Need some validations on MDM repository

I am an MDM guy working on SAP standard repository "BUSINESS PARTNER".

Yes currently we are doing analysis on master data consolidation.
This is small idea.
We are trying to gather suggestion from the guys on community that what actually the problems they are facing and need solution on the problems above on MDM and BI or anyone.
Like we have a requirement give the supplier a application that accpet the data from supplier and before importing it to mdm first validate the whole file and then import it as there is no solution to first validate the the data provided by supplier that they are giving.
so we are working on this application also.
If you have any good idea that we can work on it then please share with us.

Significance of Account Type EXP,LEQ,INC,AST in BPC- Need some valid reason

Hi,
I have a question why we need account type in BPC. Is there really any Business significance for maintaining Account Type ?
Account type LEQ, INC it behaves differently while load data/display data as sign change happens in SAP Back end. Major issue comes when you try to create a re-concillation report using BEX tool for LEQ, INC accounts in BPC and BI cube as you need to reverse the sign in BEX side for any calculation or any data match for INC and LEQ accounts.
My implication is : Is there anything wrong if we take all accounts as EXP account type because what data comes from other source/Input schedule remain as such for all accounts. There will be no Discrepancy/confusion of sign while in reporting in BI side or BPC side. You can follow normal calculation process if you have calculated any item in the report and does not bother about the account type and behaves same as the BI cube data.
Any idea or any issue if the above implication is implemented. I need some concrete reasons for the above issue as it create a extra headache/confusion in BPC impementation project.

Lets take a simple example. Lets say you have revenue as INC, sales as EXP and Profit as INC. You enter values from input schedule as below
Acct    Type    Value entered in IS      Value in DB
Revenue   INC   400                   -400
Sales   EXP     100                  100
Lets say Profit is the parent, then the values will be
Profit   INC   -300
In the report, you will see the data as 300 (since profit is of type INC).
However, if you keep all as EXP, then
Acct    Type    Value entered in IS      Value in DB
Revenue   EXP   400                   400
Sales   EXP     100                  100
Profit    EXP                             500
The above data, as you can see, is incorrect. Now, for making it correct, you need to put a formula for Profit as Revenue - Sales. This looks easy, however, will become cumbersome with more number of members.

we are planning to develop application using BI and MDM .Currently we are focusing on sustainiability thing but want some more.
I just want you to share yr thoughts that help us developing more meaningful application .
Just share what basic problem you are facing or what you want to enhance or what new application you want on MDM and BI or any one of them.

How to add MDM Repository in DS?

Hi All,
We have MDM 7.1 and would like to integrate with BO Data Services XI.
Can any one please provide some information to solve my problem to create MDM Repository in BO DS.
I am trying to create a Repository in Data Services Management Console of database type MySQL. The details what i provided, is given below:
Repository name: I have given name of the MDM repository here
Database type:Microsoft SQL Server
Machine name: the system name on which MDM 7 is installed is provided
Database port: 1433 or i need to give the MDM repository port name?
Database Name:?
User NAME and PWD: here i have to give MDM or Database userdetails?
Am I giving right credentials and is this right way to connect directly to the MDM repository from DS?
It would be great can anyone please through some ideas to resolve this issue.

MDM Repository not Connecting after Server shifting

Hi,
Here We have SAP MDM 7.1 06 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Oracle.
Recently we have shifted our MDM Server from 1 Data Center to Another Data Center, After this change MDM Instances started successfully.
1st Problem:
Now the problem is, i am not able to connect repository (Error is: Repository connect failed, Invalid Object State). After i mount the MDM Server in console, repository not connecting.
2nd Problem:
when i right click on MDM Server in Console, even i am not able to connect Databse in DBMS Setting (Error is: Unable to connect with Database server).
Need Help to fix this issue at the earliest.
Did some searches on net and sdn forums but couldn't get right solutions.

Thanks For your support.
The issue has been solved.
Problem was: MDM Server and Repository was not connecting to DB, due to sever shifting to new location with different public IP.
Solution is: when i check the tnsnames.ora file in the below location Old public IP was given so, now i just changed the newly assigned public IP, (Under file path: <Drive>:\oracle\SID\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN).
After the change and update of new public IP in tnsnames.ora, we have restart the MDM instances and DB from OS Level.
After this activity, DB connection issue was solved, then now i am able to connect to existing MDM repository.

but my code is working fine for either one at a time.

