I am an HP UX admin and I am upgrading my skills and learning Sun Solaris these days. I need some quick start on solaris zones, I believe they are same as vpar, npar on HPUX.
Can some one please provide me some guidance?

The product you'd use is Solaris Cluster which can be downloaded from here or the open source version which you can find here.
You can even run this in a VirtualBox on a PC to gain experience of it in a single node configuration. There are various blogs describing this out there.

The company I work for is providing material for sales people and it needs to be put on their ipads. The materials will be a video and some pdfs. I am not too familure with how the Ipad works but is there a way to get this information on there?

You can use the 'default' apps to do that : iBooks for the pdfs and Video for your video's. But you will have to switch between them to see the different files.
Or, another solution, you can buy an application called GoodReader ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodreader-for-ipad/id363448914?mt=8 ); this app can read all kinds of files (doc, pdf, audio, video...). One of the many great things of this app is that you can create folders to order your files, rename the files etc...
Another great thing, you can get the files through iTunes or ftp, webdav, dropbox etc....
The feature that will mostly interest you is the possibility of synchronizing a folder between a server, dropbox, etc.. an your ipad.
There are many more features, it's really a great app. (I am not affiliated with them ;-) )

New to sun/unix need some help getting my solaris express developers workin

well it installed, detected my dvd but during the install process I was not asked any networking questions. I figured perhaps it meant I had to configure that after the fact but alas it says the network admin can't configure the network because the network auto-magic is configured. whatever that means...well I guess it means my ethernet was not found? also a right click screen resolution only gives my 50hz refresh rate and 640x480 so I am guessing that means my video card is not detected either? I have an asus 800se motherboard with built in graphics and ethernet so I guess I will need to get 2 pci cards?
well if so I started to look at the very large hardware list and my head started spinning. so my question is...can anyone here suggest both an older video and ethernet card that I might say be able to find on ebay? because I really don't need anything fancy I am must out to learn sun...old but good and reliable???

I am having difficulty getting to grips with the mac book pro. I needs some training - does anyone know if Apple provides a free course when you buy a laptop? I am having difficulty moving files from the hard drive to an external drive.

How do I get my 'document' file back and in place on the status bar. I tried to drag and drop it into the external drive - but failed and lost it to what appears to be space! Need some sort of help: Solaris 9 (intel)

After numerous attempts to install Video drivers etc. and by recomended instruction "press F2 for the test" I have got the freezing system. After reboot I have got:
System is ready.
Console Login:
Starting Desktop login on Display 0:...
Wait for desktop login screen before loggin in
and freeze again... nothing happens; I cannot type login, etc.
How I can resolve this problem at lease make this CDE disabled if I cannot login. :(

As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.

Need some help on Depreciation on SAP

Our company has just installed the Fixed Asset piece in SAP and I am very new at it.
I ran the May depreciation in June which at that point SAP May is still open. After I ran the depreciation and all the entries posted. We closed May. and We are looking at depreciation on May and find out what pull up from SAP is different $$ for what I have printed back then. Do some research and found out 1 piece of fixed asset, the AP lady put in wrong vendor, without let us know, she reverse the invoice document on the wrong vendor and re do the invoice document under the correct vendor in June. and I do not understand is May is closed and the reverse document reversed in May and the new document is created in June, so that fixed asset is showing $0 when I pull up the report now but on the report that I do a depreciation run has an amount in it?
Can anyone tell me what I should do if next time same situation happen so the depreciation is not mess up?
Also since I am new at this, can anyone suggest where I can find more reading materials for this will help, I also need some reading material for AUC too. I have the BPP that the SAP consultant left me, but they only tell me how to do the procedure and it is not detail, if you follow the step and it come out like the instruction is said everything is fine, but if it does not, it did not show you how to trouble shoot and help to fix problem.
Help, I need lots of help.

When the invoice was reversed, it would also show a reversed posting for depreciation. So you may need to open May again and do a repeat run of depreciation and this should reverse the depreciation of this particular posting.

We have a set of oracle clients running on T5220 zones that need some help.
If, for example, I execute the query "select (all) from dba_objects", trace output reports 90% of the elapsed time spent under "SQLNet message from client".
Here are OS details for the clients: Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC
Running "uname -a" from the client gives:
(SunOS bmc-ste-app 5.10 Generic_127127-11 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5220)
Here are OS details for the dataserver: Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2
Running "uname -a" from the dataserver gives:
(2.6.18-92.1.6.0.2.el5 #1 SMP Thu Jun 26 17:44:55 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
The RDBMS is 10.2.0.4
Again, please note, there is no application in the picture here. We are just running a simple catalog query (select * from dba_objects) from sqlplus. Why the wait on something like this? The wait also occurs when a different query is used (select (all) from SYS.COL$ where rownum < 50000). And it doesn't matter if I used the full client or the instant client. I still get the same high-wait.
We had thought - maybe this is a network thing - so we put a test client on the same subnet as the dataserver. This helped - but not enough. The wait is still way too high even with firewalls taken out of the equation.
We've also looked at arraysize, SDU, kernel settings. And we've spent time going over tkprof, truss and sqlnet-tracing.
Has anyone ever had to solve this HIGH WAIT ON CLIENT issue? Is there a work around or some tweak I'm missing.
Is anyone configured like we are (linux dataserver, solaris clients)? If so - did you see anything like this?

We have the exact same issue. Did you ever solve this issue? We have a t5220 and have just upgraded our 11.5.10.2 11i system on it from 9.2.0.8 32-bit sparc to 11.2.0.1 64-bit sparc. Things should be faster but arent, and our consultant has tracked it down to high wait times when the apps tier using forms connects to the database tier on the same box. So even though the t5220 is both server and client, there is something about the client sql connection.through TNS that his having trouble. Thanks for any information. We've also created an S/R with Oracle.
Note: I am well aware of the other issues with the CMT server series but this particular issue seems independent of the regular / known issues and remains a mystery to us. Other known issues with the CMT servers for SPARC:

Since You are already a SD Consultant, We assume you are very much familliar with SAP and for you CRM will also be not a big Deal.
Customer Relationships Management (CRM) is a model for managing any Organization's interaction with current and future customers. It involves technology to organize, automate and synchronize SALES, SERVICES(postsales) AND MARKETING(presales).
First of all you need to get SAP CRM installed in your system and then you need to get command over Account and Contact Management (Business Partner). The same can be learned using WebUI or GUI. From GUI the transaction launcher is WUI then web page opens up enter your credentials and select Role - Salespro. Open the Account and Contact section and do some R&D and you can learn. But in GUI you need to go to SPRO -> IMG -> Cross Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Number Ranges & Groupings -> Define Number Ranges. Here you have defined number range then you need to assign to some group created from SPRO same way. And Finally maintain Business Partner using Tcode - BP.
Then You Learn Organizational Management which allows us to map our marketing, sales, service structure maintaining company's structure including the position and Employees in an Application and assign specific attributes to the otganizational units.
Path: SPRO -> IMG -> CRM -> Master Data -> Organizational Management -> Organizational Model -> Create Org Model/Change org model.
Just Go ahead and with some more R&D in the system and taking of F1 Help of SAP Documentation I think you can easily learn SAP CRM.
