabView. Why don't you save yourself three months of
work and simply buy one of these?

Remote App on iPad connects but drops after about  20 mins. Need to turn  off wait about 1 minute, then turn on wifi on iMac before it can reconnect. Need some help please.
Already gone through troubleshooting guide a zillion times. Thanks.

This worked for me... A little time consuming but once you get rolling it goes GREAT... Thanks....
I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

    3.1 - If you client copy from client 000, you need to go to SCC4 and set the client to customizing chnages allowed;
3.2 - If you do a client copy from client 800 (the one that SAP delivers data in) you should have data. Client 000 is empty (almost).
3.3 - You should be able to change the password of SAP* PASS user.
I am not sure which version you are dealing with, but ERP2004 and ERP2005 allow you to change the password suring installation.
Also, there is a parameter that can be maintained that allows you to log on as SAP*. If you set as not available, no one can log on.
    Hope it helps,

  • Need some info about Brushless Motor control

    Hi
I am new to motion control and I am planning to control a Brushless Servo Motor. What I understand from  the motion control tutorials is that I need to use a high performance controller with a third party drive to control a brushless servo motor. Can anyone let me know if thats right and also help me out in finding some more information about Brushless Servo motors and how to control its motion.
    Thanks,

    Sada,
"Do u know where I can find some detailed information about controlling a brushless motor so that I can decide which of the two options to follow?"
    Servomotors
The NI-Motion users manual has a section on brushless servo motors...
    NI-Motion User Manual
The 7350 help file (the only Motion boards that can provide internal commutation) has a section on brushless servo motors.
    NI 7350 User Manual
In almost everycase I am aware of, you will need to buy a UMI to interface with a brushless motor drive (the only case in which this wouldn't be true is if the Drive manufacturer created a drive specifically to cable directly to an NI Motion board).