I do this all the time, I put my MBP to a 60 inch Sharp. If you have the video working do the simple thing first. Check to make sure your sound is on your TV and Mac. Then if that doesn't work go to System Prefrences and under sound go to a tab called Output and see if your TV is listed and if it is change it to that setting

Problem: Unable to retrieve workflow data from MDM repository

This is a new MDM installations scenario for version 5.5 SP05 (5.5.40.83).
After installing MS Visio, finding problems connecting it with the MDM Data Manager. After doing MDM workflow installations, able to initiate the MS Visio Workflow from MDM Data Manager and can see the Pane-MS Visio Workflow Stencil but not the able to see the Pane-MS Visio Workflow Stencil Details that appears below the Pane-MS Visio Workflow Stencil. Secondly geting a pop-up with the error message as - 'Unable to retrieve workflow data from MDM repository.'
I have added a parameter Mail Server=MailServerIPAddess (the existing IP addr), but it hasn't helped.
Can any one please help me in this !

As Felix mentioned, it might be a version compatibility problem.
You have also mentioned that mail server is not working for that do this

MDM workflow notify task is working after rebooting the Machine. So the rule is after making changes to MDS.ini file reboot the machine ,to observe the consequence of configurable changes.

Hi Jon,
The "correct" name for an iTunes Library file is iTunes Library.itl. Nearly all updates to iTunes involve some upgrade the library file. The pre-upgrade file is moved into the Previous iTunes Libraries folder, stamped with the date of the upgrade, and then used to construct a new library incorporating any changes that have been made to the data structure for the new build. Should this upgrade go wrong you can usually copy the archived file back into the main iTunes folder, give it the correct name, start iTunes and iTunes will do the upgrade over again. Like this...
Sometimes when iTunes isn't shut down properly the active library file gets corrupted. If you start iTunes in this state you may be prompted to locate a valid library file. It looks like you have connected to a much older library file at some point. What is less clear is if this is a recent event or an older one.
I suggest you search the entire computer for all files of the form *.itl. Ideally we need to find the most recently modified one that isn't corrupt, place it in the main iTunes folder, rename it as iTunes Library.itl and connect to it. Having placed a suitable library file in the correct location and renamed it, click the icon to start iTunes and then immediately press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. Click choose and browse to the renamed/relocated library file. If that file won't work close iTunes, and try another in the fashion shown in the diagram until you find one that is satisfactory. No need to use the shift-start-iTunes trick again as this time each new file will be on the same path.
Once you've found the best of the available libraries you can use a tool called iTunes Folder Watch to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created, i.e., add in the new files, or delete the entries for tracks that have been removed from the media folder.
If for some reason the restored library contains broken links to the media I have a script called FindTracks that can repair them.
When you get it all working make a backup!

You can upload images to MDM via the API, but the only way to create thumbnails is via the MDM Data Manager application which uses some embedded libraries to do the work.

I am new to SAP MDM. I want to create MDM repository for Material Master. What I unddertand is, I can create repository using Bussiness Content shiped with MDM software. I will copy *.a2a file to archive folder of MDM server and unarchive repository. I have following question for you.
1. HOw do I use export maps and import maps which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
2. How do I use MDM Lookup Tables which is xml document in Busines contenst\Material folder?
3. Why is the use of MDMGX_55520_Material.txt file which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
4. What is the use of *.xsd files and how can I use them?

save all the map files on your loacl machine. open import manager and select file-> Import, browse to the .map file and save the map with a meaningful name. now next time connect to the source file you want to import and OPEN the map saved.
2. How do I use MDM Lookup Tables which is xml document in Busines contenst\Material folder?
Businees content contains the standard ECC refernce tables like countries, regions etc which can be refreshed from ECC. for this you have to configure MDMGX, defining all the ports in MDM and in ECC the tables from which data has to be refreshed. refer to below threads for details.

Schema files are used for syndicating the records from MDM to source system. Say we want to syndicate material master from MDM to ECC and in ECC they will be posted via MATMAS05 IDoc. these schemas are the structure of IDoc which will contain the values which will be syndicated from MDM.

Validations in MDM

Hi MDM guru's,
I am just 1 month old in MDM with ABAP background. I have few questions regarding MDM Validations--
We use flat files(Text) to load data into MDM. I have a secnerio -- When sending Vendors Data into MDM, it shuld not syndicate the records which does not have some Mandatory fields data other than Key fields data into other ERP system.
Key fields - Compy code & Partner No.
Mandatory fields - Currency , Map fileds ect.
Can you guide me how to validate the data when records are send into system and also it shuld trigger error message & send notification to user/Admin, that set of records does not have data in some Mandatory fields.
Can you please guide me and also with some of validation documents

To add to....
While creating MDM Validations you have an option to either make your validation as an Error,Warning or None
Error: This will not allow the user to proceed withour correctly the error.So if youa re chking for a mandatory validation using IS_NOT_NULL expression for any field,then MDM will not allow you to continue till you fill in a not null value in that field.
Warning:This will throw you a warning message but will allow you to proceed with warnings
None:This is used when you wnat to run a validation on a set of specific records ,eg in a workflows
MDM valiation expression are formed by selecting the Fields nad conditions from teh expression dialogue box.So it is very easy to use,,.
You can frame your expression as per the requirement just by using simple logics which is used when creating validation sin any language.
You can check for mandatory validations by using <Field name> Is_NOT_NULL expression.
and set its staus as error,warning or none.
Also you have a provision to write a user defined message to throw up when the user have failed the validation.
All you hvae to do is create a Validation in MDM data manager and fill in its properties which will cover it all.
Then you can use this validation in a branch step in the MDM workflow to chk for only the corrected records to move on

Having some serious issues with my iPhone and need some advice

I'm going to these two issues which have been occuring with me for the past weeks-
1.) I am facing a problem with my iPhone 5's lightning port or the cable. This started happening all of a sudden; one second my phone is charging, and the other it is not. Even if it is slightly moved from its position, it would stop charging, and further shaking starts it again, so on and so forth. At first I thought the issue might be with my cable, so I asked my friend to bring his lightning cable to my house so we could test that. It happened again- one shake the phone will charge, another shake stops it. (Note that any kind of movement does this, not only shaking) I'm a bit skeptical about his (my friend's) cable too, though- it shows NOT CHARGING on his iPad while it is in fact actually charging. His cable is only 3-4 weeks old though, so this confuses me even more. I think the issue might be with my port, but as of now I cannot draw a valid conclusion to my problem.
2.) The second problem is that I've noticed my battery drains a **** lot faster now- ever since the first issue started. I manage to get my phone charging by placing it very carefully on the table and it charges overnight. However, when I pick it up in the morning, and read some news, it drains from 100% to 99% in ~60 seconds. This never happened before. Before this, it used to be at 100% for at least 10-15 minutes (might be even more). If I reboot my phone, it shows 100% again, but it still drains a lot faster now. I know because I've been using this phone for the past 4 months now, and I know when it drains and when it does nots
Please, help! I need some advice as to how I should approach this problem. My phone is in the warranty period, however, I would like to have an expert's opinion first.

First: I've experienced the same problem with my iPhone 5. I've bought a new charger and it still did the same thing. I went to the Apple Store to get my iPhone checked out and they said that the pins inside my iPhone we're damaged, and I had to get a replacement.

SAP MDM Repository Roles

Dear Friends,
We have a repository in MDM. As part of the MDM repository creation, the system delivered a user names 'Admin"n with super access.
Now, we wanted to create a user with the role "Who can just have access to Create Users".
Also, we wanted to create a user with the role "Who can do all the repository development work but shouldn't have access in Administration space (like create users, ports and so on)".
Kindly help me out and let me know on how to achieve this?

Early this month we upgraded the MDM server to:
MDM Server version: 5.5.63.57
And the portal components:
MDM 5.5 SP06 Technology Patch 3 (Build 5.5.63.57)
MDM 5.5 SP06 Application Patch 3 (Build 5.5.63.57)
MDM 5.5 SP06 Java API Patch 3 (Build 5.5.63.57)
However the issue just began 2 days ago?
We started intgrating MDM Workflow with UWL and assigned Roles and Iviews to the Universal Worklist Configuration
It seems the Iviews work for a while and then after some time everything gives up? Very confounding
And yes we are using standard Iviews (search, Result and detail)

Create MDM repository from repository schema.

Hi,
I have exported MDM repository from one MDM console schema and saved it. Now I am trying to create a Repository from a different MDM console using this Schema. I am getting the Error "ERROR LOADING FILE".
The versions of these MDM are different. Is this causing the failure? How can I overcome it?

Hi Mahesh,
This is an Un-usual error, which even I am facing. In my case there is no version mis-match. I am trying to take the Export the Schema from a rep in 1 MDM server and then importing into another rep in another server.
Hence it might not be a version issue.
However, check the following things in your case.
1. Check the Original repository for error and repair them if found any. Upload your repository with Updated indices. Export the schema out and save it on your desktop.
2. Try creating a new repository using Import Schema on the same MDM server and check if its still showing you an error.
3. Try importing the schema on an Existing repository on the same MDM server.
4. Try Importing the schema and create a new repository on a different MDMserver.
Please check it in a test environment and no need to press the OK button while Import schema. We just need to see if the Import schema windows opens.
If in any case, you do not find the error, then probably we can understand the clear reason of the Error.
If error still persists, then would advice you to raise an SAP ticket for the same.

MDM WebServices Problem while connecting to MDM repository

we have installed the Web Services for MDM.
When I test the Services, say the MDMSearchRecords I always get a ERROR status and the Message:

Can you pls tell me where the problem could be?

you were right! The WebServices version was too old.
Now I can connect to the Repository in Test mode.
I get some other error Messages, like "Field Material_Number is not defined at Table Products." and "Repository Data is not available in the requested Language ." which isn' right.
Do you have a clue where this could come from?
